I designed the page in photoshop and I would like to know how to send the background image (the 25% opacity buildings overlay).   I was recently given a HP Compaq presario SR1200NX. It has Windows XP installed on it. After having Windows 7, then Ubuntu, I find XP to be really slow. I was wondering if XP is slow? The processor itself is slow? Or a combination thereof?   I just got a new laptop, HP dm4, and I'm having problems getting the audio to work properly on it. http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=7b697a35465a9f7236fb94deb9ff97fa65e55489 I tried to edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and added: option snd-hda-intel model=ref this caused the audio to work, but it's muffled.   Whenever I read a code like this: struct node { int x : 2; int p : 4; }n; with bit fields involved, I get really confused, as to how they are represented in memory, what is sizeof(n) etc., how does it differ with normal members of structures? I tried referring K&R and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bit_field but they little to remove my confusion. What concepts of bit fields am I failing to grasp?

• Why is the error, dd: /dev/rdisk1bs=1m: Operation not supported, popping up while trying to instal ubuntu on usb?

  I am trying to install ubuntu onto my flash drive using the instructions from the website, http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/create-a-usb-stick-on-mac-osx , and after step 8, the terminal asks for my password, which it accepts and then pops u this error message, dd: /dev/rdisk1bs=1m: Operation not supported. I have also tried making the last m in that statement capital and then the system does not ask me for my password but the error message still pops up. What is happening and why?

  I've dropbox v1.4.17 installed and I want to change the path from (...)/Dropbox to (...)/dropbox. I think until v1.2 this was done by changing dropbox_path field in the sqlite file ~/.dropbox/config.db. Now, this field is hidden inside the encrypted ~/.dropbox/config.dbx (security reasons [1], I guess). Anyone has a solution to this? I need to run Firefox but it seems like a lot of my clients are still running versions of Firefox 3 (is this an operating system issue? Doesn't Firefox auto-update?) so I need to run 3 plus the latest version to troubleshoot some css issues...

  PROBLEM - When installing UBUNTU Natty on my friends Laptop with a HDMI cable attached to both TV and Laptop both screens echo each other BUT when reboot has taken place nothing is displayed on the external screen.
