I created two files 'hello.pl' and 'hello.cgi' with the code below. #!/usr/bin/perl print "Content-type:text/html\n\n"; print "hello world"; I can view the page via both http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/hello.pl and http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/hello.cgi. Which one is more sense in Perl web dev? BTW, the directory of 'cgi-bin' created by my VPS server, Do I need contact with my VPS support to remove it or just remain it like this URL style? Maybe http://www.mydomain.com/perDev/hello.cgi is better?

  • SharePoint Cannot Log in after making entry in hosts file

    I'm building a MOSS 2007 site on Windows 2008 R2, 64 bit. Not wanting to use my machine name or IP in the URL, I made an entry in my hosts file: 127.0.0.1 mydev.com I can surf to the URL, http://mydev.com, but when I try to log in (Windows Authentication), I am denied. I am able to successfully log in if I take out the hosts file entry, and surf to http:// Do I need to edit something else for the authentication to work when I want to use a custom URL like mydev.com that is only mapped in the hosts file?

  • JSF composite component - weird behavior when trying to save state

    I'm using Glassfish 3.2.2 and JSF 2.1.11 I'm trying to create a composite component that will take as parameters a string and a max number of characters and then will show only the max amount of characters, but it will have a "more" link next to it, that when clicked will expand the text to the full length and will then have a "less" link next to it to take it back to the max number of characters. I'm seeing some weird behavior, so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. So the question is why doesn't it get called when I click on the "less" link? Shouldn't this code be equivalent to the code above? Is there a better way to save state in a component?

I followed these steps: 1) Initially i sent a request for "code", by clicking on the facebook icon in my site: https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/authorize? client_id=xxx&redirect_uri=http://xxxxxxxx 2) And then after getting a code, i sent a request for "access token", by clicking on another link in my site: https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token? client_id=xxx&redirect_uri=http://xxxxxxx&client_secret=xxxx&code=xxxxx 3) And after i got the token, i sent another request for getting user data, by clicking on yet another link: https://graph.facebook.com/me?access_token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Then finally i got the user data in array format, which i need to parse for my required data like user's firstname, email, etc. Now my question is that how i can automate this process with just one click ? Right now, iam using 3 different links for sending those requests. Can anyone suggest a solution ?

  • url encoded forward slashes breaking my codeigniter app

    i’m trying to create a url string that works like this: /app/process/example.com/index.html so in other words, /app/process/$URL i then retrieve the url with $this->uri->segment(3); the forward slashes in the URL will of course be a problem accessing uri segments, so i’ll go ahead and url encode the URL portion: /app/process/example.com%2Findex.html .. but now I just get a 404 saying ... Not Found The requested URL /app/process/example.com/index.html was not found on this server. it appears that my url encoding of forward slashes breaks CI’s URI parser. what can i do to get around this problem?

And, when someone goes on their public profile, they can listen to the streamed audio: http://www.example.com/foobar/profile). I basically found some sample code and modified it to my specific purpose. What I don't quite understand is: Why does $1 refer to the the portion of the supplied url after the hostname - where is the documentation for this? There is no backreference in the RewriteCond.

  • nginx timeout albeit ridicolous configuration

    The scenario is an API server that should handle uploads. Posting on my.host.com/api/upload should do something with the body the client sends. However the API server has been designed to block the whole request until it fully processed the file, including some analysis which can take up to approx. 5min (...!). This has to change of course. In the meantime I wanted to setup nginx as a load balancer in front of the API servers. If I look at the log of the API server I still see that it is processing the request and analyzing the file. But I think 3600 seconds as a timeout should be more than enough. This happens even after a could of seconds. And I did a reload and force-reload of the configuration as well of course.

  • LINQ to SQL or Entities, at this point?

    I'm a bit late to the game and have decided to spend some spare time learning LINQ. As an exercise, I'm going to rewrite a WebForms app in MVC 2 (which is also new to me). I managed to find a few topics regarding LINQ here (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16322/learning-about-linq, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8050/beginners-guide-to-linq, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/252683/is-linq-to-sql-doa), which brought the concern of Entities vs SQL to my attention. The threads are all over a year old however, and I can't seem to find any definitive information on which ORM is preferable. Is Entities more or less LINQ to SQL 2.0 at this point? Is it still more difficult to use? Is there any reason to use LINQ to SQL, or should I just jump into Entities? The applications I write at my present employer have a lengthy lifecycle (~10 years), so I'm trying to pick the best technology available.

I am not 100 sure why this is as all issuer is OK, all items are secure and I get a padlock on all browsers. Can any one shed some light on this?

  • Running an rsync sweep before initializing lsyncd for synchronizing instances on EC2

    My company uses several EC2 servers that will scale up and down according to the load we're receiving on our sites at any given moment. For the sake of our discussion here, we're running four instances: master.ourdomain.com - the file syncing "hub" of the webservers www1/www2/www3.ourdomain.com - three webservers which turn on or off as dictated by load I'm using lsyncd to keep all of the webservers in sync, and for the most part, it's working quite well. We're using a two-way syncing scheme, such that each webserver syncs against master, and master syncs against each webserver. Thus, the webservers are kept in sync, even though they aren't syncing against each other directly. I'm having one problem that I'm having a hard time solving,though. It occurs under these circumstances: When changes are made on master (perhaps after we've pushed new code), while some of the redundant webservers are sleeping And then a sleeping webserver wakes-up to absorb load Under that circumstance, I would like the following to happen: First, the newly-awoken webserver should sync its file structure - one way - against master, to bring its web application code up-to-date. Then, and only then, should it begin pushing changes in its file structure back to master. Unfortunately, currently, when a sleeping server is started, when lsyncd starts up, it pushes changes back to master before updating its own codebase, thus overwriting new code with old. Thus, before lsyncd starts, I'd like to be able to synchronize the webservers code against master's, perhaps by running a simple one-way rsync against the two machines. We're running lsyncd v.2, and I've tried to make this happen by using the "bash" configuration options documented in the lsyncd manual. My configuration file looks like this: settings = { logfile = "/home/user/log/lsyncd/log.txt", statusFile = "/home/user/log/lsyncd/status.txt", maxProcesses = 2, nodaemon = false, } bash = { onStartup = "rsync [email protected]:/home/user/www /home/user/www" } sync{ default.rsyncssh, source="/home/user/www/", host="[email protected].com", targetdir="/home/user/www/", rsyncOpts="-ltus", excludeFrom="/home/user/conf/lsyncd/exclude" } (I've obviously redacted that file somewhat to protect the identities of the guilty.) Simply put, though, this just isn't working. How else might I approach this problem? I was looking at the --delete-after option in man rsync, but I don't think that does what I'm looking for. Are there any suggestions about how I should approach this problem? Thanks for lending your time and expertise. Chris

    Problem Trying to setup CI Joe (https://github.com/defunkt/cijoe) and I get the following error: /usr/bin/env: ruby1.8: No such file or directory What I'm doing CI Joe is run as www-data, and the command I'm running is RAILS_ENV=test bundle exec rake -s test When I log in as www-data (sudo su www-data) and execute the same command it works. So I'm trying to figure out what may be wrong.   • Having an @ inside of a string - PHP

    So I know that you use a backslash to escape most things in php however the @ symbol is an operator that suppresses error messages. I'm trying to put an email string like this inside of an array "myname@gmail.com", however php is throwing an error. How do you escape the @ sign? EDIT: Here is the code example that was throwing the error: $arr = array(3=> "usertest3@gmail.com",4=> "testingagain@msn.com"); However replacing the double quotes with single quotes fixes the error as answered below.... why is that true?
