  • Is javac enough to build an OSGi bundle?

    - by Chatanga
    To produce a bundle from source using a tool such as javac, you need to provide it with a linear classpath. Unfortunately, it won't work in some situations still perfectly legal from an OSGi point of view: dependencies with embedded JAR in them; same packages contained by different dependencies. Since javac doesn't understand OSGi metadata, I won't be able to simply but the dependencies in a classpath. A finer package grained approach seems necessary. How this problem is addressed by people using OSGi in an automated process (continuous integration)? Strangely, there is a lot of resources on the web on how to create bundle JAR (creating the metadata, creating the JAR) provided you have the classes/inner JAR to put inside, but very few things on how actually get theses classes compiled.

  • Checkbox values to varchar via Spring

    - by iowatiger08
    I am trying to get a varchar message from a database to display the selected values of a checkbox field in a jsp for patient's medication's dosage frequency. The possible values will be saved in comma-delimited string in the varchar. For most form fields there is simply a one form value to one database field ratio, but in this case, I am needing to merge the values that would come as a string[] into the comma-delimited string and then when retrieving that record for that medication of that patient, display the selected values from the comma-delimited string as selected from the selectableDosageFrequencyList. You assistance in this is greatly appreciated as I am not sure what I am missing here. In the application context, I created the list of possible values as part of the ServiceBean. <property name="selectableDosageFrequencyList"> <set> <value>On an empty stomach</value> <value>Every other day</value> <value>4 times daily</value> <value>3 times daily</value> <value>Twice daily</value> <value>At bedtime</value> <value>With meal</value> <value>As needed</value> <value>Once daily</value> </set> </property> This is set up in the flow as requestscope. <view-state id="addEditMedication" model="medication"> <on-render> <set name="requestScope.selectableDosageFrequencyList" value="memberService.buildSelectableDosageFrequencyList(patient)" /> </on-render> ... <transition on="next" to="assessment" > <evaluate expression="memberService.updateMedication(patient, medication)" /> </transition> </view-state> I have helper methods in the memberService that need to be executed when the form is init and then when the form is completed. //get the form fields selected and build the new string for db public String setSelectedDosageFrequency(String [] dosageFrequencies){ String frequencies = null; if (dosageFrequencies != null){ for (String s : dosageFrequencies){ frequencies = frequencies + "," + s; } } return frequencies; } //get value from database and build selected Set public LinkedHashSet<String> getSelectedDosageFrequencyList(String dosageFrequency){ String copyOfDosages =dosageFrequency;//may not need to do this LinkedHashSet<String> setofSelectedDosageFrequency = new LinkedHashSet<String> (); while (copyOfDosages!= null && copyOfDosages.length()>0){ for (String aFrequency: selectableDosageFrequencyList){ if (copyOfDosages.contains(aFrequency)){ setofSelectedDosageFrequency.add(aFrequency); if (!copyOfDosages.equals(aFrequency) && copyOfDosages.endsWith(aFrequency)){ copyOfDosages.replaceAll(","+aFrequency, ""); }else if (!copyOfDosages.equals(aFrequency) && copyOfDosages.contains(aFrequency=",")){ copyOfDosages.replaceAll(aFrequency+",", ""); }else copyOfDosages.replaceAll(aFrequency, ""); copyOfDosages.trim(); } } } return setofSelectedDosageFrequency; } The Medication class that backs the form will have a variable for dosage-frequency as a string. private String dosageFrequency; The jsp I currently am doing this. <div class="formField"> <form:label path="dosageFrequency">Dosage Frequency</form:label> <ul class="multi-column double" style="width: 550px;"> <form:checkboxes path="dosageFrequency" items="${selectableDosageFrequencyList}" itemLabel="${selectableDosageFrequencyList}" element="li" /> </ul> </div>

  • Migration solution for singletons in an OSGI environment

    - by Ido
    I'm working in a JEE Environment in which each application is in a war file of its own. In the WEB-INF/lib of each application war file there is a common jar that is shared by all applications. This common jar contains several Singletons which are accessed from many points in the code. Because of the war-file boundaries each application has its own instances of the Singletons. Which is how we operate today, since we want to configure some of the singletons differently in each application. Now we are moving towards an OSGi environment, where this solution will no longer work since each bundle has its own class loader, so if I try to access MySingleton which resides in bundle "common.jar" from bundle "appA.jar" or from bundle "appB.jar" I will get the same instance. Remember I "want" a different instance of a singleton per bundle. (as ironic as it sounds) Now I realize the ideal solution would be to fix the code to not rely on those singletons, however due to a tight schedule I was wondering if you guys can suggest some sort of a migration solution that would allow me to use bundle-wide singletons so each of them could be configured per bundle.

