• How do I automate navigation to a website that requires authentication?

  Here's what I'm trying to achieve. I would like to write a script that will navigate to a website that requires me to be authenticated as myself, say Facebook, Live Spaces, Twitter or any other, and then have that script search for certain information on one of the pages of the website. I've done something similar in the past with the Windows.Forms WebBrowser control, which is a full blown implementation of IE that can be controlled through code and will store whatever cookies you get once you're authenticated, but it was very unfriendly to modify and I was hoping to use a scripting language instead, maybe Powershell or something of that sort. Are there maybe some good tutorials about this out there on the web? Thanks!

• javaEE application layout

  I've been tasked with writing a new webapp in javaEE, which will be a first for me. I'm familar with the java language, but all of my previous projects have been in .net. So I've downloaded netbeans and I'll probably be using Hibernate, and started digging in. My question is, what's the best way to lay out a javaEE app? Should all data access go through netbeans? I was told to use webservices as much as possible so it's easy to pull data in and out of the system, and I've read through tutorials that create webservices in a seperate web application, as compared to the javaEE enterprise application. Is that really the way it's supposed to work? Just trying to wrap my head around this as compared to what I'm used to in .net. Thanks!

• JQuery AJAX is not sending UTF-8 to my server, only in IE.

  I am sending UTF-8, japanese text, to my server. It works in Firefox. My access.log and headers are: /ajax/?q=%E6%BC%A2%E5%AD%97 Accept-Charset ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Content-Type application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8 Howeer, in IE8, my access.log says: /ajax/?q=?? For some reason, IE8 is turning my AJAX call into question marks. Why!? I added the scriptCharset and ContentType according to some tutorials, but still no luck.   I've been asked to do the front end for a web app, and to use ExtJS specifically. I've been working through a couple of tutorials, but I've not seen much variation on the default ExtJS look and feel except for some subtle changes to the colors and what not. The design I've been handed seems to be a radical departure from the standard ExtJs look and feel. So before I head down a dead end or start chasing wild geese, I wondered wether any ExtJS experts out there could point out any potential pit falls in the design, or is everything do-able?   I am trying to trying to export a client certificate for use with a web browser. The goal is to restrict access using the <Location directive to the admin area. I have seen numerous tutorials on using self signed CAs. How would you do this using a third party? 1) Do I need to include the CA in the client pfx if it is a trusted root CA? I have seen both examples. • Sync Framework,LINQ, and my DAL

  I am creating a WPF app that needs to allow users to work in a temporary disconnected state and I plan to use a Local Database Cache. My question's are about my data access layer. Do you typically create the whole DAL to point at the Cache or both and create a switching mechanism? Is Entity's a good way to go for my DAL against the Cache? I am used to L2S but my understanding is that I can't use that against SQLCE, correct? Thanks! PS: Any good resources out there for using Sync, Linq, and WPF ALL TOGETHER? Tutorials, videos, etc?

  Hi, I have problem with implementing Rich Text Editor (all that i tried, e.g. TinyMCE). I tried many tutorials and articles but all same. When i am trying do it the best what i get is working editor in IE (8) but other browser not (Opera, FF, Chrome). Samples that i download work fine in all browsers. • cross-compiling autoconf-based tools with mingw on Mac OS X

  I'd like to cross-compile some open-source libraries (libiconv, gettext, glib2) for windows using mingw on Mac OS X. I've installed mingw on Mac with MacPorts. But now I'm not sure what to give to the configure script so that it will work. The cross-compilation tutorials I've seen all talk about makefiles, but no one mentions what to give autoconf-based projects. I'm configuring like this: ./configure --prefix=/opt/local/i386-mingw32 --host=i586-mingw32msvc but it doesn't seem to take. While the configure will pass, running "make" will give this error: i686-apple-darwin9-gcc-4.0.1: no input files I thought the "--host" argument to configure was supposed to tell it to use the mingw compiler? I'm not sure what's going on here.

• Test assembly code on a mac

  Hello, A while back I was following some tutorials an assembly. I was running it all on a windows machine, compiling with NASM and then writing the compiled code to a floppy disk, then reboot and try the code. This process was long and time consuming and sadly was not on a mac. When I found out that Xcode for mac installed NASM I immediately tried to compile some code. The code compiled fine. The issue is testing it. On a mac I have no floppy (not like I want to use one) so Im not sure how to test this. I looked in to Q (kju) and found it would only emulate things on an ISO file. So I guess what Im asking is is it possible to install the compiled code on an ISO file for testing? (Note: the code when compiled forms a .bin file) Thanks for any help

  I am working on a simple 2D openGL project. It contains a main actor you can control with the keyboard arrows. I got that to work okay. What I am wanting is something that can help explain how to make another actor object follow the main actor. Maybe a tutorial on openGL. The three main things I need to learn are the actor following, collision detection, and some kind of way to create gravity. Any good books or tutorials to help get me in the right direction would be great.

