complete Looks like the SATA interface tries to use 6Gbps link, then fails miserably and Linux fallbacks to 3Gbps. This is somewhat fine for me, as the system boots successfully each time and works under high load (cd linux-3.2.8; make -j16). I've also ran memtest86+ and it did not find any errors. What concerns me more is that Grub sometimes takes a long time to load the images and/or fails to load itself completely. The error is consistent and is probablistic: that is, each time I boot I have a certain chance to fail. Actually, I have a slight suspiction on the cause of the failure. Look at the cabling: What kind of engineer does it this way? Nah. Even 1Gbps Ethernet hardly tolerates cables bent over a small angle, and there you have 6Gbps SATA. How cound I determine and fix the cause of errors and/or switch the link to 3Gbps mode permanently?

If a customer doesn't have flash installed, it doesn't display any messages, it simply doesn't show any graphs.   Hi I have a UITableViewController where I added a "editButtonItem" in the navigation bar : self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; No magic here, but I try to define the color (background and foreground/textcolor) of this button. I read in the Apple forum somewhere that the button changes the color if I change the navigationbar to the same color, well despite the fact that I do not get this to work either (for testing) I do not want to touch the navigationbr itself, just the button.   I have a dataframe which contains (among other things) a numeric column with a concentration, and a factor column with a status flag. This status flag contains NA's. Here's an example df<-structure(list(conc = c(101.769, 1.734, 62.944, 92.697, 25.091, 27.377, 24.343, 55.084, 0.335, 23.280), status = structure(c(NA, NA, NA, NA, NA, NA, 2L, NA, 1L, NA), .Label = c("<LLOQ", "NR"), class = "factor")), .Names = c("conc", "status"), row.names = c(NA, -10L), class = "data.frame") I want to replace the concentration column with a string for some values of the flag column, or with the concentration value formatted to a certain number of significant digits. When I try this ifelse(df$status=="NR","NR",df$conc) The NA's in the status flag don't trigger either the true or false condition (and return NA) - as the documentation suggests it will. I could loop over the rows and use IF then else on each one but this seems inefficient. Am I missing something ? I've tried as.character(df$status) as well which doesn't work. My mojo must be getting low....

• Can I use an opened gzip file with Popen in Python?

  I have a little command line tool that reads from stdin. On the command line I would run either... ./foo < bar or ... cat bar | ./foo With a gziped file I can run zcat bar.gz | ./foo in Python I can do ... Popen(["./foo", ], stdin=open('bar'), stdout=PIPE, stderr=PIPE) but I can't do import gzip Popen(["./foo", ], stdin=gzip.open('bar'), stdout=PIPE, stderr=PIPE) I wind up having to run p0 = Popen(["zcat", "bar"], stdout=PIPE, stderr=PIPE) Popen(["./foo", ], stdin=p0.stdout, stdout=PIPE, stderr=PIPE) Am I doing something wrong? Why can't I use gzip.open('bar') as an stdin arg to Popen?

• In Rails: How can I turn off caching for a particular activerecord database table?

  I have an associative table (scripts_runs) (has_many, through) that carries a status column ('started', 'ready to parse', 'completed' ). The started and ready to parse states are signaled by 'flag' files from distributed executions of the scripts pickedup periodically (20 seconds). The completed status is written directly to the associative table by the parser when it is done. With short scripts the complete status is written before the ready to parse flag file is picked up. Because the row from the table is cached, the complete status is not seen by the observer for the flag files and gets overwritten by the ready to parse status. This is not good. I need the status to be updated in the database in the correct sequence so an Ajax periodic query can inform the user of the status of each script and when the run ( consisting of one to many scripts ) is completed. Can I force the ScriptRun.find(:id) to always go to the database? If so how? If not, why not???

  All of the examples I've seen on here and other sites involved creating a UIActivityIndicatorView and loading it with something like: self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:myActivityIndicatorView target:nil action:nil] autorelease]; However, that just creates a plain activity indicator in the navigation bar. What I want to do is have a button that looks just like the normal UIBarButtonSystemItem buttons but with an activity indicator instead of one of the default images. I've tried doing initWithImage and initWithTitle with nil images or titles and then adding the activity indicator as a subview, but that doesn't work. Any ideas?