What is preferred?

I have pasted the whole code that I need to complete but I need help with the following method public void changeColour(Circle aCircle) which is meant to allow to change the colour of the circle randomly, if 0 comes the light of the circle sgould change to red, 1 for green and 2 for purple. public class DiscoLight { /* instance variables */ private Circle light; // simulates a circular disco light in the Shapes window private Random randomNumberGenerator; /** * Default constructor for objects of class DiscoLight */ public DiscoLight() { super(); this.randomNumberGenerator = new Random(); } /** * Returns a randomly generated int between 0 (inclusive) * and number (exclusive). • Check if there are any repeated elements in a array recursively

    - by devoured elysium
    I have to find recursively if there is any repeated element in an integer array v. The method must have the following signature: boolean hasRepeatedElements(int[] v) I can't see any way of doing that recursively without having to define another method or at least another overload to this method (one that takes for example the element to go after or something). At first I thought about checking for the current v if there is some element equal to the first element, then creating a new array with L-1 elements etc but that seems rather inefficient. Is it the only way? Am I missing here something?

  • How can I pipe a large amount of data as a runtime argument?

    - by Zombies
    Running an executable JAR on a linux platform here. The program it self works on a somewhat large amount of data, basically a list of URLs... could be up to 2k. Currently I get this from a simple DB call. But I was thinking that instead of creating a new mode and writing SQL to get a new result set and having to redploy everytime, I could just make the program more robust by passing in the result set (the list of URLs) that need to be worked on... so, within a linux environment, is there a pain-free/simple way to get the result set and pass it in dynamically? I know file i/o is one, but it doesn't seem to be effecient because each file has to be named, as well more logic to handle grabbing the correct file, creating a file with a unique name, etc.

  • for cycle not works allright

    - by joseph
    Hello. I call addNotify() method in class that I posted here. The problem is, that when I call addNotify() as it is in the code, setKeys(objs) do nothing. Nothing appears in my explorer of running app. But when I call addNotify()without loop(for int....), and add only one item to ArrayList, it shows that one item correctly. Does anybody knows where can be problem? See the cede class ProjectsNode extends Children.Keys{ private ArrayList objs = new ArrayList(); public ProjectsNode() { } @Override protected Node[] createNodes(Object o) { MainProject obj = (MainProject) o; AbstractNode result = new AbstractNode (new DiagramsNode(), Lookups.singleton(obj)); result.setDisplayName (obj.getName()); return new Node[] { result }; } @Override protected void addNotify() { //this loop causes nothing appears in my explorer. //but when I replace this loop by single line "objs.add(new MainProject("project1000"));", it shows that one item in explorer for (int i=0;i==10;i++){ objs.add(new MainProject("project1000")); } setKeys (objs); } }

  • Is nested synchronized block necessary?

    - by Dan
    I am writing a multithreaded program and I have a method that has a nested synchronized blocks and I was wondering if I need the inner sync or if just the outer sync is good enough. public class Tester { private BlockingQueue<Ticket> q = new LinkedBlockingQueue<>(); private ArrayList<Long> list = new ArrayList<>(); public void acceptTicket(Ticket p) { try { synchronized (q) { q.put(p); synchronized (list) { if (list.size() < 5) { list.add(p.getSize()); } else { list.remove(0); list.add(p.getSize()); } } } } catch (InterruptedException ex) { Logger.getLogger(Consumer.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } } } EDIT: This isn't a complete class as I am still working on it. But essentially I am trying to emulate a ticket machine. The ticket machine maintains a list of tickets in the BlockingQueue q. Whenever a client adds a ticket to the machine, the machine also keeps track of the price of the last 5 tickets (ArrayList list)

  • How to avoid repetition when working with primitive types?

    - by I82Much
    I have the need to perform algorithms on various primitive types; the algorithm is essentially the same with the exception of which type the variables are. So for instance, /** * Determine if <code>value</code> is the bitwise OR of elements of <code>validValues</code> array. * For instance, our valid choices are 0001, 0010, and 1000. * We are given a value of 1001. This is valid because it can be made from * ORing together 0001 and 1000. * On the other hand, if we are given a value of 1111, this is invalid because * you cannot turn on the second bit from left by ORing together those 3 * valid values. */ public static boolean isValid(long value, long[] validValues) { for (long validOption : validValues) { value &= ~validOption; } return value != 0; } public static boolean isValid(int value, int[] validValues) { for (int validOption : validValues) { value &= ~validOption; } return value != 0; } How can I avoid this repetition? I know there's no way to genericize primitive arrays, so my hands seem tied. I have instances of primitive arrays and not boxed arrays of say Number objects, so I do not want to go that route either. I know there are a lot of questions about primitives with respect to arrays, autoboxing, etc., but I haven't seen it formulated in quite this way, and I haven't seen a decisive answer on how to interact with these arrays. I suppose I could do something like: public static<E extends Number> boolean isValid(E value, List<E> numbers) { long theValue = value.longValue(); for (Number validOption : numbers) { theValue &= ~validOption.longValue(); } return theValue != 0; } and then public static boolean isValid(long value, long[] validValues) { return isValid(value, Arrays.asList(ArrayUtils.toObject(validValues))); } public static boolean isValid(int value, int[] validValues) { return isValid(value, Arrays.asList(ArrayUtils.toObject(validValues))); } Is that really much better though? Any thoughts in this matter would be appreciated.

