• How can I use domain masking without having self referral in Google Analytics

  I have one old domain that points to a website's server's ip (let's call it www.oldsite.com). I have a new one, www.newsite.com, that is set up to be forwarded to a specific page on the website. Due to the way the host of newsite.com places the website in a frame, in Google Analystics, the newsite.com is listed as a source rather than the source they were at before hand, causing a self referral. A solution is to edit the code of the iframe as I looked up, but there's no way to really edit the host's masking source code of course. Another solution I did previously was have www.newsite.com point to the address that www.oldsite.come pointed to. It solved the analytics problems, but in exchange, the url masking no longer worked. In the address bar, it came up as www.oldsite.com. Is there a way to make me have url masking and be able to forward to agree with google analytics? The server of the website is hosted on a cloud server, if this is anymore information.

• Input/Output console window in XNA

  I am currently making a simple game in XNA but am at a point where testing various aspect gets a bit tricky, especially when you have to wait till you have 1000 score to see if your animation is playing correctly etc. Of course i could just edit the starting variable in the code before I launched but I have recently been interested in trying to implement a console style window which can print out values and take input to alter public variables during run-time. I am aware that VS has the immediate window which achieves a similar thing but i would prefer mine is an actual part of the game with the intention that the user may have limited access to it in the future. Some of the key things i have yet to find an answer to after looking around for a while are: how i would support free text entry how i would access variables during runtime how i would edit these variable I have also read about using a property grid from windows form aps (and partially reflection) which looked like it could simplify a lot of things but i am not sure how I would get that running inside my XNA game window or how i would get it to not look out of place (as the visual aspect of is seems to be aimed just for development time viewing). All in all I'm quite open to any suggestions on how to approach this task as currently I'm not sure where to start. Thanks in advance.

I need to install upstream version of TeX Live for 12.04 to edit the manual for Ubuntu.   This January I'm migrating our main SQLServer 2000 based database to a beefier server. Is there any standard procedure or documentation on how to do it? I need to replicate all at the new server (databases, jobs, DTSs, vinculated servers, etc). Edit: I mean SQLServer 2000 on both ends! Edit: Be calm, people, I just crossed the versions from another software I posted about at the same time as this. Effectively, I even checked the wikipedia to be sure version 8 was 2000. • users unable to add registry keys to HKCU

  I may not have this 100% correct so need some clarification. Are normal users on a 2003 terminal server allowed to add registry keys the their own HKCU section in the registry, or are they only allowed to edit existing ones? The reason I ask is that we have 3 keys that we need to add for each user on login. I thought it would be as simple as having a straightforward batchscript run that silently adds the keys for the user. Here is what I used: regedit.exe "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\example.reg" When the user runs this batch scipt, they see nothing as you would expect, but the keys are not added. If I simply run the .reg file as the user, it asks if I want to add the key, but then has an error saying there was an error accessing the registry. Do I need something a bit more complex to accomplish this task. • Using Folder Redirection GPO and Offline Files and Folders

  I want to use Folder Redirection to redirect user's My Documents to a network share. First question is: What is best practices for mapping the drive? Should I use the profile tab in AD with the %username% variable, or a net use logon script, or something else? Second question is: How do I deal with laptops and syncing the network with the local storage? I want to have 2-way syncing so if they manually map their networked home drive and edit it from a different computer, it will sync the newer version to their My Documents folder the next time they connect their normal work computer. I also want to be sure that if they edit a file offline on their laptop while away from the office, that the network version syncs the changes the next time they connect that laptop. Please advise best practices for this scenario in a 2008 R2/Win7 environment. I am also interested in Mac clients for this environment, and while I am very Mac savvy, I would like to hear what others consider to be best practices for Mac network homedirs in a Win environment.

  I have Windows 7 working on one machine but when I move it off to the new machine it crashes. If this is a driver issue do I need to download the drivers and install them first? Or do I install Windows 7 on the new machine first then copy the drivers folder over to the other disk so it will boot up correctly? I can stick the drive back in the old hardware and it runs fine.

