  • Taking over and Moving a PHP site

    I have a internal use PHP site at my new position. It only runs a few days a year off site so we keep it on laptops. The hardware it has been on, a 8 year IBM Thinkpad running Fedora, is dying. I have new Lenovo Thinkpad's running latest and greatest Ubuntu. I have copied the contents of var to a shared drive, renamed the old www folder in var on the new machine and copied over the old www folder. I can get to the login page and into the site, but when I look something up it returns Cannot Open. I know I cannot get to the MySQL in the new machine because users and passwords dont match. The version of the PHP from the old machine is before the setup script was included. I know very little about PHP. I am looking for input on the proper way to link the old PHP files to my mysql instance. Any help, much appreciated.

    I have been using Windows for a while, and with it there is a feature when you want to upload a photo (for example) to a website, you click on the "Choose File" in Chrome to upload a photo, a "File Explorer" opens, and instead of selecting a file from the hard drive you can paste a URL into the "File Explorer" and press open and it will download the file from the web to your temporary files, and use it to be uploaded.   • Remote file copy util (like rsync) but that will take account of data already copied (in this sessio

    Let's say I have a directory with 2 files, both are identical and quite large (e.g. 2GB ea.) I want to rsync that directory to a remote host. As I understand it (and I could be wrong), rsync calculates checksums of files. Surely if it sees 2 files with the same checksum it can just copy the first file, then do a local copy on the remote host for the 2nd file? That would make it faster, no? On a similar note, doesn't rsync hash all the remote files before copying? If it saw a different file with the same hash as a file that was to transfered, it could do a local copy on the remote host. Does rsync support this sort of thing? Is there some way to turn it on? Is there a tool similar to rsync that will do this sort of 'hash based' local copies?

  • Outlook 2007 panes keep moving when changing resolution

    This problem is really bugging one of our users ever since he got a larger monitor. Now that the monitor has a different resolution than his laptop, every time he unplugs it to go home, the three Outlook panes get all jumbled up. The navigation is huge, the list is shoved over, and the reading pane is almost smushed out of existence, the the opposite when he comes back in and the reading pane fills the screen. He's sick of adjusting it every day. He always runs it maximized, for maximum reading area. Keeping the application within a 1024x768 window wouldn't really be an option for him. Is there any way built into Outlook to automatically adjust pane sizes when the resolution changes? If not, is there a third-party app that can help, or a way to script the changes into the registry somehow? (I can do running the script whenever the screen state changes.) If this is fixed in 2010 I might be able to convince the other admin that this is a good enough reason to allow it (which will require a new beta version of our archiving software).

  • Best Practices in Preventing Locks in File sharing in Windows?

    We have a web development server, that has our source control on it. That we use via mapped drives to open/edit/save/create files on to it. But I have noticed a lot of weird glitches with either the file lock/sharing/etc For example, if i have a file open on my local pc, and try to check out that file via my source control on dev, it error's out. The source control I use is QCVS by Qumasoft. Or If I use cuteftp to download something to dev, via my local pc, it won't download unless I close that file. So my brain sniff's and figures this is either an issue with folder/network/sharing, or an issue of permissions. Has anyone else had similar issues, and what did they do to fix it permanently?     I've got to move email from one shared-hosting server to another. The reason to move is my current provider doesn't support IMAP, so access to emails is only through POP. I have 5 accounts to move, with 3 of them being 500MB. Is there a way to do it? (other than downloading it all to a client and updating server settings to new server and therefore uploading the files to new server) Any suggestions?

  • High CPU usage - symptoms moving from server to server after bouncing

    First off, I apologize if I didn't include enough information to properly troubleshoot this issue. This sort of thing isn't my specialty, so it is a learning process. If there's something I need to provide, please let me know and I'll be happy to do what I can. The images associated with my question are at the bottom of this post. We are dealing with a clustered environment of four WebLogic 9.2 Java application servers. The cluster utilizes a round-robin load algorithm. Other details include: Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_12-b04) BEA JRockit(R) (build R27.4.0-90_CR352234-91983-1.5.0_12-20071115-1605-linux-x86_64, compiled mode) Basically, I started looking at the servers' performance because our customers are seeing lots of lag at various times of the day. Our servers should easily handle the loads they are given, so it's not clear what's going on. Using HP Performance Manager, I generated some graphs that indicate that the CPU usage is completely out of whack. It seems that, at any given point, one or more of the servers has a CPU utilization of over 50%. I know this isn't particularly high, but I would say it is a red flag based on the CPU utilization of the other servers in the WebLogic cluster. Interesting things to note: The high CPU utilization was occurring only on server02 for several weeks. The server crashed (extremely rare; we are not sure if it's related to this) and upon starting it back up, the CPU utilization was normal on all 4 servers. We restarted all 4 managed servers and the application server (on server01) yesterday, on 2/28. As you can see, server03 and server04 picked up the behavior that was seen on server02 before. The CPU utilization is a Java process owned by the application user (appown). The number of transactions is consistent across all servers. It doesn't seem like any one server is actually handling more than another. If anyone has any ideas or can at least point me in the right direction, that would be great.   • Moving web files to /home/user/ gives permission denied using apache

