• Unable to start Tomcat 6.x when Mac OS X 10.6 is boot up

  I am using Mac OS X 10.6 and installed MAMP and Tomcat. My Tomcat is installed in /Users/(userID)/Tomcat I can start Tomcat server in Terminal without a problem But it cannot be started automatically when Mac OS X is boot up. I put a file org.apache.tomcat.plist in /Library/LaunchDaemons Disabled Label org.apache.tomcat ProgramArguments /Users/henryfok/Tomcat/bin/startup.sh RunAtLoad Any hint ?

• maven-ear-plugin works if jboss version is 4.2, but not 5. Why ?

  I am using maven to configure maven-ear-plugin. I am getting following exception when I say jboss version is 5 (See below code, under tag). • How to configure path to mappings to be used in hibernate.cfg.xml with maven (hbm2cfgxml)

  Hi, can any one tell me how to force maven to precede mapping .hbm.xml files in the automatically generated hibernate.cfg.xml file with package path? My general idea is, I'd like to use hibernate-tools via maven to generate the persistence layer for my application. So, I need the hibernate.cfg.xml, then all my_table_names.hbm.xml and at the end the POJO's generated.   I've apache2,tomcat6 ubuntu servers running on port 80 with mod_jk setup hosting jsp pages. The developers are complaining that the pages are being rendered very slow when tried with IE browser and saying, at every refresh the images are reloading again and again which is not happening with other browsers. I'm given a hint CDNwhich I've no knowledge but I found in the google that cdn makes pages available on many server which improves the speed of the page being rendered. Anybody could tell me how could I make my pages available in cdn servers?

  I am attempting to build and redeploy to a remote tomcat 7 server using the cargo-maven plugin. I have been able to successfully deploy to the remote server, but all other actions fail.   When I do a release of my project, I want to share the source with a wider group of people than I normally do during development. The code is shared via a Git repository. To do this, I have used the following: remote public repository - released code is pushed here, every week or so (http://example.com/public) remote private repository - non-release code is pushed here, more than daily (http://example.com/private) In my local git repository, I have the following remotes defined: origin http://example.com/private public http://example.com/public I am currently trying to configure the maven-release-plugin to manage versioning of the builds, and to manage tagging and pushing of code to the public repository. In my pom.xml, I have listed the <scm/ as follows: <scm><connection>scm:git:http://example.com/public</connection></scm> (Removing this line will cause mvn release:prepare to fail) However, when calling mvn release:clean release:prepare release:perform Maven calls git push origin tagname rather than pushing to the URL specified in the POM. So the questions are: Best practice: Should I just be tagging and committing in my private repo (origin), and pushing to public manually? Can I make Maven push to the repository that I choose, rather than defaulting to origin? I felt this was implied by the requirement of the <connection/ element in <scm/.

• Running Cargo From Maven antrun Plugin

  I have a maven (multi-module) project creating some WAR and EAR files for JBoss AS 7.1.x. For one purpose, I need to deploy one generated EAR file of one module to a fresh JBoss instance and run it, call some REST web service calls against it and stop JBoss. Then I need to package the results of these calls that were written to the database. Currently, I am trying to use CARGO and the maven ant run plugin to perform this task. Unfortunately, I cannot get the three (maven, ant run and CARGO) to play together. I don't have the uberjar that is used in the ant examples of cargo. How can I configure the ant run task so that the cargo ant task can create, start, deploy my JBoss? Ideally the one unpacked and configured by the cargo-maven2-plugin in another phase? Or, is there a better way to achieve my goal of creating the database? I cannot really use the integration-test phase, as it is executed after the package phase. So, I plan to do it all in compile phase using antrun.

  I would like to build two different versions of a WAR in Maven (I know that's a no-no, that's just the way it is given the current situation). In the version of a WAR depicted by an assembly, I want to replace a dependency by the same dependency with a different classifier. • Preserving timestamps on Clojure .clj files when building shaded jar via Maven Shade Plugin

  When using the maven-shade-plugin to package our jar artifact that contained a few Clojure libs and some Java. We were using AOT compilation for our Clojure code. When we loaded the jar, it was having very slow load times. AOT compilation is supposed to help this quite a bit, but that wasn't what we were seeing. We noticed in java jar -verbose output that there was a lot of JVM__DEFINE_CLASS calls happening when Clojure classes were being loaded. This didn't make sense, since more of our Clojure code was AOT compiled to .class files. Turns out the maven-shade-plugin creates all new files, with new timestamps in the final artifact Clojure uses the timestamp information on a .clj file vs. a .class file, to determine if the file needs to be recompiled. The maven-shade-plugin was causing the .clj file and it's associated .class file to have the same timestamp, so Clojure always chose to dynamically recompile the source. The only workaround that we have been able to figure out, at this point, is to write a script that would re-open the shaded jar and bump the .clj file timestamps back to some time in the past, so that they wouldn't be equal to the timestamps of their associated .class files. Does anyone know of a better approach?

