  So im sure there are topics on this, but alot of them list older material. And the last book: http://www.amazon.com/OpenGL-SuperBible-Comprehensive-Tutorial-Reference/dp/0321712617/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346116133&sr=8-1&keywords=opengl REALLY REALLY disappointed me. I DO NOT want to use someone else's library to learn this stuff, that bothers me SOOO much. So I was hoping there was a newer book that goes into detail, and doesn't use some sort of library "Hiding" everything from you. Or should I just look at older material? If so....anything thats not "too" out of date. Terrain tutorials are a plus (that's kinda my "goal"). Thanks

  I use culling on my Tiles in my 2D Tile Based Platformer, so only ones needed are drawn on screen. Thats easy to do. However, My Liquid tiles (Water, lava, etc) require an Update Method aswell as the normal Draw, which does checks against tiles, makes it flow, etc. So how should I cull liquid updates in my game? Not culling is to slow, culling only on screen looks awkward when you move. What do you think would be best for the player? Maybe someway of culling the visible tiles PLUS also adding the width/height of the viewport to start culling tiles at a fast enough rate in front of the player so it dosent look awkward when moving? (Not sure how to do this though, something with MaxSpeed of player and width of screen)

I see there is one FBX file and a few texture files in the content project, and that in the code you can choose which "take" to play. In this code it is "Take_001". Please tell me: When I create and animate my own 3D model in 3DS Max (2012, since I was told it's only possible in this version), how can I define those takes? plus, are any configurations need to be made when exporting FBX from 3DS Max to XNA?   I upgraded my ubuntu from 10.10 to 11.04 and since that day I have been facing issues with Dual Monitor in Ubuntu. When I connect my second monitor during boot time, everything works fine. But when I use my laptop and try to connect a monitor when I am running Ubuntu, I face a weird black screen issue. To see what I mean, following is a screenshot of the same. Here are the problems that happen Desktop background goes away As you can see on the left hand side of the desktop, the right and top portions are black The usual buttons - power button, mail, volumne etc., on the top panel do not work as expected Plus it suddenly crashses at times. And a lot of n other issues associated with this. Is there any patch/release that has happened for these bugs or should I report it anywhere? Help needed.

  I just installed GNOME Shell on my 12.04 a couple hours ago. The notifications are just cool, and I installed shell extensions, and it works smoothly in 1 hour. Then I restarted my computer for some reason, start back in to GNOME. And I was surprised with the default notification showed up. It replaced the GNOME notifications! I tried to: Reinstall gnome-shell. (autoremove and install) Reset desktop configuration. But it didn't work at all. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Plus: I got a double notification (osd + gnome notification showed up) when someone chatted me.

• How do I switch the Command key and Control key on a MacBook Pro (12.04)?

  I have scoured the web, and I can't seem to get Xmodmap / anything to work properly. I want to swap BOTH my Command keys with my Control key - in essence, inverting what they do currently. How would I do that? I tried xmodmap -e "keycode 133 = Control_L" and corresponding commands for keycodes 134 (right command) and 37 (control left). I even tried these commands, plus xmodmap -pke > ~/.Xmodmap and xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap in .xinitrc. My end goal is I want HUD / Dash to come up when I click control and command to functional control, i.e., control-v is a commond shortcut to paste, i would click command-v

  Let's say the website is doing fine(forums,pictures,ajax). And it needs scaling up/scaling out. I feel more comfortable with php but I have worked with asp.net as well. Would you say asp.net is much more powerful, more robust and thus easier to scale out? What would be the pros and cons of converting the website to asp.net in regards to scalability and performance versus keeping the website written in PHP?   I've read about feedback loops, how much this steady state error is for a given gain and what to do to remove this steady state error (add integral and/or derivative gains to the controller), but I don't understand at all why this steady state error occurs in the first place. If I understand how a proportional control works correctly, the output is equal to the current output plus the error, multiplied by the proportional gain (Kp). However, wouldn't the error slowly diminish over time as it is added (reaching 0 at infinite time), not have a steady state error? From my confusion, it seems I'm completely misunderstanding how it works - a proper explanation of how this steady state error eventuates would be fantastic.

  I have a very simple working console application written in C++ linked with a light static library. It is just for testing purposes. Now that the coding part is done, I would like to know the process of actually deploying the program. I wrote a very basic CMakeLists.txt that create makefiles or VS projects to build the sources. I also have a program that calls the static library in order to make some google tests. To me, the distribution of this application goes like this : to developpers : the src directory with the CMakeLists.txt file (multi-platform distribution) with a README.txt and an INSTALL.txt to users : the executable and a README.txt git repo : everything mentionned above plus the sources for testing and the gtest external lib A this point : considering the complexity of my application, am I doing it right ? Is there any reference that would formalize this deployment process so I can get better and go further ? Say I would like to add dynamic libraries that can be updated, external libraries like boost : how should I package this to deploy it in a professionnal way ?

  In all browsers (IE, Chrome, etc.) in my office and in all Blogger blogs using the dynamic template, I'm having this strange problem: No menu on the right side (except for the Subscribe button - other buttons are missing) plus no layout selection bar (top row). This problem is occasional, not happening reliably; any ideas? Update: whenever I get the menu problem with dynamic templates, I also seem to get a broken page (in Chrome, IE, etc) with simple templates - see second screenshot. Does anyone having this issue?
