  • Drop down list in menu disappears before able to click

    - by user1834770
    I've had quite a search through forums looking for a solution for this, but since I don't know coding I'm not sure what applies to me and what doesn't. So, apologies if this is an often solved problem, but I'll greatly appreciate your help! After much trial and error, I've managed to get a drop down list of pages on my navigation bar; however, when I go to click on a sub-page, the entire menu disappears. I've read through other similar problems where there has been an issue with a margin that's too big, but I think my margins are set to '0'. The blog is at: http://swirlstwirlsblog.blogspot.com.au/ I haven't got content in the sub pages but there are there and linked in the html/javascript widget. I've also looked at it in Chrome, Mozilla, and Safari and it's the same issue. I'm also not sure if this is a javascript, css, or html problem, so please be kind in your responses--I'm only new! Thanks so much to anyone able to help me on this. Here's the script I used in the Widget: <ul id="jsddm"> <li><a href="http://swirlstwirlsblog.blogspot.com.au/">Home</a> <li><a href="http://swirlstwirlsblog.blogspot.com.au/search/label/sparkles">Sparkles</a> </li> <li><a href="http://swirlstwirlsblog.blogspot.com.au/search/label/friendship">Friendship</a> </li> <li><a href="http://swirlstwirlsblog.blogspot.com.au/search/label/humour">Humour</a> </li> <li><a href="">About</a> <ul> <li><a href="http://swirlstwirlsblog.blogspot.com.au/p/about_16.html">Us</a></li> <li><a href="http://swirlstwirlsblog.blogspot.com.au/p/contributers.html">Contributors</a> </li> <li><a href="http://swirlstwirlsblog.blogspot.com.au/p/advertising.html">Advertising</a> </li> <li><a href="http://swirlstwirlsblog.blogspot.com.au/p/privacy-policies.html">Privacy</a></li> <li><a href="http://swirlstwirlsblog.blogspot.com.au/p/contact.html">Contact</a></li> </ul> </li> </li></ul> And here's the html code I put in the template: <pre>#jsddm { margin: 0; padding: 15px; z-index:1000000000; position:relative; } #jsddm li { float: left; list-style: none; font: 12px Tahoma, Arial; } #jsddm li a { display: block; white-space: nowrap; margin:1px 3px; padding: 5px 10px; border-right: 1px color: eeeeee; text-shadow: #ffffff 0 1px 0; color: #363636; font-size: 15px; font-family: crushed; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: middle; } #jsddm li a:hover { background: #C8C8C8; } #jsddm li ul { margin: 0; padding: 0; position: absolute; visibility: hidden; border-top: 1px solid white; } #jsddm li ul li { float: none; display: inline; } #jsddm li ul li a { width: auto; background: #ffffff; } #jsddm li ul li a:hover { background: #eeeeee; }</pre>

  • Select list shrinks in size horizontally when empty

    - by joe
    Hello, I have two select list boxes and i can move items back and forth between them using the forward (--) and backward (<--) button. However, if there are no items in a select list, it shrinks in size horizontally. Any way to keep the select list a fixed size, irrespective of whether it contains any options or not ? Below is the code: <html> <head> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- var NS4 = (navigator.appName == "Netscape" && parseInt(navigator.appVersion) < 5); function addOption(theSel, theText, theValue) { var newOpt = new Option(theText, theValue); var selLength = theSel.length; theSel.options[selLength] = newOpt; } function deleteOption(theSel, theIndex) { var selLength = theSel.length; if(selLength>0) { theSel.options[theIndex] = null; } } function moveOptions(theSelFrom, theSelTo) { var selLength = theSelFrom.length; var selectedText = new Array(); var selectedValues = new Array(); var selectedCount = 0; var i; // Find the selected Options in reverse order // and delete them from the 'from' Select. for(i=selLength-1; i>=0; i--) { if(theSelFrom.options[i].selected) { selectedText[selectedCount] = theSelFrom.options[i].text; selectedValues[selectedCount] = theSelFrom.options[i].value; deleteOption(theSelFrom, i); selectedCount++; } } // Add the selected text/values in reverse order. // This will add the Options to the 'to' Select // in the same order as they were in the 'from' Select. for(i=selectedCount-1; i>=0; i--) { addOption(theSelTo, selectedText[i], selectedValues[i]); } if(NS4) history.go(0); } //--> </script> </head> <body> <form action="yourpage.asp" method="post"> <table border="0"> <tr> <td width="70"> <select name="sel1" size="10" multiple="multiple"> <option value="1">Left1</option> <option value="2">Left2</option> <option value="3">Left3</option> <option value="4">Left4</option> <option value="5">Left5</option> </select> </td> <td align="center" valign="middle"> <input type="button" value="--&gt;" onclick="moveOptions(this.form.sel1, this.form.sel2);" /><br /> <input type="button" value="&lt;--" onclick="moveOptions(this.form.sel2, this.form.sel1);" /> </td> <td> <select name="sel2" size="10" multiple="multiple"> <option value="1">Right1</option> <option value="2">Right2</option> <option value="3">Right3</option> <option value="4">Right4</option> <option value="5">Right5</option> </select> </td> </tr> </table> </form> </body> </html> Please help. Thank You.

  • PHP multi-post issue.

    - by user1887185
    When I have two or more comments on a post, it show the post again and the next comment underneath it. How do I make it so it shows only the post once and the comments underneath it if there are multiple comments? $sql_posts = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM posts ORDER BY post_date DESC "); $postDisplayList = ""; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($sql_posts)){ $postid = $row["id"]; $uid = $row["user_id"]; $the_post = $row["post"]; $post_date = $row["post_date"]; $sql_mem_data = mysql_query("SELECT id, username, firstname, lastname FROM users WHERE id='$uid' LIMIT 1"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($sql_mem_data)){ $uid = $row["id"]; $username = $row["username"]; $firstname = $row["firstname"]; $lastname = $row["lastname"]; } $sql_com_data = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM comments WHERE post_id='$postid' "); while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($sql_com_data)){ $uid1 = $row["user_id"]; $comment = $row["comment"]; $whencomment = $row["comment_date"]; $sql_com_data_user = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE id='$uid1' "); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($sql_com_data_user)){ $username1 = $row["username"]; $firstname1 = $row["firstname"]; $lastname1 = $row["lastname"]; } $postDisplayList .= ' <table width="100%" align="center" cellpadding="6" style="background-color:#F2F2F2; "> <tr> <td width="93%" bgcolor="#F2F2F2" style="line-height:1.5em;" valign="top"> <span class="liteGreyColor textsize9"> ' . $post_date .   • Image Preview in ASP.NET MVC

    - by imran_ku07
      Introduction :         Previewing an image is a great way to improve the UI of your site. Also it is always best to check the file type, size and see a preview before submitting the whole form. There are some ways to do this using simple JavaScript but not work in all browsers (like FF3).In this Article I will show you how do this using ASP.NET MVC application. You also see how this will work in case of nested form.   Description :          Create a new ASP.NET MVC project and then add a file upload and image control into your View. <form id="form1" method="post" action="NerdDinner/ImagePreview/AjaxSubmit">            <table>                <tr>                    <td>                        <input type="file" name="imageLoad1" id="imageLoad1"  onchange="ChangeImage(this,'#imgThumbnail')" />                    </td>                </tr>                <tr>                    <td align="center">                        <img src="images/TempImage.gif" id="imgThumbnail" height="200px" width="200px">                     </td>                </tr>            </table>        </form>           Note that here NerdDinner is refers to the virtual directory name, ImagePreview is the Controller and ImageLoad is the action name which you will see shortly          I will use the most popular jQuery form plug-in, that turns a form into an AJAX form with very little code. Therefore you must get these from Jquery site and then add these files into your page.          <script src="NerdDinner/Scripts/jquery-1.3.2.js" type="text/javascript"></script>        <script src="NerdDinner/Scripts/jquery.form.js" type="text/javascript"></script>            Then add the javascript function. <script type="text/javascript">function ChangeImage(fileId,imageId){ $("#form1").ajaxSubmit({success: function(responseText){ var d=new Date(); $(imageId)[0].src="NerdDinner/ImagePreview/ImageLoad?a="+d.getTime(); } });}</script>             This function simply submit the form named form1 asynchronously to ImagePreviewController's method AjaxSubmit and after successfully receiving the response, it will set the image src property to the action method ImageLoad. Here I am also adding querystring, preventing the browser to serve the cached image.           Now I will create a new Controller named ImagePreviewController. public class ImagePreviewController : Controller { [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult AjaxSubmit(int? id) { Session["ContentLength"] = Request.Files[0].ContentLength; Session["ContentType"] = Request.Files[0].ContentType; byte[] b = new byte[Request.Files[0].ContentLength]; Request.Files[0].InputStream.Read(b, 0, Request.Files[0].ContentLength); Session["ContentStream"] = b; return Content( Request.Files[0].ContentType+";"+ Request.Files[0].ContentLength ); } public ActionResult ImageLoad(int? id) { byte[] b = (byte[])Session["ContentStream"]; int length = (int)Session["ContentLength"]; string type = (string)Session["ContentType"]; Response.Buffer = true; Response.Charset = ""; Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache); Response.ContentType = type; Response.BinaryWrite(b); Response.Flush(); Session["ContentLength"] = null; Session["ContentType"] = null; Session["ContentStream"] = null; Response.End(); return Content(""); } }             The AjaxSubmit action method will save the image in Session and return content type and content length in response. ImageLoad action method will return the contents of image in response.Then clear these Sessions.           Just run your application and see the effect.   Checking Size and Content Type of File:          You may notice that AjaxSubmit action method is returning both content type and content length. You can check both properties before submitting your complete form.     $(myform).ajaxSubmit({success: function(responseText)            {                                var contentType=responseText.substring(0,responseText.indexOf(';'));                var contentLength=responseText.substring(responseText.indexOf(';')+1);                // Here you can do your validation                var d=new Date();                $(imageId)[0].src="http://weblogs.asp.net/MoneypingAPP/ImagePreview/ImageLoad?a="+d.getTime();            }        });  Handling Nested Form Case:          The above code will work if you have only one form. But this is not the case always.You may have a form control which wraps all the controls and you do not want to submit the whole form, just for getting a preview effect.           In this case you need to create a dynamic form control using JavaScript, and then add file upload control to this form and submit the form asynchronously  function ChangeImage(fileId,imageId)         {            var myform=document.createElement("form");                    myform.action="NerdDinner/ImagePreview/AjaxSubmit";            myform.enctype="multipart/form-data";            myform.method="post";            var imageLoad=document.getElementById(fileId).cloneNode(true);            myform.appendChild(imageLoad);            document.body.appendChild(myform);            $(myform).ajaxSubmit({success: function(responseText)                {                                    var contentType=responseText.substring(0,responseText.indexOf(';'));                    var contentLength=responseText.substring(responseText.indexOf(';')+1);                    var d=new Date();                    $(imageId)[0].src="http://weblogs.asp.net/MoneypingAPP/ImagePreview/ImageLoad?a="+d.getTime();                    document.body.removeChild(myform);                }            });        }            You also need append the child in order to send request and remove them after receiving response.

