  • Programmatically creating scrollview(s) from custom component in android

    I'm trying to build a compound control in Android, containing (among other things) a ScrollView. Things go wrong when I try to view the control in Eclipse, crashing with a NullPointerException after the error message: "Parser is not a BridgeXmlBlockParser". Stacktrace: java.lang.NullPointerException at android.view.View.<init>(View.java:1720) at android.view.ViewGroup.<init>(ViewGroup.java:277) at android.widget.FrameLayout.<init>(FrameLayout.java:83) at android.widget.ScrollView.<init>(ScrollView.java:128) at android.widget.ScrollView.<init>(ScrollView.java:124) at android.widget.ScrollView.<init>(ScrollView.java:120) at my.compound.control.StringPicker.onMeasure(StringPicker.java:46) ... I've traced the error to the following conditions: The NPE is thrown because a Context.obtainStyledAttributes() call returns null when the attrs argument passed is null. This only applies to the BridgeContext implementation used in Eclipse, which expects attrs to be an instance of the BridgeXmlBlockParser. The attrs argument is null because I create the ScrollView using the (Context) constructor. There is a workaround of course, which is passing the attrs I receive when Eclipse constructs the compound control, but I don't want all the attributes set on the compound control to apply to my inner control. Am I doing something wrong, is this a bug in Android Eclipse, ...?

  • Android SeekBar Minimum and Continuous Float Value Attributes

    I'm looking for a way to implement a minimum value in my SeekBar and also have the option to increment decimal numbers. For example, currently my SeekBar's minimum is set to 0, but I need it to start at the value 0.2. Also, I would like to have the functionality to be able to have the user select a number from 0.2 to 10.0 at a .1 precision so they can choose the numbers 5.6 or 7.1.     I just installed Titanium SDK (1.5.1) and all the Android SDKs. Also, I already have iPhone SDK 4.2 installed. Each row contains a checkbox, and my adapter contains the following code: CheckBox cb = (CheckBox) v.findViewById(R.id.item_sold); cb.setChecked(p.isSold); setupCheckboxListener(cb, v, position); ... private void setupCheckboxListener(CheckBox check, final View v, final int position) { check.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { CheckBox cb = (CheckBox) v; if (cb.isChecked()) { System.out.println("Should become false!"); cb.setChecked(false); } else { System.out.println("Should become true!"); cb.setChecked(true); } } }); My row XML file includes the following: <CheckBox android:id="@+id/item_sold" android:layout_width="0dp" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="0.10" android:layout_gravity="center" android:gravity="center" android:focusable="false" android:clickable="false"/> But anytime I press one of the checkboxes, check.isChecked() returns true, even if the box is unchecked. I even checked to make sure that the checkboxes were distinct and weren't picking up just the last value/etc. Setting up the listeners inline instead of in a method doesn't seem to help, either. It's literally just the isChecked() condition that isn't working appropriately - it seems to always give me the inverse value. Setting an onClick on the row is not acceptable in this case because I need to allow row selection for something else. What could be causing this issue?

    I'm having a problem getting my android dev environment setup in Windows 7. I follow the instructions here, as well as several environment sublinks. I am using Eclipse with the Android plugin. I have installed the Java JDK several times, in various locations (jdk-6u20-windows-i586.exe) - but I am obviously missing something. Every time I run "android create avd --target 2 --name my_avd" I get an error: C:\Users\andrew>android create avd --target 2 --name my_avd WARNING: Java not found in your path. Checking it it's installed in C:\Program Files\Java instead. ERROR: No suitable Java found. In order to properly use the Android Developer Tools, you need a suitable version of Java installed on your system. We recommend that you install the JDK version of JavaSE, available here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ You can find the complete Android SDK requirements here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/requirements.html This error message is the reason for me installing the JDK several times over. First I tried installing to a location on my e: drive. I then moved it to the default loc (program files (x86)\java\jdk.6.something. I also tried forcing it to go into the program files\ path, but it still automatically installs into the (x86) path. I have added the install path to my path environment variable every single time, yet I still continue to get this error. My suspicion is that windows 7 and the android tools are not playing together well in terms of finding the JDK, but who knows, it may be something entirely different. If you have seen this error before, I would appreciate a hint.

