• how to set global PATH on OS X?

  I'd like to append to the global PATH variable on OS X so that all user shells and GUI applications get the same PATH environment. I know I can append to the path in shell startup scripts, but those settings are not inherited by GUI applications. The only way I found so far is to redefine the PATH environment variable in /etc/launchd.conf: setenv PATH /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/my/path I coulnd't figure out a way to actually append to PATH in launchd.conf. I'm a bit worried about this method, but so far this is the only thing that works. Does anyone know of a better way?

  Jersey 2.0 milestone 2 is now available. It builds upon the first milestone and adds several new features such as server-side asynchronous processing, server-side content negotiation, improved JAX-RS parameter injection, and several others. The REST endpoints can be published on Java SE HTTP Server, Grizzly 2 HTTP container, and some basic Servlet-based deployments. It also provides HTTPURLConnection-based client API implementation. Read about these and more about what's new in Marek's detailed post. Of course this is also the future reference implementation for JAX-RS 2.0. Feel like trying it out?   Since it's introduction in Java EE 6, CDI has become a key API for the platform. CDI 1.1 was a relatively minor release included in Java EE 7 as was CDI 1.2 (to be included in GlassFish 4.0.1). We have much higher expectations from CDI 2 (projected to be included in Java EE 8) under the new leadership of Antoine Sabot-Durand. Much like we conducted the Java EE 8 survey to solidify future direction for the platform, CDI 2 is now undergoing the same effort. Towards this goal the CDI 2 leadership is now soliciting feedback on some very specific items via an open survey. Topics include the likes of Java SE bootstrap, asynchronous processing, modularity, EJB-style @Startup and @Asynchronous in CDI, configuration and CDI Lite. • OpenGL : sluggish performance in extracting texture from GPU

  I'm currently working on an algorithm which creates a texture within a render buffer. The operations are pretty complex, but for the GPU this is a simple task, done very quickly. The problem is that, after creating the texture, i would like to save it. This requires to extract it from GPU memory. For this operation, i'm using glGetTexImage(). It works, but the performance is sluggish. No, i mean even slower than that. For example, an 8MB texture (uncompressed) requires 3 seconds (yes, seconds) to be extracted. That's mind puzzling. I'm almost wondering if my graphic card is connected by a serial link... Well, anyway, i've looked around, and found some people complaining about the same, but no working solution so far. The most promising advise was to "extract data in the native format of the GPU". Which i've tried and tried, but failed so far. Edit : by moving the call to glGetTexImage() in a different place, the speed has been a bit improved for the most dramatic samples : looking again at the 8MB texture, it knows requires 500ms, instead of 3sec. It's better, but still much too slow. Smaller texture sizes were not affected by the change (typical timing remained into the 60-80ms range). Using glFinish() didn't help either. Note that, if i call glFinish() (without glGetTexImage), i'm getting a fixed 16ms result, whatever the texture size or complexity. It really looks like the timing for a frame at 60fps. The timing is measured for the full rendering + saving sequence. The call to glGetTexImage() alone does not really matter. That being said, it is this call which changes the performance. And yes, of course, as stated at the beginning, the texture is "created into the GPU", hence the need to save it.

  Tl;dr - how do I find the name of the command (eg $BASH_COMMAND) running on the remote end of an ssh connection? ... My example setup is two tmux vertical panes, LH pane runs a local vim session with vertical split, RH pane runs an ssh session running vim, again with a vertical split. Using tmux-navigator I can navigate from left to right over the first 3 vim buffers, but the 4th (far right hand one) is inaccessible. The reason for this is that tmux-navigator tests the value of 'pane_current_command' and compares it to 'vim' before deciding which keystrokes to dispatch. On the right hand tmux pane, the current command is 'ssh' and not 'vim'. What I want to do is test for (pane_current_command =~ 'ssh'), and if so, examine the command that is running on the far side of the connection? I cannot find a way to get hold of this, so any suggestions would be welcome?   Java Day Taipei 2014 was held at the Taipei International Convention Center on August 1st. Organized by Oracle University, it is one of the largest Java developer events in Taiwan. This was another successful year for Java Day Taipei with a fully sold out venue. In addition to Oracle speakers like me, Steve Chin and Naveen Asrani, the event also featured a bevy of local speakers including Taipei Java community leaders. Topics included Java SE, Java EE, JavaFX and Big Data. I delivered a keynote on Java EE 7/Java EE 8 as well as a talks on aligning the JavaScript ecosystem with Java EE 7 and using NoSQL solutions in Java EE applications.   So I pretty-much have my new machine up and running full-time. I am still going to have to hit my old workstation for some things but am more-or-less working on my new machine.  It’s really fast. And Bret was right, I’m not so far using all the RAM. 16 would have been enough but as @CodeMonkeyJava “go big or go home”. Windows 8 is…interesting.  So far I still seem to do most of my work in the “Desktop”.  However, I like the Store concept and I like the Metro UX.  Live tiles are also nice.  I really like how I can switch between Desktop and Metro easily.  Overall I think Microsoft has done a great job of combining the needed experience for touch and mouse. My overall Windows 8 rating is 5.9 because of the video card. Otherwise I’m hitting 7.8.  The system boots from cold in about 11 seconds and performs complete shutdown in 4.7 seconds.  It wakes from sleep in less than 1 second. VS 2012 starts and restarts almost instantly.  In fact, I find myself staring at the start page without realizing it.  Build time doesn’t seem to be significantly increased but it is faster. I seem to already be reinvigorated for work with this new machine. I’m looking forward to the performance.

  I was reading this post: http://forums.netbeans.org/post-8864.html and what I have done so far is to make a jFrame in NetBeans, on it I have drawn a jPanel and inisde the panel I have drawn a jLabel on it and use the icon property to put an image on it; until now all is so far so good. I would like to make a program that everytime I click on the figure it rotates it to the right.   I've got a site where people can list machinery for sale. Each item for sale has it's own dynamic page. On each of these pages we allow the person selling the item to have a link back to their own website. Some people only sell a handful of items and some people are selling dozens or hundreds of items. So in some cases we can have a 100 links back to their external site. Our SEO guy is saying this is bad (i'll open another question on that). So i was wondering if i take the links and spit them out using document.write, will that hide them from google and the other SE's ?