  • Case Insensitive Ternary Search Tree

    - by Yan Cheng CHEOK
    I had been using Ternary Search Tree for a while, as the data structure to implement a auto complete drop down combo box. Which means, when user type "fo", the drop down combo box will display foo food football The problem is, my current used of Ternary Search Tree is case sensitive. My implementation is as follow. It had been used by real world for around 1++ yeas. Hence, I consider it as quite reliable. My Ternary Search Tree code However, I am looking for a case insensitive Ternary Search Tree, which means, when I type "fo", the drop down combo box will show me foO Food fooTBall Here are some key interface for TST, where I hope the new case insentive TST may have similar interface too. /** * Stores value in the TernarySearchTree. The value may be retrieved using key. * @param key A string that indexes the object to be stored. * @param value The object to be stored in the tree. */ public void put(String key, E value) { getOrCreateNode(key).data = value; } /** * Retrieve the object indexed by key. * @param key A String index. * @return Object The object retrieved from the TernarySearchTree. */ public E get(String key) { TSTNode<E> node = getNode(key); if(node==null) return null; return node.data; } An example of usage is as follow. TSTSearchEngine is using TernarySearchTree as the core backbone. Example usage of Ternary Search Tree // There is stock named microsoft and MICROChip inside stocks ArrayList. TSTSearchEngine<Stock> engine = TSTSearchEngine<Stock>(stocks); // I wish it would return microsoft and MICROCHIP. Currently, it just return microsoft. List<Stock> results = engine.searchAll("micro");

  • mockito ArrayList<String> problem...

    - by Sardathrion
    I have a method that I am trying to unit test. This method takes a parameter as an ArrayList and does things with it. The mock I am trying to define is: ArrayList<String> mocked = mock(ArrayList.class); which gives a [unchecked] unchecked conversion" warning. ArrayList<String> mocked = mock(ArrayList<String>.class); gives me an error. Anyone care to enlighten me as to what I am doing wrong?

  • Grails , how do I get an object NOT to save

    - by user350325
    Hello I am new to grails and trying to create a form which allows a user to change the email address associated with his/her account for a site I am creating. It asks for the user for their current password and also for the new email address they want to use. If the user enters the wrong password or an invalid email address then it should reject them with an appropriate error message. Now the email validation can be done through constraints in grails, but the password change has to match their current password. I have implemented this check as a method on a service class. See code below: def saveEmail = { def client = ClientUser.get(session.clientUserID) client.email = params.email if(clientUserService.checkPassword(session.clientUserID , params.password) ==false) { flash.message = "Incorrect Password" client.discard() redirect(action:'changeEmail') } else if(!client.validate()) { flash.message = "Invalid Email Address" redirect(action:'changeEmail') } else { client.save(); session.clientUserID = null; flash.message = "Your email address has been changed, please login again" redirect(controller: 'clientLogin' , action:'index') } } Now what I noticed that was odd was that if I entered an invalid email then it would not save the changes (as expected) BUT if I entered the wrong password and a valid email then it would save the changes and even write them back into the database even though it would give the correct "invalid password" error message. I was puzzled so set break points in all the if/else if/else blocks and found that it was hitting the first if statement as expected and not hitting the others , so it would never come accross a call to the save() method, yet it was saved anyway. After a little research I came accross documentation for the discard() method which you can see used in the code above. So I added this but still no avail. I even tried using discard then reloading the client object from the DB again but still no dice. This is very frustrating and I would be grateful for any help, since I think that this should surely not be a complicated requirement!

  • How to differentiate between time to live and time to idle in ehcache

    - by Jacques René Mesrine
    The docs on ehache says: timeToIdleSeconds: Sets the time to idle for an element before it expires. i.e. The maximum amount of time between accesses before an element expires timeToLiveSeconds: Sets the time to live for an element before it expires. i.e. The maximum time between creation time and when an element expires. I understand timeToIdleSeconds But does it means that after the creation & first access of a cache item, the timeToLiveSeconds is not applicable anymore ?
