    I created a form search with two buttons - one for results on the web page and one to create an excel sheet. Problem: When a user conducts a search with results on the web page - the user would have to select the criteria again then click the create excel button to create the sheet. How can I work it, so the user after conducting a search can just click one button to create the excel sheet? (Using "Post" for the form)

  • How do search engines handle hyphenated words?

    I am not sure my title fully explains what I mean. I thought this might be an interesting question. If I had a set of keywords, broken with a dash or 2, will search engines consider the dashed split keyword as maybe a full keyword? Say I have a site that sort of breaks words down, like the dictionary sites do. So a keyword for that page, might end up in the page, and / or the URL, as broken by dashes. Key-word = keyword Co-op-er-at-ive = cooperative Pho-to-gra-phy = Photography www.example.com/key-word/ www.example.com/co-op-er-at-ive/ www.example.com/pho-to-gra-phy/ I know search engines will consider a dash (at least Google) as a space, and understand it as multiple words. But in the English language, a dash can also break a word down (at least I think it can, can't it?), so will search engines also take this into consideration? I did a 'little' research, I Googled some words and placed random dashes, and it returned the words I searched for, but this could be considered a typo from the user on Google's search end, so really I am wondering if I can purposely put a dash in a keyword, and have the search engine spiders still catch that keyword as the real word without dashes? I've done a little Googling and looking here on Stackoverflow, but everything comes down to dashes for multiple words, not really the specific thing I'm trying to figure out. Hopefully that makes sense, I am not an expert in SEO, yet, but get the basics and have been playing, and this is just really a random question to satisfy my knowledge of playing :P

    Which is the best place to request Ubuntu for a minor improvement? My request feature is this : In Ubuntu dash when I search for "Upd" it gives me update manager and some other files. Now when I click enter by default the first entry will be selected. Can we make this a slightly better experience by highlighting the first item in search results which will be selected by default if we press enter - Just like in Gnome shell Search for upd in unity dash Search for upd in gnome-shell If you notice, update manager is highlighted by default in gnome shell and appears more intuitive. Can we implement the same in Unity ? Sorry for posting this in askubuntu. I just wanted to know which is the best place to discuss this. Thanks

  • FULL LIST Difference Edubuntu over Ubuntu

    I have always used Edubuntu rather than Ubuntu because I have many children including home educated ones who casually use the education offerings. I appreciate many but not all of the extra offerings. I never got beyond 8.04.4 LTS, so am considering updating. I note now with Edubuntu 12.04 it is 2GB i.e.4 times bigger, even apparently using squashfs. I do now have to consider whether the extra resources are worth it in each computer in my household. I am sick of reading over and over again 'Edubuntu is Unbuntu with extras such as blah blah', and in a different place the same thing but with a different blah blah. I downloaded Edubuntu 12.04 and ran it 'live'. Can't say I got on at all with the Unity Interface (this can be changed when installed), but the apparent education stuff seemed quite small and pathetic, I am obviously not finding it. Is there anywhere a FULL LIST of what Edubuntu has pre-installed has over Ubuntu, so a sensible decision can be made whether to go for it, or just add packages that look relevant to me to Ubuntu. Is there truly no other difference between Unbuntu/Edubuntu but the extra educational packages? (I for example have no school server, but if I understood exactly what is involved, with the number of computers in the house, it may be worth creating one!) Please advise. Thank You.

  • Google search question, front page not showing...

    I know this is probably a dumb question but I hope someone can give me some insight; I was ranked on Google first page of search results for "funny st patricks day shirts" but I was third from the bottom and not familiar enough with SEO, so I signed up for "Attracta" to rank higher. Big mistake. Since using Attracta, I've lost the first page and I'm now on the fourth page in that search. What I noticed is that Google is now just showing a sub-page or side page, (a link from my front page, to a page which has only a few designs in it) this is not where I would want customers to land first... but my front page is not showing in that search anymore. Obviously, the title of this side page is not geared toward that search result, so I know that's why I have the pr drop. Why is my front page not ranking over that page, though? Why is it apparently gone from that search, or so far back no one will ever find it? I need to know how to fix this quick if anyone has any advice at all for me. It's the busiest season for my website and the people who were stealing design ideas from me are all ranked higher than my site now. (I can prove this, lol) So, I'm very frustrated by that. I would be very grateful to have any advice at all as to what I can do to fix this. THANKS in advance for any advice you can offer. Catelyn

    When the text zoom in/out, via "Ctrl Key + Mouse Wheel", was introduced in editors in a recent version of NetBeans IDE, many people cheered. Others booed because the combination "Ctrl Key + Mouse Wheel" is often pressed accidentally, especially when the user scrolls in the editor while intending to use some Ctrl shortcut, such as paste, which is Ctrl-v. So, in NetBeans IDE 7.2, the text zoom in/out is now "Alt Key + Mouse Wheel": http://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=212484 Remember that the text change only persists for as long as the file is open. So, if you've accidentally resized the text (i.e., in the current situation, prior to 7.2, where unintended side effects may happen because of Ctrl key usage), you can just close the file and reopen it to get the text size back to the way it was before.

