  • Detect frameworks and/or CMS utilized on websites in Firefox

    I'm redesigning the website for my academic library and am examining other sites to determine to identify the technologies used. Things like: Web frameworks Javascript frameworks Server-side technology Content management system Now I've had some real success in Firefox using plugins like Wappalyzer, Firebug, and the DOM Inspector. But some sites just don't display any of the info. I'm looking for using these tools, especially it seems it an enterprise-level CMS is being used. Does anyone know of any other tools to detect this kind of data? Also with Firebug & the DOM Inspector, there is a lot of info. displayed and I wondered if there was a way to derive the presence of server-side technologies, CMS's, etc. within certain elements of a web page?     Just thought I’d pass on the word that the Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 Beta is now available to download. VS2010 SP1 Beta ships with a go live license which means you can start using it for production work though I’m not sure I’m going to be that brave until I check it out a bit first. Jason Zanders has a blog post outlining the new features/fixes included in the beta. Here are a couple BREAKING news items you’ll want to TakeNote of… VS2010 SP1 Beta BREAKS ASP.NET MVC 3 RC Razor IntelliSense. A new ASP.NET MVC 3 RC2 installer will be released very soon that will allow you to upgrade in-place. VS2010 SP1 Beta BREAKS the Visual Studio Async CTP. A work around is being worked on but for now if you’re working with the Async CTP then stick with VS2010 RTM. Have a day.

  • Propertygrid changes not picked up when using menu shortcut for saving

    I am trying to implement a simple windows forms application, where the user can edit instances of a simple Person class. The application makes use of the standard propertygrid, assigning instances of the Person class to the SelectedObject property of the propertygrid. When the user clicks the menu item Save, the application gets the selected item from the propertygrid and saves it. This works fine. However, if a shortcut such as ctrl+S, assigned to the menu item, is used for saving the SelectedObject of the propertygrid, then the changes are not picked up. It appears to be related to the fact that the properties of the Person object are not updated unless the field in the propertygrid looses focus, and the ctrl+S shortcut doesn’t take away focus from fields in the propertygrid. Other developers, such as Mark Gilbert, have solved this issue by forcing away focus from the propertygrid, but this seems to be a bit of a hack, especially since it would be nice to keep the focus at the field. The Visual Studio developers apparently got it right, but I haven’t figured out how.

  • how to customize django admin for clickable list_editable

    Hi all, Currently, i have a class MyAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin), and i have a field in there called name, which belongs to both list_editable and list_display. The current behavior is such that all fields that is in list_editable displays a form field. However, i would like to change that only when people click on the field would it turn into a editable form field. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to do that (which template to edit etc.). Thank you very much! Jason

    Hi all, I would like to display priority information in a drop down. Currently i am using a integer field to store the priority, but i would like to display high/medium/low instead of letting user type in a priority. A way to approximate this is to use a Priority database which stores 3 elements, 1:high, 2:medium, 3:low, but it seems like an overkill. Any easier way would be much appreciated! Jason