  • Building a Windows Phone 7 Twitter Application using Silverlight

    - by ScottGu
    On Monday I had the opportunity to present the MIX 2010 Day 1 Keynote in Las Vegas (you can watch a video of it here).  In the keynote I announced the release of the Silverlight 4 Release Candidate (we’ll ship the final release of it next month) and the VS 2010 RC tools for Silverlight 4.  I also had the chance to talk for the first time about how Silverlight and XNA can now be used to build Windows Phone 7 applications. During my talk I did two quick Windows Phone 7 coding demos using Silverlight – a quick “Hello World” application and a “Twitter” data-snacking application.  Both applications were easy to build and only took a few minutes to create on stage.  Below are the steps you can follow yourself to build them on your own machines as well. [Note: In addition to blogging, I am also now using Twitter for quick updates and to share links. Follow me at: twitter.com/scottgu] Building a “Hello World” Windows Phone 7 Application First make sure you’ve installed the Windows Phone Developer Tools CTP – this includes the Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone development tool (which will be free forever and is the only thing you need to develop and build Windows Phone 7 applications) as well as an add-on to the VS 2010 RC that enables phone development within the full VS 2010 as well. After you’ve downloaded and installed the Windows Phone Developer Tools CTP, launch the Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone that it installs or launch the VS 2010 RC (if you have it already installed), and then choose “File”->”New Project.”  Here, you’ll find the usual list of project template types along with a new category: “Silverlight for Windows Phone”. The first CTP offers two application project templates. The first is the “Windows Phone Application” template - this is what we’ll use for this example. The second is the “Windows Phone List Application” template - which provides the basic layout for a master-details phone application: After creating a new project, you’ll get a view of the design surface and markup. Notice that the design surface shows the phone UI, letting you easily see how your application will look while you develop. For those familiar with Visual Studio, you’ll also find the familiar ToolBox, Solution Explorer and Properties pane. For our HelloWorld application, we’ll start out by adding a TextBox and a Button from the Toolbox. Notice that you get the same design experience as you do for Silverlight on the web or desktop. You can easily resize, position and align your controls on the design surface. Changing properties is easy with the Properties pane. We’ll change the name of the TextBox that we added to username and change the page title text to “Hello world.” We’ll then write some code by double-clicking on the button and create an event handler in the code-behind file (MainPage.xaml.cs). We’ll start out by changing the title text of the application. The project template included this title as a TextBlock with the name textBlockListTitle (note that the current name incorrectly includes the word “list”; that will be fixed for the final release.)  As we write code against it we get intellisense showing the members available.  Below we’ll set the Text property of the title TextBlock to “Hello “ + the Text property of the TextBox username: We now have all the code necessary for a Hello World application.  We have two choices when it comes to deploying and running the application. We can either deploy to an actual device itself or use the built-in phone emulator: Because the phone emulator is actually the phone operating system running in a virtual machine, we’ll get the same experience developing in the emulator as on the device. For this sample, we’ll just press F5 to start the application with debugging using the emulator.  Once the phone operating system loads, the emulator will run the new “Hello world” application exactly as it would on the device: Notice that we can change several settings of the emulator experience with the emulator toolbar – which is a floating toolbar on the top right.  This includes the ability to re-size/zoom the emulator and two rotate buttons.  Zoom lets us zoom into even the smallest detail of the application: The orientation buttons allow us easily see what the application looks like in landscape mode (orientation change support is just built into the default template): Note that the emulator can be reused across F5 debug sessions - that means that we don’t have to start the emulator for every deployment. We’ve added a dialog that will help you from accidentally shutting down the emulator if you want to reuse it.  Launching an application on an already running emulator should only take ~3 seconds to deploy and run. Within our Hello World application we’ll click the “username” textbox to give it focus.  This will cause the software input panel (SIP) to open up automatically.  We can either type a message or – since we are using the emulator – just type in text.  Note that the emulator works with Windows 7 multi-touch so, if you have a touchscreen, you can see how interaction will feel on a device just by pressing the screen. We’ll enter “MIX 10” in the textbox and then click the button – this will cause the title to update to be “Hello MIX 10”: We provide the same Visual Studio experience when developing for the phone as other .NET applications. This means that we can set a breakpoint within the button event handler, press the button again and have it break within the debugger: Building a “Twitter” Windows Phone 7 Application using Silverlight Rather than just stop with “Hello World” let’s keep going and evolve it to be a basic Twitter client application. We’ll return to the design surface and add a ListBox, using the snaplines within the designer to fit it to the device screen and make the best use of phone screen real estate.  We’ll also rename the Button “Lookup”: We’ll then return to the Button event handler in Main.xaml.cs, and remove the original “Hello World” line of code and take advantage of the WebClient networking class to asynchronously download a Twitter feed. This takes three lines of code in total: (1) declaring and creating the WebClient, (2) attaching an event handler and then (3) calling the asynchronous DownloadStringAsync method. In the DownloadStringAsync call, we’ll pass a Twitter Uri plus a query string which pulls the text from the “username” TextBox. This feed will pull down the respective user’s most frequent posts in an XML format. When the call completes, the DownloadStringCompleted event is fired and our generated event handler twitter_DownloadStringCompleted will be called: The result returned from the Twitter call will come back in an XML based format.  To parse this we’ll use LINQ to XML. LINQ to XML lets us create simple queries for accessing data in an xml feed. To use this library, we’ll first need to add a reference to the assembly (right click on the References folder in the solution explorer and choose “Add Reference): We’ll then add a “using System.Xml.Linq” namespace reference at the top of the code-behind file at the top of Main.xaml.cs file: We’ll then add a simple helper class called TwitterItem to our project. TwitterItem has three string members – UserName, Message and ImageSource: We’ll then implement the twitter_DownloadStringCompleted event handler and use LINQ to XML to parse the returned XML string from Twitter.  What the query is doing is pulling out the three key pieces of information for each Twitter post from the username we passed as the query string. These are the ImageSource for their profile image, the Message of their tweet and their UserName. For each Tweet in the XML, we are creating a new TwitterItem in the IEnumerable<XElement> returned by the Linq query.  We then assign the generated TwitterItem sequence to the ListBox’s ItemsSource property: We’ll then do one more step to complete the application. In the Main.xaml file, we’ll add an ItemTemplate to the ListBox. For the demo, I used a simple template that uses databinding to show the user’s profile image, their tweet and their username. <ListBox Height="521" HorizonalAlignment="Left" Margin="0,131,0,0" Name="listBox1" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="476"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" Height="132"> <Image Source="{Binding ImageSource}" Height="73" Width="73" VerticalAlignment="Top" Margin="0,10,8,0"/> <StackPanel Width="370"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding UserName}" Foreground="#FFC8AB14" FontSize="28" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Message}" TextWrapping="Wrap" FontSize="24" /> </StackPanel> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> Now, pressing F5 again, we are able to reuse the emulator and re-run the application. Once the application has launched, we can type in a Twitter username and press the  Button to see the results. Try my Twitter user name (scottgu) and you’ll get back a result of TwitterItems in the Listbox: Try using the mouse (or if you have a touchscreen device your finger) to scroll the items in the Listbox – you should find that they move very fast within the emulator.  This is because the emulator is hardware accelerated – and so gives you the same fast performance that you get on the actual phone hardware. Summary Silverlight and the VS 2010 Tools for Windows Phone (and the corresponding Expression Blend Tools for Windows Phone) make building Windows Phone applications both really easy and fun.  At MIX this week a number of great partners (including Netflix, FourSquare, Seesmic, Shazaam, Major League Soccer, Graphic.ly, Associated Press, Jackson Fish and more) showed off some killer application prototypes they’ve built over the last few weeks.  You can watch my full day 1 keynote to see them in action. I think they start to show some of the promise and potential of using Silverlight with Windows Phone 7.  I’ll be doing more blog posts in the weeks and months ahead that cover that more. Hope this helps, Scott

We’re happy to welcome Christine Kungl, and Brian Buzzell, from Oracle’s World Wide Alliances & Channels (WWA&C) WebCenter Partner Enablement team, as today’s guests on the Oracle WebCenter blog. Q: What is the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN)?A: Christine: Oracle’s PartnerNetwork (OPN) is a collaborative partnership which allows registered companies specific added value resources to help differentiate themselves from their competition. Through OPN programs it provides companies the ability to seize and target opportunities, educate and train their teams, and leverage unparalleled opportunity given Oracle’s large market footprint. OPN’s multi-level programs are targeted at different levels allowing companies to grow and evolve with Oracle based on their business needs.  As part of their OPN memberships partners are encouraged to become OPN Specialized allowing those partners additional differentiation in Oracle’s Partner Network Community.  Q: What is an OPN Specialization and what resources are available for Specialized Partners?A: Brian: Oracle wanted a better way for our partners to differentiate their special skills and expertise, as well a more effective way to communicate that difference to customers.  Oracle’s expanding product portfolio demanded that we be able to identify partners with significant product knowledge—those who had made an investment in Oracle and a continuing commitment to deliver Oracle solutions. And with more than 30,000 Oracle partners around the world, Oracle needed a way for our customers to choose the right partner for their business. So how did Oracle meet this need? With the new partner program:  Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) Specialized. In this new program, Oracle partners are: Specialized :  Differentiating themselves from the competition with expertise that set them apart Recognized:  Being acknowledged for investing in becoming Oracle experts in specialized areas. What about individual Sales, PreSales & Implementation Specialist/Technical consultants?A: Brian: Each Oracle WebCenter Specialization has unique Business Criteria that must be met in order to achieve that Specialization.  This includes a unique number of transactions (co-sell, re-sell, and referral), customer references and then unique number of specialists as part of a partner team (Sales, Pre-Sales, Implementation, and Support).   Each WebCenter Specialization provides training resources (GLPs, BootCamps, Assessments and Exams for individuals on a partner’s staff to fulfill those requirements.  That criterion can be found for each Specialization on the Specialize tab for each WebCenter Knowledge Zone.  Here are the sample criteria, recommended courses, exams for the WebCenter Portal Specialization: WebCenter Portal Specialization Criteria Q: Do you have any suggestions on the best way for partners to get started if they would like to know more?A: Christine:   The best way to start is for partners is look at their business and core Oracle team focus and then look to become specialized in one or more areas.  Once you have selected the Specializations that are right for your business, you need to follow the first 3 key steps described below. The fourth step outlines the additional process to follow if you meet the criteria to be Advanced Specialized. Note that Step 4 may not be done without first following Steps 1-3.1. Join the Knowledge Zone(s) where you want to achieve Specialized status Go to the Knowledge Zone lick on the "Why Partner" tab Click on the "Join Knowledge Zone" link 2. Meet the Specialization criteria - Define and implement plans in your organization to achieve the competency and business criteria targets of the Specialization. (Note: Worldwide OPN members at the Gold, Platinum, or Diamond level and their Associates at the Gold, Platinum, or Diamond level may count their collective resources to meet the business and competency criteria required for specialization in this area.) 3. Apply for Specialization – when you have met the business and competency criteria required, inform Oracle by completing the following steps: Click on the "Specialize" tab in the Knowledge Zone Click on the "Apply Now" button Complete the online application form Oracle will validate the information provided, and once approved, you will receive notification from Oracle of your awarded Specialized status. • Solaris X86 64-bit Assembly Programming