  • What ever happened to the Google AJAX Search API

    I am looking to query the main Google search however all references including stackoveflow point to the Google AJAX Search API. The odd thing is that it does not seem to exist any more not even a note to say it is depreciated? The old links point to main Google code site. If I look at the list of API's on that site the API it replaced is there Web Search API (Deprecated) which links back to same page but not the Google AJAX Search API. Further Google searching is not being helpful either, many blog posts pointing to the same Google site (http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxsearch/) that has no content and redirects to the same place? Just to prove it did exist I have found it on the way back machine however the last snapshot did not show any special unusual message.

I have managed to get part of the way: $ file myfile.txt myfile.txt: Non-ISO extended-ASCII text, with LF, NEL line endings $ iconv -f ascii -t utf-8 myfile.txt > myfile.txt.utf8 $ file myfile.txt.utf8 myfile.txt.utf8: UTF-8 Unicode text, with LF, NEL line endings ## edit myfile.txt.utf8 using nano, to fix failed character conversions (mostly åäö) $ file myfile.txt.utf8 myfile.txt.utf8: UTF-8 Unicode text, with LF, NEL line endings However, I can't figure out how to convert the line endings. How do I do to replace LF+NEL with CR+LF (or whatever is the standard)? When I'm done, I'd like to see the following: $ file myfile.txt myfile.txt: UTF-8 Unicode text

Some things that I have found through research: 100 - 150 Chars long is ideal 3-5 words in your url, according to Matt Cutts Use .htaccess to force clean urls Do not duplicate data (important) Clean and precise, describing the content Use hyphens On the homepage, I try to detect the users location based on IP, but this isn't always accurate, and not always reliable. So until they put in their city/location, I can't always use this structure but this is potentially work-able. For Searching, a form post to a results page: domain.com/jobs/[city]/[search] ie: domain.com/jobs/toronto/sales manager/ OR domain.com/search/jobs/toronto/sales manager/ or do I remove the word JOBS and just use Search. I trying to keep good search terms in the URL, but also keep it clean and concise. Can someone give me some feedback and thoughts to 'why'...

    This question already has an answer here: Will having multiple domains improve my seo? 7 answers I'm running a website for a global company, and although we rank first in search engine results here in Ireland, a search done from other countries doesn't rank us as highly. If I register the domain at other top level domain names (eg. example.co.uk, example.nor etc.) and then just mirror the .com site to those other domains, will I be penalised by search engines for having duplicate content? Has anyone else faced a similar problem and found a way to capture the global search engine? Thanks.

    Oracle's Secure Enterprise Search is part of PeopleSoft now.  It is provided as part of the Peopltools platform as an appliance, and is used with applications starting with release 9.2.  Secure Enterprise Search is a rich and powerful search product that can enhance search and navigation in PeopleSoft applications.  It also provides useful features like facets and filtering that are common in consumer search engines.Several questions have arisen about the deployment of SES and how to administer it and insure optimum performance.  People have also asked about what versions are supported on various platforms.  To address the most common of these questions, we are posting this list of tips.Platform SupportSES 11.1.2.2 does not support some of the platforms supported by PeopleTools, such as Windows 2012 and AIX 7.1. However, PeopleSoft and SES can use different operating system platforms when SES is deployed on a separate machine.SES 11.2.2.2 will have the required platform support for PT 8.53 in the future. We are planning to certify PT 8.53 once the testing is complete in 8.54 development and all platform support is released for 11.2.2.2.ArchitectureWe recommend running SES on a separate machine (from your apps) for two reasons:1.    SES bundles specific WebLogic, Java, and Oracle DB versions and might need different OS patches at a minimum than PeopleSoft. By having SES run on a different machine, these pre-requisites can be managed better through their lifecycle independenly for PeopleSoft and SES.2.    SES is resource intensive - it runs it's own WebLogic and Oracle database.
