• How to check if a Statistics is auto-created in a SQL Server 2000 DB using T-SQL?

  Hi all. A while back I had to come up with a way to clean up all indexes and user-created statistics from some tables in a SQL Server 2005 database. After a few attempts it worked, but now I gotta have it working in SQL Server 2000 databases as well. For SQL Server 2005, I used SELECT Name FROM sys.stats WHERE object_id = object_id(@tableName) AND auto_created = 0 to fetch Statistics that were user-created. However, SQL 2000 doesn't have a sys.stats table. I managed to fetch the indexes and statistics in a distinguishable way from the sysindexes table, but I just couldn't figure out what the sys.stats.auto_created match is for SQL 2000. Any pointers? BTW: T-SQL please.

• Python Pari Library?

  Pari/GP is an excellent library for functions relating to number theory. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be an up to date wrapper for python anywhere around, (pari-python uses an old version of pari) and I'm wondering if anyone knows of some other library/wrapper that is similar to pari or one that uses pari. I'm aware of SAGE, but it's far too large for my needs. GMPY is excellent as well, but there are some intrinsic pari functions that I miss, and I'd much rather use python than the provided GP environment. NZMATH, mpmath, scipy and sympy were all taken into consideration as well. On a related note, does anyone have any suggestions on loading the pari dll itself and using the functions contained in it? I've tried to very little success, other than loading it and learning about function pointers.

• moss 2007 workflows

  Hi, I'm new to MOSS 2007. I need create a workflow to look at a document's review date (a select list predefined to values of 3 , 6 or 12 months) and send an email if the review date has passed. So the workflow needs to get the documents review date then convert this to date time add to the created date if greater than current date send an email. • R: Creating Custom Shapes with ggplot

  Full Disclosure: This was also posted to the ggplot2 mailing list. (I'll update if I receive a response) I'm a bit lost on this one, I've tried messing around with geom_polygon but successive attempts seem worse than the previous. The image that I'm trying to recreate is this, the colours are unimportant, but the positions are: In addition to creating this, I also need to be able to label each element with text. At this point, I'm not expecting a solution (although that would be ideal) but pointers or similar examples would be immensely helpful. One option that I played with was hacking scale_shape and using 1,1 as coords. But was stuck with being able to add labels. The reason I'm doing this with ggplot, is because I'm generating scorecards on a company by company basis. This is only one plot in a 4 x 10 grid of other plots (using pushViewport) Note: The top tier of the pyramid could also be a rectangle of similar size.

• how to run javascript from c# code ?

  I have a webrequest that returns a html response which has form inside with hidden fields with some javascript that submits the form automatically on pageload ( if this was run in a browser). If I save this file as *.html and run this file in browser , the java script code automatically posts the form and the output is excel file. I want to be able to generate this file from a c# code which is not running in broswer. I tried mocking thr form post but its complicated and has various scenarios based on the original webrequest querystring. any pointers.... i know its not possible to probably run JS code that posts the form - from within c# code but still thought of chekcing if someone has done that.

  Which programming language would you recommend to learn about data structures and algorithms in? Considering the follwing: Personal experience Language features (pointers, OO, etc) Suitability for learning DS & A concepts I ask because there are some books out there that are programming language-agnostic (written from a Mathematical perspective, and use pseudocode). If I learn from one of these I would like to work out the algorithms in a chosen language. Then, there are other books which introduce DS & A concepts with examples in a particular programming laguage - and I would follow these examples as well. Either way, I have to choose a language, and I would like to stick to one throughout. Which one best fits the bill.

• jQuery remove selected option from this

  Hi all, first post here, I come in peace :) I've searched but can't quite find what I'm after. I am trying to manipulate the selected option of a select box. Can someone please explain why this works: $('#some_select_box').click(function() { $('#some_select_box option:selected').remove(); }); but this doesn't: $('#some_select_box').click(function() { $('this option:selected').remove(); }); I just want to use "this" instead of spelling out the id of the select box - can someone point me in the right direction for the correct syntax? It's driving me mad because it looks like it should be really simple. And I'm sure it is to someone, but not me, cos its the end of the day and I'm brain-fried... Any pointers much appreciated. • Oracle global lock across process

  I would like to synchronize access to a particular insert. Hence, if multiple applications execute this "one" insert, the inserts should happen one at a time. The reason behind synchronization is that there should only be ONE instance of this entity. If multiple applications try to insert the same entity,only one should succeed and others should fail. One option considered was to create a composite unique key, that would uniquely identify the entity and rely on unique constraint. For some reasons, the dba department rejected this idea. Other option that came to my mind was to create a stored proc for the insert and if the stored proc can obtain a global lock, then multiple applications invoking the same stored proc, though in their seperate database sessions, it is expected that the stored proc can obtain a global lock and hence serialize the inserts. My question is it possible to for a stored proc in oracle version 10/11, to obtain such a lock and any pointers to documentation would be helpful.