  I've worked out how to get my linux based Netbeans PHP development machine to behave much like what happens when you create a new ASP.Net project in Visual Studio. Firstly create multiple PHP project in Netbeans,say for example mysite1 and mysite2. Next edit the apache2/sites-enabled/000-default file and add two virtualhost sections as below <VirtualHost 127.0.1.1> ServerName mysite1.localhost DocumentRoot /var/www/mysite1/ </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 127.0.2.1> ServerName mysite2.localhost DocumentRoot /var/www/mysite2/ </VirtualHost> For each site you add, pick a different ip address similar to the above where I use the third octet to increment, next edit the etc/hosts file and add the following two lines 127.0.1.1 mysite1.localhost 127.0.2.1 mysite2.localhost Then in Netbeans, go to File->Project Properties click on 'Run Configuration' and set 'Project Url' to http://mysite1.localhost for the first project and http://mysite2.localhost for the second project. That will give you a PHP development box which develops multiple PHP projects similar to how a Visual Studio Windows based box handles multiple ASP.Net sites. Hope this helps someone :)

• Bizarre SSH Problem - It won't even start

  I recently got Ubuntu 12.04 Precise, got it up and running with some MediaWiki software, static IP on the box and router and was able to access the main page even from a cell phone. Everything seemed great... Then I wanted to finally get rid of the monitor and keyboard and login remotely via SSH. I installed openssh-server, let everything point to port 22 for a test run and installed putty on my Windows XP machine. I got a connection refused. Went back and started checking the Ubuntu install itself... (I'm under root from this point on) $ sudo -s $ service ssh status ssh stop/waiting $ service ssh start ssh start/running, process 2212 $ service ssh status ssh stop/waiting Apparently ssh has stopped or is waiting for something.... $ ssh localhost ssh: connect to host localhost port 22: Connection refused I can't even connect to myself... I checked ufw (firewall) to see if port 22 is doing alright... $ sudo ufw status Status: active To Action From 22 ALLOW Anywhere 22/tcp ALLOW Anywhere 22 ALLOW Anywhere (v6) 22/tcp ALLOW Anywhere (v6) sshd_config shows only Port 22 Is ssh not using the right IP address at all? I just don't get what I did wrong here. When this is up and running I will def change the port number, but for now, I don't want to mess with the default install too much until a test run with putty is successful. Edit: Here are my sshd_config file and my ssh_config file. The command /usr/sbin/sshd -p 22 -D -d -e returns: /etc/ssh/sshd_config line 159: Subsystem 'sftp' already defined. Edit: @phoibus moving the sshd_config file and reinstalling did the trick! service ssh status the above command shows that ssh is now running and I am now able to log in from my windows xp computer remotely via putty. Thanks so much! I can now use my monitor for other things!

• diagnostic software for wifi adapter

  I'm having trouble with my wifi connection. Is there any software out there that can help me determine if the problem is in the drivers or in the hardware? Regretfully, I'm working on Vista Edit: The problem I'm having is that the Vista reports that the wireless radio is connected, shows an IP and all, the router also shows that the computer is connected, but there's no connectivity. I can't logon to the router, and I can't even ping it. When I ping it I get the response: General Failure I have tried connecting with and without various wireless security protocols. I have tried disabling the wireless adapter and re-enabling it from the Device Manager I have tried updating the driver None of this has helped. When I connect via Ethernet (with a cable, that is), everything works fine. Edit: I'm not using any firewall on the computer, that I'm aware of. The IP address for the WIFI adapter is similar to the one for the LAN adapter. They differ by one.

• How can I programmatically change the keyboard layout?

  I want to run a shell command or script that will configure each of my Ubuntu Precise boxes to use the Dvorak keyboard layout as the default (and only) layout. With earlier versions, I was able to set the XKBVARIANT in /etc/default/keyboard but when I make this change in Precise (and reboot), the keyboard layout appears to be unaffected (both in console and in gnome). I tried also setting the XKBMODEL to pc105 and XKBLAYOUT to us, but that did not seem to help. I know I can set the layout for gnome using the 'keyboard layout' tool... but I want the change to affect the console, and I want to automate the process. How can I accomplish this? Edit: To clarify, I want to know how I can cause to change (using only a script or command-line) the keyboard layout to be Dvorak as the default and only keyboard layout for both Gnome and the console. I want this change to be persistent (survive reboots), just as it is when the change is made through the Keyboard Layout tool. Edit: Let me put it another way. If I had installed the operating system myself (which I did not because the OS was installed by the virtual machine infrastructure), I could have selected the desired keyboard layout at install time, and that layout would be applied persistently, system-wide. How can I change the layout to appear as if I had set it during the install process?

