• LCM says Smart List import is complete but actually its not...Here are probable reasons

  First of all some basics of smart list: Administrators use Smart Lists to create custom drop-down lists that users access from data form cells. When clicking in cells whose members are associated with a Smart List (as a member property), users select items from drop-down lists instead of entering data. Users cannot type in cells that contain Smart Lists. Smart Lists display in cells as down arrows that expand when users click into the cells. Below link will give you more information on Smart Lists: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/hp_admin/enum_pg.html I got a simple query today, "The LCM process generates and indicates a status of "Complete", however, the 3,018 records do not appear in the Planning application. No error exists in the log to identify the problem." Things which can be checked in this case: 1. Spaces are not allowed in the Entry Name, 2. Spaces are allowed in the Entry Label, 3. The name must start with an alpha character or underscore, 4. Valid characters for the remaining part of the name must be alpha, numeric, or an underscore, 5. Enter a name that is unique within the smart list, 6. I am not sure about the limits but I have seen 22,000 members loaded fine, 7. ID for every entry should be unique,  8. IDs need not to be consecutive, Ex: It was go from 1 to 100 then 500 to 900 then 1900 to 4500 etc. While import .xml file using LCM there were no errors in the foundation and LCM migration logs, but when checked in the HyS9PlanningSysErr.log, few errors were found:Ex: The name Data_Coord_(Prod)_ACS is invalid, The name Sr_Dir_b+Medcd_Gvt_Rel_Sls_Mkt is invalid, The name entered is invalid. • Oracle Partner Store (OPS) New Enhancements

  Effective June 29th, Oracle Partner Store (OPS) will release the enhancements listed below to improve your overall ordering experience. v Online Transactional Oracle Master Agreement (Online TOMA) The Online TOMA enables end users to execute a transactional end user license agreement with Oracle. The new Online TOMA in OPS will replace the need for you to obtain a signed hard copy of the TOMA from the end user. You will now initiate the Online TOMA via OPS. Navigation: OPS Home > Order Tools > Online TOMA Query > Request Online TOMA> End User Contact, click “Select for TOMA” > Select Language > Submit (an automated email is sent immediately to the requestor and the end user) Ø The Online TOMA can also be initiated from the ‘My OPS’ tab. Under the Online TOMA Query section partners can track Online TOMA request details submitted to end users. The status of the Online TOMA request and the OMA Key generated (once Ts&Cs of the Online TOMA are accepted by an end user) are also displayed in this table. There is also the ability to resend pending Online TOMA requests by clicking ‘Resend’. Navigation: OPS Home > Order Tools > Online TOMA Query For more details on the Transactional OMA, please click here. v Convert Deals to Carts The partner deal registration system within OPS will now allow you to convert approved deals into carts with a simple click of a button. Navigation: Login > Deal Registrations > Deal Registration List > Open the approved deal > Click Deal Reg ID number link to open > Click on 'Create Cart' link You can locate your newly created cart in the Saved Carts section of OPS. Links are also available from within an open deal or from the Deal Registration List. Click on the cart number to proceed. v Partner Opportunity Management: Deal Registration on OPS now allows you to see updated information on your opportunities from Oracle’s Fusion CRM opportunity management system.  Key fields such as close date, sales stage, products and status can be viewed by clicking the opportunity ID associated with the deal registration.  This new feature allows you to see regular updates to your opportunities after registrations are approved.  Through ongoing communication with Oracle Channel Managers and Sales Reps, you can ensure that Oracle has the latest information on your active registered deals. v Product Recommendations: When adding products to the Deal Registrations tab, OPS will now show additional products that you can try to include to maximize your sale and rebate. v Advanced Customer Support(ACS) Services Note: This will be available from July 9th. • Payments - Chase Paymentech PTK Decomissioning FTP After July 2014

  Customers who have integrated Oracle Payments with Chase Paymentech payment system are being contacted by Paymentech informing them about the impending desupport of standard File Transfer Protocol (FTP).  Customers are being advised to look for alternate protocol to connect to Paymentech for credit card and direct debit payment processing.  Oracle Payments product management and development is aware of Paymentech PTK decomissioning FTP after July 2014. • Lenovo V570 CPU fan running constantly, CPU core 1 running over 90%!

