  I am using mysqldump for a large database (several GB) and import the result from a pipe, please see commands below, does it do incremental pipe, or wait until the first one finishes then import? is this a good way of importing large db across servers? I know you can export gz it, then pscp it then import. Quick alternative are welcome mysqldump -u root -ppass -q mydatabase | mysql -u root -ppass --host=xxx.xx.xxx.xx --port=3306 -C mydatabase

  I want to get the last 10 lines of multiple files. I know they all end with "-access_log". So I tried: tail -10 *-access_log But this gives me an error, where as: tail -10 file-* Gives me the output I'd expect. I would think this probably has more to do with BASH then tail. However commands like: cat *-access_log Work fine. Any suggestions?

  What is in Oracle's sqlplus equivalent of Linux's man or --help ? When I'm in sqlplus and type help index, I get some commands displayed, but there is no way to get specific sql syntax.   I'm running Win7 in Parallels 5 and have a five button USB mouse (Microsoft Intellimouse). I have my mouse's side buttons mapped to the Forward and Back (browser) commands. However, Parallel's Mouse Synchronization Service seems to be intercepting the mouse keypress event for these two buttons, and remapping them to the Windows Start Menu command. Any way to undo this? i.e. get my Back/Forward buttons working again?

I'm trying to run command which contains quotes.. example: Shell("cmd.exe") SendKeys.Send("cd "c:\users\abc def" ") <<<<--- this line SendKeys.Send("{ENTER}") there is an syntax error. the problem is that I need to add quotes to some commands as there is a space in folderpath. • Is there a way of using ctrl-r after typing part of command in bash?

  In bash the ctrl-r command is very useful, I type ctrl-r whatever and it searchs my history for commands containing the word whatever. But if I type whatever and realize that I would like search that word and hit ctrl-r nothing happens. Is there a way hitting a key and having it behaving as if I had typed ctrl-r whatever instead of whatever ctrl-r? I have the following in my .inputrc "\C-p": history-search-backward but this only works if the beginning of the line is the same.

  I have PostgreSQL 8.4 and 9.0 running on the same server (Ubuntu Lucid). I installed them both via apt-get (8.4 with the default package sources, and 9.0 after adding the ppa from https://launchpad.net/~pitti/+archive/postgresql). When I run a command like "createdb" from the command line or start up the "psql" shell, PostgreSQL version 8.4 is used by default on my system. So, how do I force these commands to use PostgreSQL 9.0 instead of 8.4?

• Context menu opens slowly in Explorer in Windows 7, why?

  I'm running a Windows 7 on my reasonably modern laptop, when I open the context menu in Windows Explorer it really takes it time to show up (~10 seconds). There are some programs that have their commands added to it (an archive manipulation utility, an antivirus, a version control system and such). I think one of them freezes the operation. Is there a benchmark tool to measure it somehow or a tool to turn them off by one in Explorer without uninstalling them (which would be a penultimate measure, because use them)?