From some Tutorials over the web, I figured out how to pass parameters to the Script as well how to make a task which is dependent on other subtasks.   I'm building an application in Hibernate, Spring and JSF2 using only annotations. How can I take advantage of OpenSessionInViewInterceptor found in Spring to catch any hibernate session that might open within a bean? I'm trying to elegantly solve the common “failed to lazily initialize a collection of role: your.Class.assocation no session or session was closed.” problem when trying to read from a yet uninitialized list of POJOs inside another POJO (A Tag entity retrieved by a DAO that contains a List of Project objects I want to read).   I'm trying to get started with FitNesse for .NET on Windows Vista. In all tutorials I find on the web I'm told to execute the run.bat file, but all i get when downloading the latest release is a .jar-file. When i run this, the filestructure is unpacked and I can reach the fitnesse server by browsing to http://localhost. Now, when I'm trying to set up a test project, according to all documentation I find I'm supposed define the path to fitsharp.dll but I can't find this file anywhere in the filestructure that was set up from the .jar-file.   Is there any standards/guidelines/good practices for making websites with support of different content and UI? I'm interesting in articles/tutorials, that cover this topics. E.g. there going to be website for multiple countries. And user should have possibility to select UI and content languages separately. I assume that not all content will be translated, so there should be some mechanism for showing "default language" content for specific page. But again, should this "default" be per site, or per country? E.g. in some countries (Belgium, Finland) there are several official languages. If one language is unavailable, should default be second one, or English? Another example: many people prefer English UI (no mater of their origin), but want local scales (inches, meters) and local services. I don't care much about programing languages now, just want to understand what users are expected, what should be scope, and what are good practices.

• How can I scrape the current webpage with php/javascript?

  I have made the following webpage for generating interactive todo lists: http://robert-kent.com/todo/todo.php Basically, the user pastes a numbered todo list and each task is placed into it's own div with a unique id. Users can add notes to the tasks (done with javascript) and can click the green check when the task is done to hide it. I'd like to add an Export button which would generate a report of which tasks were completed and which were not, along with the user-entered notes. After a bit of searching I understand that what I want to do is scrape the page, but I haven't the faintest idea of the best way to do it. Many of the articles and tutorials I have found with Google involve scraping other sites and don't really explain how I could iterate over each div on the page. • Hello World bootloader not working!

  Hello. I've been working through the tutorials on this webpage which progressively creates a bootloader that displays Hello World. The 2nd tutorial (where we attempt to get an "A" to be output) works perfectly, and yet the 1st tutorial doesn't work for me at all! (The BIOS completely ignores the floppy disk and boots straight into Windows). This is less of an issue, although any explanations would be appreciated. The real problem is that I can't get the 3rd tutorial to work. Instead on outputting "Hello World", I get an unusual character (and blinking cursor) in the bottom-left corner of the screen. It looks a bit like a smiley face inside a rounded rectangle. Does anyone know how to get Hello World to display as it should?

For example, processing variables. $var = 1 $var = doSomething($var); $var = doSomething2($var); $var = doSomething3($var); It looks a bit awful. • Exposing.NET assembly as COM 101

  I have trouble to expose a .NET assembly in COM. It seems that I must be missing some basic step because I think I followed all tutorials and documentation I found as well as common sense, but still when I do (in a test VBScript): Set o = CreateObject("MyLib.MyClass") It keeps saying that the object cannot be created. Here are the steps I have done: I have simple one method dummy class with no attributes. The class is in a class library which has "Make assembly COM-visible" ticked in Visual Studio. The class library is signed. The DLL is registered via RegAsm.exe with the /codebase parameter (I don’t want / cannot add the DLL to GAC). Just to be sure, I tried to copy the library to the same directory as the test VBScript, but it does not help. Edit: I should have mentioned that the I can instantiate the class in COM if I put the DLL into GAC.

So here is my assumption of how that would look based on tutorials, but I know it is incorrect. This is to show my limited knowledge and give better understanding of what I'm doing: First I should create the line var line = d3.svg.line().interpolate('basis'); Then I want to bind the data to my body and append an svg element for each key: d3.select('body') .selectAll('svg') .data(userdata) .enter() .append('svg') .append(line) .x(function(d, i) { return i; }) .y(function(d) { return d[i]; }); So am I close??

• Problem with "Hello, WebView" example

  Hi there, I'm new in android development and I am trying out the WebView example in the official android site. http://developer.android.com/guide/tutorials/views/hello-webview.html But I do everything they say...which is pretty simple: I create the project, edit the layout file, then i add the code, etc. No problems building...but when I launch the app in the simulator I just got a black screen. It is like if the Layout is empty...like if the WebView is not created. does anybody know what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advanced