  I have seen that a lot of people are having this same issue. I am running a Lenovo V570 i5 4 core, 6 gigs of ram, and am running 11.10 Onieric Ocelot. On my system monitor graph it shows CPU at 20%, when I open the monitor it shows core #1 at around 90%, the other cores fluctuate at or below 5-12% if even. Now this seems like a really terrible balance of power between the cores, especially with so much stress on one core only, when these things are designed to work with 4 cores and not at such high temps. My current readings say 64 degrees Celsius, this does not seem normal for any cpu, and I am seriously considering, working on my windows7 partition until I see a real solution to this issue or upgrading to 12.04 right away when it comes out... I have seen countless things saying it has something to do with the Kernel, the kernel on mine is the same as when I upgraded, I really do not like messing with it, as when I had 11.04, I did tinker with it due to the freeze issues I was having, and that just made worse issues. I like this version 11.10 and would like to keep it for a while, but without the fear that my core is going to fry! So any help would be much appreciated! I did try changing a couple things in ACPI, and restarting this did not help, and here I am. I tried one thing prior to that that was listed under a different computer brand, but it would not do a make on the file. I really need help with this, I rely on this computer for a lot of things, and love this OS! Please help so I do not need to resort to my Microsoft partition! PLEASE!   I have a List of threads normally 3 threads each of the threads reference a webbrowser control that communicates with the parent control to populate a datagridview. What I need to do is when the user clicks the button in a datagridviewButtonCell corresponding data will be sent back to the webbrowser control within the child thread that originally communicated with the main thread. but when I try to do this I receive the following error message 'COM object that has been separated from its underlying RCW cannot be used.' my problem is that I can not figure out how to reference the relevant webbrowser control. I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me. • More Maintenance Plan Weirdness

  I’m not a big fan of the built-in Maintenance Plan functionality in SQL Server.  I like the interface in SQL 2005 better than 2000 (it looks more like building an SSIS package) but it’s still a bit of a black box.  You don’t really know what commands are being run based on the selections you have made, and you can easily make some unwise choices without realizing it, such as shrinking your database on a regular basis.  I really prefer to know exactly what commands and with which options are being run on my servers. Recently I had another very strange thing happen with a Maintenance Plan, this time in SQL 2005, SP3.  I inherited this server and have done a bit of cleanup on it, but had not yet gotten around to replacing the Maintenance Plans with all my own scripts.  However, one of the maintenance plans which was just responsible for doing LOG backups was running more frequently than that system needed, and I thought I would just tweak the schedule a bit.  So I opened the Maintenance Plan and edited the properties of the Subplan, setting a new schedule, saved it and figured all was good to go.  But the next execution of the Scheduled Job that triggers the Maintenance Plan code failed with an error about the Owner of the job.  Specifically the error was, “Unable to determine if the owner (OldDomain\OldDBAUserID) of job MaintenancePlanName.Subplan has server access (reason: Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'OldDomain\OldDBAUserID’..”  I was really confused because I had previously updated all of the jobs to have current accounts as the owners.  At first I thought it was just a fluke, but it happened on the next scheduled cycle so I investigated further and sure enough, that job had the old DBA’s account listed as the owner.  I fixed it and the job successfully ran to completion. Now, I don’t really like mysteries like that, so I did some more testing and verified that, sure enough, just editing the Subplan schedule and saving the Maintenance Job caused the Scheduled Job to be recreated with the old credentials.  I don’t know where it is getting those credentials, but I can only assume that it is the same as the original creator of the Maintenance Plan, and for some reason it insists on using that ID for the job owner.  I looked through the options in SSMA and could not find anything would let me easily set the value that I wanted it to use.  I suspect that if I did something like executing sp_changeobjectowner against the Maintenance Plan that it would use that new ID instead.  I’m sure that there is good reason that it works this way, but rather than mess around with it much more, I’m just going to spend my time rolling out my replacement scripts instead. Chalk this little hidden oddity up as yet one more reason I’m not a fan of Maintenance Plans.

