  • ob_start() -> ob_flush() doesn't work

    I am using ob_start()/ob_flush() to, hopefully, give me some progress during a long import operation. I know the data file is getting downloaded because I watch the directory where it is being placed. I also know that the import is happening, meaning that it is in the while loop, because I can monitor the DB and records are being inserted. Any ideas as to why I am not getting output to the screen?

    I am a student programmer and relatively new to the industry. Once I get out into the real world and have money to blow, which events/conventions/conferences/etc. should I look into attending? Which do you consider a must-attend-at-least-once-in-your-life-as-a-developer type of event? Just to clarify, any language, company, size, are acceptable. I'm mostly looking to generate a list of highly regarded conferences for a variety of different fields/interests.

    Hi, I have defined my class: public class Host { public string Name; } then a strongly-typed dictionary: Dictionary<string, Host> HostsTable; then I try to compare a value: if (HostsTable.Values.Where(s => s.Name == "myhostname") != null) { doSomething } and the problem is, nothing is found, even I'm sure the item is on the list. What I'm doing wrong ?

    My project currently contains two largish property lists. One is currently 20KB; another is 8KB. So far, I have been maintaining them with xCode's property list editor. This is manageable but also a bit clunky. I am wondering if other people have better ways of doing this? So far, my lists consist of nested arrays of strings. The depth is not uniform.

    I have an interface DataSeries with a method int[] getRawData(); For various reasons (primarily because I'm using this with MATLAB, and MATLAB handles int[] well) I need to return an array rather than a List. I don't want my implementing classes to return the int[] array because it is mutable. What is the most efficient way to copy an int[] array (sizes in the 1000-1000000 length range) ? Is it clone()?

  • C# .NET Why does my inherited listview keep drawing in LargeIcon View ?? Because Microsoft is Evil!!

    I have a inherited Listview which standard has to be in Tile Mode. When using this control, the DrawItem gives e.bounds which are clearly bounds of largeIcon view ?? When debugging to check the view it is actually set to, it says it's in Tile view ?? Yet e.DrawText draws LargeIcon view ?? ......... Edit: ................. This seems only to happen when the control is placed upon another usercontrol? ......... Edit 2: ................. It gets stranger ... When i add buttons next to the list to change the view at runtime, "Tile" is the same as "LargeIcon", and "List" view is the same as "SmallIcons" ??? I've also completely removed the ownerdraw ... .......... Edit 3: ................. MSDN Documentation: Tile view Each item appears as a full-sized icon with the item label and subitem information to the right of it. The subitem information that appears is specified by the application. This view is available only on Windows XP and the Windows Server 2003 family. On earlier operating systems, this value is ignored and the ListView control displays in the LargeIcon view. Well I am on XP ya damn liars ?!?     There's a few questions discussing Merge sorting a LinkedList, but how can I do it with the C# LinkedList? Since the LinkedListNode Next and Previous properties are read-only most of the in-place algorithms I've come across are not possible. I've resorted to removing all the nodes, sorting them with a .OrderBy(node = node.Value) and then re-inserting them into the Linked list, but it's fairly crude.

    I've been encountering a seeming deadlock with one of my tables and the only place I can trace it back to is a stored procedure that uses sp_xml_preparedocument on a list of data. The data inserted, btw, consists of a 100k+ records on average. Is it possible that it is causing the deadlock? What other pitfalls does using sp_xml_preparedocument have?

    I have a database with the following tables: Employee (EmpID, FirstName, LastName, RegionID) EmployeeSkills(EmpID, SkillID) [this is a linking table for the M:N relationship between Employees and skills] Skills(SkillID, Description) I need to list the name of the skill that most employees have. I tried doing a max(count(skillID)), sqlserver said that you can't do an aggregate function on an aggregate function. Any other ideas? Thank you in advance!

    I'm reading about how to put a makefile together, but no-one seems to mention what to do if your files require different sets of libraries, they all seem to use the same set of libraries for each file. Since it seems unlikely that every single file has the same libraries, I take it the list they use must amalgamate all of the libraries required across the project. I just wanted to know if there's any downside to including too many libraries, or if the compiler works out which ones are needed and ignores the rest? Thanks
