• How to optimally configure memcache running on 16 cores 144G ram server?

  Memcache is the only important app running on the server Server has 16 cores and 144G RAM Memcache is given 135G Memcache runs at 32 threads Gigabit network, test shows at least 300Mbit/s availability on network port 600 connections 3000 requests per second Say that memcache (memory) usage is at 50% - it's definitely not full As we increase number of requests towards server, requests slow down (from 8ms to 100ms per request) but server load remains 0.00. We suspect this can be solved by adjusting configuration but we don't understand many of the configuration parameters (besides, maybe, the number of threads). Any ideas?

  I have a WRT160NL router (192.168.1.0/24 - OpenWrt 10.04) as AP. It's: - WAN port: connected to the ISP - WLAN: working as an AP, using 64 bit WEP/SSID: "MYWORKINGSSID", channel 5, using password: "MYPASSWORDHERE" - It's IP Address is: 192.168.1.1 Ok! It's working great! But: I have a TL-WR1043ND router that I want to configure as a "WDS". (My purpose is to extend the wireless range of the original WRT160NL.) Here is how I configure the TL-WR1043ND: 1) I enable WDS bridging. 2) In the "Survey" I select my already working network. 3) I set up the encryption (exact same like the already working one) 4) I choose channel 5 5) I type the SSID 6) I disable the DHCP server on it. After I reboot the router and connect to this router (TL-WR1043ND) over wireless I'm trying to ping google.com. From the ping I see that I can reach this router, that's ok, but it seems like that this router can't connect to the original one, the WRT160NL (so I don't get ping reply from Google). The encryption settings/password is good I checked it many-many-many times. what could be the problem? I'm thinking it could be a routing problem, but what should I add to the "Static Routing" menu? I tried to change the IP address of the TL-WR1043ND to: 192.168.1.2 So if this a routing issue then I should add a static routing rule that says: If destination: any then forward the packet to 192.168.1.1 p.s.: I updated the Firmware to the latest version. It's still the same. p.s.2: The HW version of the TL-WR1043ND is 1.8 p.s.3: Could that be the problem that I use different routers? (If I would buy.. another TL-WR1043ND and use it instead of the WRT160NL, and with normal Firmware, not OpenWrt, then it would work?? The "WDS" is different on different routers?) p.s.4: I will try to check the router logs@night - and paste it here! :\

• Internet connection very slow after Linksys configuration

  Hello We have this network setup Server1 - DHCP server, Domain Controller, AD Lease line for Internet connection From lease line to Linksys router (we dont use wireless though) From linksys to Netgear (24 port Switch) and vonage (VoIP) Netgear to all our machines We configured Linsys with the static IP and DNS server addresses our ISP gave and we have routed it correctly. All our work machines are configured with Get IP automatically DNS server addresses our ISP gave The problem is that none of the sites are getting opened promptly. It is taking around 5 minutes to load google.com. But we are able to ping all the sites. What could be the problem?

  We are trying to set up remote access to a computer that houses a server fro a particular program we are running. The program says we need to configure the office router. In the firewall settings it says to open ports 5345-5351 (TCP only). Port Forwarding: You will also need to forward the same range of ports (5345-5351) to the computer running the Server. This typically requires that the computer running the Server be assigned a static IP on the local network. Having trouble figuring out which IP address we actually need to be using on the client side of this program in order to access the server computer. Can someone walk through this process?? We are working on Mac OSX 10.5. Thank you in advance!

• Can I share my cable internet connection through my ADSL wireless router?

  Hi All Over the xmas period I am at my in-laws. They have Virgin Broadband (cable) and have a basic modem / router that is plugged directly into their computer using an ethernet cable. My wife and I arrived with 5 PCs! (ok, one is a gift and won't be used) 4 of which are laptops so I would like to be able to use their internet connection. At the moment I am working so have plugged the ethernet cable into my work laptop. Rebooting the router meant that my work laptop now has internet. I have my ADSL Netgear router which is wireless. I tried plugging it in between the router and the PC but I didn't seem to be able to share the internet connection wirelessly. The original PC still had internet despite ony being connected to my router but my wireless laptop didn't have a connection. My old cable router had an internet ethernet port on the back that the modem plugged into. My ADSL router doesn't, it has a phone connection socket. Is there a way of doing what I want with the equipment I have? Thanks

• why this routing configuration does not work?

