  • Changing default image viewer in registry

    I want my application to change the program which should be launched if ie. a .jpg (in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT) is launched. The *.jpg and *.jpeg items in the registry references the jpegfile-class, but when I change the value of the default application to open the file, the old default is still launched, but not my program. (I set the value in jpegfile/shell/open/command/ to the path of my application.) In firefox, the right-click menu etc the choice of default viewer will show that my application should be launched, but it isn't.

  • C# Count registry keys existing using a partial value

Would I be able to search the registryPath variable above and get a count of the number of keys containing the "Entry Point" keyword? Assuming that there are also other keys existing without this keyword.   • No coverage for runtime with Devel::Cover and ModPerl::Registry

    When I'm running Devel::Cover with ModPerl::Registry, I get no coverage info except for BEGIN blocks. When I'm running the same script with Devel::Cover from command line or as a CGI, everything works alright (obviously). How can I make Devel::Cover "see" my code being executed in the runtime?     I have this terrible problem with IE 7/8/9. I wrote an app using Dojo toolkit 1.8.0 and Play! framework. It works fine in all browser except for IE. Its 'developers tools' show no error, so does firebug.     I'm scripting some Windows Server 2008 R2 builds using Power Shell. Some software needs to be installed after the server has joined the domain. Since I want to automate everything, I'm looking to by-pass the domain controllers Welcome page using a registry hack script. I work for a large company and the Active Directory people are unwilling to change group policy. I figure if it's a registry key I can script the change, install the software, replace the key and reboot as the final step. Is there a registry key change that will by-pass the Domain Join Welcome page?

  • Windows Explorer Context Menu Integration, get file that was right clicked on

    I've already figured out how to add a menu item to the right click context menu of the windows explorer using the registry. I currently have it set to launch my application when my menu item is clicked. However, I want to know if there is a way to know what file is was right clicked on. I thought it would have been sent as a command line argument to the launched program, but it's not. Any ideas?

  • Dijit.Dialog 1.4, setting size is limited to 600x400 no matter what size I set it.

    I'm trying to set the size of a dijit.Dialog, but it seems limited to 600x400, no matter what size I set it. I've copied the code from dojocampus and the dialog appear, but when i set the size larger, it only shows 600x400. Using firebug and selecting items inside the dialog, I see that they are larger than the dialog, but don't show correctly. I set it up to scroll, but the bottom of the scrollbar is out of view. In firebug, I've check the maxSize from _Widget and it is set to infinity.     While giving permissions to the 'defaultAppPool' user I am getting the message 'There is no such global user or group: DefaultAppPool.' Can anyone help me here! However, using command 'net localgroup "Performance Monitor Users" DefaultAppPool /add' I am able to resolve the error but i am facing this problem in Windows Server 2003/IIS 6.0. Here, I am always prompted as 'There is no such global user or group: DefaultAppPool.' I have also added the 'Network Service' but no avail.

    Hi, I have an application developed in VC++ 2010 , it runs in xp , it also runs in Windows 7 when i check the run in XP mode. When i check the run in xp mode , it sets a string value in HK_LOCAL_USER \Software\microsoft\windowsNT\currentversion\appcompatflags\layers folder , and runs well. When i set the same value in the folder through an application built in VC++ 2010 , it doesn't work why..? are there any other dependencies , that i should look into..?

  • I can't access certain subkeys in an entry in the registry

    I'm trying to get to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameUX\, but the only subkey being returned in C# is MachineSettings - even though there are additional subkeys, including Games and several keys named for different user SIDs. How can I access these other keys? Even a standard user account can read the content of both Games and that account's own SID (when looking in regedit)...

  • Dual hard drive Windows 7 system, modified the registry to get programs to install on second drive, now IE doesn't work

    I have a dual hard drive Windows 7 system, Windows is installed on an SSD (C:) and I modified the registry to try to force programs to install on second HDD drive (another letter). The registry edits are pretty simple, just a few keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion to change the drive letter. For the most part the system is very fast and works great, but IE doesn't work anymore. With IE10, it opens for a flash with a white window then closes. I tried installed IE11 which opens a white window for a few seconds, doesn't respond, then crashes. I've tried all the solutions I could find. This includes resetting the IE settings, "uninstalling" and re-installing IE, which is just turning it on and off in "Turn Windows Features on or off", copying the Program Files\Internet Explorer files onto both/either drives, changing the registry keys back to use C:, lots of rebooting, and safe mode. Nothing has worked. I don't see errors in the event viewer, but I might not know what to look for. Any ideas on how to get IE running? I don't need IE for daily browsing, I just need it for cross-browser testing on sites I build and on the rare occasion a page only works in IE. I don't really want to use a virtual machine, but would be ok with something standalone like tredosoft's, but I'm not aware of something like that for current versions of IE.

I have installed CS3 and 4 master collection on windows and with wine on ubuntu can't run it (yes, no registry entries added to the wine!) I can copy all the needed file to the /home/prasad/.wine/dosdevices/C: directory with hidden files included, but how to add registry entries to them? (windows registry editor like thing to wine) is it possible to make illustrator run in ubuntu like that, i tried to install Master collection but it failed number of times. I use ubuntu 10.10

  • Is there way to scan a registry hive on an attached USB drive?

    I have a hard drive with a virus that I removed from a PC. I can scan the file system of it as an attached USB drive. But how do I scan the registry of that USB drive since it is not booted up like a regular hard drive? Thank you EDIT: To clarify, the USB drive was a regular hard drive in a PC that got infected. I cannot boot into the OS to run a scan. I removed it to attach it to a working PC so I can scan its file system. But, I cannot scan the registry of that hard drive because that drive is not booted up. The hard drive was a regular XP hard drive install that I removed to scan as an attached drive (with an adapter to make it a USB drive.)

Is there some tool available that can index the contents of the whole registry, or contents of a single hive, such that fast lookups are available? (for example generating some SQLite database with FTS3 or FTS4 enabled for full text search) Thank you. PS. I don't want RegScanner or tools that perform a new, linear search every time.
