• "Unknown user name or bad password" when I launch ADUC

  When I open up Active Directory Users and Computers from my workstation, I receive an error: Naming information cannot be located because: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. Contact your system administrator to verify that your domain is properly configured and is currently online. If I log in to my workstation as somebody else, it works. If I log into a different workstation using my account, it works. All the workstations in question are running Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit) or Windows Server 2008. The domain controller in question is running Windows Small Business Server 2008. Everything else (that I tried) in the Remote Server Administration Tools runs just fine. Any thoughts? Edit: I just tried reinstalling RSAT. No such luck.

• My pendrive is not working and showing Unknown file System

  I have a pendrive when I insert it into one o my port it shows in the My Computer but when I try to explore, it shows please insert a disk into drive H. However my usb drive is well inserted. I tried to format it but it is showing There is no disk in drive H, Insert a disk then try again. Its properties is showing Unknown File System and the used space and free space part showing 0 bytes. I cann't also check for errors in the drive. Its device status:The device is working properly. I also reinstalled the driver but that did not help me. Please suggest some way to recover the issue. • Unknown device error installing Lexmark printer in Vista

  I have been using Lexmark X3650 All-In-One on my Windows Vista Desktop PC for a year without problem. Yesterday, I was prompted to plug in the USB from the printer and after that I got errors: "The USB device has malfunctioned." ,"The unknown device has been installed unsuccessfully.". Then, the printer just stoped responding. I have uninstalled the driver from Device Manager and software (using Lexmark's clean utility), rebooted, reinstalled, same thing, tried different ports/cable. Vista displays these two errors stated above immediately upon plug in. Please help me!

• postfix + mysql, user unknown

  I have installed postfix with dovecot and postfix admin and all seemed well at the beginning. I can log in with thunderbird and check the mailboxes (all empty now) and TRY to send mail, even TLS works. The problem comes when I try to send mail. • Windows 7 (64-bit) remove global hotkey created by unknown application

  As the titles says an unknown application that I've installed have registered a global hot-key for Alt+2 , or as this is a Finnish keyboard it's actually Alt Gr+2. As this is also the key combination for writing the @ symbol (I copy/pasted this one) you can imagine how frustrating it is. There doesn't seem to be a way to even list these global hot-keys in windows, let alone change them. Searching the net doesn't help much either, it just gives you a list of windows built-in hot-keys or references to AutoHotKey, which as far as I can tell can't solve this issue. I don't want to script/customize/modify anything, I just want to remove this global hot-key so I can start typing @ again.

  Nginx currently will not start due to the error mentioned in the title. Here's the actual error I'm getting: $ sudo /etc/init.d/nginx restart Restarting nginx: nginx: [emerg] unknown limit_req_zone "one" in /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/www.myhashimotosthyroiditis.com:15 nginx: configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf test failed And this is immediately following creating the VM in question (www.myhashimotosthyroiditis.com), using a template I found here that was supposedly the "out-of-the-box-for-lazy-people" templates. I'm very new to Nginx and I could not find any helpful information via google or searching here, so I beg my pardon if this is a product of stupidity.   Before you point me to Google or serverfault search I want to tell you that I've searched a lot, did some "fixes". They didn't help. I have ISPConfig 3 installed on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Server The server has several domains and lets call the main domain: example.com. I have also demo.com I have several emails on each domain. The status of the email sent between the emails: [email protected] - [email protected] (Success) [email protected] - [email protected] (Failure) The failure is with error: postfix/pipe[31311]: 8E72ED058D: to=<[email protected]>, relay=dovecot, delay=0.1, delays=0.03/0/0/0.07, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (user unknown) I saw the fix for removing the example.com from: mydestination = localhost, localhost.localdomain in /etc/postfix/main.cf It didn't help. Also an important thing is that the example.com MX records are Google's. We are using Google Apps for this domain in order to use Gmail servers. I think the problem is that the mail server is not looking for the MX records of the domain. It knows the domain is set on this server and it searches for the destination email on the local server, not on Google's servers. For several days I'm really lost! Thanks for your help in advance!

  Im having a strange problem with the terminal in OS X. When I open the terminal the username at the command prompt is: unknown-04-0c-ce-e3-0d-c2: ~ I can't pinpoint when this first started or why unfortunately. I usually use iTerm for web development purposes but this also occurs in the normal OS X Terminal app. Any ideas/help would be really appreciated. Also this forum post helped http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=152407 The extract from the right post: Having run into the exact same issue myself, and having come across this thread while attempting to figure it out, I thought I'd post the answer. OS X is initially setting your hostname to what's set for your Computer Name in Sharing; however, if you're set up for DHCP and you match a current lease on your DHCP server (i.e., match the IP address of another recent user), OS X will then set your hostname to whatever the DHCP server currently has for that lease. This freaked me out incredibly at first, as I had just reformatted (having just purchased my first Mac and wanting to see how the installer worked) and knew I had not yet changed the Computer Name in Sharing -- yet my system hostname at the Terminal prompt was indeed changed to what I had previously set, pre-format. I grepped around, not finding the name anywhere save log entries; I thought either the format didn't actually properly wipe everything, or I was losing my mind. Finally I logged into my router (it's a Linksys WRT54GS running OpenWRT), and found the hostname in the current leases file. I then manually set my Mac's IP to something different, and volia! -- the hostname was back to what I expected. I hope this helps save someone from the same paranoia I went through.