    - by danx
    Solaris X86 64-bit Assembly Programming This is a simple example on writing, compiling, and debugging Solaris 64-bit x86 assembly language with a C program. This is also referred to as "AMD64" assembly. The term "AMD64" is used in an inclusive sense to refer to all X86 64-bit processors, whether AMD Opteron family or Intel 64 processor family. Both run Solaris x86. I'm keeping this example simple mainly to illustrate how everything comes together—compiler, assembler, linker, and debugger when using assembly language. The example I'm using here is a C program that calls an assembly language program passing a C string. The assembly language program takes the C string and calls printf() with it to print the string. AMD64 Register Usage But first let's review the use of AMD64 registers. AMD64 has several 64-bit registers, some special purpose (such as the stack pointer) and others general purpose. By convention, Solaris follows the AMD64 ABI in register usage, which is the same used by Linux, but different from Microsoft Windows in usage (such as which registers are used to pass parameters). This blog will only discuss conventions for Linux and Solaris. The following chart shows how AMD64 registers are used. The first six parameters to a function are passed through registers. If there's more than six parameters, parameter 7 and above are pushed on the stack before calling the function. The stack is also used to save temporary "stack" variables for use by a function. 64-bit Register Usage %rip Instruction Pointer points to the current instruction %rsp Stack Pointer %rbp Frame Pointer (saved stack pointer pointing to parameters on stack) %rdi Function Parameter 1 %rsi Function Parameter 2 %rdx Function Parameter 3 %rcx Function Parameter 4 %r8 Function Parameter 5 %r9 Function Parameter 6 %rax Function return value %r10, %r11 Temporary registers (need not be saved before used) %rbx, %r12, %r13, %r14, %r15 Temporary registers, but must be saved before use and restored before returning from the current function (usually with the push and pop instructions). 32-, 16-, and 8-bit registers To access the lower 32-, 16-, or 8-bits of a 64-bit register use the following: 64-bit register Least significant 32-bits Least significant 16-bits Least significant 8-bits %rax%eax%ax%al %rbx%ebx%bx%bl %rcx%ecx%cx%cl %rdx%edx%dx%dl %rsi%esi%si%sil %rdi%edi%di%axl %rbp%ebp%bp%bp %rsp%esp%sp%spl %r9%r9d%r9w%r9b %r10%r10d%r10w%r10b %r11%r11d%r11w%r11b %r12%r12d%r12w%r12b %r13%r13d%r13w%r13b %r14%r14d%r14w%r14b %r15%r15d%r15w%r15b %r16%r16d%r16w%r16b There's other registers present, such as the 64-bit %mm registers, 128-bit %xmm registers, 256-bit %ymm registers, and 512-bit %zmm registers. Except for %mm registers, these registers may not present on older AMD64 processors. Assembly Source The following is the source for a C program, helloas1.c, that calls an assembly function, hello_asm(). $ cat helloas1.c extern void hello_asm(char *s); int main(void) { hello_asm("Hello, World!"); } The assembly function called above, hello_asm(), is defined below. $ cat helloas2.s /* * helloas2.s * To build: * cc -m64 -o helloas2-cpp.s -D_ASM -E helloas2.s * cc -m64 -c -o helloas2.o helloas2-cpp.s */ #if defined(lint) || defined(__lint) /* ARGSUSED */ void hello_asm(char *s) { } #else /* lint */ #include <sys/asm_linkage.h> .extern printf ENTRY_NP(hello_asm) // Setup printf parameters on stack mov %rdi, %rsi // P2 (%rsi) is string variable lea .printf_string, %rdi // P1 (%rdi) is printf format string call printf ret SET_SIZE(hello_asm) // Read-only data .text .align 16 .type .printf_string, @object .printf_string: .ascii "The string is: %s.\n\0" #endif /* lint || __lint */ In the assembly source above, the C skeleton code under "#if defined(lint)" is optionally used for lint to check the interfaces with your C program--very useful to catch nasty interface bugs. The "asm_linkage.h" file includes some handy macros useful for assembly, such as ENTRY_NP(), used to define a program entry point, and SET_SIZE(), used to set the function size in the symbol table. The function hello_asm calls C function printf() by passing two parameters, Parameter 1 (P1) is a printf format string, and P2 is a string variable. The function begins by moving %rdi, which contains Parameter 1 (P1) passed hello_asm, to printf()'s P2, %rsi. Then it sets printf's P1, the format string, by loading the address the address of the format string in %rdi, P1. Finally it calls printf. After returning from printf, the hello_asm function returns itself. Larger, more complex assembly functions usually do more setup than the example above. If a function is returning a value, it would set %rax to the return value. Also, it's typical for a function to save the %rbp and %rsp registers of the calling function and to restore these registers before returning. %rsp contains the stack pointer and %rbp contains the frame pointer. Here is the typical function setup and return sequence for a function: ENTRY_NP(sample_assembly_function) push %rbp // save frame pointer on stack mov %rsp, %rbp // save stack pointer in frame pointer xor %rax, %r4ax // set function return value to 0. mov %rbp, %rsp // restore stack pointer pop %rbp // restore frame pointer ret // return to calling function SET_SIZE(sample_assembly_function) Compiling and Running Assembly Use the Solaris cc command to compile both C and assembly source, and to pre-process assembly source. You can also use GNU gcc instead of cc to compile, if you prefer. The "-m64" option tells the compiler to compile in 64-bit address mode (instead of 32-bit). $ cc -m64 -o helloas2-cpp.s -D_ASM -E helloas2.s $ cc -m64 -c -o helloas2.o helloas2-cpp.s $ cc -m64 -c helloas1.c $ cc -m64 -o hello-asm helloas1.o helloas2.o $ file hello-asm helloas1.o helloas2.o hello-asm: ELF 64-bit LSB executable AMD64 Version 1 [SSE FXSR FPU], dynamically linked, not stripped helloas1.o: ELF 64-bit LSB relocatable AMD64 Version 1 helloas2.o: ELF 64-bit LSB relocatable AMD64 Version 1 $ hello-asm The string is: Hello, World!. Debugging Assembly with MDB MDB is the Solaris system debugger. It can also be used to debug user programs, including assembly and C. The following example runs the above program, hello-asm, under control of the debugger. In the example below I load the program, set a breakpoint at the assembly function hello_asm, display the registers and the first parameter, step through the assembly function, and continue execution. $ mdb hello-asm # Start the debugger > hello_asm:b # Set a breakpoint > ::run # Run the program under the debugger mdb: stop at hello_asm mdb: target stopped at: hello_asm: movq %rdi,%rsi > $C # display function stack ffff80ffbffff6e0 hello_asm() ffff80ffbffff6f0 0x400adc() > $r # display registers %rax = 0x0000000000000000 %r8 = 0x0000000000000000 %rbx = 0xffff80ffbf7f8e70 %r9 = 0x0000000000000000 %rcx = 0x0000000000000000 %r10 = 0x0000000000000000 %rdx = 0xffff80ffbffff718 %r11 = 0xffff80ffbf537db8 %rsi = 0xffff80ffbffff708 %r12 = 0x0000000000000000 %rdi = 0x0000000000400cf8 %r13 = 0x0000000000000000 %r14 = 0x0000000000000000 %r15 = 0x0000000000000000 %cs = 0x0053 %fs = 0x0000 %gs = 0x0000 %ds = 0x0000 %es = 0x0000 %ss = 0x004b %rip = 0x0000000000400c70 hello_asm %rbp = 0xffff80ffbffff6e0 %rsp = 0xffff80ffbffff6c8 %rflags = 0x00000282 id=0 vip=0 vif=0 ac=0 vm=0 rf=0 nt=0 iopl=0x0 status=<of,df,IF,tf,SF,zf,af,pf,cf> %gsbase = 0x0000000000000000 %fsbase = 0xffff80ffbf782a40 %trapno = 0x3 %err = 0x0 > ::dis # disassemble the current instructions hello_asm: movq %rdi,%rsi hello_asm+3: leaq 0x400c90,%rdi hello_asm+0xb: call -0x220 <PLT:printf> hello_asm+0x10: ret 0x400c81: nop 0x400c85: nop 0x400c88: nop 0x400c8c: nop 0x400c90: pushq %rsp 0x400c91: pushq $0x74732065 0x400c96: jb +0x69 <0x400d01> > 0x0000000000400cf8/S # %rdi contains Parameter 1 0x400cf8: Hello, World! > [ # Step and execute 1 instruction mdb: target stopped at: hello_asm+3: leaq 0x400c90,%rdi > [ mdb: target stopped at: hello_asm+0xb: call -0x220 <PLT:printf> > [ The string is: Hello, World!. mdb: target stopped at: hello_asm+0x10: ret > [ mdb: target stopped at: main+0x19: movl $0x0,-0x4(%rbp) > :c # continue program execution mdb: target has terminated > $q # quit the MDB debugger $ In the example above, at the start of function hello_asm(), I display the stack contents with "$C", display the registers contents with "$r", then disassemble the current function with "::dis". The first function parameter, which is a C string, is passed by reference with the string address in %rdi (see the register usage chart above). The address is 0x400cf8, so I print the value of the string with the "/S" MDB command: "0x0000000000400cf8/S". I can also print the contents at an address in several other formats. Here's a few popular formats. For more, see the mdb(1) man page for details. address/S C string address/C ASCII character (1 byte) address/E unsigned decimal (8 bytes) address/U unsigned decimal (4 bytes) address/D signed decimal (4 bytes) address/J hexadecimal (8 bytes) address/X hexadecimal (4 bytes) address/B hexadecimal (1 bytes) address/K pointer in hexadecimal (4 or 8 bytes) address/I disassembled instruction Finally, I step through each machine instruction with the "[" command, which steps over functions. If I wanted to enter a function, I would use the "]" command. Then I continue program execution with ":c", which continues until the program terminates. MDB Basic Cheat Sheet Here's a brief cheat sheet of some of the more common MDB commands useful for assembly debugging. There's an entire set of macros and more powerful commands, especially some for debugging the Solaris kernel, but that's beyond the scope of this example. $C Display function stack with pointers $c Display function stack $e Display external function names $v Display non-zero variables and registers $r Display registers ::fpregs Display floating point (or "media" registers). Includes %st, %xmm, and %ymm registers. ::status Display program status ::run Run the program (followed by optional command line parameters) $q Quit the debugger address:b Set a breakpoint address:d Delete a breakpoint $b Display breakpoints :c Continue program execution after a breakpoint [ Step 1 instruction, but step over function calls ] Step 1 instruction address::dis Disassemble instructions at an address ::events Display events Further Information "Assembly Language Techniques for Oracle Solaris on x86 Platforms" by Paul Lowik (2004). • css: zoooming-out inside the browser moves rightmost floated div below other divs