  Is there any sense to set custom object to null(Nothing in VB.NET) in the Dispose() method? Could this prevent memory leaks or it's useless?!   I have created a jquery plugin which is triggering an event: $.fn.myplugin = function(options) { this.on("foo.myplugin", options.foo); this.on("bar.myplugin", options.bar); }; I want to check if foo has been canceled by a user and prevent bar from being triggered: // trigger foo this.trigger("foo.myplugin"); // how do I check if foo was canceled if( !fooCanceled ) { this.trigger("bar.myplugin"); } How can I check if foo was canceled to prevent bar from being triggered? jQuery UI does something similar to this, but it did not work when I tried: if (this._trigger("search", event) === false) { return; } I tried something similar to this: if( this.trigger("foo.myplugin") === false ) { return; } this.trigger("bar.myplugin"); But bar was still being triggered.

• Get only latest row, grouped by a column

  I have a large data-set of emails sent and status-codes. ID Recipient Date Status 1 [email protected] 01/01/2010 1 2 [email protected] 02/01/2010 1 3 [email protected] 01/01/2010 1 4 [email protected] 02/01/2010 2 5 [email protected] 03/01/2010 1 6 [email protected] 01/01/2010 1 7 [email protected] 02/01/2010 2 In this example: all emails sent to someone have a status of 1 the middle email (by date) sent to them has a status of 2, but the latest is 1 the last email sent to others has a status of 2 What I need to retrieve is a count of all emails sent to each person, and what the latest status code was. The first part is fairly simple: SELECT Recipient, Count(*) EmailCount FROM Messages GROUP BY Recipient ORDER BY Recipient Which gives me: Recipient EmailCount [email protected] 2 [email protected] 3 [email protected] 2 How can I get the most recent status code too? The end result should be: Recipient EmailCount LastStatus [email protected] 2 1 [email protected] 3 1 [email protected] 2 2 Thanks. (Server is Microsoft SQL Server 2008, query is being run through an OleDbConnection in .Net)

• PHP access class inside another class

  So I have two classes like this: class foo { /* code here */ } $foo = new foo(); class bar { global $foo; public function bar () { echo $foo->something(); } } I want to access the methods of foo inside all methods bar, without declaring it in each method inside bar, like this: class bar { public function bar () { global $foo; echo $foo->something(); } public function barMethod () { global $foo; echo $foo->somethingElse(); } /* etc */ } I don't want to extend it, either. I tried using the var keyword, but it didn't seem to work. What do I do in order to access the other class "foo" inside all methods of bar?

• The document.body.innerHTML.replace() replaces the url in the address bar.

  I am trying to make an extension as part of which i want certain words in the web pages to be highlighted. The document.body.innerHTML.replace() replaces the url in the address bar as well. So the moment this code gets exwecuted the page doesnt get loaded properly.. • UISearchBar in UINavigationBar with ScopeBar

  I am trying to put a UISearchBar inside of the UINavigationBar, which I am able to do without much problem. The problem is that I have logic when editing to show the Scope Bar. This all works fine, with one exception. The navigation bar tries to center the UISearchBar inside of the title view. This causes the search bar to move up above the navigation bar. I tried adding some logic to set the frame of the search bar so that it just draws overtop of my main view, which is fine. I can only set the height, which causes the search bar to draw over the view just fine, but it isn't wide enough to cover the whole screen. If I set the width on the frame, it goes back to the same behavior of trying to center the UISearchBar on the navigation bar. Anyone know how I can accomplish this? Thanks, Nick

• How to Get Search Bar in Tableview to Appear When User Taps Search Icon at the top of sectionIndex s

  I have a tableview with an indexed scrollbar on the right side that shows the letters A-Z and has a magnifying glass icon at the top ({search}). All of the letters in the scrollbar appropriately take the user to the corresponding section except for the magnifying glass, which takes the user to "A" and keeps the searchBar hidden. I just want it to go to the very top of the table so that the searchBar shows up when the user taps the magnifying glass icon in the scroll bar. I've been looking all over for ways to do this, but I can't find any way shy of adding the searchBar to the first tableCell and it's own section, which I'd prefer not to do unless it's the only way. • How to change the icon in the title bar in R?

  I just installed R 2.11.0-x64 onto my Windows 7 Professional machine. With my previous installations of R (2.10.1 32 bit was the most recent) the little icon that appeared in the title bar and in the taskbar at the bottom of windows was the R "R." Now however, the icon almost looks like a small windows Task Manager. I know this isn't a code issue, but it affects me as I flip between windows. Is there a way to put the "R" icon back in there? Would it be an R setting or a Windows setting?

  I want to fetch posts based on their status, so I have this code inside my PostsController index action. It seems to be cluttering the index action, though, and I'm not sure it belongs here.
