• HttpModule to Write Out JavaScript Script References to the Response

  On my page in the Page_Load event I add a collection of strings to the Context object. I have an HttpModule that will fire EndRequest and retrieve the collection of strings. What I then do is write out a script reference tag (based on the collection of strings) to the response. The problem is that the page reads the script reference but doesn't retrieve the contents of the file (I imagine because this is occurring in the EndRequest event). I can't fire the BeginRequest event because I won't have access to the Context Items collection. I tried to also registering an HttpHandler which Processes the request of the script reference but I can't access the collection of strings in the Context.Items from there. Any suggestions? • Datastore performance, my code or the datastore latency

  I had for the last month a bit of a problem with a quite basic datastore query. It involves 2 db.Models with one referring to the other with a db.ReferenceProperty. The problem is that according to the admin logs the request takes about 2-4 seconds to complete. I strip it down to a bare form and a list to display the results. The put works fine, but the get accumulates (in my opinion) way to much cpu time. #The get look like this: outputData['items'] = {} labelsData = Label.all() for label in labelsData: labelItem = label.item.name if labelItem not in outputData['items']: outputData['items'][labelItem] = { 'item' : labelItem, 'labels' : [] } outputData['items'][labelItem]['labels'].append(label.text) path = os.path.join(os.path.dirname(__file__), 'index.html') self.response.out.write(template.render(path, outputData)) #And the models: class Item(db.Model): name = db.StringProperty() class Label(db.Model): text = db.StringProperty() lang = db.StringProperty() item = db.ReferenceProperty(Item) I've tried to make it a number of different way ie. instead of ReferenceProperty storing all Label keys in the Item Model as a db.ListProperty. My test data is just 10 rows in Item and 40 in Label. So my questions: Is it a fools errand to try to optimize this since the high cpu usage is due to the problems with the datastore or have I just screwed up somewhere in the code? ..fredrik

• Two PickerViews in save View issue?

  I'm trying to have 2 pickerviews in the same view. It works except for two things. If one pickerview has more rows than the other the app crashes when picking an item from the pickerview with more items. Also I created an NSLog for the pickerviews and the console shows that I'm picking two items at once when in fact i'm only dealing with one pickerview. I know it sounds a bit confusing but I'm including all the code. • Query gives an unsorted result set when run from stored procedure using CTE

  I am trying to create a paging query using CTE. It works fine when I execute it from Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Query Editor. And the result set is perfectly sorted as I want. But when I modify it for a stored procedure it gives me a unsorted result and I don't have any clue why. • Problems pulling data from NSMutableArray for MapKit?

  Hi, I have a class (DataImporter) which has the code to download an RSS feed. I also have a view and separate class (TableView) which displays the data in a UITableView and starts the parsing process, storing parsed information in an NSMutableArray (items). Now I wish to add a UIMapView which displays the items in the items NSMutableArray. I'm struggling to transfer the data into the new class (mapView) to show it in the map - and I preferably don't want to have to create a new class to download the data again for the map. Is there a way I can transfer the information from the NSMutableArray (items) to the mapView? Thanks.   Hello, I'm (re)writing a program that does generic unit test scheduling. The current program is a mono-threaded Perl program, but I'm willing to modularize it and parallelize the tests. I'm also considering rewriting it in Python. Here is what I need to do: I have a list of tests, with the following attributes: uri: a URI to test (could be HTTP/HTTPS/SSH/local) ; depends: an associative array of tests/values that this test depends on ; join: a list of DB joints to be added when selecting items to process in this test ; depends_db: additional conditions to add to the DB request when selecting items to process in this test. The program builds a dependency tree, beginning with the tests that have no dependencies ; for each test: a list of items is selected from the database using the conditions (results of depending tests, joints and depends_db) ; the list of items is sent to the URI (using POST or stdin) ; the result is retrived as a YAML file listing the state and comments for the test for each tested item ; the results are stored in the DB ; the test returns, allowing depending tests to be performed. the program generates reports (CSV, DB, graphviz) of the performed tests. The primary use of this program currently is to test a fleet of machines against services such as backup, DNS, etc. The tests can then be: - backup: hosted on the backup machine(s), called through HTTP, checks if the machines' backup went well ; - DNS: hosted on the local machine, called via stdin, checks if the machines' fqdn have a valid DNS entry. Does such a tool/module already exist? What would be the best implementation to achieve this (using Perl or Python)?

• Beyond the @Produces annotation, how does Jersey (JAX-RS) know to treat a POJO as a specific mime ty

I've seen very basic examples that just return a String of constructed HTML or XML, which makes more sense to me, but I'm missing the next step. I looked at the samples, and one of them stood out (the json-from-jaxb sample), since the object was marked with these types of annotations: @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD) @XmlType(name = "", propOrder = { "flight" }) @XmlRootElement(name = "flights") I'm looking for tutorials that cover this "translation" step-by-step, or an explanation here of how to translate a POJO to output as a specific mime type. • Combo box in a scrollable panel causing problems

  I have a panel with AutoScroll set to true. In it, I am programmatically adding ComboBox controls. If I add enough controls to exceed the viewable size of the panel a scroll bar appears (so far so good). However, if I open one of the combo boxes near the bottom of the viewable area the combo list isn't properly displayed and the scrollable area seems to be expanded. This results in all of the controls being "pulled" to the new bottom of the panel with some new blank space at the top. If I continue to tap on the drop down at the bottom of the panel the scrollable area will continue to expand indefinitely. I'm anchoring the controls to the left, right and top so I don't think anchoring is involved. Is there something obvious that could be causing this? Update: It looks like the problem lies with anchoring the controls to the right. If I don't anchor to the right then I don't get the strange behavior. However, without right anchoring the control gets cut off by the scroll bar. I have the following code and I am trying to figure out the shorter linq expression to do it 'inline'. Please examine the "Run()" method near the bottom. I am attempting to understand how to join two dictionaries together based on a matching identifier in one of the objects - so that I can use the query in this sort of syntax. var selected = from a in items.List() // etc. etc. select a; This is my class structure. The Run() method is what I am trying to simplify. • How do I populate these fields from existing data?

