• How to Merge Data From Multiple Excel Files into a Single Excel File or Access Database?

  I have a few dozen excel files which are all of the same format (i.e. 4 worksheets per Excel file). I need to combine all the files into 1 master file which must have just 2 of the 4 worksheets. The corresponding worksheets from each Excel file are named exactly the same as are the column headers. While each file is structured the same, the information within sheet 1 and 2 (for example) is different. So it can’t be combined into one file with everything in one sheet! I've never used VBA before and I'm wondering where I might start this task!

• How can I anonymize my browser useragent, yet still be counted as a FF/Ubuntu user?

  I read about EFF's Panopticlick project to see how unique your webbrowser's headers are. I would like to anonymize that a bit. My current User Agent is Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100106 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.7 I would like to make that more anonymous, however I still wanted to be counted as a Firefox and Ubuntu user. How can I change my User Agent in Firefox? What should I change it to so that it's less unique, but will be counted as a Firefox user and a Ubuntu user on web analytics software? I know that there is no guarantee that I will be counted a Firefox/Ubuntu user, just something that 'works most of the time' would be sufficent.

• Yahoo toolbar and local sites (e.g. Intranet)

  We have local sites running on IIS in regular MS Windows network. User base has IE, FireFox and Chrome. Local sites are isolated by host headers and DNS record created for the common IP accordingly. This is a regular set-up. Users without Yahoo Toolbar type http://intranet and the sites resolves. Users with Yahoo toolbar type http://intranet and the toolbar goes off to search for this site in public domain. This is irrespective to whether the address is typed into the browser address bar or the toolbar. All versions of toolbar and IE are affected. I cannot see a setting on the toolbar to switch this "irritating" behaviour off and simply un-installing the toolbar is not an option. Any ideas?

• How to pipe differently the body of the curl answer and the printed output?

  I would like to print in the command line some output of curl, like the http headers, followed by the body of the answer processed by a stdin/stdout program. For instance: Print the status code: curl -s -w "%{http_code} \\n" -o "/dev/null" http://myURL.com And then process the output with a json parsing tool: curl -s http://myURL.com | python -mjson.tool I would like to do both with one command, and I have the feeling that it may be possible thanks to the -o option that makes the difference between the output of curl and the actual answer from the query. The problem is that -o writes directly to a file. Somebody's got a hack?

• Renaming Nginx 1.3.5 Server: response header

  In nginx 1.2 & 1.3 you can modify the source to change the name: src/http/ngx_http_header_filter_module.c (lines 48 and 49): static char ngx_http_server_string[] = "Server: Not Nginx" CRLF; static char ngx_http_server_full_string[] = "Server: Not Nginx/1.0" CRLF; Renaming those and recompiling the source changes the server response name in nginx 1.2. However doing this in 1.3 does not seem to change the name. It still says nginx/1.3.5 and with server_tokens off; it just says nginx. How can I change the server name in 1.3 without installing the 3rd party addon headers more? I want to compile from source.

  When first visiting my site after not visiting it for a few minutes, the connection is "reset" 100% of the time. I get this message when debug is turned on, along with a 400 bad request status message: client prematurely closed connection while reading client request line I've read that this could be caused by large_client_header_buffers setting. I have google analytics on my site. Using live http headers, I get this as the request: `GET /__utm.gif?utmwv=5.3.7&utms=35&utmn=745612186&utmhn=domain.com&utmcs=UTF-8&utmsr=1920x1080&utmvp=1841x903&utmsc=24-bit&utmul=en-us&utmje=1&utmfl=11.4%20r402&utmdt=2006Scape%20Forums%20-%20General&utmhid=2004697163&utmr=0&utmp=%2Fservices%2Fforums%2Fboard.ws%3F3%2C4&utmac=UA-25674897-2&utmcc=__utma%3D68455186.1647889527.1351640625.1352446442.1352451659.100%3B%2B__utmz%3D68455186.1352097329.64.2.utmcsr%3Ddomain.com%7Cutmccn%3D(referral)%7Cutmcmd%3Dreferral%7Cutmcct%3D%2Fservices%2Fforums%2Fboard.ws%3B&utmu=q~ HTTP/1.1 my large_client_header_buffers in nginx is set to 4 8k, so I don't know if this is the problem. • Is there an easily configurable way to inject data into IIS 6 SMTP logs?

