• Printing and exporting from Crystal Reports Viewer throws error

  I'm using the .net Crystal Reports viewer to display a report. This works properly, but when I click on the print option, and then click "OK" on the options popup, I get the following error: Access is denied. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Access is denied. And the same thing when I try to export. I'm running this on the Visual Studio development server, VS2008. What can I do to correct this?

• web design PSD to html -> more direct ways?

  At work I see one colleague designing a site in Photoshop/Fireworks, I see another taking this data, slicing it up and using Dreamweaver to rebuild the same from scratch. It seems like too much mucking around! I know that Photoshop can output a tables based HTML, and Fireworks will create divs with absolute positioning; neither appear to be very helpful. Admittedly, I haven't tried much of (DW/FW) (CS4/CS3) since becoming a programmer, so I don't know if new versions are addressing this work flow issue, but are we still double handling things? Can we attach some sort of layout metadata (this is a rollover button, this will be a SWF, this will be text, this logo will hide "xyz" <h1> text etc) to slices to aid in layout generation? are there some secret tools which assist in this conversion process? Or are we still restricted to doing things by hand? The frustration continues when said hand built page needs to be reworked again to fit Smarty Templates/Wordpress/generic CMS. I acknowledge that designers need to be free of systems to be able to do whatever, but most conventional sites have: a header with navigation a sidebar with more links the main content part maybe another sidebar a footer Given the similarity of a lot of components, shouldn't there be a more systematic approach to going from sliced designs to functional HTML? Or am I over-simplifying things? -edit- Mmmmm.... I suppose I will accept an answer, but they weren't really what I was looking for. It just seems like designing the DOM is a bit of holy grail ("It's only a model!"), and maybe with all the "groovy" things you can do with HTML and Javascript, it would be mighty hard work, but with a set of constraints (that 960 stuff looks interesting), some well designed reset style sheets and a bit of... fairy dust? we should be able to improve the work flow. Photoshop's tables by themselves are pretty much useless, I agree, but surely we can take this data, and then select a group of cells and say "right, this is a text div, overflow:auto" or "these cells are an image block, style it with the same height/width as the selected area". Admittedly here at work there are other elephants in the room that need to make their formal introductions to management, but some parts of the designpage workflow seem... uneducated at best.

• How to debug "The type initializer for 'my class' threw an exception"

  I am getting the exception: The type initializer for 'my class' threw an exception. in my browser after running my web application. Since this seems to be an error message generated from the view (.aspx), there is no way I can see the stack trace or any log for the source of this error. I have read a bit around the net and one solution to debugging is to throw a TypeInitializationException and then looking at the inner exception to find out what was wrong. How can I do this when I don't know where to surround code with a try/catch ?

  Does anyone know of a walk-through or any examples of any code to setup sensors in android. I have the drivers available to me. Also i have implemented the sensors library as instructed in the Android-Reference along the sensors.h template. I am still unable to get any response at the apps level. How do i trace this issue? what might be the problem? Thanks in advance UPDATE: Jorgesys's link below points to a great APP to test if the sensor drivers are functioning properly or not. • Nested for loop error with !null checking an element that doesn't exist

  I am currently using nested for loops in a 2D array of size 4,2. When I run my program, I get index out of bounds Exception on the following line else if (state[i][j+1] != null && state[i][j].getFlash() <= state[i][j].getCycleLength() && state[i][j+1].getCycleLength() == state[i][j].getCycleLength()){ } It says the index out of bounds is 2. I would understand the error if I wasn't checking to see if [i][j+1] wasn't null, but I don't understand the exception with the check? I tried moving around the !null check but the program still fails on this line. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   hi all i have very strange issue with some of my servlet. below is my configuration Folder A is having X number os servelet deployed in tomcat directory Folder B is having Y number of servelet deployed in tomcat directory. now after certain amount of time or hits to any of the servelet in Folder B is stops working properly, whereas at same time All servelet of Folder A works fine i am not able to trace where i am doing mistake all coding for both folder's servelet is same only difference is they are with different dB, but it is very simple read only operation with dB though. any idea ? thks

• Is there any real world reason to use throw ex?

  In C#, throw ex is almost always wrong, as it resets the stack trace. I just wonder, is there any real world use for this? The only reason I can think of is to hide internals of your closed library, but that's a really weak reason. Apart from that, I've never encountered in the real world. Edit: I do mean throw ex, as in throwing the exact same exception that was caught but with an empty stacktrace, as in doing it exactly wrong. I know that throw ex has to exist as a language construct to allow throwing a different exception (throw new DifferentException("ex as innerException", ex)) and was just wondering if there is ever a situration where a throw ex is not wrong.

