• How to install DBD::mysql on OS X Server 10.6?

  Trying to install DBD::mysql on OS X Server 10.6 (mac mini server). But I'm missing the mysql headers apparently. Since mysql is already part of OS X Server 10.6, I would like to NOT install anything else (no fink or darwin ports installs), just whatever's needed to get DBD::mysql installed and working. Do you know how I could do that? Do I have to install the headers somewhere? And if so, where? (again: I don't want to install another version of mysql on the box, want to use the version it came with). Is there a way to install DBD::mysql without compiling any C files? This is the error I get (the actual error is much longer, but these are the most meaningful bits, this is the first error reported). Checking if your kit is complete... • Creating a (ClickOnce) setup for VSTO Outlook Add-in

  So I created an Outlook Add-in and used the click-once setup to deploy it. The setup runs fine when the user is administrator, but otherwise: no go. Running the setup with "run as..." and logging in as admin works, but than the add-in is installed under the admin, not the current user. The addin doesn't show up in outlook. • Problem registering a COM server written for Excel registered on client machine (can't set full path

  In this previous question <How to get COM Server for Excel written in VB.NET installed and registered in Automation Servers list? there is an example of how to create the full path to a registry key using VS 2008. Everything in the previous answer works correctly except the full path that I am setting (using the registry editor in VS) for mscoree.dll is not working (meaning it seems to do nothing). The full registry path is: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{my_GUID}\InprocServer32(default) and the value I am setting is: [SystemFolder]mscoree.dll I can put anything (including hardcoding the full path) but the setting does not seem to matter and the registry always contains mscoree.dll without any path. I have tried adding another value to the registry path via VS and that works correctly including having the full path as specified by [SystemFolder]. The reason I need the full path (as explained in the previous question) is that without the path, Excel generates an error when the automation server is selected as it cannot find mscoree.dll (interestingly even though I receive an error the registration works OK). I am doing the install via a setup project which otherwise works fine. I am installing on a VISTA*64 system but have gotten the same error on other OS's. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

  To pop up the UAC dialog in Vista when writing to the HKLM registry hive, we opt to not use the Win32 Registry API, as when Vista permissions are lacking, we'd need to relaunch our entire application with administrator rights. Instead, we do this trick: ShellExecute(hWnd, "runas" /* display UAC prompt on Vista */, windir + "\\Reg", "add HKLM\\Software\\Company\\KeyName /v valueName /t REG_MULTI_TZ /d ValueData", NULL, SW_HIDE); This solution works fine, besides that our application is a 32-bit one, and it runs the REG.EXE command as it would be a 32-bit app using the WOW compatibility layer! :( If REG.EXE is ran from the command line, it's properly ran in 64-bit mode. This matters, because if it's ran as a 32-bit app, the registry keys will end up in the wrong place due to registry reflection. So is there any way to launch a 64-bit app programmatically from a 32-bit app and not have it run using the WOW64 subsystem like its parent 32-bit process (i.e. a "*" suffix in the Task Manager)?

• In need of a Smarter Environmental Package Configuration

  I am trying to set up a package template in SSIS, following the Wrox Programmer to Programmer book, SQL Server 2008 Integration Services: Problem - Design - Solution. I'm really liking this book even though it is 2008 and we're using SQL Server 2005. I've got a working package template that uses an Indirect XML package configuration to identify what environment (local developer, dev, QA, production, etc) the package is being run in. That locates the SQL Server package configuration for the environment. That set-up is great and all except for the environment variable at the very front of it all. My team would prefer it if the package could use the same environment resource locator as all our other applications and tools use, so we don't two environment markers with essentially the same information in them. Normally we look up a registry key in HKey_Local_Machine but the Registry Package Configuration type only lets you look up the HKey_Current_User registries. My first thought was to write a new Package Configuration Type class that extends the Registry type; after all we'd had such luck writing our own custom log provider. SSIS is super extendable, right? So there doesn't seem to be a way to write your own Package Configuration Types. Is there still some way I can configure my SSIS SQL Server package configuration from a HKLM registry key connection string? If this is not possible, what other workarounds are available? My idea is to write a PowerShell script that will create/modify the Environment Variable that the package will use by fetching the connection string from the registry. This way there's still two markers, but at least then it's automatically maintained and automated. Is this kind of workaround necessary? Thank you for your time.