  I am using IIS 6 SMTP server to send out some mail on our behalf. I am also storing each message we send in a SQL table - with a UUID representing each message. I would like to be able to inject additional data into the SMTP logs located in SMTPSVC1 - an additional field which would contain this UUID in the event of a RCPT cs-method call. This is so that I can check a one-to-one relationship between messages sent in SQL and messages actually sent through SMTP. If possible, I would like to avoid writing a C++ custom logger as some sites I've viewed have suggested. Is there an easily configurable way to inject this data into IIS 6 logs? Even if it was only the ability to perform a regex on the data/headers of the outgoing email, that would be enough. Thanks!

• X server not starting up after new kernel compilation

  I have compiled the Kernel on my 64-bit Debian XPS Studio 1340 Dell system. srikanth@debian:~ - 05:40:52 PM - $ uname -a Linux debian 2.6.32-5-amd64 #1 SMP Thu Mar 22 17:26:33 UTC 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux Kernel version that I have used and compiled from kernel.org is 2.6.35.13 I have nvidia installed on old kernel. I got the old config and I used the same config to compile the new kernel. Everything went well and I got two debian packages ( image and headers ) which I have installed on my system. When I select the new kernel on the boot menu and I go into it, the X server is not starting up possibly because I have to "rebuild" ( not sure how to do that ) according to this link: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/x-server-not-starting-after-kernel-compilation-605265/ Can you suggest how to do the rebuild on nvidia module so that I can start x ( without seeing any blank screen or error saying nvidia module is missing ) ? • DKIM, spam probability, signing with key at mail server vs sender domain?

  I'm working on an email marketing tool and so far we've been recommending our customers to set up an SPF-record (Sender-ID) and a DKIM-record, we also have our own SPF-record on the mail server and a shared DKIM-record for those who do not set up their own DKIM-record. Those that do not set up their own DKIM-records still pass the DKIM-test, but with the notice that "identity doesn't match any headers" (according to port25), i.e, it doesn't match the textual sender domain. But does anyone know if this "discrepancy" actually has any impact on spam scoring/probability, i.e, should we continue to recommend our customers to set up a DKIM-record (as opposed to just using our shared) or is just wasted effort?

  I have noticed my remote server returns $_SERVER[REDIRECT_STATUS] with every request. Example: [REDIRECT_STATUS] = 200 But my localhost wamp server does not. Interestingly, when I manually set a header: Example: header('HTTP/1.1 302 Redirect This'); The variable: $_SERVER[REDIRECT_STATUS] is still not set. Though I can view the headers, including the one I set, with HttpFox. $_SERVER[REDIRECT_STATUS] is set when .htaccess throws(?) an ErrorDocument, like ErrorDocument 404 for example. Any ideas how to get wamp server to set the variable $_SERVER[REDIRECT_STATUS] with every request?

• Strange PHP output buffering

Both respond numbers 0...9 in every line. In case of first server each number is received every second. In case of second server there is no output for 10 seconds and entire output is displayed at once. What might be wrong int second case? I tried various uutput control Functions but it didn't help. • Make download dialog show up for pictures in IIS 6.0

  I have a client that is offering picture downloads from their site. They want the user to have to download the picture, rather than having it appear in the browser when the link is clicked. Inserting the text "Right-click to save as" or something similar isn't an option with this client, as everything needs to be done their way. Now, I know I could accomplish this task in PHP or ASP, but I'd rather not have to write an addition to Magento to accomplish this. So is there a way in IIS 6.0 (Server 2003) to send the correct headers for image formats in that it will make a download dialog pop up?

  Hello, I have window 2003 100mbps server, i have tried using php script such as php indexer, zina pancake.org and others. The php script use to serve download such as images and music songs. I personally have 20mbps internet speed. When i use the php script (download pass thru PHP headers) , it will download at constant speed of 30-40KBps. I have tried different webserver such as apache 1.3, apache 2.2, abyss webserver & lighttpd for windows. The speed while relying on php is same constant 30-40KBps however when i tried direct link/straight from apache, the speed is 1MB/s. Is there any settings in Window 2003 Registry or PHP should i change to make the download speed is more faster when going thru PHP?

It seems like my problem is that nginx is looking at the request headers for the cookie value. Is there a way check for a Set-Cookie in the response and use that as a fallback?

