  • Howto prevent grubpc 2.02 to display with submenu?

    - by useful
In the past, we could tweak grub-pc so that it simply shows all OSes/options as a simple list, slightly editing /etc/grub.d/10_linux. How can we do that in the 2.02~beta2-9 release supplied with Trusty Tahr 14.04? With several kernels installed (eg generic and lowlatency) submenu is boring with such a /etc/default/grub when I need to change OS:

  • Controlling the fontsize across multiple browsers

    - by Matthias
Hello, I've got 3 browsers on my WinXPpro: Firefox 3.5.2, Opera 10 and IE 7. Alle pages are displayed fine in FF. Opera and IE seem to have a very similar issue: Both upsize fonts eventhough zoom mode in both browsers is set to 100%. I tend to believe that this might be a system-wide setting, somewhere. Does anyone know this problem? Thanks

  • Block web browsing by older browsers

    - by Eamon
Given the vulnerabilities in older versions of IE, I want to enforce a rule that only the latest IE or Firefox is used to browse the web. I can't ensure that everyone's PC is up to date, so is there a firewall that will let me write a rule to restrict the version of the browser that can make requests through the firewall? Our current firewall

  • Spotlight actually searching every file on "This Mac"

    - by Cawas
I know of 2 ways to search for any file in your machine using Finder (some say it's Spotlight) and no Terminal. To prevent answers / comments about Terminal, I consider it either for scripting something or as last resource. It's not practical for lots of usages. For instance, if you want to find something to attach to a mail, or embed

Every time I close Internet Explorer, all temporary files (including cookies) are deleted. So, when I'm browsing in firefox, some letters look grainy or glowing, does anyone know what might be causing this? It doesn't show on all website, only some. It almost looks like Firefox is trying to render different font colours on top of eachother and blends them in the process somehow. Using Firefox 3.6.13 on Windows 7
