  I'd like to use some speech 2 text in my microsoft surface application. I saw that it is possible, but I don't really know where to start. Is there any framework/library available, or a code snippet, or a tutorial?? I don't even know exactly what i should google for ;) ===EDIT=== I read that it is necessary to use a grammar to recognize words. So if I want to proceed free text, is there a predefined grammar for the english language? Or is it a better choice to don't use speech2text but just audio files instead?

• TortoiseSVN 1.6.8 missing repository browser in Branch/Tag "To URL" dialog?

  It seems that in TortoiseSVN 1.6.8 (on Windows), when you click the "To URL..." button in the Branch/Tag dialog, it now pops up a generic "browse for folders" dialog. It used to pop up a Repository Browser. Displaying a regular folder browser isn't much use, since you can't navigate to any of the tags/branches via the file system. Does anyone know if this is a regression or a deliberate change? Any possible workarounds (other than reverting to 1.6.7, which works fine)? Notes: I am running a repository on the local file system, which may yield different results to one going across a network. I'm definitely using an FSFS repository, so changes to BDB access via file:/// shouldn't apply. • Why can't I declare C# methods virtual and static?

  I have a helper class that is just a bunch of static methods and would like to subclass the helper class. Some behavior is unique depending on the subclass so I would like to call a virtual method from the base class, but since all the methods are static I can't create a plain virtual method (need object reference in order to access virtual method). Is there any way around this? I guess I could use a singleton.. HelperClass.Instance.HelperMethod() isn't so much worse than HelperClass.HelperMethod(). Brownie points for anyone that can point out some languages that support virtual static methods. Edit: OK yeah I'm crazy. Google search results had me thinking I wasn't for a bit there.

  Ok, so I would like to make a GLR parser generator. I know there exist such programs better than what I will probably make, but I am doing this for fun/learning so that's not important. I have been reading about GLR parsing and I think I have a decent high level understanding of it now. But now it's time to get down to business. The graph-structured stack (GSS) is the key data structure for use in GLR parsers. Conceptually I know how GSS works, but none of the sources I looked at so far explain how to implement GSS. I don't even have an authoritative list of operations to support. Can someone point me to some good sample code/tutorial for GSS? Google didn't help so far. I hope this question is not too vague.

The error source is XmlSerializer s = new XmlSerializer(typeof(BookStore)); When I tried to look for a solution on google, I found it that LinkedList has some problems with serialization. • Issue with jQuery ajax post (working with get). error 12031

  hi, UPDATE: I didn't set the response mimetype to 'application/json'. It works now. In the website I'm working on (http://piem.org:8000/) I've got an issue with an ajax post request. Every time the search button is clicked or the google maps 'idle' is triggered I send a request to get some data. While the request works as expected in most cases, it returns an error when I click a result and come back to the search page. (type 'barcelona' in the search box to get the unique restaurant in the db). The server processes the request properly but it seems that the error occurs when the javascript receives it (it returns a "12031" error code). It works properly with FF 3.0.6, IE 8.0 and Chrome 5.0 with GET, and with FF with both POST and GET. Anybody can help? thanks jul

• Javascript top variable in IE8

  I am trying to reference a javascript function in a .js file loaded in my main page from an iframe using the 'top' variable. It works in FF, Safari, and IE6 but not in IE8. The snippet is (assigned to onmouseover): top.set_image(this, 'images/login_h.png') Where set_image is my function. The error is "Object does not support this function" Also, I have been looking for the definition of top. I can't find it in the ECMAScript specification or the w3schools site and Google is unhelpful (who'da thunk top was a common word?).

  Hi, I recently struggled with an apparently simple Android layout: I wanted a WebView above a Button. It worked fine with the following parameters: WebView: Height: wrap-content Weight: unset (by the way, what is the default?) Button: Height: wrap-content Weight: unset However if the web page became too big it spilled out over the button. I tried various combinations of weights and heights, and all except one either completely hide the button, or partially cover it. This is the one that works (copied from http://code.google.com/p/apps-for-android/source/browse/trunk/Samples/WebViewDemo/res/layout/main.xml): WebView: Height: 0 Weight: 1 Button: Height: wrap-content Weight: unset If you change any of those, e.g. give button a weight or change the WebView height to wrap-content then it doesn't work. My question is: Why? Can someone please explain what on Earth the android layout system is thinking?

