• Laptop won't get to grub after meddling with kernels

  I recently found out I had different kernel versions installed, so I removed the 3.9 kernel as proposed in this answer on my earlier question. After that, I updated my grub, but My laptop won't seem to reach it. The new site have to follow the structure of the old site that requires the presence of a vertical main menu in the left column that contains the link to all the statics pages in the site. • Why do I get this error trying to compile libxml2?

  Although, I installed libxml2 once and reinstalled it for a few times. I cannot compile c-source code because compiler cannot find where the header file is. I am able to locate where it is (in the folder where I downloaded the tar.gz package) but I had a feeling in my guts that this package isn't installed correctly because when I tried to sudo make install, it says /bin/bash: /home/bfaskiplar/Downloads/tar.gz: No such file or directory make[2]: *** [install-libLTLIBRARIES] Error 127 make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/bfaskiplar/Downloads/tar.gz packages/libxml2-2.8.0' make[1]: *** [install-am] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/bfaskiplar/Downloads/tar.gz packages/libxml2-2.8.0' make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1 that's why I installed synaptic package manager and reinstalled it, but in this case, isn't it supposed to put header files in default directory where gcc normally searches in currently, I am able to compile it with -I option, but I wonder why do I have to copy headers manually even if I used synaptic for installation and why I am getting Error 1 and Error 2 when trying to install the package manually. thanks in advance

• WPF DataGrid does not scoll on drag

  I have a strange problem with a WPF DataGrid from WPF Toolkit. The scrollbars appear correctly when the number of rows grows, and the scrolling works when you press up or down arrows on the scrollbar. The problem comes in when I try to drag the scrollbar on the datagrid. My page has a scroll viewer around it. When I click and drag the scrollbar on the grid, it scrolls the page scroller instead. If the scrollbar does not apear on the page, there grid still does not scroll. Is there a workaround for this??? Would really appreciate some help with this issue! For example, in this case if the page is < 280, it scrolls on drag. • UI android question/problem with Listview

  Hi, I'm trying to recreate the UI screen called 'My Places' that is used in the Weather Channel app. I'd attach a screenshot of the screen, but I can't seem to do it here. It seems they're using two listviews one on top of the other, but I'm not sure for certain. Could anybody confirm this for me? If they are doing this, how is this done? I've tried to implement this, but without full success. My top listview 'Add a place' 'comes up correctly, but the bottom listview will not appear/populate for me? I shall attach my code so far...... • LinkButtons Created Dynamically in a Repeater Don't Fire ItemCommand Event

  Hi. I've got a repeater that's used to display the output of a dynamic report that takes criteria from webcontrols on the page. Within the repeater's ItemDataBound method I'm adding controls (Linkbuttons for sorting by column values) dynamically to the header of the repeater based on values selected in a checkbox list and at this point setting the CommandArgument and CommandName properties of the linkbuttons. The issue is that when the linkbuttons are clicked they don't fire the ItemCommand event although they are clearly being correctly created and added to the header (there is some additional code to set the cssClass, text etc. and this works as expected.) The first column header in the repeater is set in the markup and the itemcommand event fires correctly on this one only. When the other column headers are clicked the repeater rebinds as programmed, but the columns are not dynamically re-generated. This code runs correctly on Glassfish v 2.1 But when the server was updated to Glassfish v 2.1.1, the attribute stopped to be passed correctly. Instead of passing edited item (when we change the values in table row, we are actually changing the underlying object fields), the source item is submitted to server, i.e. the item that was previously given to the page. All the changes that were made on the page are discarded. I tried to update jsf version from 1.2_02 to 1.2_14 (we are using jsf RI), but it had no effect. Perhaps anyone came across the same problem? Any help and suggestions will be appreciated.

