    When I calculate in Java an SHA-256 of a string with the following method I get : 5e884898da2847151d0e56f8dc6292773603dd6aabbdd62a11ef721d1542d8 on the commandline I do : echo "password" | sha256sum and get 5e884898da28047151d0e56f8dc6292773603d0d6aabbdd62a11ef721d1542d8 if we compare these more closely I find 2 subtle differences 5e884898da2847151d0e56f8dc6292773603dd6aabbdd62a11ef721d1542d8 5e884898da28047151d0e56f8dc6292773603d0d6aabbdd62a11ef721d1542d8 or : 5e884898da28 47151d0e56f8dc6292773603d d6aabbdd62a11ef721d1542d8 5e884898da28 0 47151d0e56f8dc6292773603d 0 d6aabbdd62a11ef721d1542d8 Which of the 2 is correct here?

  • Is there a tool I can use to generate interfaces and wrappers for object mocking in c#

    Given a class like System.Timers.Timer, or ANY managed class (whether user defined, from the .net framework, or some 3rd party library) is there some program I can use to (a) generate an interface based on this class and (b) generate a wrapper for the given class? for example if I have a public class Foo { public object MyProperty { get { ... } set { ... } } public int SomeMethod(object a) { ... } } it will create an interface interface IFoo { object MyProperty { get; set; } int SomeMethod(object a) { ... } } and maybe even a wrapper class FooWrap { // something for relay constructor here ... Foo _me; public object MyProperty { get { return _me.MyProperty; } set { _me.MyProperty = value; } } public int SomeMethod(object a) { return _me.SomeMethod(); } } Obviously there's stuff I haven't thought about like events, generics etc. I want a DWIMNWIS-PSICHTO(-Plus-Stuff-I-Clearly-Haven't-Thought-Of). I'm aware resharper can be used to extract an interface but I've only been able to use this on my own classes. Aside: Wow, it is amazing how simply becoming accustomed to a previously 'unacceptable' idea eventually gives it legitimacy. A year ago the idea of having to create interfaces for all objects I want to mock and adopting an injection framework would have seemed like the height of madness. It turns out that while it's not quite death and taxes, it is sparta. I am aware of and have used typemock. It certainly is the work of elvish wizards. One day when $800 does not seem like quite so much money I intend to buy it.

  • Is there a tool to navigate targets and properties 's definition?

    I'm working on a bundle of MSBuild script files and many many times I have the need of locating the definition of a called target or a property being used. At the moment, I have to search to the target/property 's name text and view the file containing that text - only then I can read the definition of the target/property I'm looking for. This remind me of the feature of class/variable navigation of Visual Studio: we can choose "Go to definition" or "Find references" when select a class name or a variable. Is there a similar way to work with MSBuild target/property/item? Hope to hear from all of you! Nam.

  • Is there a tool that can refactor this C code correctly?

    Lets say I have the following code (the array* function are what we use for resizable arrays and they operate on pointers-to-arrays that are null initialized): typedef struct MyStruct { int i; } MyStruct; MyStruct* GetNewMyStruct(int i) { MyStruct* s = malloc(sizeof(MyStruct)); s->i = i; return s; } int SomeFunction(int number, MyStruct *elem) { MyStruct **structs = NULL; int i; for (i = 0; i < number; i++) arrayPush(&structs, GetNewMyStruct(i)); arrayPush(&structs, elem); return arraySize(&structs); } I decide that SomeFunction is too large and I want refactor it. Currently where I work we use VisualAssist X, which has some refactoring capabilities, but when I use it on this it does not work correctly. If I attempt to use it to refactor out the loop, this is what I get: void MyMethod( int number, MyStruct ** structs ) { int i; for (i = 0; i < number; i++) arrayPush(&structs, GetNewMyStruct(i)); } int SomeFunction(int number, MyStruct *elem) { MyStruct **structs = NULL; MyMethod(number, structs); arrrayPush(&structs, elem); return arraySize(&structs); } This is not correct. MyMethod should take a MyStruct ***, not a MyStruct **. This is because the code I'm refactoring takes the address of structs. The result is that the refactored version will always return 1 (since only one object has been pushed into my array) rather than number+1. Are there other tools out there that do this type of refactoring correctly?

    Hi, I need to create some reports, in different formats (xls, pdf, rtf). I am currently using JasperReports, in conjunction with IReport. I have no major complaints about it (except for the cases when IReport messes up my xml files), but i've been having some problems with it, when exporting to xls files and with some "special" characters, such as '&'. Is there a widely use alternative? Is JasperReports the right choice?