  I'm not sure how to make a few parts of my form to populate from data from an array I'm passing from the database. First is this <select> object. The question is at what point (and how) is it best to create a new custom item that can be set to the SelectedColorLevel when the typed text doesn't match an item. For example I would want to assign a new item to the selected value such as new ColorLevel { Intensity = decimal.Parse(textvalue), IsCustom = true } or using an appropriate converter and databinding to the Text property.

• Update a tableView with a plist took from another table

  Background: I have a tab bar application, which has a tableView as the "heart" of the app. It loads data from a plist and, through a button that checks if there are any updates on the remote plist file, updates the local plist with the remote contents. Then, i have another tableView, that should display only those plist items that have a bool value set to YES. Now i want to add a button to the second table that reloads the plist took from the first table. Expected: When i update the local plist from the first table and when i press the button on the second table, the 2nd table is supposed to update and show the cells with that bool value set to YES. (Note: I set YES as default to some items on plist). What happens: The first table updates its content from remote. The second table shows the old items with the value set to YES. When i press the button to refresh data, it reads the plist fine (by logging it, it has the same contents of the first table -only those set to YES-),but it doesn't update data even if i have [self.tableView reloadData];.   I am trying to write a script that will take a dictionary of items, each containing properties of values from 0 - 10, and add the various elements to select which combination of items achieve the desired totals. I also need the script to do this, using only items that have the same "slot" in common. • ISBNs are used as primary key, now I want to add non-book things to the DB - should I migrate to EAN

  I built an inventory database where ISBN numbers are the primary keys for the items. This worked great for a while as the items were books. Now I want to add non-books. some of the non-books have EANs or ISSNs, some do not. It's in PostgreSQL with django apps for the frontend and JSON api, plus a few supporting python command-line tools for management. the items in question are mostly books and artist prints, some of which are self-published. What is nice about using ISBNs as primary keys is that in on top of relational integrity, you get lots of handy utilities for validating ISBNs, automatically looking up missing or additional information on the book items, etcetera, many of which I've taken advantage. some such tools are off-the-shelf (PyISBN, PyAWS etc) and some are hand-rolled -- I tried to keep all of these parts nice and decoupled, but you know how things can get. I couldn't find anything online about 'private ISBNs' or 'self-assigned ISBNs' but that's the sort of thing I was interested in doing. I doubt that's what I'll settle on, since there is already an apparent run on ISBN numbers. should I retool everything for EAN numbers, or migrate off ISBNs as primary keys in general? if anyone has any experience with working with these systems, I'd love to hear about it, your advice is most welcome.

• Parsing a JSON feed from YQL using jQuery

  I am using YQL's query.multi to grab multiple feeds so I can parse a single JSON feed with jQuery and reduce the number of connections I'm making. In order to parse a single feed, I need to be able to check the type of result (photo, item, entry, etc) so I can pull out items in specific ways. Because of the way the items are nested within the JSON feed, I'm not sure the best way to loop through the results and check the type and then loop through the items to display them. • Moving front page (cursebird or foursquare)

  Ok so I'll be honest, I have a good amount of experience with php/mysql, I've just started learning jQuery and I've done very little, but some with ajax. So using the terms ajax/jquery interchangeably are a bit confusing to me. Anyway as the title suggest I have a website with 5 items, and I want them to move (meaning, if a more recent one is entered, remove the last item, and put the new one on top), they are 5 of the most recent items in the database table, now I've coded jquery as a test so it fades out the last one, the whole thing moves down, makes room at the top, and fades in a new one. However, it's a test and has 0 interaction with the database, the one that fades in is just in a hidden div. So the jQuery part is taken care of. So I'm unsure how to go about this, I was thinking maybe have ajax check a website off the page that has those 5 items in raw format, and if they change then to refresh? Not looking for a "plz code 4 me" answer, just the concept of how it would work, or some links to get off to the right start. edit - Also, the 5 items are ranked, so if I click item 3 I need it to move above item 2 refreshlessly, so this causes a whole other issue I assume.

• Database table relationships: Always also relate to specified value (Linq to SQL in .NET Framework)

  I really can not describe my question better in the title. If anyone has suggestions: Please tell! I use the Linq to SQL framework in .NET. I ran into something which could be easily solved if the framework supported this, it would be a lot of extra coding otherwise: I have a n to n relation with a helper table in between. Those tables are: Items, places and the connection table which relates items to places and the other way. One item can be found in many places, so can one place have many items. Now of course there will be many items which will be in ALL places. Now there is a problem: Places can always be added. So I need a place-ID which encompasses ALL places, always. Like maybe a place-id "0". If the helper table has a row with the place-id of zero, this should be visible in all places. In SQL this would be a simple "Where [...] or place-id = 0", but how do I do this in Linq relations? Also, for a little side question: How could I manage "all but this place" kind of exclusions?