    - by John Sonderson
    I am seeing something strange in both firefox and chrome when I increase the zoom level inside these browsers, although I see nothing wrong with my CSS... I am hoping someone on this group will be able to help. Here is the whole story: I have a right-floated top-level div containing three right-floated right. The three inner divs have all box-model measurements in pixels which add up to the width of the enclosing container. Everything looks fine when the browser size is 100%, but when I start making the browser smaller with CTRL+scrollwheel or CTRL+minus the rightmost margin shrinks down too fast and eventually becomes zero, forcing my rightmost floated inner div to fall down below the other two! I can't make sense out of this, almost seems like some integer division is being performed incorrectly in the browser code, but alas firefox and chrome both display the same result. Here is the example (just zoom out with CTRL-minus to see what I mean): Click Here to View What I Mean on Example Site Just to narrow things down a bit, the tags of interest are the following: div#mainContent div#contentLeft div#contentCenter div#contentRight I've searched stackoverflow for an answer and found the following posts which seem related to my question but was not able to apply them to the problem I am experiencing: http:// stackoverflow.com/questions/6955313/div-moves-incorrectly-on-browser-resize http:// stackoverflow.com/questions/18246882/divs-move-when-resizing-page http:// stackoverflow.com/questions/17637231/moving-an-image-when-browser-resizes http:// stackoverflow.com/questions/5316380/how-to-stop-divs-moving-when-the-browser-is-resized I've duplicated the html and css code below for your convenience: Here is the HTML: <!doctype html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>Pinco</title> <link href="css/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> <header> <div class="logo"> <a href="http://pinco.com"> <img class="logo" src="images/PincoLogo5.png" alt="Pinco" /> </a> </div> <div class="titolo"> <h1>Benvenuti!</h1> <h2>Siete arrivati al sito pinco.</h2> </div> <nav> <ul class="menu"> <li><a href="#">Menù Qui</a></li> <li><a href="#">Menù Quo</a></li> <li><a href="#">Menù Qua</a></li> </ul> </nav> </header> <div id="mainContent"> <div id="contentLeft"> <section> <article> <p> Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. • Adopting Technologies for the Sake of Technologies

    - by shiju
    Unlike other engineering industries, the software engineering industry is really lacking maturity. The lack of maturity can see in different aspects of entire software development life cycle. I think other engineering industries are well organised and structured with common, proven engineering practices. The software engineering industry is greatly a diverse industry with different operating systems, and variety of development platforms, programming languages, frameworks and tools. Now these days, people are going behind the hypes and intellectual thoughts without understanding their core business problems and adopting technologies and practices for the sake of technologies and practices and simply becoming a “poster child” of technologies and practices. Understanding the core business problem and providing best, solid solution with a platform neutral approach, will give you more business values and ROI, instead of blindly adopting technologies and tailor-made your applications for the sake of technologies and practices. People have been simply migrating their solutions in favour of new technologies and different versions of frameworks without any business need. The “Pepsi Challenge” in the Software Development  Pepsi Challenge marketing campaign of the 1980s was a popular and very interesting marketing promotion in which people taste one cup of Pepsi and another cup with Coca Cola. In the taste test, more than 50% of people were preferred Pepsi  over Coca Cola. The success story behind the Pepsi was more sweetness contains in the Pepsi cola. They have simply added more sugar and more people preferred more sweet flavour. You can’t simply identify the better one after sipping one cup of cola based on the sweetness which contains. These things have been happening in the software industry for choosing development frameworks and technologies. People have been simply choosing frameworks based on the initial sugary feeling without understanding its core strengths and weakness. The sugary framework might be more harmful when you develop real-world systems. There is not any silver bullet for solving all kind of problems and frameworks and tools do have strengths and weakness. So it would be better to understand their strength and weakness. And please keep in mind that you have to develop real apps to understand the real capabilities and weakness of a framework. Evaluating a technology based on few blog posts will harm your projects and these bloggers might be lacking real-world experience with the framework. The Problem with Align a Development Practice with Tools Recently I have observed a discussion in a group where one guy asked suggestions for practicing Continuous Delivery (CD) as part of the agile based application engineering. Then the discussion quickly went to using and choosing a Continuous Integration (CI) tool and different people suggested different Continuous Integration (CI) tools for simply practicing Continuous Delivery. If you have worked with core agile engineering practices, you could clearly know that the real essence of agile is neither choosing a tool nor choosing a process. By simply choosing CI tool from a particular vendor will not ensure that you are delivering an evolving software based on customer feedback. You have to understand the real essence of a engineering practice and choose a right tool for practicing it instead of simply focus on a particular tool for a practicing an development practice. If you want to adopt a practice, you need a solid understanding on it with its real essence where tools are just helping us for better automation. Adopting New Technologies for the Sake of Technologies The another problem is that developers have been a tendency to adopt new technologies and simply migrating their existing apps to new technologies. It is okay if your existing system is having problem  with a technology stack or or maintainability challenge with existing solution, and moving to new technology for solving the current problems. We have been adopting new technologies for solving new challenges like solving the scalability challenges when the application or user bases is growing unpredictably. Please keep in mind that all new technologies will become old after working with it for few years. The below Facebook status update of Janakiraman, expresses the attitude of a typical customer. For an example, Node.js is becoming a hottest buzzword in the software industry and many developers are trying to adopt Node.js for their apps. The important thing is that Node.js is a minimalist framework that does some great things for some problems, but it’s not a silver bullet. I have been also working with Node.js which is good for some problems, but really bad for choosing it for all kind of problems. By adopting new technologies for new projects is good if we could get real business values from it because newer framework would solve some existing well known problems and provide better solutions where it can incorporate good solutions for the latest challenges . But adopting a new technology for the sake of new technology is really bad idea. Another example is JavaScript is getting lot of attention so that lot of developers are developing heavy JavaScript centric web apps. First, they will adopt a client-side JavaScript MV* framework from AngularJS, Ember, Backbone etc, and develop a Single Page App(SPA) where they are repeating the mistakes we did in the past with server-side. The mistakes we did in the server-side is transforming to client-side. The problem is that people are just adopting new technologies, but not improving their solutions. I predict that many Single Page App will suck in the future. We need a hybrid approach where we should be able to leverage both server-side and client-side for developing next-generation web apps. The another problem is that if you like a particular framework, use it for all kind of apps. In the past, I know some Silverlight passionate guys were tried to use that framework for all kind of apps including larger line of business apps. And these days developers are migrating their existing Silverlight apps in favour of HTML5 buzzword. So the real question is, what is the business values we are getting from these apps when we are developing it for the sake of a particular technology instead of business need. The another problem is that our solutions consultants are trying to provide unnecessary solutions for the sake of a particular technology or for a hype. For an example, Big Data solutions are great for solving the problem of three Vs : volume, velocity and variety. But trying to put this for every application will make problems. Let’s say, there is a small web site running with limited budget and saying that we need a recommendation engine for the web site with a Hadoop based solution with a 16 node cluster, would be really horrible. If we really need a Hadoop based solution, got for it, but trying to put this for all application would be a big disaster. It would be great if could understand the core business problems first, and later choose a right framework for providing solutions for the actual business problem, instead of trying to provide so many solutions. The Problem with Tied Up to a Platform Vendor Some organizations and teams are tied up with a particular platform vendor where they don’t want to use any product other than their preferred or existing platform vendor. They will accept any product provided by the vendor regardless of its capability. This will lets you some benefits regards with integration and collaboration of different products provided by the same vendor, but it will loose your opportunity to provide better solution for your business problems. For a real world sample scenario, lot of companies have been using SAP for their ERP solutions. When they are thinking about mobility or thinking about developing hybrid mobile apps, they can easily find out a framework from SAP. SAP provides a framework for HTML 5 based UI development named SAPUI5. If you are simply adopting that framework only based for the preference of existing platform vendor, you might be loose different opportunities for providing better solution. Initially you might enjoy the sugary feeling provided by the platform vendor, but you have to think about developing apps which should be capable for solving future challenges. I am not saying that any framework is not good and I believe that all frameworks are good over another one for solving at least one problem. My point is that we should not tied up with any specific platform vendor unless your organization is having resource availability problems. Being Polyglot for Providing Right Solutions The modern software engineering industry is greatly diverse with different tools and platforms. Lot of open source frameworks and new programming languages have been releasing to the developer community, where choosing the right platform without any biased opinion, is really a difficult task. But it would really great if we could develop an attitude with platform neutral mindset and being a polyglot developer for providing better solutions based on the actual business problems. IMHO, we should learn a new programming language and a new framework every year. This will improve the quality of our developer capabilities and also improve the quality of our primary programming language skills. Being polyglot for individual developers and organizational teams will give you greater opportunity to your developer experience and also for your applications. Organizations can analyse their business problem without tied with any technology and later they can provide solutions by choosing different platform and tools. Summary    In this blog post, what I was trying to say that we should not tied up or biased with any development platform, technology, vendor or programming language and we should not adopt technologies and practices for the sake of technologies. If we are adopting a technology or a practice for the sake of it, we are simply becoming a “poster child” of the technology and practice. We should not become a poster child of other people’s intellectual thoughts and theories, instead of it we should become solutions developers and solutions consultants where we should be able to provide better solutions for the business problems. Being a polyglot developer is a good idea for improving your developer skills which lets you provide better solutions for the business problems. The most important thing is that we should become platform neutral developers where our passion should be for providing brilliant solutions. It would be great if we could provide minimalist, pragmatic business solutions. You can follow me on Twitter @shijucv

  • My sound stopped working today, how can I fix it?

