• Business Objects Web Intelligence-style reporting in a Winform app. Is this possible?

  I have a WinForm app that displays results in a Gridview control. If a user right mouse clicks on a row, he can then, from a popup menu, select a command to perform on the row much like windows File Explorer. But now I want to be able to give the user the ability to construct a filter so that he can control which rows are displayed in the grid w/o effecting the functionality of the application. I would also like the user to be able to select the columns/fields that he sees in the grid. For the basis of this question, let's assume that the data displayed in grid comes from a single table. business Objects' Web Intelligence and Desktop Intelligence applications give me very flexible and powerful reporting capabilities, but I want to integrate this capability into my WinForm application. Does Business Objects, or maybe Crystal Reports provide this sort of functionality? I can construct my own query builder but I'd rather not reinvent sliced bread.

• Creating a video chat application for drupal site

  I am trying to write an application for website powered by drupal, basically i would like to create an application only authenticated users are able to use, and users are only allowed to connect with members of the opposite group they are a member of. I have been learning flash builder 4 and learning the basics of actionscript but I am still pretty new to Flash and Flex development. I would like to users to connect using the Adobe Stratus 2 protocol and if possible by authentication on existing site and using membership data from existing mysql database. If anyone could give me a nudge in the right direction on how I should go about creating this application or the next steps i should take, it would be greatly appreciated.

• How to use Device Emulator to debug my WinCE application

  I am working with an MFC application built on a WinCE platform in Visual Studio. I need to debug this application and I cannot do it using KITL and the hardware. I tried to use Device Emulator for this: I started a new Platform Builder Project (PDA Device, enterprise webpad). I built it after ensureing that KITL was enabled and so was kernel debugger. Once built, i set the target connectivity options as ce device, download and transport set to Device Emulator and Debugger is KdStub. Once I hit Attach to Device, the doload to target window pops up and then the RelDir window also does. However nothing happens after this and in the output window it says: PB Debugger The Kernel Debugger is waiting to connect with target. Please guide me on what I need to do to debug my application. • Feature activate via UI but does not show in the Libraries and Lists

  I am really hating SharePoint as there are hardly any good/concrete documentation. I developed custom List "MainCatalog" with few columns (not site columns). Create features and elements with MOSS feature builder at Site collection level so scope="site" installed via stsadm activated via UI "went to site collection website", Site Setting Site collection Feature (and saw my custom list "MainCatalog") and was able to activate. then went to "mySiteCollection Site Settings Site Libraries and Lists " My list is showing But it shows in the "mySiteCollection Create Custom Lists "MainCatalog" I guess it's showing there as a template... But my intention is to deploy this list from development to test environment. EXTREMELY STRESSED. I AM ON THIS FOR LAST 8 DAYS.....

• How to seralize only some properties in .Net?

  This is for a web project so i have several classes that inherit from Web.UI. I only want to serialize very particular properties (basically, only local properties) I'm aware of the XMLIgnore property that can be placed on a property to ignore items, but this won't work in my context since that would require modifying a bunch of stuff that i really don't want to modify (and probably can't). So how do i tell the xml serializer to ignore everything except for X and Y or tell it to seralize just X and Y? i could just create my own xml in a string builder or something and if that's the only way, so be it. however i'm looking for a method that will employ the built in XML stuff. My Requirement : At runtime , I get a string which contains a className ( could be A or B). I want to dynamically create an object of this class along with invoking the constructor. How can I achieve this . I don't want to use interfaces for common functionality of above classes Morever, later on I set the properties of this raw object using Propery Builder Bean Util class based on a list of columns . • Loading UINavigationController from another nib automatically by UITabBarController

  I think I've found the cause: Document Info window in IB has a warning: "'Selected Navigation Controller (Second)' has nib name property set to 'SecondView.nib', but this view controller is not intended to have its view set in this manner." Bummer. I've built nib in Interface Builder that has UITabBarController at top level and switches between UINavigationControllers. It works fine when everything is in a single nib file, but I'd like to use separate nib files for UINavigationControllers. Starting with Apple's TabBar template, if I just change class of SecondView to UINavigationController, it all breaks: and all I get is this: Is it possible to have separate file for UINavigationController without programmatically setting everything? I would like TabBarController to handle loading and unloading of nibs.

• How to make a cell of TAdvStringGrid editable?

  I am trying to implement a filter using the component TAdvStringGrid. My requirement is that I want the first row of this component to be editable when double clicked, so that the user can filter data. Borland C++ Builder is used to help achieve this task. I found this event OnCanEditCell. TCanEditCellEvent = procedure (Sender:TObject;Arow,Acol:longint;var canedit:boolean) of object; Within this function I've set canedit = true. This doesn't seem to work. Probably I need to do something more. I am new to Windows and GUI development. So any help would be great. Do I need to call this function from the OnDblClickCell event? • How do I create a view with a picker on the bottom and a table view on the top?

  Hi - first time asker, long-time lurker. I am trying to create an iPhone view that has a date/time picker on the bottom half of the screen, and a grouped, single-section, four-row table view on the top half of the screen (almost identical to the one Apple shows in Fig. 2-4 of their View Controller Programming Guide (but then never goes on to explain). Conceptually, I think I understand that what I need is a main view with a pair of subviews - one for the picker, and one for the table view. I'm pretty sure I can make the picker function once I have it on-screen, and I'm pretty sure I can make the table view function too. What I can't for the life of me figure out is how, programmatically speaking, to get the two views onto the screen simultaneously. I can lay it out perfectly in Interface Builder, but then it all goes to hell when I switch to Xcode...the view appears with the picker, but no table view. Thanks, in advance, for any help you can offer.