    I just finished reinstalling the "All-In-One Eclipse PDT" from zend.com. It's unable to debug even the simplest "Hello World" PHP script. How can such a major open-source app be released in such a bad shape? What am I doing wrong?     Our centralized IT department has suggested two primary ad hoc query tools for our general user base of approximately 200 staff members: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008 (SSMS) Microsoft Access 2003 Environment The backend database is a read-only Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database. The schema is 400+ tables; allowing access to the raw data for our general staff would be a disaster. We will be building an "abstraction layer" over the raw data for our general staff to run ad hoc queries against. The abstraction layer will most likely contain a number of views. A number of users have basic knowledge in Microsoft Access; none have used SSMS. Which of the above tools (or alternative) would be best for a decidedly non-techie user base of approximately 200 people? What are the pros and cons of each? Also, the IT department has suggested teaching people T-SQL so they may use SSMS. Is this reasonable?

    I'm a programmer. I want to be a better programmer. I want to read more source code written by other people (especially open source projects). Also, I'd like to be able to have a on-hand searchable reference to all of that source code so that I can pull up reference to structures and snippets. Does anyone know of a way to use the Kindle for this? Has anyone tried? What were your findings? Additionally, does anyone know of a website that indexes all open source source code?

  • Which JavaScript or ASP.NET Charting Component/Tool/Library Will Work For This?

Hi, An interaction designer employed by the client I am currently working for produced some mock-ups, and now it is my job to determine the best way of implementing the charts included therein. After looking at the options I am aware of and was able to find doing some simple Google searches, I have narrowed it down to using either ComponentArt, Dundas Charts or Infragistics, simply because from what I can see of their demos, they have certain features I believe I will need to get things done. Here are the pictures from the mock-ups - ideally I need one piece of software that will cover all of these: This chart seems to be simple enough. Notice the arbitrary spacing between the years - not yet sure if this will be a sticking-point for the client or not. I don't know that I have ever seen a chart like this one - it combines the previous chart with some additional data. Here is the same chart, only this time illustrating what happens when a user mouses-over or clicks on an annotation within the chart. They want the nice styling within the pop-up, so the pop-up needs to be something like an iframe or similar. Any ideas or recommendations would be appreciated, I haven't used charting controls in years, so I am at a bit of a loss and the client wants an estimate soon. Thank you!

  • Any good GUI tool to easily create stored procs SQL server 2008 ?

    The templates for stored-procs in SSMS do not auto-populate all input columns, again there is manual work involved. I am looking for something like right-click on table and say CREATE stored-proc, and then it allows to pick a template, based on which it can populate the parameters etc. and give check-box in GUI (like table designer, you can easily add/remove a column). Some support for change management with table undergoing alter or otherwise would also be helpful. Currently we manually write all stored-procs, which i think we should be able to save time and labor with automation. Any suggestion on other free 3rd party tools ?

  • Is there a better tool than postcat for viewing postfix mail queue files?

    So I got a call early this morning about a client needing to see what email they have waiting to be delivered sitting in our secondary mail server. Their link for the main server had (still is) been down for two days and they needed to see their email. So I wrote up a quick Perl script to use mailq in combination with postcat to dump each email for their address into separate files, tar'd it up and sent it off. Horrible code, I know, but it was urgent. My solution works OK in that it at least gives a raw view, but I thought tonight it would be nice if I had a solution where I could provide their email attachments and maybe remove some "garbage" header text as well. Most of the important emails seem to have a PDF or similar attached. I've been looking around but the only method of viewing queue files I can see is the postcat command, and I really don't want to write my own parser - so I was wondering if any of you have already done so, or know of a better command to use?   • What's the right tool for this job in Google Spreadsheets?

    Is it possible to nest simple programs within a Google doc spreadsheet, similar to how you would w/Basic in Excel? Or alternatively a simple = syntax using regex, if there is a way to do that in google docs? I want to take a list of multiple names(name1, name2, name3) in a single cell from across multiple identical sheets and transpose them to another sheet within the same spreadsheet, check for duplicates and ignore capitals, etc. Is there a way to do this?

  • What are the lengths/limits C preprocessor as a language creation tool? Where can I learn more about

    In his FAQ @ http://www2.research.att.com/~bs/bs_faq.html#bootstrapping, Bjarne Stroustrup says: To build [Cfront, the first C++ compiler], I first used C to write a "C with Classes"-to-C preprocessor. "C with Classes" was a C dialect that became the immediate ancestor to C++... I then wrote the first version of Cfront in "C with Classes". When I read this, it piqued my interest in the C preprocessor. I'd seen its macro capabilities as suitable for simplifying common expressions but hadn't thought about its ability to significantly add to syntax and semantics on the level that I imagine bringing classes to C took. So now I have a couple of questions on my mind: 1) Are there other examples of this approach to bootstrapping a language off of C? 2) Is the source to Stroustrup's original work available anywhere? 3) Where could I learn more about the specifics of utilizing this technique? 4) What are the lengths/limits of that approach? Could one, say, create a set of preprocessor macros that let someone write in something significantly Lisp/Scheme like?