    - by Oli
    This seems to be a problem with pulseaudio. I was logged in over VNC on my phone and started playing a video this caused X to crash (as sometimes happens). I restarted and suddenly the sound doesn't work. I have a Intel HDA/Realtek ALC889 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller alsamixer is detecting this just fine. PulseAudio doesn't detect this alsa device so is using auto_null as the default sink (logs below). When I properly kill PulseAudio (tell it not to auto-start) direct ALSA communication with the sound card works just fine. speaker-test, for example, works. So the hardware and ALSA layers are fine IMO. In the logs, it seems that the card might be "busy" but I really don't know how or why it would be now (and never before). Is there an ALSA lock file somewhere that it still there because of my crash? I just ran sudo fuser /dev/snd/* and saw this: oli@bert:~$ sudo fuser /dev/snd/* /dev/snd/controlC0: 1884 /dev/snd/pcmC0D0c: 1884m /dev/snd/timer: 1884 A look at the process list (ps aux | grep 1884) tells me process 1884 is arecord -c 1 -f S16_LE -r 8000 -t raw. No idea what this is or why it's running. When I try and kill arecord (as root), it just respawns and rebinds on the hardware. I'm in a very annoying situation where I don't know what is going on and don't know how to find out. I'm open to all suggestions to get this working again. Fire away. And here's what I get when I stop PA auto-loading, kill it and then start it with -vvvv. oli@bert:~$ pulseaudio -vvvvv I: main.c: setrlimit(RLIMIT_NICE, (31, 31)) failed: Operation not permitted I: main.c: setrlimit(RLIMIT_RTPRIO, (9, 9)) failed: Operation not permitted D: core-rtclock.c: Timer slack is set to 50 us. • Changes to the LINQ-to-StreamInsight Dialect

    - by Roman Schindlauer
    In previous versions of StreamInsight (1.0 through 2.0), CepStream<> represents temporal streams of many varieties: Streams with ‘open’ inputs (e.g., those defined and composed over CepStream<T>.Create(string streamName) Streams with ‘partially bound’ inputs (e.g., those defined and composed over CepStream<T>.Create(Type adapterFactory, …)) Streams with fully bound inputs (e.g., those defined and composed over To*Stream – sequences or DQC) The stream may be embedded (where Server.Create is used) The stream may be remote (where Server.Connect is used) When adding support for new programming primitives in StreamInsight 2.1, we faced a choice: Add a fourth variety (use CepStream<> to represent streams that are bound the new programming model constructs), or introduce a separate type that represents temporal streams in the new user model. We opted for the latter. Introducing a new type has the effect of reducing the number of (confusing) runtime failures due to inappropriate uses of CepStream<> instances in the incorrect context. The new types are: IStreamable<>, which logically represents a temporal stream. IQStreamable<> : IStreamable<>, which represents a queryable temporal stream. Its relationship to IStreamable<> is analogous to the relationship of IQueryable<> to IEnumerable<>. The developer can compose temporal queries over remote stream sources using this type. The syntax of temporal queries composed over IQStreamable<> is mostly consistent with the syntax of our existing CepStream<>-based LINQ provider. However, we have taken the opportunity to refine certain aspects of the language surface. Differences are outlined below. Because 2.1 introduces new types to represent temporal queries, the changes outlined in this post do no impact existing StreamInsight applications using the existing types! SelectMany StreamInsight does not support the SelectMany operator in its usual form (which is analogous to SQL’s “CROSS APPLY” operator): static IEnumerable<R> SelectMany<T, R>(this IEnumerable<T> source, Func<T, IEnumerable<R>> collectionSelector) It instead uses SelectMany as a convenient syntactic representation of an inner join. The parameter to the selector function is thus unavailable. Because the parameter isn’t supported, its type in StreamInsight 1.0 – 2.0 wasn’t carefully scrutinized. Unfortunately, the type chosen for the parameter is nonsensical to LINQ programmers: static CepStream<R> SelectMany<T, R>(this CepStream<T> source, Expression<Func<CepStream<T>, CepStream<R>>> streamSelector) Using Unit as the type for the parameter accurately reflects the StreamInsight’s capabilities: static IQStreamable<R> SelectMany<T, R>(this IQStreamable<T> source, Expression<Func<Unit, IQStreamable<R>>> streamSelector) For queries that succeed – that is, queries that do not reference the stream selector parameter – there is no difference between the code written for the two overloads: from x in xs from y in ys select f(x, y) Top-K The Take operator used in StreamInsight causes confusion for LINQ programmers because it is applied to the (unbounded) stream rather than the (bounded) window, suggesting that the query as a whole will return k rows: (from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() from x in win orderby x.A select x.B).Take(k) The use of SelectMany is also unfortunate in this context because it implies the availability of the window parameter within the remainder of the comprehension. The following compiles but fails at runtime: (from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() from x in win orderby x.A select win).Take(k) The Take operator in 2.1 is applied to the window rather than the stream: Before After (from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() from x in win orderby x.A select x.B).Take(k) from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() from b in     (from x in win     orderby x.A     select x.B).Take(k) select b Multicast We are introducing an explicit multicast operator in order to preserve expression identity, which is important given the semantics about moving code to and from StreamInsight. This also better matches existing LINQ dialects, such as Reactive. This pattern enables expressing multicasting in two ways: Implicit Explicit var ys = from x in xs          where x.A > 1          select x; var zs = from y1 in ys          from y2 in ys.ShiftEventTime(_ => TimeSpan.FromSeconds(1))          select y1 + y2; var ys = from x in xs          where x.A > 1          select x; var zs = ys.Multicast(ys1 =>     from y1 in ys1     from y2 in ys1.ShiftEventTime(_ => TimeSpan.FromSeconds(1))     select y1 + y2; Notice the product translates an expression using implicit multicast into an expression using the explicit multicast operator. The user does not see this translation. Default window policies Only default window policies are supported in the new surface. Other policies can be simulated by using AlterEventLifetime. Before After xs.SnapshotWindow(     WindowInputPolicy.ClipToWindow,     SnapshotWindowInputPolicy.Clip) xs.SnapshotWindow() xs.TumblingWindow(     TimeSpan.FromSeconds(1),     HoppingWindowOutputPolicy.PointAlignToWindowEnd) xs.TumblingWindow(     TimeSpan.FromSeconds(1)) xs.TumblingWindow(     TimeSpan.FromSeconds(1),     HoppingWindowOutputPolicy.ClipToWindowEnd) Not supported … LeftAntiJoin Representation of LASJ as a correlated sub-query in the LINQ surface is problematic as the StreamInsight engine does not support correlated sub-queries (see discussion of SelectMany). The current syntax requires the introduction of an otherwise unsupported ‘IsEmpty()’ operator. As a result, the pattern is not discoverable and implies capabilities not present in the server. The direct representation of LASJ is used instead: Before After from x in xs where     (from y in ys     where x.A > y.B     select y).IsEmpty() select x xs.LeftAntiJoin(ys, (x, y) => x.A > y.B) from x in xs where     (from y in ys     where x.A == y.B     select y).IsEmpty() select x xs.LeftAntiJoin(ys, x => x.A, y => y.B) ApplyWithUnion The ApplyWithUnion methods have been deprecated since their signatures are redundant given the standard SelectMany overloads: Before After xs.GroupBy(x => x.A).ApplyWithUnion(gs => from win in gs.SnapshotWindow() select win.Count()) xs.GroupBy(x => x.A).SelectMany(     gs =>     from win in gs.SnapshotWindow()     select win.Count()) xs.GroupBy(x => x.A).ApplyWithUnion(gs => from win in gs.SnapshotWindow() select win.Count(), r => new { r.Key, Count = r.Payload }) from x in xs group x by x.A into gs from win in gs.SnapshotWindow() select new { gs.Key, Count = win.Count() } Alternate UDO syntax The representation of UDOs in the StreamInsight LINQ dialect confuses cardinalities. Based on the semantics of user-defined operators in StreamInsight, one would expect to construct queries in the following form: from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() from y in MyUdo(win) select y Instead, the UDO proxy method is referenced within a projection, and the (many) results returned by the user code are automatically flattened into a stream: from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() select MyUdo(win) The “many-or-one” confusion is exemplified by the following example that compiles but fails at runtime: from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() select MyUdo(win) + win.Count() The above query must fail because the UDO is in fact returning many values per window while the count aggregate is returning one. Original syntax New alternate syntax from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() select win.UdoProxy(1) from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() from y in win.UserDefinedOperator(() => new Udo(1)) select y -or- from win in xs.SnapshotWindow() from y in win.UdoMacro(1) select y Notice that this formulation also sidesteps the dynamic type pitfalls of the existing “proxy method” approach to UDOs, in which the type of the UDO implementation (TInput, TOuput) and the type of its constructor arguments (TConfig) need to align in a precise and non-obvious way with the argument and return types for the corresponding proxy method. UDSO syntax UDSO currently leverages the DataContractSerializer to clone initial state for logical instances of the user operator. Initial state will instead be described by an expression in the new LINQ surface. Before After xs.Scan(new Udso()) xs.Scan(() => new Udso()) Name changes ShiftEventTime => AlterEventStartTime: The alter event lifetime overload taking a new start time value has been renamed. • Big GRC: Turning Data into Actionable GRC Intelligence