• C++: Declaration of template class member specialization

  When I specialize a (static) member function/constant in a template class, I'm confused as to where the declaration is meant to go. The generic implementation is obviously in the header, but what about the specialization? It can't go in the header file, because it's concrete, leading to multiple definition. But if it goes into the .cpp file, is code which calls X::f() aware of the specialization, or might it rely on the generic X::f()? So far I've got the specialization in the .cpp only, with no declaration in the header. I'm not having trouble compiling or even running my code (on gcc, don't remember the version at the moment), and it behaves as expected - recognizing the specialization. But A) I'm not sure this is correct, and I'd like to know what is, and B) my Doxygen documentation comes out wonky and very misleading (more on that in a moment a later question).   I am trying to write a simple mail sender class that would receive a bunch of arguments and using those will send an email out using our Exchange 2010 server. While authentication etc. seem to work fine, I am getting the following exception when the code is actually trying to send the email (I think).   The Situation I am creating a video training site for a client on the RackSpace Cloud using the traditional LAMP stack (RackSpace's cloud has both Windows and LAMP stacks). The videos and other media files I'm serving on this site need to be protected as my client charges money for access to them. There is no DRM or funny business like that, essentially we store the files outside of the web root and use PHP to authenticate user's before they are able to access the files by using mod_rewrite to run the request through PHP. On local test machines it works like a charm. However once deployed to the cloud it stops working. After some debugging it turns out that if a request to the cloud has certain file extensions like .JPG, .PNG, or .SWF (i.e. extensions of typically static media files.) the request is routed to a cache system called Varnish. The end result of this routing is that by the time this whole process makes it to my PHP script the session is not present. If I change the extension in the URL to .PHP or if I even add a query parameter Varnish is bypassed and the PHP script can get the session. No problem right? I'll just add a meaningless query parameter to my requests! Here is the rub: The media files I am serving through this system are being requested through compiled SWF files that I have zero control over. They are generated by third-party software and I have no hope of adding or changing the URLs that they request. Are there any other options I have on this? Update: I should note that I have verified this behavior with RackSpace support and they have said there is nothing they can do about it.

  I binwalked a firmware of a ZTE ZXV10 H108L, and got some encouraging results of uImage uboot, and LZMA compression, as well as a Squashfs 3.0 LZMA compressed filesystem. 256 0x100 uImage header, header size: 64 bytes, header CRC: 0xE70BCBB9, created: Thu Nov 10 04:54:54 2011, image size: 804172 bytes, Data Address: 0x80002000, Entry Point: 0x80266000, data CRC: 0x6EFE90F1, OS: Linux, CPU: MIPS, image type: OS Kernel Image, compression type: lzma, image name: MIPS Linux-2.6.20 320 0x140 LZMA compressed data, properties: 0x5D, dictionary size: 8388608 bytes, uncompressed size: 2637958 bytes 851968 0xD0000 Squashfs filesystem, big endian, lzma signature, version 3.0, size: 2543403 bytes, 632 inodes, blocksize: 65536 bytes, created: Thu Nov 10 04:56:12 2011 Now what I did is, to test several portions of the file (320byte-end, 851968byte-end, and many more) using dd, and trying with certain tools to uncompress/unpack the filesystem of the firmware. After some digging I found out the best tool to do this is the firmware_mod_kit, that understands a squashfs-lzma v3 filesystem. Although I ended up really frustrated as unsquashfs-lzma v3 reported a cold "zlib::uncompress failed, unknown error -3". Do you have any ideas? Could it be that, the firmware is corrupted on purpose to discourage attempts like this? Router file Thanks

• Is there a setting in Exchange Server 2007 that we can set to make these headers propogate and be received by a POP/IMAP client?

  When using EWS Managed API to send Email via Exchange Server 2007. I noticed that MAPI clients like MS Outlook display all custom headers. But when I use POP3/IMAP clients like MS Outlook Express. I have noticed that these custom headers do not display in the message opened from MS Outlook Express. Is there a setting in Exchange Server 2007 that we can set to make these custom headers propagate and be received by a POP/IMAP client? Also why do custom headers in example below display up in lower case in MAPI clients like MS Outlook? But surprisingly if we use SMTPClient class to send email then these headers display as sent with Case Sensitive letters. eg. Header.   I am hosting several (~30) different sites on one server with apache2+fastcgi+suexec+php5. Sites have different loads and different execution times of their scripts (some of them process request for 5-7 seconds, some <1sek). Sometimes when single site receives very high load (all php instances of this site are created and used) - whole apache server hangs. Apache (worker mpm) creates new processes up to the upper limit. It looks like it is starting to queue ALL new request for EVERY site, not only the one that has high load and quickly achieves process limits... restart of apache solves the problem... config: FastCgiConfig -singleThreshold 1 -multiThreshold 10 -listen-queue-depth 30 -maxProcesses 80 -maxClassProcesses 12 -idle-timeout 30 -pass-header HTTP_AUTHORIZATION -pass-header If-Modified-Since -pass-header If-None-Match (earlier have default -listen-queue-depth = 100, but it didn't change anything...) Any suggestions? Another question - how is implemented this listen queue? is it one queue for whole apache, or unique queue for every defined php apllication (suexec site)? I would like to achieve something like this: when one site receives high load and its queue is full - server bounces next request, but only for this one site.. Other sites should work properly...