  Hi, I have built an information portal in PHP [Something like a recipe book], where the first few recipes are free to access. The advanced recipes are available only to paid members. I intend to use a simple subscribe now paypal button. When the user clicks on this button, he is directed to paypal website and upon payment redirected to my site. How do I collect the payment information from paypal? I do not want to use a wsdl. I need the information to update my user level field [0 for registered users, 1 for paid users] in the users table. • Sending Subversion Change Log Info Via Hudson

  I'm trying to integrate Hudson into our development process, and everything is going smooth except for one thing. I had been using Phing to do deployments, and one of the things that was being triggered was an email to our tech support email address containing a list of all the commit messages between the last time code was deployed and the present SVN revision. I was doing something like this: read in a file from the root directory of the currently-deployed application that contains the SVN revision when the app was deployed place that value in a Phing variable insert that value into a command to send the SVN commit messages via email create a file in the root directory of the newly-deployed application that contains the current SVN revision I'd like to be able to add that information to the email that gets sent out by Hudson when a successful build goes out. Any pointers on how to accomplish this task in Hudson would be greatly appreciated.

• Calling https process from ASP Net

  I have an ASP NET web server application that calls another process running on the same box that creates a pdf file and returns it. The second process requires a secure connection via SSL. The second process has issued my ASP NET application with a digital certificate but I still cannot authenticate, getting a 403 error. The code is a little hard to show but here's a simplified method ... I have the following function declaration: int foo(const string &myname) { cout << "called foo for: " << myname << endl; return 0; } How does the function signature differ from the equivalent C: int foo(const char *myname) Is there a difference between using string *myname vs string &myname? What is the difference between & in C++ and * in C to indicate pointers? Similarly: const string &GetMethodName() { ... } What is the & doing here? Is there some website that explains how & is used differently in C vs C++?

• Drupal htaccess redirect - all files in directory to new directory

  Hiya, I've moved a site to Drupal, but am now getting a lot of 404 errors due to the search engines taking their time to update the indexes. The 404 paths all look similar to this: recipedata/ccp1300006/633_L.jpg recipedata/ccp1500005/risotto.jpg recipedata/ccp1500006/haddock.jpg So I'd like to do some htaccess redirection with mod_rewrite to take care of this lot. All the images DO exist - the path has just changed to /sites/default/files/images/ I've edited a lot of redirects into my htaccess already, but because the ccpXXXXXX directory changes I can't quite figure out the regex. This was my last attempt, but yeah - doesn't work :) Can anyone give me some pointers? • Django : mysql : 1045, "Access denied for user

  I have the whole setup working for months on my local computer. I'm installing on a remote site now. Created a fresh mysql DB, and created a new user ("someuser") and gave it complete grants, like so - GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON . TO 'someuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'somepassword' WITH GRANT OPTION; I have sync'd the db, using "python manage.py syncdb" and the correct tables were created. My settings.py has this same user. But when I try to login a user through the application, and it hits the DB, I see the following in the logs - (1045, "Access denied for user 'someuser'@'localhost' (using password: YES)") I logged in through mysql (installed on the same box as django) and checked the grants and it correctly shows - Grants for djangouser@localhost GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON * . * TO 'someuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD '*thesaltedpasswordOverHere' WITH GRANT OPTION I don't want to use the root user/password for django, since it doesn't seem the correct way. Any pointers as to what might be wrong ?

• Using svn with xampp for php projects

  I have heard a lot about version control and would like to work on it. I read some tutorials about the same. However i am not quite sure how svn works with xampp. I have installed svn, Tortoise svn and made the necessary changes in xampp. For instance i copied the two required modules to c:/xampp/apache/modules and also made changes to the conf file in apache. Here are the changes made in c:/xampp/apache/conf/httpd.conf. # Configure Subversion repository <Location /svn> DAV svn SVNPath “C:\svn” AuthType Basic AuthName “Subversion repository” AuthUserFile “c:\svn_conf\passwd” Require valid-user </Location>t I created the repository at c:/svn and also created the password file. However when i visit http:/localhost/svn i get a 404 page not found error. Where am i going wrong. what am i missing.? Any pointers?? Thanks in advance.