    - by Jenna Danko
    While it’s no longer headline news that Governments have carried out large scale data-mining programmes aimed at terrorism detection and identifying other patterns of interest across a wide range of digital data sources, the debate over the ethics and justification over this action, will clearly continue for some time to come. What is becoming clear is that these programmes are a framework for the collation and aggregation of massive amounts of unstructured data and from this, the creation of actionable intelligence from analyses that allowed the analysts to explore and extract a variety of patterns and then direct resources. This data included audio and video chats, phone calls, photographs, e-mails, documents, internet searches, social media posts and mobile phone logs and connections. Although Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) professionals are not looking at the implementation of such programmes, there are many similar GRC “Big data” challenges to be faced and potential lessons to be learned from these high profile government programmes that can be applied a lot closer to home. For example, how can GRC professionals collect, manage and analyze an enormous and disparate volume of data to create and manage their own actionable intelligence covering hidden signs and patterns of criminal activity, the early or retrospective, violation of regulations/laws/corporate policies and procedures, emerging risks and weakening controls etc. Not exactly the stuff of James Bond to be sure, but it is certainly more applicable to most GRC professional’s day to day challenges. So what is Big Data and how can it benefit the GRC process? Although it often varies, the definition of Big Data largely refers to the following types of data: Traditional Enterprise Data – includes customer information from CRM systems, transactional ERP data, web store transactions, and general ledger data. Machine-Generated /Sensor Data – includes Call Detail Records (“CDR”), weblogs and trading systems data. Social Data – includes customer feedback streams, micro-blogging sites like Twitter, and social media platforms like Facebook. The McKinsey Global Institute estimates that data volume is growing 40% per year, and will grow 44x between 2009 and 2020. But while it’s often the most visible parameter, volume of data is not the only characteristic that matters. In fact, according to sources such as Forrester there are four key characteristics that define big data: Volume. Machine-generated data is produced in much larger quantities than non-traditional data. This is all the data generated by IT systems that power the enterprise. This includes live data from packaged and custom applications – for example, app servers, Web servers, databases, networks, virtual machines, telecom equipment, and much more. Velocity. Social media data streams – while not as massive as machine-generated data – produce a large influx of opinions and relationships valuable to customer relationship management as well as offering early insight into potential reputational risk issues. Even at 140 characters per tweet, the high velocity (or frequency) of Twitter data ensures large volumes (over 8 TB per day) need to be managed. Variety. Traditional data formats tend to be relatively well defined by a data schema and change slowly. In contrast, non-traditional data formats exhibit a dizzying rate of change. Without question, all GRC professionals work in a dynamic environment and as new services, new products, new business lines are added or new marketing campaigns executed for example, new data types are needed to capture the resultant information.  Value. The economic value of data varies significantly. Typically, there is good information hidden amongst a larger body of non-traditional data that GRC professionals can use to add real value to the organisation; the greater challenge is identifying what is valuable and then transforming and extracting that data for analysis and action. For example, customer service calls and emails have millions of useful data points and have long been a source of information to GRC professionals. Those calls and emails are critical in helping GRC professionals better identify hidden patterns and implement new policies that can reduce the amount of customer complaints.   Now on a scale and depth far beyond those in place today, all that unstructured call and email data can be captured, stored and analyzed to reveal the reasons for the contact, perhaps with the aggregated customer results cross referenced against what is being said about the organization or a similar peer organization on social media. The organization can then take positive actions, communicating to the market in advance of issues reaching the press, strengthening controls, adjusting risk profiles, changing policy and procedures and completely minimizing, if not eliminating, complaints and compensation for that specific reason in the future. In this one example of many similar ones, the GRC team(s) has demonstrated real and tangible business value. Big Challenges - Big Opportunities As pointed out by recent Forrester research, high performing companies (those that are growing 15% or more year-on-year compared to their peers) are taking a selective approach to investing in Big Data.  "Tomorrow's winners understand this, and they are making selective investments aimed at specific opportunities with tangible benefits where big data offers a more economical solution to meet a need." (Forrsights Strategy Spotlight: Business Intelligence and Big Data, Q4 2012) As pointed out earlier, with the ever increasing volume of regulatory demands and fines for getting it wrong, limited resource availability and out of date or inadequate GRC systems all contributing to a higher cost of compliance and/or higher risk profile than desired – a big data investment in GRC clearly falls into this category. However, to make the most of big data organizations must evolve both their business and IT procedures, processes, people and infrastructures to handle these new high-volume, high-velocity, high-variety sources of data and be able integrate them with the pre-existing company data to be analyzed. GRC big data clearly allows the organization access to and management over a huge amount of often very sensitive information that although can help create a more risk intelligent organization, also presents numerous data governance challenges, including regulatory compliance and information security. In addition to client and regulatory demands over better information security and data protection the sheer amount of information organizations deal with the need to quickly access, classify, protect and manage that information can quickly become a key issue  from a legal, as well as technical or operational standpoint. However, by making information governance processes a bigger part of everyday operations, organizations can make sure data remains readily available and protected. The Right GRC & Big Data Partnership Becomes Key  The "getting it right first time" mantra used in so many companies remains essential for any GRC team that is sponsoring, helping kick start, or even overseeing a big data project. To make a big data GRC initiative work and get the desired value, partnerships with companies, who have a long history of success in delivering successful GRC solutions as well as being at the very forefront of technology innovation, becomes key. Clearly solutions can be built in-house more cheaply than through vendor, but as has been proven time and time again, when it comes to self built solutions covering AML and Fraud for example, few have able to scale or adapt appropriately to meet the changing regulations or challenges that the GRC teams face on a daily basis. This has led to the creation of GRC silo’s that are causing so many headaches today. The solutions that stand out and should be explored are the ones that can seamlessly merge the traditional world of well-known data, analytics and visualization with the new world of seemingly innumerable data sources, utilizing Big Data technologies to generate new GRC insights right across the enterprise.Ultimately, Big Data is here to stay, and organizations that embrace its potential and outline a viable strategy, as well as understand and build a solid analytical foundation, will be the ones that are well positioned to make the most of it. A Blueprint and Roadmap Service for Big Data Big data adoption is first and foremost a business decision. As such it is essential that your partner can align your strategies, goals, and objectives with an architecture vision and roadmap to accelerate adoption of big data for your environment, as well as establish practical, effective governance that will maintain a well managed environment going forward. Key Activities: While your initiatives will clearly vary, there are some generic starting points the team and organization will need to complete: Clearly define your drivers, strategies, goals, objectives and requirements as it relates to big data Conduct a big data readiness and Information Architecture maturity assessment Develop future state big data architecture, including views across all relevant architecture domains; business, applications, information, and technology Provide initial guidance on big data candidate selection for migrations or implementation Develop a strategic roadmap and implementation plan that reflects a prioritization of initiatives based on business impact and technology dependency, and an incremental integration approach for evolving your current state to the target future state in a manner that represents the least amount of risk and impact of change on the business Provide recommendations for practical, effective Data Governance, Data Quality Management, and Information Lifecycle Management to maintain a well-managed environment Conduct an executive workshop with recommendations and next steps There is little debate that managing risk and data are the two biggest obstacles encountered by financial institutions.  Big data is here to stay and risk management certainly is not going anywhere, and ultimately financial services industry organizations that embrace its potential and outline a viable strategy, as well as understand and build a solid analytical foundation, will be best positioned to make the most of it. • CSS Dropdown Menu issues

    - by Simon Hume
    Can anyone help with a small problem. I've got a nice simple CSS dropdown menu http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/CSSDropdown.html The problem I have is when you rollover a menu item that has children which are wider than the content, it pushes the whole menu right. Aside of shortening the child menu links down, is there any tweak I can make to my CSS to stop this happening? CSS Code: /* General */ #cssdropdown, #cssdropdown ul { list-style: none; } #cssdropdown, #cssdropdown * { padding: 0; margin: 0; } #cssdropdown {padding:43px 0px 0px 0px;} /* Head links */ #cssdropdown li.headlink { margin:0px 40px 0px -1px; float: left; background-color: #e9e9e9;} #cssdropdown li.headlink a { display: block; padding: 0px 0px 0px 5px; text-decoration:none; } #cssdropdown li.headlink a:hover { text-decoration:underline; } /* Child lists and links */ #cssdropdown li.headlink ul { display: none; text-align: left; padding:10px 0px 0px 0px; font-size:12px; float:left;} #cssdropdown li.headlink:hover ul { display: block; } #cssdropdown li.headlink ul li a { padding: 5px; height: 17px; } #cssdropdown li.headlink ul li a:hover { background-color: #333; } /* Pretty styling */ body { font-family:Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif; font-size: 16px; } #cssdropdown a { color: grey; } #cssdropdown ul li a:hover { text-decoration: none; } #cssdropdown li.headlink { background-color: white; } #cssdropdown li.headlink ul { padding-bottom: 10px;} HTML: <ul id="cssdropdown"> <li class="headlink"><a href="http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/index.php">HOME</a></li> <li class="headlink"><a href="http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/gallery/gallery.php">GALLERY</a> <ul> <li><a href="http://amazon.com/">CELEBRITY</a></li> <li><a href="http://ebay.com/">BEFORE &amp; AFTER</a></li> <li><a href="http://craigslist.com/">HAIR TYPES</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="headlink"><a href="http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/about-cinderella-hair-extensions/about-us.php">ABOUT US</a> <ul> <li><a href="http://amazon.com/">WHY CHOOSE CINDERELLA</a></li> <li><a href="http://ebay.com/">TESTIMONIALS</a></li> <li><a href="http://craigslist.com/">MINI VIDEO CLIPS</a></li> <li><a href="http://craigslist.com/">OUR HAIR PRODUCTS</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="headlink"><a href="http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/news-and-offers/news.php">NEWS &amp; OFFERS</a> <ul> <li><a href="http://amazon.com/">VERA WANG FREE GIVEAWAY</a></li> <li><a href="http://ebay.com/">CINDERELLA ON TV</a></li> <li><a href="http://craigslist.com/">CINDERELLA IN THE PRESS</a></li> <li><a href="http://craigslist.com/">CINDRELLA NEWSLETTERS</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="headlink"><a href="http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/cinderella-salon/salon-finder.php">SALON FINDER</a></li> </ul> JS Code: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#cssdropdown li.headlink').hover( function() { $('ul', this).css('display', 'block'); }, function() { $('ul', this).css('display', 'none'); }); }); Full code is on the link above, just view source.

  • WPF Blurry Images - Bitmap Class

    - by Luke
    I am using the following sample at http://blogs.msdn.com/dwayneneed/archive/2007/10/05/blurry-bitmaps.aspx within VB.NET. The code is shown below. I am having a problem when my application loads the CPU is pegging 50-70%. I have determined that the problem is with the Bitmap class. The OnLayoutUpdated() method is calling the InvalidateVisual() continously. This is because some points are not returning as equal but rather, Point(0.0,-0.5) Can anyone see any bugs within this code or know a better implmentation for pixel snapping a Bitmap image so it is not blurry? p.s. The sample code was in C#, however I believe that it was converted correctly. • flash blocking javascript events