• Can Grails exceptionHandler support the following Error Handling Flow

  In my rails app that I am porting to grails whenever an unexpected error occurs I intercept the error automatically and display a form to the user informing them that an error has occured and asking them for further information. Meanwhile, as the form is rendered I write the stack trace and other information about who was logged in to a database table. Then if the form is submitted I add that information to the error report. I cannot tell from the exceptionHandler documentation and BootStrap examples whether that will allow me to grab all the information including various session and request parameters and then stuff them into a database and then post a form. Any thoughts?

• SQL Server Service Broker Service Disappearing (Automatically Deleted)?

  I've implemented a messaging system over SQL Server Service Broker. It is working great, with the sole exception that every once in a while (maybe once per week per server) my initiator service just vanishes without a trace. The corresponding queue is still there, but the service is missing. Obviously this causes problems in my system. It's a simple matter to recreate the service by hand, but I'm confused as to what might cause this behavior. I understand that automatic poison message handling causes queues to be disabled, but I don't see anything that indicates services can be disabled or deleted automatically. When this happens, I usually have a large backlog of messages in multiple application queues, but nothing extreme. Total message backlog is around 200,000. Does anyone know what might be happening here?

• SQL Compact Edition 3.5 SP 1 - LockTimeOutException - how to debug?

  Intermittently in our app, we encounter LockTimeoutExceptions being throw from SQL CE. We've recently upgraded to 3.5 SP 1, and a number of them seem to have gone away, but we still do see them occasionally. I'm certain it's a bug in our code (which is multi-threaded) but I haven't been able to pin it down precisely. Does anyone have any good techniques for debugging this problem? The exceptions log like this (there's never a stack trace for these exceptions): SQL Server Compact timed out waiting for a lock. The default lock time is 2000ms for devices and 5000ms for desktops. The default lock timeout can be increased in the connection string using the ssce: default lock timeout property. [ Session id = 6,Thread id = 7856,Process id = 10116,Table name = Product,Conflict type = s lock (x blocks),Resource = DDL ] Our database is read-heavy, but does seldom writes, and I think I've got everything protected where it needs to be. • Single page app with high number of images working extremely slow on iOS8 safari/Webview

  We are working on a WebView (not WKWebView, yet) app, are are observing that the app runs extremely slow on iOS 8. The same app runs smooth on lower versions of OS like iOS7 and iOS6. So we tried it in safari on iOS8 and the performance is similar to iOS6 and 7. The app is filled with images and many are high resolution. While trying to trace the issue (trial and error!) we reduced the sizes and resolutions of the images and the performance improved, but it is still not at par with versions 6 and 7. We are unable to find any such issues reported elsewhere and are stuck. It would be great if we could get some pointers on this one.

• Session sometimes timesout too quick

  I am noticing session timeouts on my asp.net mvc web app randomly without browser being incative for for more than few minutes. My understanding is the default timeout should be 20mins. But sometimes I get a timeout in couple minutes or even less than that. For example after browsing on the site for a while I might get a session timeout when i refresh a page very soon after I enter the page. This is very random but I have seen this happen quite a few times now and I am not sure how I can trace this to see why I loose sessions every once in a while whithout browser being inactive long. I checked my web.config an no timeout value is defined there so I assume it should be 20mins. Hard to debug as this does not occur regularly..

• iPhone Wait For Animation Ending

  Hi, In an iPhone application, I try to catch animation endings using setAnimationDidStopSelector. I try to suspend code execution until animation ends. I have tried this; set a global BOOL variable, set it to TRUE before commiting animation and after commiting animations waited using a while loop. In the setAnimationDidStopSelector, set the BOOL variable to FALSE and hope while loop to break. But unluckily this did not work, the code did not even fall into setAnimationDidStopSelector (I check that with some trace outputs). What do you suggest?

  I have simple Haxe app like class Main { public static function main() { trace("hello world"); } } I know how to compile such app for windows (not as SWF but as app from pure C\C++ )(and you can see how here but be worned thay use hxcpp\0,4 ) The problem is - I do not want to compile app for Windows Vista or 7 or XP I want to get PURE C\C++ code (better in one place as one project) for for example compiling that code on windows mobile or where ever I want to. So is there any algorithm for turning simple HAXE code into C/C++ code files?