• Can't enable apache mod on emerge

  I want to add mod_proxy and mod_proxy_http to Apache server on my Gentoo, but apparently some file with high priority on the system is disabling the mods and preventing me to install. I am currently editing /usr/portage/profiles/base/make.defaults file, but it gets updated (and changes lost) every time I update the system. I have to edit it every time I update the system/reinstall Apache. Besides that, I have already added dependencies to the /etc/portage/package.use file: www-servers/apache proxy proxy_http What other files do I have do change or should check flags so I can enable proxy and do not have to edit files again every time?

• Windows Explorer view style via GPO or registry edit

  I'm having some difficulty adjusting the default view style in windows explorer (e.g. list, detail, large icon, small icon). There does not seem to be any pre-baked GPOs for this and next to no documentation on the subject outside of using GUI configuration tools built into windows explorer. Does anyone know the specific registry keys that need to be edited for this? I've already taken a look at HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Settings but the adjustments I've made there don't seem to make any change on their own.

• Non-Registry Fix for Secondary Mailboxes Sent Items

  There is a known issue with Outlook and Exchange where "secondary" mailboxes which are mounted in the same profile, e.g. "John Doe" + CorpMailbox1, CorpMailbox2, CorpMailbox3 will place "sent items" from the secondary mailboxes (e.g. CorpMailbox1) in the user's (e.g. "John Doe") Sent Items folder. There is a registry value (something like DelegateSentItems) to semi-fix this, but I'm looking for an Exchange-side solution. It seems like, at some point, an admin made CC rules to fix this, and for the mailboxes where I see a BCC rule: any item sent to [address] BCC to [address]. The behavior "fixes" the issue, but when I duplicate this work-around for new shared mailboxes, the email ends up in the Inbox and not the Sent Items for the shared mailbox. I don't believe there is any outlook/client-side shenanigans going on, as the intended behavior for the older mailboxes works for new PCs/Users (new imagse) without any Outlook Mailbox Rules.

• How can I override mod-php5's .php mapping to php4-cgi per VirtualHost or Directory?

  I am running Debian Linux with apache2 and libapache2-mod-php5 5.3.3-7. I have one VirtualHost which requires php4. So I researched and compiled php4-cgi. However, I cannot seem to: Override mod-php5's mapping of .php in that vhost (or even globally, without disabling php completley). Even find where that mapping is made, in hope of disabling it and enabling mod-php5 or php4-cgi per vhost. This is my php4-cgi mapping (Inside the one php4 vhost): ScriptAlias /php4 /usr/local/php4/bin <Directory /usr/local/php4/bin> Options +ExecCGI +FollowSymLinks </Directory> <Directory /www/test> AddHandler php4-cgi-script .php Action php4-cgi-script /php4/php Options +ExecCGI </Directory> This does not work, mod-php5 still runs all .php files in that vhost/directory. If I change the file extension in the AddHandler above from .php to .php4, then .php4 files do run php4-cgi as expected, but I can't change all the files in the app to .php4. I thought maybe I could disable the mod-php5's mapping in my vhost or directory, then do my cgi-config (as above) but many combinations of these in different contexts did not work: RemoveHandler .php RemoveType .php php_flag engine off (this seems to even disable my php4-cgi so that wont work) The only other place I can find any mapping is in /etc/mime.types, but commenting out the relevant lines and restarting apache2 does not affect mod-php5's .php mapping. • Yum Update fails due to conflicting perl packages

