  • How to debug old initd script under systemd?

    I have an older initd script to start my application. It worked fine under older versions of SuSE, but fails on Open SuSE 12.3. The strange thing is cd /etc/init.d ; ./script start works fine. /etc/init.d/script start shows a redirection to systemctl, but doesn't start my application (and also doesn't show any output from the initd script). I don't see any log entries showing me what goes wrong. The only entry I see is in /var/log/messages saying the application was started. How do I debug this ?

  • rsync synchronizing files only without creating folders on destination

    Is it possible with rsync to not create directories on destination? Imagine I have that source : a/ a/x.txt b/ b/y.txt And that I have this destination : a/ a/z.txt The wanted result of rsync source destination : a/ a/x.txt a/z.txt Of course my real situation involves thousand files/folders structure and I don't want solutions involving explicit list of synced folders, which I can do. I'm looking for a clean way just to prevent any folder creation on destination. By exclude or filtering... That could even be something outside rsync, like a hack with permissions if rsync can't do this... For information, this is really easy to get this kind of situations, in my case I have: A server with 2 disks, let's say A & B. And a local drive C. I usually use rsync to sync (and merge) remote A & B into local C. Then sometimes I just want to sync back some C files into A and B. (Just new Files... not non-existing folders on destination)

  • How to make firefox proxy authentication fail silently?

    At work, certain protocols are blocked, and websites that I visit try to access these protocols with Javascript. These sites work fine when these requests fail (except for whatever it's trying to do with the requests), but I have to click cancel on a multitude of proxy authentication dialogs. What I want to do is just have firefox silently ignore this, so I can use the website without having to click cancel 8 times on every action I make (this includes all the stack overflow style sites which is trying to make requests with the ws: protocol).

  • SSH logins failing before success

    I am running Ubuntu 12.04 Server, updated, to run a webserver on Tomcat 7. I have about 1000 clients that are very very often using an RSYNC program to sync some file with this server. Those RSync are using SSH with a certain user to open connections on the server. The result is that my server is, as normal, full of connections by the same user. About 5 connections per 1 second every day any time. Then, when I try to open a regular SSH connection with my Putty client, the connection fails before login saying "Server unexpectedly closed network connection", about 6 times for 10 attemps, anbd for 4 attemps out of 10, it works normally and I am able to login as any user. Is there a overload of connections here? The server statistics are very calm saying less then 40% of network usage and less of 2% CPU. How can I improve this? Thank you for any help. V.

  • Potential issues to consider when using debootstrap for different Ubuntu distros

    We currently run Lucid on top of Xen. Using debootstrap, we have created many jailed environments for Lucid (10.04), Maverick (10.10) and Natty (11.04). We're considering creating an Oneiric environment as well. However, we're beginning to wonder what the consequences of doing so are. What incompatibilities should we watch out for? The Lucid base runs on the 2.6.32 Kernel, and happens to be running on Amazon EC2 (Xen). We realize that Oneiric when installed from scratch comes with the 3.0 Kernel. Also, if we were to upgrade the Lucid base to Oneiric (including the Kernel), what would we have to watch out for to ensure that the Lucid, Maverick, and Natty jailed environments still work fine?

    The vital stats: Mythbuntu 10.10 (maverick) XBMC 11 -- from team-xbmc maverick ppa Mythtv 0.23.1+fix (the standard version for mythbuntu 10.10) Mythbox version 1.1.0 OK, so, I was happily going along running XBMC 10.1 on my HTPC setup, and I saw everyone was all excited about XBMC 11, and it was available from the PPA. Now, when I go into mythbox and select a recording, it shows me the following error message box: Error: oninit cannot import name decodeLongLong This only seems to affect its ability to show a thumbnail picture for the recording. When I start playing the recording, everything pretty much goes fine. What does this error message mean? Is there any way I can fix it? Is there a library I am missing or something?

  • How to disable the second partition without unmount it in Mac?