• "Error: Unknown error" when trying to start virtual machine from VMware server

  Problem We are running VMware Server 2.0.0 build-116503 on a Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server. There is a virtual machine installed, running Lotus Domino on Windows Server 2003. Ever since a sudden power failure last week, the virtual machine won't properly start up. When I run the command: vmrun -T server -h https://127.0.0.1:8333/sdk -u root -p jk2x2208 start "[standard] lotus/test.vmx" … after 30 seconds it displays: Error: Unknown error That's about everything I get. I know the command is right, since that's what we've used all the time. This has happened last Saturday after a scheduled backup shutdown, and somehow I was able to start it again. This week, it happened again, and I can't get it back up. Occasionally, I also get: Error: Cannot connect to the virtual machine When I get this, and I run the start command, it seemingly works. Why is this so random? Which configuration could have been messed up? What I've tried / other info I already shut down VMware itself with /etc/init.d/vmware stop. This works. I tried to start VMware again with /etc/init.d/vmware start. It complains that it's "not configured", which is why I had to rm /etc/vmware/not_configured, and then try to start again. There have been no software updates on the machine, and no configuration changes

• IIS 7.5 returning 404 for unknown host names

  This just doesn't seem correct to me, so I'm looking for someone to tell me how I've misconfigured IIS... Configuration is IIS7.5 (2008R2), without SP1. I have IIS 7.5 configured w/several sites. ALL sites have hostnames defined in the bindings, there is NO site w/out a hostname. However, if I request an unknown hostname from the server IIS (technically Microsoft-HTTPAPI/2.0) return a 404 error, not a 400 error. I would expect a 400 (or some other major error) rather than a lowly 404. This causes a problem when I have nginx in front of multiple IISs and want to stop a site so nginx takes it out of rotation. Since IIS still returns a 404 for the request even when there is no active site for that name, nginx doesn't know the server is dead. NB: IIS returns the 404 regardless of whether there is a server, but it's stopped, or there is no server. Thoughts? Solutions? -- Additional info: OK, I added a site on a port other than 80 (5000) and then on a connection to that port asked for a site that doesn't exist, and I get the expected error 400 (Invalid hostname). So, while IIS isn't listening for generic (no host name) connections on port 80 it would seem that something is. Any ideas how to get HTTPSys to dump the list of what it's listening for?

  My service for World Wide Web Publishing Service started successfully but whenever I browse to http://localhost/ I always get 502 Unknown host. • Ping Unknown Host on CentOS at EC2

  Weird problem. We have a collection of servers running CentOS 5 on EC2. The setup includes two DNS servers and two LDAP servers. DNS has a CNAME pointing at the primary LDAP server. One machine (and only one machine) is giving me problems. I can ssh into the server using LDAP authentication. But once I'm on the machine, ping won't resolve the LDAP host even though DNS seems to work fine. I checked the services and they are all logging in as local system or network service. Nothing for administrator. Anyone have any idea how I tell where these are coming from? • Source of Unexplained Requests in Server Logs

  Hi, I am baffled by some entries in my server logs, specifically the web-server logs. Other than normal, expected traffic, I have noticed three types of request errors (eg 404, etc.): Broken links, ie links from old, external pages that point to pages that are no longer here Sequences of probes, ie some jerk trying to hack in by scanning my server for a series of exploitable admin type pages and such What appear to be completely random requests for things that have never existed on the server or even have anything to do with the server, and appear by themselves (ie not a series of requests like the probes) Could it somehow be a mistyped URL or IP? That’s about the only thing that I can think of, but still, how could I get a request on say, foobar.dyndns.org (12.34.56.78) for something like www.wantsfly.com/prx2.php or /MNG/LIVE or http://ant.dsabuse.com/abc.php?auth=45V456b09m&strPassword=X%5BMTR__CBZ%40VA&nLoginId=43. (Those are a few actual requests from my logs.) Can someone please explain scenario three to me? Thanks.

• Repeated disconnects on WPA PEAP network

  My school has a WPA PEAP network with GTC inner authentication. I am able to connect to the network, but once I load a website or two, the network become unresponsive (i.e. in Chromium, it gets stuck at "Sending request"), and I'm eventually disconnected.