• Failing to send email on Ubuntu box (Karmic Koala)

  I have a home network with an XP and Ubuntu (9.10) box. I have created a small test php script for checking that I can send emails from my machine. I am using the same php.ini file with the same [mail settings], yet the file works on my XP box, and fails on the Ubuntu box. • Postfix selective header_checks: smtpd_relay_restrictions vs. smtpd_recipient_restrictions

  Some of my customers implemented commercial software that violate email-RFCs such that we have had to relax our header checks. In consequence, we receive more spam. Prolog: I know the domains (customer.com) and IP-addresses (a.b.c.d/C) these emails come from Kind request for help: Is it possible to setup one Postfix (2.11) instance on Linux such that: It applies only some header checks for emails from .*@customer.com But applies all header checks for all other email sources? I thought of a combination of mynetworks that includes the subnet a.b.c.d/C in smtpd_recipient_restrictions -- allowing all these messages through -- and simultaneously avoid an open-relay with smtpd_relay_restrictions. However, this has not worked out as expected. Any idea or help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. • How to send Content-Disposition headers in apache for files?

  I have a directory of text files that I'm serving out with apache 2. Normally when I (or any user) access the files they see them in their browser. I want to 'force'* the web browser to pop up a 'Save as' dialog box. I know this is possible to do with the Content-Disposition headers (more info). Is there some way to turn that on for each file? Ideally I'd like something like this: <Directory textfiles> AutoAddContentDispositionHeaders On </Directory> And then apache would set the correct content disposition header, including using the same filename. Something like this might be possible with the apache Header directive. Bonus points if it's included by standing in apache in debian. I could do a simple PHP wrapper script that takes in a filename argument, makes the call to header(...) and then prints the file, but then i have to validdate input etc. that's work I'm trying to avoid. * I know you can't actually force things when it comes to the web

• Add and remove letterhead in Word document

  Our company has letterheaded paper (pre-printed paper with our logo on it). Whenever we send something out by mail, we print it on that paper. However, when we send the same document via email, we convert it to a PDF file. Now the problem is: when converting a Word document to PDF, it should contain the letterhead. When printing the same document on paper, it should not (or else the letterhead would be printed twice). Currently, we are using two different Word document templates - one with letterhead, one without. So whenever we want to add or remove the letterhead, we have to create a new document with the other template and copy and paste everything over. Nasty solution. What I'm looking for is some simple way to switch the letterhead on and off. What I've tried so far: Switching the template: There does not seem to be a simple way to switch the template for an existing document. Using a picture watermark: Our letterhead goes all the way to the border of the page. (No printer supports this, of course, but it is fine for export to PDF.) Apparently depending on the current default printer, Word will not allow a borderless watermark, instead shifting the image around. Using the page header: When editing the page header, I can insert pictures at arbitrary positions, which is great. However, I could not find a way (short of macros) to enable/disable just the pictures in the header. (The text should remain there.)

• Can I use IIS to do ActiveDirectory single-sign-on for another website?

  I'm trying to add Active Directory single-sign-on support to an existing SOAP server. The server can be configured to accept a trusted reverse-proxy and use the X-Remote-User HTTP header for the authenticated user. I want to configure IIS to be the trusted proxy for this service, so that it handles all of the Active Directory authentication for the SOAP server. Basically IIS would have to accept HTTP connections on port X and URL Y, do all the authentication, and then proxy the connection to a different server (most likely the same X and Y). Unfortunately, I have no knowledge of IIS or AD (so I am trying my best to learn enough to build this solution) so please be gentle. I would assume that this is not an uncommon scenario, so is there some easy way to do this? Is this sort of functionality built into IIS or do I need to build some sort of IIS proxy program myself? Is there a better option for getting the authentication done and the X-Remote-User HTTP header set than requiring IIS? Update: For example, what I am trying to create is: [CLIENT] [IIS] [AD] [SOAP-SERVER] 1. |---------------->| 2. |<--------------->|<---------->| 3. |--------------------------->| 4. |<---------------------------| 5. |<----------------| 1.