  I'm trying to map View.NavigateBackward and View.NavigateBackward like so: View.NavigateBackward = Alt + LeftArrow View.NavigateForward = Alt + RightArrow Pretty simple to do in Visual Studio with the Keyboard Options dialog. OK so I've assigned the shortcuts and the NavigateBackward one is working. But NavigateForward, which used to be assigned to Edit.CompleteWord, is staying with its old assignment. I've checked that Edit.CompleteWord is assigned to 'Ctrl+K, W' but the Alt+RightArrow is still behaving as complete word. Is there something special about the arrow keys that I can't assign them? I want to do this so the mouse buttons behave the same in VS 2010 and my web browser. Works fine for the back button, but the forward button won't re-assign properly. Suggestions?

  Hay, i have some files on my server with the owner set to "apache", I'm not quite sure how this happened. Anyway, i need to change the permission of these files to 0777 so i can download/edit them. However i cannot. I'm using a 1and1 Linux server and use Plesk to administrate it. I have the ability to login via SSH. However, if i run chmod or chown i get a "permission denied" error, and if i try to sudo chmod or chown it says the command cannot be found. When i go to edit my domain details, i get this option Shell access to server with FTP user's credentials and have these options /bin/sh /bin/bash /sbin/nologin /bin/bash (chrooted) /bin/rbash Any idea's how i should go about changing the permissions or changing the owner? • Internet slow on one router only [the problem only in Ubuntu] [on hold]

  Internet works perfectly on every other router, but browsing sucks at home (slow browsing and slow loading times). I changed DNS servers to 8.8.0.0, still doesn't help. And funnily, download speed is extremely high on this network (meaning torrents for example), but using browsers and loading websites is extremely slow (only on this network). Do I need to change something in router settings or what can I try? By the way, I use wired connection to router. EDIT: There's no problems when using Windows.   Hello everyone I am using microsoft exchange 2003 on windows 2003 small business server. For the past month or so, the archiver account has been receiving multiple copies (about 15 or so) of each and every email. edit: All copies share the same Message ID. The machine that hosts exchange is updated religiously and an antivirus scan is run on a daily basis. So would anyone please have any ideas about how to deal with this and furthermore, how i would be able to delete the multiple copies of emails from outlook 2003 inbox.   I have two Ubuntu machines. Both have openssh-client and openssh-server installed on them. ssh-ing from machine G (fresh Ubuntu 11.10 installation) to machine K works great. But ssh-ing from machine K to machine G results always in the Error: Connect to host some_hostname port 22: Connection timed out I went through the troubleshooting section of help.ubuntu.com and I got the following results: ps -A | grep sshd # results in 848 ? 00:00:00 sshd - sudo ss -lnp | grep sshd # results in 0 128 :::22 :::* users:(("sshd",848,4)) 0 128 *:22 *:* users:(("sshd",848,3)) - ssh -v localhost # works! - sudo ufw status verbose # yields: "Status: inactive" I haven't change anything in the config file. What can I do to locate the Problem and solve it? Glad about every hint! Edit: ping was succesful in both directions! I did a telnet <machineK> 22 from machin G which resulted in Trying and then in telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection timed out. But telnet the other way around worked just fine! Edit 2: ssh start/running, process 966 # yields: ssh start/running, process 966 /etc/hostname # contains my hostname, let's call it blubb /etc/hosts # contains the following 127.0.0.1 localhost # 127.0.1.1 blubb 129.26.68.74 blubb # I added this! - sudo service ufw status # yields: ufw start/running I installed Gufw and set it to ON. Then I selected from Incoming the option ALLOW. Then I sshed to another machine from where I sshed back to my machine. Still the same error as above: connect to host blubb port 22: Connection timed out Any more hints, what I can check?

