• Handout export to word from PowerPoint are too big :(

  EDITED i am using power point lectures. i want to mail merge speaker data into the respective lecture. now thats not possible with ppt as far i know, so i have to convert these lectures to handout by using power point option "publishMS word handouts" and use word mail merger. this is good since it will keep the comments/notes added in slides in handouts aswell. but these exported handouts in word remain actual slides and retain link to original ppt rather than simply get exported as images. so the file size gets verrry big 10mb ppt = 212mb doc=88mb docx Is there any option to convert handouts exported from power point to word as images? i simply cant save them as pngs from powerpoint since that will not include the comments data. • emails getting sent with wrong "from" address

  I have a postfix/dovecot system setup on Ubuntu 10.04, and it sends/receives emails fine, but when I send emails they are all from [email protected]. For example, I have a user called "info" and when I try to send an email using mutt from this Mailbox "/home/vmail/mydomain.com/info/Maildir" the email will send find but it will be from "[email protected]" and not "[email protected]". I have 3 mailboxes (/home/vmail/mydomain.com/root/Maildir, /home/vmail/mydomain.com/root/postmaster, and /home/vmail/mydomain.com/root/info) and they all send and receive emails. • Resizing a System Partition Windows Server 2003 VM (Getting GParted Error)

  I am getting an error while trying to resize System Partition for Windows 2003 Server (this is a VM on a Hyper-v Windows Server 2008) using GParted Live CD ISO. Followed this tutorial: http://malaysiavm.com/blog/how-to-resize-windows-2003-server-virtual-disk-on-vmware-esx/ and GParted Doc http://gparted.sourceforge.net/larry/resize/resizing.htm (They are very similar) The VM has a Dynamic VHD file, I have already increased it using Hyper-v. GParted doesn't give any clues or details for the error. Just simply errors when trying to grow the partition. Any ideas what I can do? Thanks! Using version of Gparted: gparted-live-0.13.1-2

• HP DL160 G6 memory PC3-10600R vs PC3-10600E

  I am using a HP DL 160 G6 server that according to specs takes PC3 Registered or Unbuffered. When I combine the two types of memory below the system will not POST. When I use just the first type of memory listed the system will POST. I have two pieces of HP memory that came with the server labeled PC3-10600E-9-10-E0 and then I have some Crucial memory labeled PC3-10600R-9-10-B0 I wager that the R means Registered memory and the E means ECC - then shouldn't the crucial memory boot with the system according to the HP specs? Or does the E mean it is Unbuffered and therefore I shouldn't mix and match as according to this HP memory config doc?

  I have a Cisco UCS B-series system with 1.4 firmware running vsphere 4.1 (ESX) + Nexus 1000V. I want upgrade all that stuff to vsphere 5.0 without downtime. • Weird symbols on Mac

  Since I've had my mac, I keep seeing this weird symbol. Till today, it had been only in the place of bullet points in OpenOffice.org. The first pictures shows this in a .doc file created on a Windows system. I thought nothing of it - just an annoyance. It appears no matter what the font. Real bullets appear if I delete the text and insert a bulletted list using the toolbar. Then, today I noticed in in iTunes - which seemed strange. Image 3 is a zoom of the character. It says on it: Private Use E000 F8FF. What is it (unicode related?), and how do I get the bullets working properly? Edit: The plot thickens... If I boot in Safe Mode, the symbols look like little snap boards like you'd have at the beginning of filming a scene in a film...

• Corosync - stopping the service crashes the server

  I am trying to set up a test cluster on a Xen Server with 2 paravirtualized CentOS 5.4 machines. I am using Pacemaker+Corosync, and following the instructions found at http://www.clusterlabs.org/doc/Cluster_from_Scratch.pdf and other sites. Anyway, when I try to manually stop the corosync service, about 80% of the times the whole VM locks up with the message "Waiting for corosync services to unload" and I am forced to shut the machine down manually. For the remaining 20%, the VM keeps responding and adds dots to the above message, but it won't actually stop the service. There aren't many resources on the internet about this particular error. Any ideas about this? Thanks in advance.