I have setted up everything on this machine to run tomcat, tomcat working well on local host. but i can not access the wsdl of the webservice running on this tomcat server remotely using IP address of this server, as follows. http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080/axis2/services/listServices one of my friend said that i need to configure DNS to access remotely using IP address, i didn't understand what he said also. iptables on this server is also stooped. • IIS NLB Web Farm to front Single Tomcat Instance

  I've got a single Tomcat 6 server that hosts a JSP app. We just spun up a new IIS 7.5 web farm to host our other internal apps. Currently the machine that hosts Tomcat is also running IIS 7 with the ISAPI filter loaded to provide front-end handling for the JSP app. I'd like to move the IIS portion to the web farm to consolidate our IIS presence and let the Tomcat server just serve and run Java and Tomcat. Has anyone done this, is it even possible while ensuring session state is properly maintained? I had it up and running using the IIS Tomcat Connector http://tomcatiis.riaforge.org/ but after a while the communication between the boxes slowed and pages would not load. In addition it seemed like some of our authentication tickets were timing out. Thanks for any ideas or reference material!

• Apache Tomcat 6.0.29 startup causing Win XP SP3 reboot

  Some of our Windows XP Developer machines die (black screen - no ping) when starting up Tomcat from a console. This only happens if the Tomcat debug console window is displayed (not minimised). When minimised, the startup / run is successful. I've checked for Tomcat logs and the crash sessions produce empty (zero bytes) tomcat log files. No system logs exist and no crash dump is created even though this is enabled in the Windows settings. The machine is dual screen and another machine with the same image has the same issue. The only clue is just before the crash, one of the monitors the system reports "Cannot display video mode 1280x1024" (approximate error, didn't write it down). Is there a way I can get Windows to produce log files of this crash session? Beyond running Tomcat as a service / minimised window, how can I fix (or even investigate)?

But since I have update I have noticed that tomcat is not writing any new log files. The log files were of the following format: vctomcat-stderr.XXXX-XX-XX.log vctomcat-stdout.XXXX-XX-XX.log I would like to know if there is a way by which we can configure tomcat (which is shipped with vCenter) to produces these log files? Also, VMware seems to have removed that Configure Tomcat application that they used to ship with the older version. Any reasons for this?

• Running Tomcat 7 and Apache 2 on the same server

  Part of my site needs to run over HTTPS and I'm creating a sub-domain for that part. I have apache httpd 2 AND Tomcat 7 running on the same server with the same IP, Apache is on port 80 of course, while Tomcat is running on port 8080. Right now I am doing domain forwarding for requests that need to run off tomcat. For example, mathteamhosting.com/mathApp can forward to mathteamhosting.com:8080/mathApp. I would like to have Tomcat handle the https requests for that subdomain. I don't think this forwarding technique can work in this case. How do I set that up so that Tomcat receives the requests on port 443 while apache handles port 80. To be more specific: http://proctinator.com == request goes to Apache web server https://private.proctinator.com == request goes to Apache web server

  I need to enable SSL on my Tomcat and Apache so I need to generate the (self-signed) certificate using Openssl tool end, about Tomcat, I need to import the certificate using keytool. I know that is necessary to convert (openssl) certificate to Tomcat compatible format. So I need to Use OpenSSL to convert the certificate into an PKCS12 keystore an I need to Import this keystore using keytool and export as Tomcat compatible keystore. But I not understood how can I convert a my certificate (generated with Openssl) into a requested Tomcat format? is possible to explain me all the steps to reach my goal? thanks

• tomcat processParameters complains about "invalid chunk ignored"

  I am hosting a software system running under tomcat for quite a number of customers. Some of these send invalid URLs as request. These URLs may contain "&=" or "&&", which is not within the http specs. Now my tomcat complains about the following: "08.09.2010 12:36:04 org.apache.tomcat.util.http.Parameters processParameters WARNING: Parameters: Invalid chunk '' ignored." It is no problem, as is doesn't affect the operation in any way. Only problem ist that the tomcat/logs/catalina.out is growing with every single request. In the net you can find suggestions like: - Fix your URLs (which I can't, as it is the customers who send them) - Raise tomcats log level to ERROR (which I don't want to do, as it would suppress INFO like "INFO: Reloading context [/ContextName]" and other stuff you want to know. - Redirect the log to the application log (which won't solve the problem, as the message will flood just another log) Does anyone know how to solve the problem at its ROOT, which means: Tell tomcat not to complain about invalid request parameters any longer

There are times when when I am asked to create a very long page with lots of images.My first thought is to enable paging on the proposed page. Imagine that we have 60 images on a page. There are performance concerns when we have so many images on a page. Paging can solve that problem if I am allowed to place only 5 images on a page.Sometimes the customer does not like the idea of the paging.Believe it or not some people find the idea of paging not attractive at all.In that case I need a way to only load the initial set of images and as the user scrolls down the page to load the rest.So as someone scrolls down new requests are made to the server and more images are fetched. I can accomplish that with the jQuery LazyLoad Plugin.This is just a plugin that delays loading of images in long web pages.The images that are outside of the viewport (visible part of web page) won't be loaded before the user scrolls to them. Using jQuery LazyLoad Plugin on long web pages containing many large images makes the page load faster. In this hands-on example I will be using Expression Web 4.0.This application is not a free application. You can use any HTML editor you like. You can use Visual Studio 2012 Express edition.