Here's the puzzling part: Instead of getting a standard Do you want to uninstall this app? I get a dialog with this text: MainActivity is part of the following app: Test Do you want to uninstall this app? Why do I get this message instead of the standard one? Why is MainActivity the name of the app when I specifically stated the name of the app is "Test"?

    I have activities A and B. The A is the one with LAUNCHER intent-filter (i.e. the activity that is started when we click the app icon on home screen). A launches B using startActivity(new Intent(A.this, B.class)). When the user has the B activity open, and then put my application into the background, and later my application's process is killed, when the user starts my application again, B is opened instead of A. This caused a force close in my app, because A is the activity that initializes the resources my app needs, and when B tried to access the uninitialized resources, B crashes. Do you have any suggestions what should I do in this situation?

    Hi, android is new for me. I am trying to develop a program on 1.5 platform but still in progress, plz guide me. I have some information in following format "item1","description1" "item2","description2" "item3","description3" "item4","description4" . . . . I want to show them on screen, I dont know which is recommended way to do this. After google I found 2 method. but I failed to successfully implement any of one. Method 1 I break both columns data into 2 different arrays, then populate listactivity with array of column 1, enable filter & on clicked event I want to raise alert which should show Text clicked in tilte & desc from 2nd array as msg body based on position.   • ViewPager cycle between views?

    I want my ViewPager implementation to cycle between views instead of stopping at the last view. For example, if I have 3 views to display via a ViewPager, it should return back to the first View after the third View on fling instead of stopping at that third view.   • Saving to SharedPreferences from custom DialogPreference

    I've currently got a preferences screen, and I've created a custom class that extends DialogPreference and is called from within my Preferences. My preferences data seems store/retrieve from SharedPreferences without an issue, but I'm trying to add 2 more sets of settings from the DialogPreference. Basically I have two issues that I have not been able to find. Every site I've seen gives me the same standard info to save/restore data and I'm still having problems. Firstly I'm trying to save a username and password to my SharedPreferences (visible in the last block of code) and if possibly I'd like to be able to do it in the onClick(). I've attempted to change the context to my preferences class, use a blank context and I've also tried naming my SharedPrefs and using "getSharedPreferences()" as well. I'm just not sure exactly what I'm doing here. As I'm quite new to Java/Android/coding in general, could you please be as detailed as possible with any help, eg. which of my files I need to write the code in and whereabouts in that file should I write it (i.e. onCreate(), onClick(), etc) Edit: I will need to the preferences to be Application-wide accessible, not activity-wide.   • Mac Finder - Alternate default application?

    Hi, Double click on an image opens the default application associated with it. E.g. "jpg" opens with "Preview", but some times I need to open with an alternate application, e.g. photo editing software. I don't want to change the "default" handling from "Preview" but may be with "Cmd-Enter" or "Ctrl-Enter" I want to open with another application instead of "Open With"-Select Application... Is it possible? Thanks.

  • Deploying an ADF Secure Application using WLS Console

    Last week I worked on a requirement from a customer that wanted to understand how to deploy to WLS an application with ADF Security without using JDeveloper. The main question was, what steps where needed in order to set up Enterprise Roles, Security Policies and Application Credentials. In this entry I will explain the steps taken using JDeveloper 11.1.1.2. 0 Requirements: Instead of building a sample application from scratch, we can use Andrejus 's sample application that contains all the security pieces that we need. Open and migrate the project. Also make sure you adjust the database settings accordingly. Creating the EAR file Review the Security settings of the application by going into the Application -> Secure menu and see that there are two enterprise roles as well as the ADF Policies enforcing security on the main page. Make sure the Application Module uses the Data Source instead of JDBC URL for its connection type, also take note of the data source name - in my case I have: java:comp/env/jdbc/HrDS To facilitate the access to this application once we deploy it. Go to your ViewController project properties select the Java EE Application category and give it a meaningful name to the context root as well to the Application Name Go to the ADFSecurityWL Application properties -> Deployment  and create a new EAR deployment profile. Uncheck the Auto generate and Synchronize weblogic-jdbc.xml Descriptors During Deployment Deploy the application as an EAR file. Deploying the Application to WLS using the WLS Console On the WLS console create a JNDI data source. This is the part that I found more tricky of the hole exercise given that the name should match the AM's data source name, however the naming convention that worked for me was jdbc.HrDS Now, deploy the application manually by selecting deployments ->Install look for the EAR and follow the default steps. If this is the firs time you deploy the application, once the deployment finishes you will be asked to Activate Changes on the domain, these changes contain all the security policies and application roles insertion into the WLS instance. Creating Roles and User Groups for the Application To finish the after-deployment set up, we need to create the groups that are the equivalent of the Enterprise Roles of ADF Security. For our sample we have two Enterprise Roles employeesApplication and managersApplication. After that, we create the application users and assign them into their respective groups. Now we can run the application and test the security constraints

