• Facebook status.get API throws 500 HTTP status code

  I have an APP that calls Facebook status.get method via the REST server - restserver.php using session key method. This app works fine for most of the users, but for one user I consistently receive HTTP 500 status code. Since this doesn't have any specific Facebook error message, it is almost impossible for me to debug this. Anyone faced a similar problem? What could be wrong with this user account? I checked the privacy options that I could think of and they look fine. Also, for the same user, I can use friends.get method without any problem. EDIT: I tried in Facebook forums as well, but it was of no use. Any pointers in the direction towards debugging/troubleshooting this problem are also appreciated.

• Google Toolbox For Mac with Core Data on iPhone results in error

  I have set up my project for using Google Toolbox for Mac as described on official wiki. And everything is working as expected. For core data usage I have created a 'database' class that uses for final application SQLite storage (this is done based on Xcode template code). For unit tests I have created separate init method for 'database' to use in memory storage (storage url is [NSURL URLWithString:@"memory://store"] and type NSInMemoryStoreType). Without adding my model file (*.xcdatamodel) to unit tests target, test fail in expected place with message: executeFetchRequest:error: A fetch request must have an entity. If I add model file to the test target, then test is executed as expected (core data part looks OK), but after tests execution I get: RunIPhoneUnitTest.sh: line 123: 9487 Segmentation fault "$TARGET_BUILD_DIR/$EXECUTABLE_PATH" -RegisterForSystemEvents Command /bin/sh failed with exit code 139 This problem does not looks directly related to core data, but only happens if model file is added to target. Any pointers on resolving this issue would be appreciated!

• Changing API level Android Studio

  I want to change the minimum SDK version in Android Studio from API 12 to API 14. I have tried changing it in the manifest file, i.e., <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="14" android:targetSdkVersion="18" /> and rebuilding the project, but I still get the Android Studio IDE throwing up some errors. I presume I have to set the min SDK in 'project properties' or something similar so the IDE recognises the change, but I can't find where this is done in Android Studio. Pointers greatly appreciated.   How do I get around Inconsistant accessibilty error in C # ? I need to pass a pointer to a node in a linked list to a method. When I do, I get a "Compiler Error CS0051" Example The following sample generates CS0051: Copy Code // CS0051.cs public class A { // Try making B public since F is public // B is implicitly private here class B { } public static void F(B b) // CS0051 { } public static void Main() { } } That is a simple example. The actual program is a bit more complicated. I am actually using a node in a linked list to pass to the method LinkedListNode node The method uses recursion because the node is mart of a huge linked list structure of linked lists that outputs an xml file. Either I have to find a way to use recursion without using methods or I need to find a way to pass pointers nodes or actual nodes.

I am also writing the LogWriter module. In this caase i am mapping the whole file to the memory using mmap(). I am maintaining the Read and Write pointers.I want to write the log to the file in append mode. Then when logger service is started first time it writes it appends the logs. But when system gets shutdown next time when i run the service it doesn't append the data at the end. I want to maintain the write and read offsets even if system shut down.How to achieve this ..? How to find the how much data is written to the log file. ??

• Bitbanging a PIO on Coldfire/ucLinux

  Here's the problem: I need to program some hardware via 2 pins of the PIO (1 clock, 1 data). Timing constraints are tight - 10ms clock cycle time. All this, of course, whilst I maintain very high level services (CAN bus, TCP/IP). The downstream unit also ACKS by asserting a PIO pin, configured as an input, high. So this loop has to both read and write. I need to send 16 bits in the serial stream. Is there an established way to do this sort of thing or should I simply get the hardware guys to add a PIC or somesuch. I'd much prefer to avoid exotics like RTAI extensions at this stage. I did once see a reference to user-mode IO which implied a possible interrupt driven driver but lost track of it. Any pointers welcomed.

• iPhone Text entry with completion and DONE button (not search)

  Using iPhone SDK 3.0, I wish to allow text entry with (optional) completion options that appear as typing is occurring, i.e. also allowing freeformat entry. As such I am using a UISearchBar (which has the text change events) and a UISearchDisplayController to present options. The problems is I want the DONE button to say DONE and not SEARCH, however I cannot find a way to set that. Clearly I feel I am missing something, or Interface Builder of the SDK API would have some property to set. I have seen other apps (in the store) that have achieved the result I want (free format entry, completion, DONE button) so maybe there is an alternative approach I am missing. • SQLite as an App Queue, Exclusive Row Lock?