The server I'm talking to sets a cookie using javascript (rather than standard set-cookie), so Mechanize doesn't catch the cookie. I need to pass that cookie back on the next GET request.   Does any one know how I would have to change the following to work with ms sql? WHERE registrationDate between to_date ('2003/01/01', 'yyyy/mm/dd') AND to_date ('2003/12/31', 'yyyy/mm/dd'); What I have read implies I would have to construct it using DATEPART() which could become very long winded. Especially when the goal would be to compare on dates which I receive in the following format "2003-12-30 10:07:42". It would be nice to pass them off to the database as is. • Add UIView Above All Other Views, Including StatusBar

  I'm wanting to create a view (UIControl) which blocks all input and shows a UIActivityIndicatorView while authenticating a user. The UIActionSheet and UIAlertView both manage to add a black semi-transparent view over the top of all other views to block input and I'd like to do similar. I've tried adding my view to the top UIWindow in the [[UIApplication sharedApplication] windows] array, and while this does place it above the UIKeyboard if it's visible, it doesn't place it over the StatusBar (which makes sense). My next attempt was to extend UIAlertView, remove all of its subviews and set its layer.contents = nil, then add the ActivityIndicator as a subview. This works well, but I can't seem to kill the default bouncy transition of the UIAlertView when you call it to "show". Does anyone have any pointers towards the best way tackle this problem that gives me full control? Oh and I know blocking input is not great but I do ensure it's for a short period of time and it has the benefit of making it clear to the user that their action, which must complete for them to progress, is processing.

  Hi, I'm looking for a "roller toggle" in jquery (ideally using a plugin). If I have the following HTML: <ul> <li>Option 1</li> <li>Option 2</li> <li>Option 3</li> </ul> I would like the first option to be displayed and the others hidden. Each time I "tap/click" on an option it displays the next and loops around to the first one after the last one. When used on a mobile web device I'd like it respond to swipe up/down events and appear like a "roller" (i.e. using a slide up/down effect). Too much to ask? Hopefully not, any pointers appreciated.   Hi, I want to display a table and a image side by side. i.e Left side the image and right side the table. I want this because the image is the reference image for the data present in the table. I want that output in pdf. So I am using QTextDocument, QTextCursor and QPrinter to get the output in pdf. So how it is possible to display the image and table in QtextDocument i.e within a single page of the pdf? I am using Qt 4.5.3 and Windows Xp. Any pointers regarding this are welcome.

• My object becomes NSCFArray when running on iPhone

  I'm really scratching my head on this one: I have an object (MyObject) which I instantiate, and this object has an NSArray member variable. The following simple code working in the sim: MyObject *myObj = [[MyObject alloc] init]; NSArray *arr = [myObj myMemberArray]; When I hover over myObj in XCode the tooltip reads "MyObject". Good! But when I debug it on the device (OS 3.1.3) I get: "[NSCFArray myMemberArray]: unrecognized selector sent to instance ... " When I hover over myObj, sure enough it reads "NSCFArray". Can anyone give me some pointers on where to go next with this? Thanks.

• Recommended way to manage persistent PHP script processes?

  First off - hello, this is my first Stack Overflow question so I'll try my best to communicate properly. The title of my question may be a bit ambiguous so let me expand upon it immediately: I'm planning a project which involves taking data inputs from several "streaming" APIs, Twitter being one example. I've got a basic script coded up in PHP which runs indefinitely from the command line, taking input from the Twitter streaming API and doing very basic things with it. My eventual objective is to have several such processes running (perhaps daemonized using the System Daemon PEAR class), and I would like to be able to manage them from some governing process (also a PHP script). By manage I mean basic operations such as stop/start and (most crucially) automatically restarting a process that crashes. I would appreciate any pointers on how best to approach this process management angle. Again, apologies if this question is too expansive - tips on more tightly focused lines of enquiry would be appreciated if necessary. Thanks for reading and I look forward to your answers.

In more detail, I am interested in using Mono from project start on a Linux host developing in C# using Visual Studio for development, ideally with remote debugging if that is realistic developing web-services in MONO accessible in a RESTful manner, returning JSON hiding the services processes behind an Apache access the services either via javascript/AJAX or from a thin script layer written in PHP scalability is important for me unit-testing of webservices Any recommendations for material I could sift through to get a good head-start? I might add that I'm C#/.NET savvy, but not in the context of web development. I've been using it since it came out, but mainly for internal server-client applications where the clients were Windows desktop apps and the communication layer was remoting or, sometimes, more low-level socket-based.