  • Android SDK emulator freezes on a Mac running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

    I'm having trouble running the Android SDK on both of my Macs running OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard. This appears to be a 64 bit vs. 32 bit issue, as Snow Leopard now defaults to 64-bit everything, including the Java virtual machine. I found this webpage with instructions on how to get the Android tools to run in the 32-bit Java VM, and I am now able to run the Android GUI tool to download SDK files, create AVM's, etc. However, when I try the Hello World tutorial and get to the point where I run my application under the Android emulator, everything goes south. The emulator appears to start but it hangs (spinning beachball of death cursor) without displaying anything. (This only hangs the emulator; the rest of the system still works fine.) If I follow the exact same steps (minus the 32-bit java hack) in a Windows virtual machine, everything works fine. Googling didn't yield anything useful (except for the 32-bit java hack I spoke of earlier). This occurs on both my Mac Pro tower and 13" MacBook Pro. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Kindle Fire: PopupMenu$OrientationChangeListener leak

    I have a little popup menu that anchors on a button in the action bar. This works well on 3.0/3.1 Xoom and Galaxy tabs, and a 4.1 Nexus 7. However, on a 7" Fire HD (this one), I get an error about a leaked intent receiver when exiting the application. The error occurs only if the menu was not opened during that run. There is no mention of OrientationChangeListener in the one copy of the source I've found; I suspect Amazon has a different implementation. Questions: Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone know of a workaround or a fix? (Where) can I find Amazon's source code? Finally, (shudder) how important is it that I don't leak a receiver on application exit?     In this blog I will describe how to Extend Application Module.I will explain this based on my previous blog PL/SQL based EO.  I want to extend FndUserAM to add a procedure to raise a custom business event when the FND_USER has created successfully. Here I am using a custom business event "xxcust.oracle.apps.demo_event". Please find the code used in Business Event. TablePackage Following steps needs to perform. 1) Download all files pertaining to "Entity Object Based on PL/SQL" to JDEV_USER_HOME/myprojects and JDEV_USER_HOME/myclasses.If you want to see the content of source java file decompile it and save it in JDEV_USER_HOME/myprojects. 2) Create XXFndUserAM as follows. 3) Add following method to XXFndUserAMImpl.    import oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException;   import oracle.apps.fnd.framework.server.OADBTransactionImpl;   import oracle.apps.fnd.wf.bes.BusinessEvent;   import oracle.apps.fnd.wf.bes.BusinessEventException;    import java.sql.Connection;     public void raiseEvent(String userName) {        String eventName = "xxcust.oracle.apps.demo_event";        String eventKey = userName;        Connection conn = ((OADBTransactionImpl)getOADBTransaction()).getJdbcConnection();         BusinessEvent event = null;         try{             event = new BusinessEvent(eventName, eventKey);             /* Setting Parameters */             event.setStringProperty("USER_NAME",userName);             event.setStringProperty("STATUS","User has created sucessfully");             event.raise(conn);             }             catch (BusinessEventException e) {                 throw new OAException("Exception occured when invoking web service - "+e.getMessage());             }             getOADBTransaction().commit();    } 4) Create a controller which extends from xxcust.oracle.apps.fnd.user.webui.CreateFndUserCO.Call raiseEvent method from new controller. 5) Create substitution for FndUserAM. 6) Migrate following files to $JAVA_TOP. xxcustom.oracle.apps.fnd.user.server.FndUserAMImpl.javaxxcustom.oracle.apps.fnd.user.server.XXFndUserAM.xmlxxcustom.oracle.apps.fnd.user.webui.XXCreateFndUserCO.java 8) Migrate the substitution. 9) Restart the server. 10) Personalize the page /xxcust/oracle/apps/fnd/user/webuiCreateFndUserPG and set the new controller. 11) Verify the substitution has properly applied by clicking About the Page. 12) Access the page and create a user. You can the the result of the Business Event.