  I am considering using SQLite as a "job queue container", and was wondering how I could do so, using custom C# (with ADO.NET) to work the database. If this was SQL Server, I would setup a serializable transaction to make sure the parent row and child rows were exclusively mine until I was done. I'm not sure how that would work in SQLite, can anyone offer any assistance? Or if there are any other existing implementations of message queueing with SQLite, I'd appreciate any pointers in that direction as well. Thanks!

• Is it possible to resize a SpriteAsset without adding it to the display list?

  Hi guys, I have an embedded image asset (with a scale9 grid), and I'm trying to get the bitmapdata when it's resized, but I can't seem to do this without adding it to the display list. I try this: spriteAsset.setActualSize(w,h); spriteAsset.width = w; bmd.draw(spriteAsset); But when I then draw out the bitmapdata with graphics.beginBitmapFill(), I just get the original un-stretched image. Any pointers? Or do I need to take 9 separate BitmapData images and make 9 separate bitmap fills? Cheers, -Josh

• Why is a fixed size buffers (arrays) must be unsafe?

  Let's say I want to have a value type of 7 bytes (or 3 or 777). I can define it like that: public struct Buffer71 { public byte b0; public byte b1; public byte b2; public byte b3; public byte b4; public byte b5; public byte b6; } A simpler way to define it is using a fixed buffer public struct Buffer72 { public unsafe fixed byte bs[7]; } Of course the second definition is simpler. The problem lies with the unsafe keyword that must be provided for fixed buffers. I understand that this is implemented using pointers and hence unsafe. My question is why does it have to be unsafe? Why can't C# provide arbitrary constant length arrays and keep them as a value type instead of making it a C# reference type array or unsafe buffers?

  Hi, To make things easier, the table contains all the words in the English dictionary. What I would like to do is be able to store the data as a trie. This way I can traverse the different branches of the trie and return the most relevant result. First, how do I store the data in the table as a trie? Second, how do I traverse the tree? If it helps at all, the suggestion in this previous question is where this question was sparked from. Please make sure it's SQL we're talking about. I understood the Mike Dunlavey's C implementation because of pointers but can't see how this part (The trie itself) works in SQL. Thanks, Matt

  I'm trying to build a basic shopping cart for a Rails app I'm working on. Nothing special, - the shopping cart has many line_items - each line_item has_one product associated and a quantity with it class Cart < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :line_items has_many :line_items, :dependent => :destroy end class LineItem < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :quantity, :product belongs_to :cart has_one :product end I'm trying to use RSpec to test this association, but i'm doing something wrong as I'm getting an error that says: DEPRECATION WARNING: You're trying to create an attribute 'line_item_id'. Writing arbitrary attributes on a model is deprecated, and I'm not sure why. In my factories.rb file I'm defining the line_item factory as follows: factory :line_item do quantity { Random.rand(1..5) } product end factory :cart do factory :cart_with_two_line_items do ignore do line_item_count 2 end after(:create) do |cart, evaluator| FactoryGirl.create_list(:line_item, evaluator.line_item_count, cart_id: cart) end end end Any pointers where I'm going wrong, it's probably something basic, but I'm still quite new to Rspec. • C#, WPF. Length of string that will fit in a specific width.

  Hi, I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, I have an area in which I intend to draw text. I know its (the area) height and width. I wish to know how many characters/Words will fit in the width, characters preferably. Second question, If the line is too long I'll want to draw a second line, so I guess I need to get the height of the text as well, including what ever it considers the right vertical padding? I'd also rather like to know the inverse, i.e. how many characters I can fit in a specific width. I assume the fact that WPF isn't constrained to pixels will have some bearing on the answer? Ultimately I'm planning on wrapping text around irregular shaped images embedded in the text. Any pointers in the right direction would be great. Thanks

  Hi, I've successfully used jquery autocomplete to display a list of matching images based on user input. The user experience isn't great though due to the number of potential matches - even with fairly prescriptive input. I've found this example at nokia http://www.nokia.co.uk/support/download-software/device-software-update (I know it's written in flash) which would provide the ideal interface for what I'm trying to achieve. Does anyone have any pointers for doing this using jquery autocomplete as a starting point? Or better still know of an existing javascript library that provides this functionality?   Hi, We have a web based client-server product. The client is expected to be used in the upwards of 1M users (a famous company is going to use it). Our server is set up in the cloud. One of the major questions while designing is how to make the whole program future proof. Say: Cloud provider goes down, then move automatically to backup in another cloud Move to a different server altogether etc The options we thought till now are: DNS: Running a DNS name server on the cloud ourselves. Directory server - The directory server also lives on the cloud Have our server returning future movements and future URLs etc to the client - wherein the client is specifically designed to handle those scenarios Since this should be a usual problem, which is the best solution for the same? Since our company is a very small one, we are looking at the least technically and financially expensive solution (say option 3 etc)? Could someone provide some pointers for the same? K