• Orchestrating the Virtual Enterprise

  During the American Industrial Revolution, the Ford Motor Company did it all. It turned raw materials into a showroom full of Model Ts. It owned a steel mill, a glass factory, and an automobile assembly line. The company was both self-sufficient and innovative and went on to become one of the largest and most profitable companies in the world. Nowadays, it's unusual for any business to follow this vertical integration model because its much harder to be best in class across such a wide a range of capabilities and services. Instead, businesses focus on their core competencies and outsource other business functions to specialized suppliers. They exchange vertical integration for collaboration. When done well, all parties benefit from this arrangement and the collaboration leads to the creation of an agile, lean and successful "virtual enterprise." Case in point: For Sun hardware, Oracle outsources most of its manufacturing and all of its logistics to third parties. These are vital activities, but ones where Oracle doesn't have a core competency, so we shift them to business partners who do. Within our enterprise, we always retain the core functions of product development, support, and most of the sales function, because that's what constitutes our core value to our customers. This is a perfect example of a virtual enterprise.  What are the implications of this? It means that we must exchange direct internal control for indirect external collaboration. This fundamentally changes the relative importance of different business processes, the boundaries of security and information sharing, and the relationship of the supply chain systems to the ERP. The challenge is that the systems required to support this virtual paradigm are still mired in "island enterprise" thinking. But help is at hand. Developments such as the Web, social networks, collaboration, and rules-based orchestration offer great potential to fundamentally re-architect supply chain systems to better support the virtual enterprise.  Supply Chain Management Systems in a Virtual Enterprise Historically enterprise software was constructed to automate the ERP - and then the supply chain systems extended the ERP. They were joined at the hip. In virtual enterprises, the supply chain system needs to be ERP agnostic, sitting above each of the ERPs that are distributed across the virtual enterprise - most of which are operating in other businesses. This is vital so that the supply chain system can manage the flow of material and the related information through the multiple enterprises. It has to have strong collaboration tools. It needs to be highly flexible. Users need to be able to see information that's coming from multiple sources and be able to react and respond to events across those sources.  Oracle Fusion Distributed Order Orchestration (DOO) is a perfect example of a supply chain system designed to operate in this virtual way. DOO embraces the idea that a company's fulfillment challenge is a distributed, multi-enterprise problem. It enables users to manage the process and the trading partners in a uniform way and deliver a consistent user experience while operating over a heterogeneous, virtual enterprise. This is a fundamental shift at the core of managing supply chains. It forces virtual enterprises to think architecturally about how best to construct their supply chain systems.  Case in point, almost everyone has ordered from Amazon.com at one time or another. Our orders are as likely to be fulfilled by third parties as they are by Amazon itself. To deliver the order promptly and efficiently, Amazon has to send it to the right fulfillment location and know the availability in that location. It needs to be able to track status of the fulfillment and deal with exceptions. As a virtual enterprise, Amazon's operations, using thousands of trading partners, requires a very different approach to fulfillment than the traditional 'take an order and ship it from your own warehouse' model. Amazon had no choice but to develop a complex, expensive and custom solution to tackle this problem as there used to be no product solution available. Now, other companies who want to follow similar models have a better off-the-shelf choice -- Oracle Distributed Order Orchestration (DOO).  Consider how another of our customers is using our distributed orchestration solution. This major airplane manufacturer has a highly complex business and interacts regularly with the U.S. Government and major airlines. It sits in the middle of an intricate supply chain and needed to improve visibility across its many different entities. Oracle Fusion DOO gives the company an orchestration mechanism so it could improve quality, speed, flexibility, and consistency without requiring an organ transplant of these highly complex legacy systems. Many retailers face the challenge of dealing with brick and mortar, Web, and reseller channels. They all need to be knitted together into a virtual enterprise experience that is consistent for their customers. When a large U.K. grocer with a strong brick and mortar retail operation added an online business, they turned to Oracle Fusion DOO to bring these entities together. Disturbing the Peace with Acquisitions Quite often a company's ERP system is disrupted when it acquires a new company. An acquisition can inject a new set of processes and systems -- or even introduce an entirely new business like Sun's hardware did at Oracle. • Intel Centrino Wireless N 1000 doesn't work on a Lenovo Z560

  I upgraded my Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10 and my Wifi has stopped working. I have a Lenovo Z560 that has Intel centrino wireless-N 1000. I have searched various threads having similar problems for a solution and have no success. The wlan0 is not even showing up in rfkill. Please help me find a solution. • How to handle non-existent subdirectories?