  I have 2 VMs in HyperV role: first is RRAS - it has 2 interfaces (both manually configured, no DHCP): 192.168.1.110 - "external" one, connected to the router 192.168.10.2 - that's internal interface which other VMs will be using as well also I added VPN connection to our main server - and it gets 192.168.2.136 IP address in 192.168.2.XXX network. And IP route is create on the server as well for this interface. second VM is called KITCHENER. It only has 1 interface 192.168.10.99 / 255.255.255.0, with default gateway set to RRAS server - 192.168.10.2 QUESTION: how can I ping "main server" - 192.168.2.1 - from the KITCHENER server when RRAS server is connected to VPN? please see screenshots with ipconfig /all, route print and ping 192.168.2.1 commands. What needs to be done to get this working? all servers are Windows 2008 R2 if that matters.

• Superscope DHCP leases and configuration set up

  Hello I wanted to see if someone could help with a network problem I am having. Right now we have a super-scope and scopes of 192.168.50.1 and 192.168.51.1, as of now both are activated but only 192.168.50.1 is handing our leases, 192.168.51 wont. here is a summary of our network Gateway: watchguard firebox x750e for our router/gateway at 192.168.50.1 I set up as a secondary IP address 192.168.51.1 Server: Server 2008 r2 standard, running our DNS @ 192.168.50.242 and 8.8.8.8 as a secondary, AD, and DHCP. On that NIC card i have 192.168.50.242 as the IP address and 192.168.51.242 as a secondary. 192.168.50.1 as the default gateway and 192.168.51.1 as a secondary. Im am not very knowledgeable at this but as far as i have researched after adding a super scope and activating scopes, they should automatically start handing out addresses and I cant figure out why only one does. any help at all would be appreciated.

  How can I allow incoming connections on a Windows 7 machine that is connected to VPN? I have some services listening on certain ports that I have forwarded from my router. When the VPN is disconnected, I can connect to these services from my internal network as well as from the Internet without issue. When I connect my VPN however, I am still able to access the ports from my internal network, but not remotely. I think I need a split tunnel setup, and there is an option in the VPN settings to Use Default Gateway on remote network. I want this option enabled so all my traffic is routed through the VPN, but I want incoming connections to be allowed on my internal network IP from the Internet. Is there some hybrid way to set this up with routing?

This should work as follows: Each home has a private LAN (e.g. 192.168.0.x) and an ADSL router for Internet access. Private LANs from each home should not "see" each other.   I'm trying to persist user settings to a configuration file using ConfigurationManager. I want to scope these settings to the user only, because application changes can't be saved on Vista/Win 7 without admin privileges. This seems to get me the user's configuration, which appears to be saved here in Win 7 ([Drive]:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\[ApplicationName]\[AssemblyName][hash]\[Version\) Configuration config = ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(ConfigurationUserLevel.PerUserRoamingAndLocal); Whenever I try to save any changes at all to this config I get this exception: InnerException: System.InvalidOperationException Message="ConfigurationSection properties cannot be edited when locked." Source="System.Configuration" StackTrace: at System.Configuration.SectionInformation.VerifyIsEditable() at System.Configuration.MgmtConfigurationRecord.GetConfigDefinitionUpdates(Boolean requireUpdates, ConfigurationSaveMode saveMode, Boolean forceSaveAll, ConfigDefinitionUpdates& definitionUpdates, ArrayList& configSourceUpdates) I have tried adding a custom ConfigurationSection to this config. I have tried adding to the AppSettingsSection. Whenever I call config.Save() it throws the exception above. Any ideas? I tried using the ApplicationSettingsBase class through the Project-Settings designer, but it doesn't appear that you can save custom types with this. I want similar functionality with the ability to save custom types. Thanks.

  After adding the line to /etc/haproxy/haproxy.cfg as part of creating a transparent proxy, source 0.0.0.0 usesrc clientip restarting haproxy starts giving an error ~# service haproxy reload * Reloading haproxy haproxy [ALERT] 230/153724 (1140) : [/usr/sbin/haproxy.main()] Some configuration options require full privileges, so global.uid cannot be changed. I'm already running service haproxy reload as root. What else do we have to do? Thank you!

  I'm running an application server behind an Apache proxy with the following sort of thing in my Apache config: ProxyPass /app http://myapplication:8080/myapp ProxyPassReverse /app http://myapplication:8080/myapp When I switch on NTLM authentication (using mod_ntlm) the authentication fails (it works fine when bypassing the proxy). A quick search reveals lots of issues when running NTLM behind a proxy due to the connection-specific NTLM specification.