• IIS 7.5 website application pool with 'full control' permissions hackable?

  Although I would never set this permission, I would like to know how a static html website with the permission mentioned in the title could be compromised. In my humble opinion, I would guess that this would pose no threat since a web visitor has no way to upload/edit/delete anything. What if the site was a simple PHP website that simply displayed ‘hello world’? What if this PHP site had a contact us form that was properly sanitized? Thank you EDIT: I should mention that restricting IIS to GET and POST requests only, otherwise people anybody can delete and upload content.

• Massive Xubuntu desktop malfunction

  I'm using Xubuntu 11.04. Before everything worked fine, but when booting today the following happened: 1) Window focus does not leave the first-opened program. This means that if I keep Firefox open, and open a terminal, window focus will never be transferred to the terminal. (EDIT: if I open a terminal first, and then open Firefox, Firefox steals focus) 2) Window menus have disappeared. The maximize, minimize, etc., buttons and menu are gone. 3) In Xfce Settings Manager, the "Window Manager" settings window is empty. There is just a gray screen there, so I cannot modify any window settings. 4) The keyboard shortcuts I had previously defined using the Settings Manager do no longer work. Further, ALT-TAB no longer works for cycling between windows. 5) The mouse pointer does not show when I first log in. I have to log out and log in again (with an invisible pointer) before the mouse shows itself. EDIT: 6) I cannot resize or move the Thunderbird window, but I can move the Firefox window What can I do to troubleshoot this?

  Hi guys, Suppose I have a server accessible via FTP and it hosts websites Suppose I want to edit the website locally so it wont affect the site live, and suppose I edit a whole bunch of files, and I don't want to deal with the hassle of keeping track of which files I've edited all the time... Once I finished editing I want to upload it to the server via FTP....is there some FTP software that automatically detects which files have been edited and have only those files uploaded and overwritten rather than having me manually choosing the files I've edited (and hence having to keep track of edited files) or have me upload the entire site which is a waste of time thanks in advance

• Outlook.com Sweep rule vs Filter rule

  New outlook.com introduced new sweep option. With it, you can create a filter to move messages from particular sender to a particular folder after certain days the mail comes. This rules gets added to the Filter list. However we cannot edit this rule by clicking Edit in front of it in that list. The dialog appears saying you should delete the rule and create the new one. I don't understand why sweep rules are considered differently from Filter rules? I have 68 filter rules. What if I want to add such time clause to these filter rules so that instead of moving the incoming mails immediately to a certain folder, they will be kept in Inbox for say 10 days and then they will be moved. Such time clause cannot be added to the filter rules. So should I delete all these 68 filters and create new Sweep rules?

• Accessing second hard drive

  So I recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit on my computer. I installed it on my 60gb SSD hard drive, and in the installation it never acknowledged the existence of my second hard drive. The hard drive that I keep all my files on, and which I want to make my home folder if I can, is a Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB cache (WD1002FAEX). I've read the following: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Mount but honestly cannot work out how to access the hard drive from my Ubuntu installation. I did have Windows 7 64-bit prior to installing Ubuntu. I have backed up all the files on the hard drive, but if I could just access them straight off that would be super cool. Does anyone know how I can use the second hard drive? Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package linux-lts-backport-natty Checking on http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/ppas reveals that it is only available for 10.04. Looks like I'll have to unplug and re-plug hardware if I want it working still :(

• Ethernet 802.1x client -> WiFi AP on a Raspberry Pi?

  I have an Ethernet connection that requires 802.1x authentication (TTLS, MSCHAPv2, name+password). My goal is to connect that to something that would then act as an WiFi AP, so I can use the connection on more devices (iPhone, notebook, etc.) Would it be possible/good idea to use Raspberry Pi for this purpose? Or are there better-suited devices to do this? EDIT: found some alternatives but because of low rep can't post more than two links... OpenWRT + wpa_supplicant guide Carambola - works with OpenWRT (but probably not standalone?) Hornet-UB - works with OpenWRT Asus RT-N10+ + OpenWRT how-to EDIT 2: probably going to try TP-LINK TL-WR740N. It's a classic router, but can be flashed with OpenWRT, and the price beats everything else I've seen.
