• JBoss naming service port conflict

  I am having trouble getting JBoss started. I am running JBoss 5.1.0 on Mac OSX (yes, I know it is an old version, but that’s what the application is certified on for now). I am using Apple’s JVM 1.6.0_37. I have tried changing the port in conf/bindingservice.beans/META-INF/bindings-jboss-beans.xml: <bean class="org.jboss.services.binding.ServiceBindingMetadata"> <property name="serviceName">jboss:service=Naming</property> <property name="bindingName">RmiPort</property> <property name="port">5098</property> <property name="description">Socket Naming service uses to receive RMI requests from client proxies</property> </bean> Unfortunately, I then get the name errors with the new port number. I also installed a network monitoring tool on my box and it doesn't look like any ports are being opened when I start jboss, but it is possible, that the tool might be missing a port that is opened and then closed quickly. Any ideas what could be the problem or how to fix it?

• How to prevent virtual machines's copy

  I'll have to deploy virtual machines on demo laptops, which will use Vmware player, but I've got some security concerns, as some data stored in the virtual machines are a bit sensitive. Is there a way to prevent the copy of these virtual machines ? Are the virtual hard drives encrypted, and if not is there a way to encrypt them ? In short, is there a way to lock down everything so that nobody could copy and or use these VMs in another computer ?

Subnet B contains a DHCP server with a scope configured to service the workstations. How would I configure the DHCP server so that it tells the workstations to look at the SCCM server on Subnet A as its bootserver?

  I am trying to use EC2 tools to get all the machines with a particular tag in some type of array in /config/deploy/prod.rb file in Capistrano. Something like this: In prod.rb file: //untested command workers-array[]=$(ec2-describe-instances -F vpc-id=1234 -F tag:Env=prod -F tag:SystemType=worker) for(i=0;i<workers-array.len;i++){ role :worker-A, workers-array[i] } I am not sure how we can do this in capistrano, am new to ruby too.   So, I have a Dell R710 with PERC 6/i Integrated and 6 450Gb Seagate 15k SAS disks in RAID10, I have 30 Xen vps working on it. Now I need to deploy second server with same hardware for same tasks and I want to figure out maybe it's a good idea to use RAID5 instead of RAID10 because we have a lot of "free" memory on first server and not so much "free space". How do I find out disks performance on first server and find out could I move it to RAID5 without slowing down of whole system?

I need to install the Wireless and Graphics drivers, but the HP site is offering me both ATI and Intel graphics drivers (at 102MB and 470(!)MB) a pop, as well as Intel, Broadcomm, RealTek and Atheros wireless drivers. Is there a bit of software that will tell me what devices are in the machine so I don't have to go through, trial-and-error and find which is the right driver for the hardware?

  I'm in the process of deploying a bunch of Win2K8R2 VMs via vSphere's deployment template stuff, and in the deploy specification it allows you to punch a list of commands to run. Aside from activating Windows (which it doesn't do), it works pretty well. Does anyone know the command-line equivalent of going into a network adapter's properties and unchecking the IPv6 box? If I had that I could put that in the spec and not have to manually uncheck the IPv6 box.

• How would I prevent users from logging in a PC while software is installing?

  So I currently am looking for a solution to keeping users logged out while software is installing or activating a pop-up message that cannot be moved, closed, and is always on top, because sometimes when we deploy software to users (via SCCM), the parameters of the install require the user to be logged out for the duration of the installation. I've looked at trying to customize the group policy for account lockout but with no luck. Anyone know of any programs or scripts that do this? Thank you!

So I used the following, which essentially parses the Date command to extract its sub strings into a variable: set Day=%Date:~3,2% set Mth=%Date:~0,2% set Yr=%Date:~6,4% This is all great, but if I deploy this batch file to a machine with a different regional/country settings, it fails because month, day and year are in different locations. How can I extract month, day and year regardless of the date format?

  How can I verify if a ssh public key is successfully installed on a Ubuntu server? I'm trying to unable continuos deployment and to do so I need to install the public key I got from codeship on the server. I have copied the key I got on the server at ~/.ssh/authorized_keys/id_rsa.pub and restarted ssh but I'm still not able to deploy my app so as first debugging step I'd like to make sure the public key is properly installed on the server.   Is it possible to specify a relative connection string for an AzMan XML store? My current connection string is connectionString="msxml://c:/azman.xml" but I really need to make that relative so other developers and automated builds can get the latest authorization store. MS documentation seems to suggest that connectionString="msxml://azman.xml" should work but that throws a The request is not supported error. EDIT: I realised that the fact I'm using AzMan through the Enterprise Library Security Application Block was important to the question.

• Importing a dmp with partitioned tables into Oracle XE

  I've got a schema containing partitioned tables. I can use exp to create a .dmp, but when I import that into Oracle XE, I get errors because Oracle XE doesn't support partitioned tables. How do I get the .dmp imported into Oracle XE? I think pre-creating the tables might do it, but how do I extract the DDL in some automated way to do this? Or can I create the exp somehow without partitions?