  Hi guys, Know this might be rather basic, but I been trying to figure out how to one after create a dynamic array such as double* data = new double[size]; be used as a source of data to be kept in to a binary file such as ofstream fs("data.bin",ios:binary"); fs.write(reinterpret_cast<const char *> (data),size*sizeof(double)); When I finish writing, I attempt to read the file through double* data = new double[size]; ifstream fs("data.bin",ios:binary"); fs.read(reinterpret_cast<char*> (data),size*sizeof(double)); However I seem to encounter a run time error when reading the data. Do you guys have any advice how i should attempt to write a dynamic array using pointers passed from other methods to be stored in binary files?

• iPhone - Get a pointer to the data behind CGDataProvider?

  I'm trying to take a CGImage and copy its data into a buffer for later processing. The code below is what I have so far, but there's one thing I don't like about it - it's copying the image data twice. Once for CGDataProviderCopyData() and once for the :getBytes:length call on imgData. I haven't been able to find a way to copy the image data directly into my buffer and cut out the CGDataProviderCopyData() step, but there has to be a way...any pointers? • Tokenizer for full-text

  This should be an ideal case of not re-inventing the wheel, but so far my search has been in vain. Instead of writing one myself, I would like to use an existing C++ tokenizer. The tokens are to be used in an index for full text searching. Performance is very important, I will parse many gigabytes of text. Edit: Please note that the tokens are to be used in a search index. Creating such tokens is not an exact science (afaik) and requires some heuristics. This has been done a thousand time before, and probably in a thousand different ways, but I can't even find one of them :) Any good pointers? Thanks!

• Enable intellisense for imported tlb in VC++ 6

  We have a library for a complex COM object that we are importing using the following: #import "library.tlb" this works fine, VC++ compiles a tli file and somehow that gets magically included in the build process, so code written against the tlb works. However, intellisense doesn't pick up the library entries. This is a crazy complex COM component, and having intellisense would help immensely. Can anyone provide some pointers on how to get intellisense to work properly with this? I have tried deleting the .ncb file, and that had no effect.

  A trigger in an Oracle 10g generates upsert and delete messages for a subset of rows in a regular table. These messages consist out of two fields: A unique row id. A non-unique id. When consuming these message I want to impose an order on the deque process that respects the following constraints: Messages must be dequeued in insertion order. Messages belonging to the same id must be dequeued in such a fashion that no other dequeuing process should be able to dequeue a potential successor message (or messages) with this id. Since the messages are generated using a trigger I cannot use groups for this purpose. I am using the Oracle Java interface for AQ. Any pointers on how that could be achieved?

The documentation of Red5 is limited and cannot find any support at all! Even similar questions to mine are unanswered on stackoverflow :( My questions are: Why can't I simply place an .mp3 inside red5's server root and play it? To serve a simple MP3 file over RTMP. • Unit testing "hybrid" WPF/Silverlight controls

  I'm starting a new WPF/Silverlight custom control project and wanted to do unit testing on this one. However I'm a little confused about how to approach this. This control would be based on the same codebase for both WPF and Silverlight with minor forking using #ifs and partial classes to tame the differences. I guess I could write unit tests for WPF part with NUnit, MSTest, xUnit, etc. and for the Silverlight part with Silverlight Unit Test Framework but this doesn't sound very elegant to me. I'd have to either ignore testing identical code on one of the platforms and test only differing parts (which is not very trustworthy) or rewrite tests for 2 frameworks (which is annoying). Is this the right way to go? I'm wondering if there's some guidance, articles, tutorials out there on how to approach this task. Any pointers?

• Capture DDE Data that is being streamed in to a software

  Hello, I have a trading software that gets data from the internet. I want to capture that tick data. There is one software that has been made by a local develop which is able to do that and it looks like it uses DDE (NDde.dll, NetSQL.dll). I want to write a custom application that does the same. Any pointers how I can check how the data is being streamed and how to capture that data. I don't think it is encrypted, since the other developer would not have been able to decrypt either. I just need to scan how the software is getting the data. Thank you.