• print job doesn't go to print queue

  I have two printers hooked up to my intel imac. I am having a printing error. It seems that whenever i try to print (a simple text doc) I am unable to get the print job to go to print queue with one of my printers. I have a HP c7280 and a HP c3100. I am able to get one working properly, but the other doesn't seem to allow it to go to the print queue. I have switched usb cables (with the printer that I know works) and both printers are recognized by the computer in the printer preferences pane. I've tried reseting the printer system in the printer setup utility.. reloaded the drivers from HP.. etc. If anyone has a suggestion or could point me to a little help i'd be VERY grateful Best Regards.. • Filtering attachment types in Google Apps (free Google Business)

  We have Google apps in our company for mail delivery, our business can't pay the business version yet, however, we need to control the attachment types that employees download. We recently switched from another hosting provider who recomended us to plug Google Apps for mail when we moved the domain, we had a firewall before which was able to prevent certain file types to be downloaded. I know the business version has section for filtering mail (postini services). Is there a hack around my problem? Anyone ever had this problem? Thank you! UPDATE: The main problem is gmail apps uses ssl connection, can this be changed ? how can i get the firewall to filter files only allowing *.doc, *.xls y *.pdf.

• Force ntpd to make changes in smaller steps

  The NTP documentation says: Under ordinariy conditions, ntpd adjusts the clock in small steps so that the timescale is effectively continuous and without discontinuities - http://doc.ntp.org/4.1.0/ntpd.htm However, this is not at all what I have noticed in practice. If I manually change the system time backwards or forwards 5 or 10 seconds then start ntpd, I notice that it adjusts the clock in one shot. Now the issues is that for one folder it works perfect, but for 80 to 90 folders it is taking too much time. I think it's because of findstr and the different extensions used. Is there any way to make it faster?

  I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm struggling to get a table of contents going in a Word doc that's already been created. I know enough to understand that the TOC is based on the type of the header/style and indentation. My approach so far has been to auto-generate the TOC and then try (unsuccessfully) to fix the problems; perhaps this isn't the best approach in this situation. What's happening is that the TOC is missing half my sections and for others it's adding way too much detail. Again my sense is I have to "fix" individual section headings but I haven't been successful so far.

• PhpMyAdmin Hangs On MySQL Error

  I'm currently running PhpMyAdmin 4.0.10 (the latest version supporting PHP 4.2.X) on my Amazon EC2 connecting to a MySQL database on RDS. Everything works perfectly fine except actions that return a mysql error message. Whether I perform "any" kind of action that will return a mysql error, Phpmyadmin will hang with the yellow "Loading" box forever without displaying anything. For example, if I perform the following command in MySQL CLI : select * from 123; It instantly returns the following error : ERROR 1064 (42000): You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '123' at line 1 which is completely normal because table 123 doesn't exist. However, if I execute the exact same command in the "SQL" box in Phpmyadmin, after I click "Go" it'll display "Loading" and stops there forever. Has anyone ever encountered this kind of issue with Phpmyadmin? Is this a bug or I have something wrong with my config.inc.php? Any help would be much appreciated. • Distributing a Python Software for Linux [closed]

  Hi, I am writing my first software in Python for Ubuntu (or Debian based Linux). I am looking for a good advise on the best way to distribute my software. The easist alternative that I can think of at the moment is to archive the python code into *.tar.gz, and let user execute the main python script as an executable to run the software. I realize that this may not be the best approach. I looked at the Debian maintainer guide: "http://www.debian.org/doc/maint-guide/ch-dother.en.html", not too sound lazy, but the guide looks very intimidating for a beginner. Are there any other tutorial that show how to create a debian package for a beginner ? If anyone has a suggestion do let me know. Thanks ^_^

• MS Word showing unwanted table borders on screen (but not on print preview)

  I have a MS Word document with a number of tables. The other day when I created it, the tables all had no borders. Today, I opened it up to find that the tables did have borders. However, when I check the border properties on each table, it says that there are no borders. The tables are displayed with cell borders in all view modes except for the reading layout, and they do not show up on print preview. As this document is going to generally be for on-screen viewing, I need to get rid of the borders. How can I accomplish this? (this is a MS Word 2003 *.doc document, in MS Word 2003, which has been the only editor involved.)