• Server side alerts for client side app

  Here's the scenario: User interacts with Adobe flex webpage to configure reports based on some data stored server side. They configure their view and have THAT view emailed to them daily. I've got the report builder, the part I'm trying to figure out is how to render the report server side and send it out as email (native flex functionality? convert to html? take screenshot? assume something is running client side?...) • NSArrayController that is sorted and unique (no duplicates) for use in a pop-up in a core-data app

  I have core data app with an entity OBSERVATION that has as one of its attributes DEALNAME. I want to reference through Interface Builder or by making custom modifications to an NSArrayController a list of unique sorted dealnames so that I can use them in a pop-up. I have attempted to use @distinctUnionOfSets (and @distinctUnionOfArrays) but am unable to locate the proper key sequence. I can sort the ArrayController by providing a sort descriptor, but do not know how to eliminate duplicates. Are the @distinct... keys the right methodology? It would seem to provide the easiest way to optimize the use of IB. Is there a predicate form for removing duplicates? Or do I need to use my custom controller to extract an NSSet of the specific dealnames, put them back in an array and sort it and reference the custom array from IB? Any help would be appreciated. I am astounded that other have not tried to create a sorted-unique pop-up in tableviews.

  Why default factory WON'T return full name of the controllers (with namespaces)? This creates a problem when I try to regiser controllers' names for dependency injection. Here is how I register controllers right now according to this situation. Even this brings up the pages without exception. • Add objects to NSDictionaryController

  I have an NSTableView which is bound to an NSDictionaryController. I have set this and the content dictionary through the interface builder. The question I have is, how do I add objects to the dictionary in a manner that the controller will see it automatically and display it in the table. I've seen in examples about NSArrayController that you add the new objects through the controller rather than the actual array so the controller sees the change. However, I don't see a similar way of doing this with the dictionarycontroller... Thanks for the help.

• How to approach local database management via Flex/Air App

  I am planning on using Flash Builder 4/Flex to write an AIR application which is primarily based around recording, storing and analyzing data. I'll be creating charts etc that need to update in almost real time. It's essential to me that the application be able to function without an internet connection so I need a local database of some variety, but I would also eventually like to build in online synchronization of the data where either database can be update each other based on newer information. • AS3 Dynamic Sprites/Movie Clips

  Im having a hard time putting in my head on how would i go at making flash read a xml file (this part I have it going smooth) and then fromt hat elements put on the stage a sprite or a movieclip that is interactive. To make it clear I want to load and display an image that when you press it it just creates another square beneath it with some text. I believe I have to interate the xml and then use each of the elements with a class and gettin that object onto the stage. Im using flash builder and as3 and im looking just for pointing in the rigth direction, of course I apreciate any more elaborate though some head clearing is just as good. Thank you.

• Why are the default UI controls in my iPhone app blurred?

  Why would the default iPhone interface elements, specifically the UISwitch (unmodified) and a UISegmentedControl appear slightly blurred? I have not changed them or called any private APIs. This blurring occurs when I run it both in the simulator and when I load it on my iPod Touch, so I don't think it's a one off drawing glitch. These elements were created via some code (initWithFrame:) not in interface builder. Here is a screenshot of the blurring in the simulator: http://drp.ly/14rS6a It looks similar on the actual device.   My UI is not updating when I expect it to. The application displays "projects" using a view similar to iTunes -- a source list on the left lets you filter a list (NSTableView) on the right. My filters update properly when they are examining any simple field (like name, a string), but not for arrays (like tags). I'm removing a tag from one of my objects (from an NSMutableArray field called "tags") and I expect it to disappear from the list because it no longer matches the predicate that is bound to my table's NSArrayController. • how can i set mTextView to show on button click

  i have a UITextView object which i have created in interface builder with it's hidden property unmarked.Now i want this textView to be invisible when my application launches and first view appears.Further i want it to be displayed when a particular method is called.Now this is what i have written in view did load [mTextView setHidden:YES]; self.mTextView=[[UITextView alloc] init]; it hides the textView ats the first view appears but when my desired method is called and i write [mTextView setHidden:NO]; it does not show it again.. Is it like we cant change the appearance of a textView once it is assigned because after assigning memory as self.mTextView=[[UITextView alloc] init]; and then writing [mTextView setHidden:YES]; it does not hide textView in viwDidLoad either.....

• Is there any reason why someone would want to create an Core Data model programmatically?

  I wonder in which cases it would be good to make an NSManagedObjectModel completely programmatically, with NSEntityDescription instances and all this stuff. I'm that kind of person who prefers to code programmatically, rejecting Interface Builder. But when it comes to Core Data, I have a hard time figuring out why I should kill my time NOT using the nice Xcode Data Modeler tool. And since data models are stuck to a given state (except when you want to do some ugly migration operations where thinks probably go wrong and users get mad, really mad), I see no big sense in a data model that's made programmatically for the purpose of changing it all the time. Did I miss something?