    - by jedierikb
    this is an edit of the original post now that I better understand the problem. now with source code! In IE, if body (or another html div has focus), then you keypress & click on flash at the same time, then release... a keyup event is never fired. It is not fired in javascript or in flash. Where is this keyup event? This is the order of event firing you get instead: javascriptKeyEvent:bodyDn ** currentFocuedElement: body javascriptKeyEvent:docDn ** currentFocuedElement: body actionScriptEvent::activate ** currentFocuedElement: [object] actionScriptEvent::mouseDown ** currentFocuedElement: [object] actionScriptEvent::mouseUp ** currentFocuedElement: [object] Subsequent keyup and keydown events are captured by flash, but that initial keyUp is never fired.. anywhere. And I need that keyup! Here is the html/javascript: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="p.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script> <script> function ic( evt ) { Event.observe( $("f1"), 'keyup', onKeyHandler.bindAsEventListener( this, "f1Up" ) ); Event.observe( $("f2"), 'keyup', onKeyHandler.bindAsEventListener( this, "f2Up" ) ); Event.observe( document, 'keyup', onKeyHandler.bindAsEventListener( this, "docUp" ) ); Event.observe( $("body"), 'keyup', onKeyHandler.bindAsEventListener( this, "bodyUp" ) ); Event.observe( window, 'keyup', onKeyHandler.bindAsEventListener( this, "windowUp" ) ); Event.observe( $("f1"), 'keydown', onKeyHandler.bindAsEventListener( this, "f1Dn" ) ); Event.observe( $("f2"), 'keydown', onKeyHandler.bindAsEventListener( this, "f2Dn" ) ); Event.observe( document, 'keydown', onKeyHandler.bindAsEventListener( this, "docDn" ) ); Event.observe( $("body"), 'keydown', onKeyHandler.bindAsEventListener( this, "bodyDn" ) ); Event.observe( window, 'keydown', onKeyHandler.bindAsEventListener( this, "windowDn" ) ); Event.observe( "clr", "mousedown", clearHandler.bindAsEventListener( this ) ); swfobject.embedSWF( "tmp.swf", "f2", "100%", "20px", "9.0.0.0", null, {}, {}, {} ); } function clearHandler( evt ) { clear( ); } function clear( ) { $("log").innerHTML = ""; } function onKeyHandler( evt, dn ) { logIt( "javascriptKeyEvent:"+dn ); } function AS2JS( wha ) { logIt( "actionScriptEvent::" + wha ); } function logIt( k ) { var id = document.activeElement; if (id.identify) { id = id.identify(); } $("log").innerHTML = k + " ** focuedElement: " + id + "<br>" + $("log").innerHTML; } Event.observe( window, 'load', ic.bindAsEventListener(this) ); </script> </head> <body id="body"> <div id="f1"><div id="f2" style="width:100%;height:20px; position:absolute; bottom:0px;"></div></div> <div id="clr" style="color:blue;">clear</div> <div id="log" style="overflow:auto;height:200px;width:500px;"></div> </body> </html> Here is the as3 code: package { import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.display.StageAlign; import flash.display.StageScaleMode; import flash.events.KeyboardEvent; import flash.events.MouseEvent; import flash.events.Event; import flash.external.ExternalInterface; public class tmpa extends Sprite { public function tmpa( ):void { extInt("flashInit"); stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT; stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE; stage.addEventListener( KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyDnCb, false, 0, true ); stage.addEventListener( KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP, keyUpCb, false, 0, true ); stage.addEventListener( MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mDownCb, false, 0, true ); stage.addEventListener( MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, mUpCb, false, 0, true ); addEventListener( Event.ACTIVATE, activateCb, false, 0, true ); addEventListener( Event.DEACTIVATE, dectivateCb, false, 0, true ); } private function activateCb( evt:Event ):void { extInt("activate"); } private function dectivateCb( evt:Event ):void { extInt("deactivate"); } private function mDownCb( evt:MouseEvent ):void { extInt("mouseDown"); } private function mUpCb( evt:MouseEvent ):void { extInt("mouseUp"); } private function keyDnCb( evt:KeyboardEvent ):void { extInt( "keyDn" ); } private function keyUpCb( evt:KeyboardEvent ):void { extInt( "keyUp" ); } private function extInt( wha:String ):void { try { ExternalInterface.call( "AS2JS", wha ); } catch (ex:Error) { trace('ex: ' + ex); } } } }

  • Rails, gmail: howto get plain/text from body

    - by atmorell
    Hello, I am loading am email with IMAP and parsing it with mail. This works very well, however the mail.body.decoded field contains a lot of formatting. How do I dig out the plain/txt body of the email - ignore attachements, formatting etc. It works fine if I try with an email without html. source = imap.uid_fetch(uid, ['RFC822']).first.attr['RFC822'] mail = Mail.new(source) This body content looks like this: Mail::Body:0x7f36ed468270 @epilogue="", @boundary="_004_4C49171DCB8C4540844E69DD39FDD98Ffirm_", @encoding="7bit", @raw_source="--_004_4C49171DCB8C4540844E69DD39FDD98Ffirm_\r\nContent-Type: multipart/alternative;\r\n\tboundary=\"_000_4C49171DCB8C4540844E69DD39FDD98Ffirm_\"\r\n\r\n--_000_4C49171DCB8C4540844E69DD39FDD98Ffirm_\r\nContent-Type: text/plain; charset=\"iso-8859-1\"\r\nContent-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable\r\n\r\ndasdsasda\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nMed venlig hilsen / Med V=E4nlig H=E4lsning / Best Regards\r\r\nAsbj=F8rn Toke Morell. .\r\n+45 7020 0160\r\n+45 2152 0015\r\n[cid:[email protected]]\r\nhttp://www..dk\r\n\r\n\r\n--_000_4C49171DCB8C4540844E69DD39FDD98Ffirm_\r\nContent-Type: text/html; charset=\"iso-8859-1\"\r\nContent-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable\r\n\r\n<html>headheadbody style3D"word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode:=\r\n space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; ">dasdsasda<br><div apple-co=\r\nntent-edited=3D"true">\r\n<span class=3D"Apple-style-span" style=3D"border-collapse: separate; color:=\r\n rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Helvetica; font-size: medium; font-style: norma=\r\nl; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-=\r\nheight: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: auto; text-indent: 0px; text-transf=\r\norm: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-borde=\r\nr-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; -webkit-te=\r\nxt-decorations-in-effect: none; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-tex=\r\nt-stroke-width: 0px; "><span class=3D"Apple-style-span" style=3D"font-famil=\r\ny: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; "><span class=3D"Apple-style-span"=\r\n style=3D"border-collapse: separate; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Helv=\r\netica; font-size: medium; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-we=\r\night: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: 2; text=\r\n-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-sp=\r\nacing: 0px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical=\r\n-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; -webkit-text-size-=\r\nadjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; "><span class=3D"Apple-style-=\r\nspan" style=3D"font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; "><div st=\r\nyle=3D"margin-top: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; margin-=\r\nleft: 0cm; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; "><font class=\r\n=3D"Apple-style-span" color=3D"#000080" face=3D"'Times New Roman', serif" s=\r\nize=3D"3"><span class=3D"Apple-style-span" style=3D"font-size: 13px; "><br =\r\nclass=3D"Apple-interchange-newline"><br></span></font></div><div style=3D"m=\r\nargin-top: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; margin-left: 0c=\r\nm; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; "><font class=3D"Appl=\r\ne-style-span" color=3D"#000080" face=3D"'Times New Roman', serif" size=3D"3=\r\n"><span class=3D"Apple-style-span" style=3D"font-size: 13px; "><br></span><=\r\n/font></div><div style=3D"margin-top: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom=\r\n: 0.0001pt; margin-left: 0cm; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-s=\r\nerif; "><span style=3D"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', ser=\r\nif; color: navy; ">Med venlig hilsen / Med V=E4nlig H=E4lsning / Best Regar=\r\nds&nbsp;<br>firm<br>Asbj=F8rn Toke Morell...   • how to integrate jquery with jsf richfaces tags for print the image and textarea content?

    - by eswaramoorthy-nec
    hi, Here i write code to take printout the textarea content using jquery. I load the two java script (jquery-1.3.2.js and jquery.print.js) But these two source file not support rich:datascroller tag.. That means there is no reaction in datascroller. I need to take print the textarea content and also perfectly work to datascroller also. Here i give jsp and related java files. This code have datatable, rich:datascroller and textarea. Datatable for only used for test the datascroller component. My focus : print the textarea content as well as perfectly work to datascroller component. printer.jsp <%@page contentType="text/html" pageEncoding="UTF-8"%> <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h" %> <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f" %> <%@ taglib uri="http://richfaces.org/a4j" prefix="a4j"%> <%@ taglib uri="http://richfaces.org/rich" prefix="rich"%> <html> <head> <title>Print Viewer </title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> <a4j:loadScript src="resource/jquery-1.3.2.js"/> <a4j:loadScript src="resource/jquery.print.js"/> // The problem is : above two loadscript does not support datascroller //componenet. // But that two jquery file for using to take the print. <script type="text/javascript"> function printData() { //Print the Div content for textarea jQuery( ".printable" ).print(); return( false ); } </script> </head> <body> <h:form id="printViewerForm" binding="#{PrintViewer.initForm}"> <rich:panel id="printViewerRichPanel"> <h:panelGrid cellpadding="3" columns="2" id="printPanelGridId" cellspacing="3" border ="1"> <h:panelGrid> //DataScroller for dataTable <rich:datascroller id = "dataScrollerTop" align="center" for= "printDataTable" page="1" maxPages="20"/> <rich:dataTable id="printDataTable" value="#{PrintViewer.printViewerList}" cellpadding="3" rows = "5" rowKeyVar="rowIndex" cellspacing="3" var="printViewerResultListTo"> <f:facet name="header"> <rich:columnGroup> <rich:column> <h:outputText value="PrintTable"/> </rich:column> </rich:columnGroup> </f:facet> <rich:column> <h:outputText value="#{printViewerResultListTo.printName}"/> </rich:column> </rich:dataTable> </h:panelGrid> //Print Content Region <a4j:region id="printContentViewRegion"> <a4j:commandButton id="printButton" value="PrintContent" onclick="printData()"/> <div id="printContentDiv" class="printable"> <h:inputTextarea id="printContentTextArea" style="width:300px;height:300px; value =" This is Sample Jquery For Test working Text Area"/> </div> </a4j:region> </h:panelGrid> </rich:panel> </h:form> </body> PrintViewer.java import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.List; import javax.faces.component.html.HtmlForm; public class PrintViewer { private HtmlForm initForm; private List printViewerList = new ArrayList(); public HtmlForm getInitForm() { printViewerList = getPrintList(); return initForm; } private List getUploadList() { if (!printViewerList.isEmpty()) { printViewerList.clear(); } printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 1")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 2")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 3")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 4")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 5")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 6")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 7")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 8")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 9")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 10")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 11")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 12")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 13")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 14")); printViewerList.add(new PrintViewerResultListTo("print 15")); return printViewerList; } public void setInitForm(HtmlForm initForm) { this.initForm = initForm; } public List getPrintViewerList() { return printViewerList; } public void setPrintViewerList(List printViewerList) { this.printViewerList = printViewerList; } } PrintViewerResultListTo.java public class PrintViewerResultListTo { private String printName; PrintViewerResultListTo(String printName) { this.printName = printName; } public String getPrintName() { return printName; } public void setPrintName(String printName) { this.printName = printName; } } I hope help me about this. I am able to diplay the data when i declare it on my code but when i store the same data in a json format so i can reference it in my script,i get an empty grid. This is my json file; { data: [ ['10''myfile','Css', 'CS Degree','Dr. Bottoman','This is mine'], ['10'myfile2','CS716', 'CS Degree','Prof Frank', 'This is course'], ['10'myfile3 ','CS714', 'CS Degree', 'Dr. Ree', 'Welcome'], ['14', 'myfile4','CS772', 'CS Degree', 'Mr. Boss', 'This will display content' ], ['18', 'myfile5','CS774', 'CS Degree','Ms. Kirk', 'This is networks.' ] ] } and below is my code; @import "../../../dojo/resources/dojo.css"; @import "../_grid/Grid.css"; body { font-size: 1.0em; } #grid { height: 400px; border: 1px solid silver; } .text-oneline { white-space: nowrap; overflow: hidden; text-overflow: ellipsis; } .text-scrolling { height: 4em; overflow: auto; } .text-scrolling { width: 21.5em; } dojo.require("dojox.grid.Grid"); dojo.require("dojox.grid._data.model"); dojo.require("dojo.parser"); <script type="text/javascript"> /*<span dojoType="dojo.data.ItemFileWriteStore" jsId="myStore" url="course.json"> </span>*/ data = [ ['10''myfile','Css', 'CS Degree','Dr. Bottoman','This is mine'], ['10'myfile2','CS716', 'CS Degree','Prof Frank', 'This is course'], ['10'myfile3 ','CS714', 'CS Degree', 'Dr. Ree', 'Welcome'], ['14', 'myfile4','CS772', 'CS Degree', 'Mr. Boss', 'This will display content' ], ['18', 'myfile5','CS774', 'CS Degree','Ms. Kirk', 'This is networks.' ] ]; getDetailData = function(inRowIndex) { var row = data[this.grid.dataRow % data.length ]; switch (this.index) { case 0: return row[5]; case 1: return row[2]; case 2: return row[0]; case 3: return row[1]; case 4: return row[3]; case 5: return row[4]; default: return row[this.index]; } } getName = function(inRowIndex) { var row = data[inRowIndex % data.length]; return row[1]; } // Main grid structure var gridCells = [ { type: 'dojox.GridRowView', width: '20px' }, { onBeforeRow: function(inDataIndex, inSubRows) { inSubRows[1].hidden = !detailRows[inDataIndex]; }, cells: [[ { name: 'Master', width: 3, get: getCheck, styles: 'text-align: center;' }, { name: 'Detail', get: getName, width: 60 }, ], [ { name: '', get: getDetail, colSpan: 2, styles: 'padding: 0; margin: 0;'} ]] } ]; // html for the +/- cell function getCheck(inRowIndex) { var image = (detailRows[inRowIndex] ?   • Problem calling linux C code from FIQ handler