  We write test case documents. In these documents, each test case is numbered. E.g. Foobar-UI-1 to Foobar-UI-23 or Foobar-Device-1 to Foobar-Device-87 I'd like to autonumber these. I don't think I want just a new numbered list format, I want something like the list of figures - where figures (or test case) can be defined anywhere in the doc with other headings and paragraphs between them, and I can insert a "List of figures" table at the beginning. So how do I do "test cases" and a "list of test-cases" table in the same way as figures work out of the box?

  I am trying to install the python pandas package in a virtualenv using pip. • Changing Word mail merge data source locations in bulk?

  I've just moved a number of Word mail merge files, and a number of Excel spreadsheets that are the data sources for the mail merges, from a Windows XP computer to a Windows 7 computer, and now all the paths for the merge sources are incorrect (used to be c:\documents and settings\user\my documents.... now c:\users\documents....). While I can correct the path of the data source in each file individually, I was hoping that there would be some way of updating the files in bulk, as there are a relatively large number of them. Word 2007 is what is being used, but the documents are all in the previous DOC format (not DOCX).

  Hi all, I have tried many programs and solutions to save web pages (html, mht, doc, pdf). My favorite software was an addon for browsers from Omnipage (OCR). What I like about this is that it prints the whole page (continuously) and it doesn't write the URL or page numbers on the page, which I find annoying. Does anyone know a software like this one (freeware or not)? I tried CutePDF and it didn't work for me. I want this for my offline use and would prefer a PDF.

• Can expire_logs_days be less than 1 day in MySQL?

  So... yesterday I received an "after the fact email" about a campaign that has started for one of the services that I run. Now the DB server is getting hammered, hard, to the tune of about 300mb/min in binary logging for the replicate. As you could imagine, this is chewing up space at a fairly tremendous rate. My normal 7 day expiry of binary logs just isn't cutting it. I've resorted to truncating logs to just the last for 4 hours with(I'm verifying that replication is up to date with mk-heartbeat): PURGE MASTER LOGS BEFORE DATE_SUB( NOW(), INTERVAL 4 HOUR); I'm just running that from cron every few hours to weather the storm, but it made me question the minimum value for expire_logs_days. I haven't come across a value that is less than 1, but that doesn't mean that it isn't possible. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/server-system-variables.html#sysvar_expire_logs_days gives the type as being numeric, but doesn't indicate if it's expecting integers.

It may also install scripts specific to CentOS only. These paths may not be the same as the defaults found within the source distributions found on the PostgreSQL, MySQL, Python etc project websites and the scripts are usually unique to CentOS. Recently when I installed PostgreSQL under Ubuntu I found some very nice distribution specific information about how the install was organized and how to use the package in a Ubuntu way. I found this information in /usr/share/doc/ Is there any such information included within CentOS?

  i am opening a word document from a url like https://myurl.com/mydoc.doc. The Webdavserver uses Basic Authentication. At the beginning the Office 2003 is asking for the Username and Password. After i have typed them in I click the checkbox "Save Usercredentials" and the word is opened. When i open the document the next time the login prompt is appearing again (username and passwort are already set in the textfields and I only have to click "Ok"). Is it possible to avoid this one click and make office not show this prompt at all after the first login? Greetings Klaus

• Start TLS and 389 Directory

  I'm trying to configure Start TLS on 389 Directory server, but I'm having all sorts of issues. I've been following this doc: https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Directory_Server/9.0/html/Administration_Guide/managing-certs.html which specifies that I should create a certificate for both the directory server and admin server. I've imported the CA cert on both servers. I've tried to use the same server certificate for both. It will not allow me to do so. However, the admin and directory servers reside on the same host. If I generate a new certificate it will need to use the same hostname. I'm not sure if that's valid... Has anyone out there set this up before? Any direction would be helpful. I have multmaster replication set up. From an external client, I'm attempting to do an ldapsearch -ZZ -x -h "myhost" -b "dc=example,dc=com" -D "cn=Directory Manager" -W "", and I'm getting a protocol error.