  When i try to check leaks of my iPhone App using Instruments, everything is just fine. Same App on actual real device shows this leak for a few times during the app launch. It is pretty non-deterministic and it happens in system libraries. I tried to google down the solution without a luck. Anyone experiencing the same problems? Anyone knows the solution? I find interesting, that every of my leak in code will crash the app sooner or later. These GeneralBlock-3584 leaks keeps app perfectly stable. Might this be reason for AppStore rejection? Thanx for any answer regarding this undocumented problem (Apple is silent unfortunately).

  is there a project hosting for c# code and that has a simple to use visual studio plugin? does not need to be free. it does need to be private. should have a plugin or already by usable from within visual studio. something like a hosted team foundation server would be best, however i only found one and for $150 per user per month. a bit much, don't you think :P the problem with searching via google is that there is a lot of free project hostings for open source and can't seem to weed them out :( thnx a lot for any info

  I'm wondering about that many new applications, I think most built in WPF, has this really cool Windows Aero Glass interfaces. For example Seesmic or the upcoming Firefox 3.7 Searching in the internet most time it looks like you need a hack to realize this. But seriously: I don't think big software development teams use hacks to roll out their huge used products. So my question is: Windows Aero Glass Areas - How to do? Is it only possible with a hack? Maybe it's just one property, i don't know. I'm WinForms developer so I never tested out WPF. But my Google search didn't look like It is easier with WPF.

  My .net app generates messages which it sends via the google hosted mailserver. I'd link to track the results so I can see bounced and invalid domain messages. How (and/or where) do i embed something in either the body or another element of the message that lets me link the original message with any and all following smtp traffic? Is the problem is complicated by the fact that out-going is handled by googlemail? Native IIS services running under winserver08. logparser should be an integral part of my solution, shouldn't it? thx

  When monitoring a remote app (using jstatd) I can neither profile nor monitor cpu consumption. Heap monitoring (provided I do not use G1) works. jvisualvm provides the message "Not supported for this JVM." in the CPU graph window. Is there anything missing in my setup? The google showed up next to no results.   I observe that placing the following in an external script file has the desired effect in my copies of Firefox and Google Chrome: var s = document.createElement('script'); s.setAttribute('type', 'text/javascript'); s.setAttribute('src', 'http://www.example.com/external_script.js'); s.onload = function () { doSomethingNowThatExternalScriptHasLoaded } document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].appendChild(s); It adds a an external script tag to them DOM, and attaches a function to the tag for when the script has loaded. I'm having trouble testing in Internet Explorer right now, but I'm not sure if it's related to that addition in particular, or something else. Does this method work in the more modern versions of other browsers, including IE7/8? If not, how else could I go about this?

  My co-worker and I have come across this warning message a couple times recently. For the below code: package com.mycompany.product.data; import com.mycompany.product.dao.GenericDAO; public abstract class EntityBean { public abstract GenericDAO<Object, Long> getDAO(); // ^^^^^^ <-- WARNING OCCURS HERE } the warning appears in the listed spot as EntityBean.getDAO() has non-API return type GenericDAO<T, ID> A Google search for "has non-API return type" only shows instances where this message appears in problem lists. I.e., there's no public explanation for it. What does this mean? We can create a usage problem filter in Eclipse to make the message go away, but we don't want to do this if our usage is a legitimate problem. Thanks!

• Remove address fields from Mac address book using Applescript

  Hello, A Facebook Sync app filled the address fields of my Mac Address Book contacts with their cities. Having tons of people who have useless addresses makes it difficult to search by people on Google Maps app (ending up scrolling through many many people- I only want to see those who have proper addresses entered). I want to clear all the home address fields in my address book using applescript. I wrote something small but couldn't get it to work, probably needs some help from somebody who knows applescript :) tell application "Address Book" repeat with this_person in every person repeat with this_address in every address of this_person if label of this_address is "home" then remove this_address from addresses of this_person end if end repeat end repeat end tell I tried to deduct the logic of multiple addresses/phones from other scripts but could only find adding them, not removing them.   On a quite ancient UNIX (Apple A/UX 3.0.1 for 680x0 processors) using the built-in c compiler (cc), this issue arrises. Here is the code I'm trying to compile: #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> int main() int argc; char **argv; { if (argc > 1) puts(argv[1]); return (EXIT_SUCCESS); } And here is the output I get: pigeonz.root # cc -c test.c "test.c", line 5: declared argument argc is missing "test.c", line 6: declared argument argv is missing Using a more modern prototype did not help, nor did the manual page, nor a quick google search. What am I doing wrong?