    I recently created some linux users on my machine and their respective directories were created in the following manner /home/my_user so I decided to treat each user as one of my websites. I moved all my website files over to this directory like so /home/my_user/public_html/. I edited the virtual host in my httpd.conf and changed the root directory folder so this is how that looks <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot "/home/my_user/public_html" ServerName mywebsite.com ServerAlias www.mywebsite.com ErrorLog "/var/log/httpd/mywebsite/error_log" CustomLog "/var/log/httpd/mywebsite/access_log" common </VirtualHost> Now this virtual host configuration was working perfectly fine with my older document root path that was located at /var/www/html/mywebsite/public_html but after changing that to what it is right now, I am getting a permission denied error. But I followed the instructions here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14427808/you-dont-have-permission-error-in-apache-in-centos Even after following the above instructions, when I run the following command: sudo -u apache ls /home/my_user/public_html The server responds with ls: cannot open directory /home/my_user/public_html: Permission denied Even so, I do not get a permissions denied error when I try to access my site any more, however, now I am redirected to the default page of apache instead of my website. I am not exactly sure what's wrong any more, if anyone has an idea, it would be great if you guys could help out!

  • Is there a way to save and restore a set of tabs in a linux file manager?

    For a frequent task, I need a file manager window open with about 8 tabs, each a different location. I'd like to be able to open the tabs once and then save them as a "tab set", so that in future sessions, I can simply open a file manager and restore the saved tab set, without having to open each tab manually. I'm running Mint 16 with Thunar, but could use a different file manager if needed. Is there a way to do this?

  • Moving tool bars in Acrobat X Pro

    I'm using Acrobat X pro for Windows. I found that two lines of tool bar takes too much space. So I would like to combine them into one line, or move them to left or right side. I do know that I can hide those tool bars by Ctrl+H. But I want to use them without hiding. Since most documents I use are letter size and portrait type, tool bars on the left or right side would be much more efficient way of using space. Does anybody know how I can do this? (I think I could do it in Acrobat 9..but I can't in X version)

    I have heard several terms for a C++ "Codepoint" (which is what I've heard used the most often), or a .cpp file that is compiled into an object file. For instance, .cpp files can include other .cpp files (or any other file, really, so long as it compiles), but during compilation, there is really only one 'main' code file that is used/generated. I know there is a widely accepted term, I just can't recall what it is. What is the accepted term for the final .c/.cpp file used to generate an object file?

  • Symantec Backup exec 2012 for SBS - moving data to offsite drives

    Can anyone advise how best to run the following strategy, or even if it is possible/sensible strategy? I am looking to backup an SBS server using BE2012 where the data is backed up on a weekly full backup, with subsequent daily incrementals till the end of the week, a fresh full backup will then be taken the next weekend, and the cycle repeats for 4 weeks, thus 4 full backups with incrementals. This months worth of backups will then be moved off to an offsite store via USB drive for safe keeping. Is this viable, sensible, or am i just a bit crazy? All ideas are welcome.

  • Moving Windows 7 ProgramData folder after installation

    I need to move my C:\ProgramData folder in a Windows 7 installation to D:\ProgramData. I understand how to make the symlinks and registry changes so this works. My problem is that I'm unable to copy the files in the ProgramData folder because the OS seems to have some of them locked. Specifically, the files in the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys folder are blocking the move. Am I out of luck here? Is there any way to move the folder, create the symlink, and update the registry without any of the files in these folders being locked?

  • Error moving a certificate to remote server

    Hi- I am trying to obtain a certificate and move it to a remote server. It is a report server which requires its own certificate for SSL but is not running IIS. I have a server running IIS 6 so i created a fake website to create a csr, obtained a certificate from a 3rd party, then processed and installed the cert on the fake website. I want to then move the certificate to a remote server. when it asks for the server name and credentials i supply them, hit next, then get the error, 'class not registered'. any ideas? Thanks -Ed

    I am trying to move a site collection from one content database to another content database. First I used the following PowerShell command: New-SPContentDatabase -Name New_DB -WebApplication http://portal/ I confirmed that this did in fact create the DB in the SQL Server. I then used the following command: Move-SPSite http://portal/sites/hr -DestinationDatabase New_DB This generates an error stating that the "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object" Can anyone help point me in the right direction with this?   • Moving email to folders in Outlook 2007

    When i right click an email in Outlook 2007, it always defaults or opens to be saved in one particular folder. It's always the same folder. Actually a subfolder in a folder. It never used to do this. It would always default to the last folder that I had saved in before . Does anyone know how to stop this from happening? It is getting really time consuming and irritating. Would a windows update affect this?

  • Maximizing after moving RDC window between different size monitors

    My Win7 system has two monitors of different sizes. When I open a Remote Desktop Connection on one monitor set to use full screen, both the RDC window and the remote system's desktop fills the monitor. If I then move the window onto my second monitor (1-Restore Down button to make it movable; 2-Drag window to other monitor; 3-Maximize button to fill monitor) the RDC window fills the monitor, but the remote system's desktop remains the same size it was before. Thus, if I move from the larger to the smaller monitor I have scrollbars to see the whole remote desktop, while if I move from the smaller to the larger monitor the remote desktop occupies only a portion of the monitor. My workaround is to close the RDC window completely then re-establish it on the other monitor. Is there a way to avoid this overhead and just resize the remote desktop to fit?

  • How do I save files with libgdx so that users can't read them?

    Writing my game in libgdx, I arrived at the point when I need to save the player stats and the info of the levels. However, in libgdx it's not allowed to write the file inside folder of the application, only external (on the SD) is allowed. The point is that I don't want the file to be seen by anyone, or if they can see it, how can I convert it to a binary file so it's not human readable? I just want to hide the file.