    - by fastmonkeywheels
    I'm working on an armv6 core and have an FIQ hander that works great when I do all of my work in it. However I need to branch to some additional code that's too large for the FIQ memory area. The FIQ handler gets copied from fiq_start to fiq_end to 0xFFFF001C when registered static void test_fiq_handler(void) { asm volatile("\ .global fiq_start\n\ fiq_start:"); // clear gpio irq asm("ldr r10, GPIO_BASE_ISR"); asm("ldr r9, [r10]"); asm("orr r9, #0x04"); asm("str r9, [r10]"); // clear force register asm("ldr r10, AVIC_BASE_INTFRCH"); asm("ldr r9, [r10]"); asm("mov r9, #0"); asm("str r9, [r10]"); // prepare branch register asm(" ldr r11, fiq_handler"); // save all registers, build sp and branch to C asm(" adr r9, regpool"); asm(" stmia r9, {r0 - r8, r14}"); asm(" adr sp, fiq_sp"); asm(" ldr sp, [sp]"); asm(" add lr, pc,#4"); asm(" mov pc, r11"); #if 0 asm("ldr r10, IOMUX_ADDR12"); asm("ldr r9, [r10]"); asm("orr r9, #0x08 @ top/vertex LED"); asm("str r9,[r10] @turn on LED"); asm("bic r9, #0x08 @ top/vertex LED"); asm("str r9,[r10] @turn on LED"); #endif asm(" adr r9, regpool"); asm(" ldmia r9, {r0 - r8, r14}"); // return asm("subs pc, r14, #4"); asm("IOMUX_ADDR12: .word 0xFC2A4000"); asm("AVIC_BASE_INTCNTL: .word 0xFC400000"); asm("AVIC_BASE_INTENNUM: .word 0xFC400008"); asm("AVIC_BASE_INTDISNUM: .word 0xFC40000C"); asm("AVIC_BASE_FIVECSR: .word 0xFC400044"); asm("AVIC_BASE_INTFRCH: .word 0xFC400050"); asm("GPIO_BASE_ISR: .word 0xFC2CC018"); asm(".globl fiq_handler"); asm("fiq_sp: .long fiq_stack+120"); asm("fiq_handler: .long 0"); asm("regpool: .space 40"); asm(".pool"); asm(".align 5"); asm("fiq_stack: .space 124"); asm(".global fiq_end"); asm("fiq_end:"); } fiq_hander gets set to the following function: static void fiq_flip_pins(void) { asm("ldr r10, IOMUX_ADDR12_k"); asm("ldr r9, [r10]"); asm("orr r9, #0x08 @ top/vertex LED"); asm("str r9,[r10] @turn on LED"); asm("bic r9, #0x08 @ top/vertex LED"); asm("str r9,[r10] @turn on LED"); asm("IOMUX_ADDR12_k: .word 0xFC2A4000"); } EXPORT_SYMBOL(fiq_flip_pins); I know that since the FIQ handler operates outside of any normal kernel API's and that it is a rather high priority interrupt I must ensure that whatever I call is already swapped into memory. I do this by having the fiq_flip_pins function defined in the monolithic kernel and not as a module which gets vmalloc. If I don't branch to the fiq_flip_pins function, and instead do the work in the test_fiq_handler function everything works as expected. It's the branching that's causing me problems at the moment. Right after branching I get a kernel panic about a paging request. I don't understand why I'm getting the paging request. fiq_flip_pins is in the kernel at: c00307ec t fiq_flip_pins Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 736e6f63 pgd = c3dd0000 [736e6f63] *pgd=00000000 Internal error: Oops: 5 [#1] PREEMPT Modules linked in: hello_1 CPU: 0 Not tainted (2.6.31-207-g7286c01-svn4 #122) PC is at strnlen+0x10/0x28 LR is at string+0x38/0xcc pc : [<c016b004>] lr : [<c016c754>] psr: a00001d3 sp : c3817ea0 ip : 736e6f63 fp : 00000400 r10: c03cab5c r9 : c0339ae0 r8 : 736e6f63 r7 : c03caf5c r6 : c03cab6b r5 : ffffffff r4 : 00000000 r3 : 00000004 r2 : 00000000 r1 : ffffffff r0 : 736e6f63 Flags: NzCv IRQs off FIQs off Mode SVC_32 ISA ARM Segment user Control: 00c5387d Table: 83dd0008 DAC: 00000015 Process sh (pid: 1663, stack limit = 0xc3816268) Stack: (0xc3817ea0 to 0xc3818000) Since there are no API calls in my code I have to assume that something is going wrong in the C call and back. Any help solving this is appreciated.

  • Python bindings for C++ code using OpenCV giving segmentation fault

    - by lightalchemist
    I'm trying to write a python wrapper for some C++ code that make use of OpenCV but I'm having difficulties returning the result, which is a OpenCV C++ Mat object, to the python interpreter. I've looked at OpenCV's source and found the file cv2.cpp which has conversions functions to perform conversions to and fro between PyObject* and OpenCV's Mat. I made use of those conversions functions but got a segmentation fault when I tried to use them. I basically need some suggestions/sample code/online references on how to interface python and C++ code that make use of OpenCV, specifically with the ability to return OpenCV's C++ Mat to the python interpreter or perhaps suggestions on how/where to start investigating the cause of the segmentation fault. Currently I'm using Boost Python to wrap the code. Thanks in advance to any replies. The relevant code: // This is the function that is giving the segmentation fault. PyObject* ABC::doSomething(PyObject* image) { Mat m; pyopencv_to(image, m); // This line gives segmentation fault. // Some code to create cppObj from CPP library that uses OpenCV cv::Mat processedImage = cppObj->align(m); return pyopencv_from(processedImage); } The conversion functions taken from OpenCV's source follows. The conversion code gives segmentation fault at the commented line with "if (!PyArray_Check(o)) ...". static int pyopencv_to(const PyObject* o, Mat& m, const char* name = "<unknown>", bool allowND=true) { if(!o || o == Py_None) { if( !m.data ) m.allocator = &g_numpyAllocator; return true; } if( !PyArray_Check(o) ) // Segmentation fault inside PyArray_Check(o) { failmsg("%s is not a numpy array", name); return false; } int typenum = PyArray_TYPE(o); int type = typenum == NPY_UBYTE ? • Using spring:nestedPath tag

    Hello All, I have this code, I know I'm missing something but don't know what. It would be great if you help me out. I'm new to Spring MVC. I'm trying out a simple Login application in Spring MVC. • Tabular (X)HTML forms

    - by detly
    I have a set of items that can be in various states. I want to allow a user to use an (X)HTML form to change the state, and easily view the state of a group of objects ...so to this end, I'd like a layout like: | item1 | radio button for state 1 | radio for state 2 | ... | [update button] | | item2 | radio button for state 1 | radio for state 2 | ... | [update button] | etc. I prefer the radio buttons to list boxes so that it's easy for a user to visually scan for things in a certain state. It seemed like perfectly tabular data to me. The only problem is, you can't have forms inside a table that cross table cells (ie. <tr> <form> <td> ... is invalid). I thought, "hey, I could have one giant form wrapping a table, and make the [update button] value contain the IDs for each row!" Turns out certain versions of IE send ALL THE SUBMIT BUTTON VALUES on any single form. So I thought perhaps to to lay it out with <div>s and place the forms inside a single <td>. But then they break a line on each <div>. So I fixed their width and made them float: left. But then they wrap inside the table cells if the table row is wider than the page, and the radio controls don't line up with the headings. Is it possible to lay this out as I intend? The XHTML below shows the intended structure. Observe what happens if you resize the browser window below the width of the table (ideally, the name would break or the table would show a scroll bar). <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head><title>Test</title> <style type="text/css"> .state-select, .thing-state-name, .update { float: left; width: 8em; } .state-select { text-align: center; } </style> </head> <body> <table> <thead> <tr> <th class="thing-name-header">Thing</th> <th> <div class="thing-state-name">Present</div> <div class="thing-state-name">Absent</div> <div class="thing-state-name">Haven't looked</div> </th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>Apple</td> <td> <form action="something" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="id" value="1" /> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="present" checked="checked" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="absent" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="unknown" /></div> <div class="update"><input type="submit" value="Update" /></div> </form> </td></tr> <tr> <td>Orange</td> <td> <form action="something" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="id" value="2" /> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="present" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="absent" checked="checked" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="unknown" /></div> <div class="update"><input type="submit" value="Update" /></div> </form> </td></tr> <tr> <td>David Bowie</td> <td> <form action="something" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="id" value="3" /> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="present" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="absent" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="unknown" checked="checked" /></div> <div class="update"><input type="submit" value="Update" /></div> </form> </td></tr> </tbody> </table> </body> </html>
