  The application I am using is implementing some session timeout prompt using jquery. There is a timer that counts and if there is no user activity after predefined X minutes it shows user prompt (Your session will end soon... Continue or Logout). It uses the approach found here - http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/227382/Alert-Session-Time-out-in-ASP-Net. However, this doesn't work if user opens new tab: 1) User logs in, timer starts counting user inactivity's. 2) User clicks some link that opens in new window (for example, in our case it is a long report running). Second tab is active, there is some response (crossbacks / postbacks that doesn't end session). 3) Second browser tab is active, there is some activity that doesn't end session. 4) However, first browser tab is inactive and counter is "thinking" that session should be closed, it displays appropriate message and then logout user. This is not what we want. So the given approach is just some session timeout fix, but if user is active in another tab, then application will logout user anyway. That is not the desired thing. We have a Report Page. It functions so that it opens report in a new tab/window. And it could be run quite long. Report section take care of some callbacks, so session wont end in this tab. However, it would end in the second tab.

I want change the Firefox connection timeout value to 20 seconds. • How to implement thread timeout in J2ME?

  I am using Connector in J2ME and found that sometimes it take a very long time to send a request, and sometime it may halt the whole process. So I try to put code related to Connector in a thread and try to set timeout to the thread. But I found out that it's very difficult to do this in J2ME because there's no join(long) in J2ME. Is there any way to do this? Or any better way to deal with network connection in J2ME? Thanks a lot in advance.

  I have to make a load test for a relatively large number of users so I cant realy use User Parameters pre-processor to parametrize each thread with custom user data. I've read that I should use CSV Data Set Config instead. However I run into a problem with how JMeter interprets the input of this Config. Example: I have a thread group of 3 threads and Loop Count:10 with one HTTP request sampler with server www.example.com and path: \${user}. The csv file (bullet is a single line in file) for CSV Data Set Config to extract the user parameter: 1 2 3 4 5 Expected output is that for thread 1-x the path of the request should be: \x. So the output file should consist of 10 samples per thread namely: for thread 1-1 : 10 requests to www.example.com\1 for thread 1-2 : 10 requests to www.example.com\2 for thread 1-3 : 10 requests to www.example.com\3 but instead i get requests to each \1 - \5 and then to EOF. Does anyone know how to achieve the expected effect with CSV Data Set Config in jmeter 2.9?

  Sometimes my whole Django based site goes into 504 gateway timeout errors so none page can be displayed. Is it possible to write a shell program and cronjob it run every 5 minutes to detect such errors and restart FastCGI process if needed? I'm currently using command below to restart FastCGI in case it's crashed but it doesn't work for above situation because when 504 gateway errors occur, the processes are still running. ps ax | grep -v grep | grep port=8001 > /dev/null || restart_fcgi.sh

• Possible uncommitted transactions causing "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired" erro

  My application requires a user to log in and allows them to edit a list of things. However, it seems that if the same user always logs in and out and edits the list, this user will run into a "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired." error. I've read comments about increasing the timeout period but I've also read a comment about it possibly caused by uncommitted transactions. And I do have one going in the application. I'll provide the code I'm working with and there is an IF statement in there that I was a little iffy about but it seemed like a reasonable thing to do. I'll just go over what's going on here, there is a list of objects to update or add into the database. New objects created in the application are given an ID of 0 while existing objects have their own ID's generated from the DB. If the user chooses to delete some objects, their IDs are stored in a separate list of Integers. Once the user is ready to save their changes, the two lists are passed into this method. By use of the IF statement, objects with ID of 0 are added (using the Add stored procedure) and those objects with non-zero IDs are updated (using the Update stored procedure). After all this, a FOR loop goes through all the integers in the "removal" list and uses the Delete stored procedure to remove them. A transaction is used for all this.   Hi all, On my activity, im getting some big data from web, and while getting this data i want to show the user a ProgressDialog with spinning wheel. That i can do only with putting this code into a thread, right ? the problem is that after im getting this data i need to insert it into my tableLayout as TableRows and it seems impossible to access the TableLayout from the thread. • Unlocking a mutex from a different thread (C++)

  I'm using the C++ boost::thread library, which in my case means I'm using pthreads. Officially, a mutex must be unlocked from the same thread which locks it, and I want the effect of being able to lock in one thread and then unlock in another. There are many ways to accomplish this. One possibility would be to write a new mutex class which allows this behavior. For example: class inter_thread_mutex{ bool locked; boost::mutex mx; boost::condition_variable cv; public: void lock(){ boost::unique_lock<boost::mutex> lck(mx); while(locked) cv.wait(lck); locked=true; } void unlock(){ { boost::lock_guard<boost::mutex> lck(mx); if(!locked) error(); locked=false; } cv.notify_one(); } // bool try_lock(); void error(); etc. } I should point out that the above code doesn't guarantee FIFO access, since if one thread calls lock() while another calls unlock(), this first thread may acquire the lock ahead of other threads which are waiting. (Come to think of it, the boost::thread documentation doesn't appear to make any explicit scheduling guarantees for either mutexes or condition variables). But let's just ignore that (and any other bugs) for now. My question is, if I decide to go this route, would I be able to use such a mutex as a model for the boost Lockable concept. For example, would anything go wrong if I use a boost::unique_lock< inter_thread_mutex for RAII-style access, and then pass this lock to boost::condition_variable_any.wait(), etc. On one hand I don't see why not. On the other hand, "I don't see why not" is usually a very bad way of determining whether something will work. The reason I ask is that if it turns out that I have to write wrapper classes for RAII locks and condition variables and whatever else, then I'd rather just find some other way to achieve the same effect.

  Hello, I'm writing a multi-threaded application, where there is a main thread which distributes tasks to the worker threads. According to the task, a worker thread creates a connection, by using a global occi environment. When a worker thread completes its task, it closes the connection (I'm sure, there is no exception thrown while termination). My problem is that after a while(sometimes 5 mins, sometimes 5 hours) the threads cannot get connection from the environment, and they get blocked there. What can be the problem?