  I have a dynamic website with friendly URLs. Example: Instead of /user.php?id=123, I have /user/123 Instead of /index.php?category=fishes, I have /fishes But, how do I handle non-existent subdirectories such as /about/123? Currently it gives a 200 success instead of a 404 not found error. Is there a way to deal with non-existent subdirectories in Apache config and at the same time allow for friendly URLs? Or do I have to handle this individually for each PHP script?

• SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 CTP4 is available

  This morning the SQL Server team announced the release of Service Pack 1 CTP4 for SQL Server 2012. Back in July I talked about CTP3 and how the release contained BI features only; no fixes.   Today I came across a question from one of our clients that: "what members are used on each data form WITHOUT having to go through the report generated out of our Planning app". We worked with client on this and reached to a simple query. All the form related information is stored in the following tables: HSP_FORM HSP_FORMOBJ_DEF HSP_FORMOBJ_DEF_MBR HSP_FORM_ATTRIBUTES HSP_FORM_CALCS HSP_FORM_DV_CONDITION HSP_FORM_DV_PM_RULE HSP_FORM_DV_RULE HSP_FORM_DV_USER_IN_PM_RULE HSP_FORM_LAYOUT HSP_FORM_MENUS HSP_FORM_VARIABLES If we want to retrieve just the members included, we can concentrate on: HSP_OBJECT to get the Object_ID for form, Object_Type is 7 for forms. Today I have the great pleasure to announce availability of Agile PLM 9.3.3 and AutoVue for Agile PLM 20.2.2 - both are immediately available on Oracle Software Delivery Cloud. In this same timeframe our team has also published Oracle PLM Mobile 1.0, EC MCAD 3.1, and EC MCAD 3.2. Agile PLM 9.3.3 focuses on improving management business processes, improving management of intellectual property, and overall product improvements based on customer feedback. In this short timeframe, we have made very significant progress on all three fronts. The Agile PLM 9.3.3 What’s New Whitepaper discusses all of the new capabilities. Looking forward, we will continue to deliver new releases with laser focus on solving real business problems and making users more productive. With our release of Innovation Management, you will be seeing dramatic new capability to help manage the innovation funnel and the processes to determine what product projects to fund. • Some Oracle VM 3 updates

  Today we did another patch set update for Oracle VM 3 (3.0.3-build 227). This can be downloaded from My Oracle Support as patch ID 14736185. There are quite a few updates in here and I highly recommend any Oracle VM 3 customer or user to install this update. This patch can be installed on top of Oracle VM 3.0 versions 3.0.2 and 3.0.3. The patch is cumulative for 3.0.3. So if you already installed patch update 1 (3.0.3-150) then this will just be incremental on top of that and brings you to 3.0.3-build 227. There is a readme file which contains the patchlist in the patch info. There is a set of man pages in /u01/app/oracle/ovm-manager-3/ovm_utils/man/man8. There now are 6 commands : ovm_vmcontrol : VM level operations ovm_servercontrol : server level operations ovm_vmdisks : virtual disk/physical location mapping for VM disks ovm_vmmessage : message passing utility between the manager and the VM tools (in the Oracle VM templates) ovm_repocontrol : repository level operations ovm_poolcontrol : pool level operations Some of the new changes : at a pool level, acknowledge events and cascade to servers and virtual machines with outstanding events at a pool level, do a rescan of the storage for fibrechannel/iscsi disks if you add new devices (it does this operation then on every running server) at a repository level, fixup a device if it had a failed create repository at a repository level, refresh the repository and this will update the free space in the UI for ocfs2 repositories at a server level, acknowledge server events and cascade to virtual machines if needed at a VM level, acknowledge VM events at a VM level, bind vcpus to cores with vcpuset/vcpuget Please see the man pages and remember that these tools are just written As Is - no SRs... The problem is that Ubuntu 12.04 only recognizes it as an Mobile Broadband USB, not as an Wireless Adapter USB, is there a way to "trick" Ubuntu to recognize my USB as a Wireless Adapter? Thanks in advance. Notes: I used the lsusb command and got this: `Bus 002 Device 009: ID 12d1:1c23 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.` I have 64-bit Ubuntu Installed, so it may just be a driver problem.