  Hi I have a CentOS 5.2 i386 Production box with Qmail, LAMP etc now since it showed me that it could upgrade to 5.3, i downloaded all the packages using yum update However, the update fails due to perl packages conflicting I believe that while installing Qmail, I had tried for Mailscanner and thus it upgraded the per itself I read somewhere that we can uninstall the conflicting rpms and then go for the upgrade But, I am about 50 % sure that if I go ahead and uninstall perl, my server will crash like a falling house of cards Also, perl is needed by variety of packages working including vpopmail etc Thus, I request anyone to please tell me if we have a safer solution to this IF there is no solution to this, then can somebody please teach me how to backup and restore Qmail as it is. I can handle the rest of the things I sincerely appreciate those who have read and even thought about my problem In anticipation of a solution Regards amRit

  How do you resolve the error svn: access to '/repos/!svn/vcc/default' forbidden? I recently upgraded a Fedora 13 server to 16, and now I'm trying to debug an access error with a Subversion server running on using Apache with mod_dav_svn. Running: svn ls http://myserver/repos/myproject/trunk Lists the correct files. • How to INF mod: Replacing 32bit dlls with 64bits

  I've got a driver setup for 32 bit: An INF file and an x86 folder with two 32 bit dlls. I need to replace these 32 bit dll files with 64 bit ones. I just simply overwrite 32 bit files but no lock. How can I make 64 bit version of the driver?   So I ran apt-get install httperf on my system and I can now run httperf. But how can I run 'autobench'? I downloaded the file and unarchived it and if I go in it and run autobench it says -bash command not found I think it's a perl script but if I run perl autobench, it says: root@example:/tmp/autobench-2.1.2# perl autobench Autobench configuration file not found - installing new copy in /root/.autobench.conf cp: cannot stat `/etc/autobench.conf': No such file or directory Installation complete - please rerun autobench Even if I run it again it says the same thing.

  I'm trying to install VMware-vSphere-CLI-5.0.0-422456.x86_64 onto CentOS 6.0 64bit, but the installer complains: CPAN not able to install following Perl modules on the system. These must be installed manually for use by vSphere CLI: UUID 0.03 or newer I tried to do sudo yum install uuid-perl and also sudo yum install perl-SOAP-Lite perl-Data-Dump perl-Class-MethodMaker perl-Crypt-SSLeay perl-libxml-perl perl-XML-LibXML-Common but this doesn't help. What else can I try to do?

• How to parse a CSV file containing serialized PHP? [migrated]

  I've just started dabbling in Perl, to try and gain some exposure to different programming languages - so forgive me if some of the following code is horrendous. I needed a quick and dirty CSV parser that could receive a CSV file, and split it into file batches containing "X" number of CSV lines (taking into account that entries could contain embedded newlines). I came up with a working solution, and it was going along just fine. However, as one of the CSV files that I'm trying to split, I came across one that contains serialized PHP code. This seems to break the CSV parsing. As soon as I remove the serialization - the CSV file is parsed correctly. Are there any tricks I need to know when it comes to parsing serialized data in CSV files? Would a more appropriate error message be "You cannot use a class consuming the role that you are currently defining " ? What does the error message try to convey ? Can the author make the error message meaningful ? Will he ever make it so ? maybe this can be planned for version 3.14159265358979323846 ? In actuality I get one and a half pages of error which is completely unreadable and devoid of any logic or sense of respect for the user that is using Moose (in terms of intuitive error messages) just like the one above. What's to be done in this case ? I mean I get on my screen these error messages that are sometimes completely unrelated to the problem that I'm having (which I can assess after solving the problems that probably caused them, I say probably becuase I have no idea where these error messages came from because they look like they fell from the sky as they have no relation to the actual situation). Is this: the inexplicable dramatic destiny of the Perl programmer using Moose ? someone being extremely lazy and sloppy at writing error messages ? maybe on heavy drugs ? me not understanding basic english ? Gentlemen, when writing software, please please please, take care of the poor programmer that will use it and respect him by writing relevant error messages. (Except for error messages Moose is a pretty good piece of software)