• Empty mails received from Plesk-driven server

  From my Plesk managed server I keep receiving emails addressed to the configured administrator (me). Nothing special there. These mails are sent from an empty sender with no body, no subject nor any other relevant headers. I have changed the server administrator's e-mail address to an alternate one which is then the recipient. The mails are sent at irregular intervals. With variations in the timestamp I get an email every 30 minutes. Then there's a break and two and a half hours later I get the same email. I already have turned of crond for more than a day to see if this is the source of the problem. On that server there is no "foreign" software running which would cause that behavior. I have no more guesses as to why this is happening. Any suggestions?

• Can't get IIS6 to setup properly.

  I am trying to setup a website on a Windows 2003 R2 box. So I cranked up IIS, clicked on Web Sites, created a new website and setup the host headers for my domain. No matter what I did, I kept getting Service Unavailable errors. Finally, I followed the instructions in this link, and it worked. Basically, the page recommends switching to IIS5 isolation mode. I don't really understand why it works and I don't understand why it didn't work before. If someone could enlighten me, that would be great. Bonus for explaining how to do with the IIS6 isolation mode.

• Forwarding subdomain to different port on Windows IIS 7

  I have a IIS 7 server with Plesk setup on a Windows 2008 R2 server and I have created a subdomain sub1.domain.com, which by default leads to my webserver on port 80, but I don't want that. I want the subdomain to lead to my port 25566 instead (for a Minecraft server), how can I accomplish this? I tried this with host headers / bindings but that resulted in a port already in use warning. How can I do this? How can I make my sub1.domain.com lead to IP.IP.IP.IP:25566? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I have a shell account where I am not allowed to compile anything. There are however tools I need to run, some very simple ones like Midnight Commander, mcedit, most, jed I am trying to find a staically linked version that "just works" in my shell. Could anyone give me any advice on where I could find statically builds? I have not been able to find it with google. I could compile it myself, but I would have to find out which headers I need to compile for. I have never tried to do it before, so any help would be greatly apprechiated! • Decrypting a TrueCrypt drive pulled from another machine

  I work in a corporate environment and we are now required to encrypt laptops. I have already encrypted about 5 or 6 out of 40. I still have a few questions before we go all out with TrueCrypt. Can I decrypt a hard drive by plugging it into my desktop using a data transfer kit? I tried this and the hard drive showed up asking me to format before using the volume. If I have the TRD from each laptop backed up do I still need to backup the volume headers? What else do I need to back up? Thanks.

• 500 internal server error php long running process

  I am trying to run a long php process and it ends with the 500 internal server error. It executes fine for about 8 mins. I have rebooted the machine after changing the php settings. PHP Config: max_execution_time: 3600 After around 10 mins ps ax|grep php: 19007 ? S 0:08 /usr/bin/php /home/gypsy/public_html/index.php I have set the ignore_user_abort true. The process gets stuck at 00:08 min and isn't executed further. Apache error log shows the error: Script timed out before returning headers: index.php It seems somehow the max_execution_time isn't working. Any suggestion would be a great help.

• Compiling Apache 2.2.11 on AIX 6.1, .so files not genereated

I am using the configure options: ./configure \ --enable-module=rewrite\ --enable-module=log_referer\ --with-included-apr \ --enable-proxy \ --enable-ssl=shared \ --with-ssl=/usr \ --prefix=/PATH/apache \ --enable-so \ --enable-mods-shared="proxy proxy_http proxy_connect headers mod_proxy mod_ssl" The configure, followed by the make/make install processes all run without error of any kind. However, when I look int he modules directory for the /PATH/modules directory there are no .so files created. Sadly because of the nature of what I am doing, and the business I am in, I am locked into the software versions as described.

• Motherboard not recognizing memory anymore

  I bought some new RAM and installed it on my motherboard. But, the BIOS would not post. There's an LED on my motherboard that shows error codes, and it showed the error: No usable memory detected. So, I removed the new memory and reinstalled the old memory, thus restoring the computer back to its original configuration. But, the BIOS still would not post, still giving the error: No usable memory detected. I've ensured that the memory and power headers are seated properly. I've tried all possible combinations of memory slots, and I've also reset the CMOS, but the error remains the same. The computer was working fine before I tried upgrading the memory, and I originally assembled the computer myself. What are some possible causes of this problem?