    I've installed OSX Yosemite in another partition in my Mac. But there is a problem. For example, I installed iBooks in both partition. When I right click one of my epub or pdf file, both iBooks are shown in my context menu. This is not what I want. What I want is to only allow the apps in Yosemite shown. Of course I can disable apps in my old Maverick partition by unmount the volume. But again this is not what I want because it will hide the partition when I boot my machine so that I can't boot up into my Maverick partition. Can anybody advise if there are any better ideas? I've had a similar problem before, on a different machine, running openbox. On that machine, this problem started when I upgraded to Lucid, and has persisted in Maverick (release 10.10). I reported a bug in xorg. However, it remains unclear whether it's really a problem with xorg, or if I'm just doing something wrong with my configuration. Have other people experienced this problem? Can someone shed some light on what's going on here? It seems there are quite a few layers involved, and I don't understand any of them particularly well, so any information would be helpful. update I've discovered that the problem is specifically triggered by adding the Canada layout variant "Multilingual" (ca-multix). If I instead add the variant "Multilingual (first part)", the problem does not occur. I think this will probably end up being a usable workaround, but I don't yet know what the difference between these variants is. I've filed a freedesktop issue, and am commenting on a related ubuntu issue.

    I'm working with adobe air and I have this code.. var urlReq = new air.URLRequest('http://google.com'); air.navigateToURL(urlReq); It's working correctly in that it is loading the page in the browser, but the issue is that adobe air is staying in the front and the browser is not being brought to the front... Perhaps it's because I'm working in runtime and not a complied app? (just off to try that now)

    Hi, I'm a bit confused about a strange behavior of my JPA's related objects. I have three bundle : The User bundle does contain some user-related objects, but mainly the User object. The Energy bundle does contain some energy-related objects, and particularly a ConsumptionTerminal which contains a List of User. The Index bundle does contain an Index object that has no dependency at all. My OSGi environment is the following : A DataSource bundle that provide 2 services : dataSource and jpaVendorAdapter. The three bundles. They consume dataSource and jpaVendorAdapter. And finally, I'm using EclipseLink as Jpa provider and Spring DM (+ Spring DM Server in the development process) The problem is the following : When the User bundle is deployed, I'm able to persist User objects. When the User bundle and Energy bundles are both deployed, I'm not able to persist User objects (neither the Energy object). But I don't have any exception at all ! There is no problem at all with the Index bundle. The bug is dataSource independent (I tried with PostgreSQL and MySQL so far). My first conclusion was that the <class>net.nextep.amundsen.security.domain.User</class> in both persistence unit was causing the trouble. I tried without it (and hiding the User dependent object in the Energy bundle) but it failed too. I'm a bit confused about that bug. I'm also not quite sure about the transaction management in this context. I wasn't the one who designed this architecture (but I tell my intern OK without testing it.. shame on me) but if I could understand this bug and maybe fix it without rewrite the bundle (and break my intern work), I would appreciate. Am I doing something wrong ? (it's obvious, but what..) Did I miss something while reading documentation ? By the way, I'm also looking for some best practices or advices when it comes to JPA, EclipseLink (or whatever JPA Provider) and Spring DM (and OSGi in general). I found interesting slides from Mike Keith about this topic (by browsing Stackoverflow).

(Translated from french) I then replaced "Open" wirh "OpenAsync" which helped not getting the previous exception. But when on Invoke I get the following exception : InvalidRunspaceStateException "Unable to call the pipeline because its state of execution is not Opened. Its current state is Opening." (Also translated from french) I'm clueless... Any help welcome !!! Thanks !!!

  • Get ListView Visible items

    I have a ListView which might contains a lot of items, so it is virtualized and recycling items. It does not use sort. I need to refresh some value display, but when there are too many items, it is too slow to update everything, so I would like to refresh only the visible items. How could I get a list of all currently displayed items ? I tried to look into the ListView or in the ScrollViewer, but I still have no idea how to achieve this. The solution must NOT go through all items to test if they can be seen, because this would be too slow. I'm not sure code or xaml would be usefull, it is just a Virtualized/Recycling ListView with its ItemSource bound to an Array. Edit Answer : thanks to akjoshi, i found the way : get the ScrollViewer of the ListView (with a FindDescendant method, that you can do yourself with the VisualTreeHelper ). Then use its ScrollViewer.VerticalOffset : it is the number of the first item shown and ScrollViewer.ViewportHeight : it is the count of items shown. Rq : CanContentScroll must be true.

I have a Browser class that has functions to check if the user's browser is compatible with application or not. My dilemma is, index.php is executed for every controller call. So there are chances that this file gets executed multiple times within the same page and hence redirection becomes an issue. What's the best way to solve the looping issue? Thanks

The JSON Request and responses are as under: I want to display a JQuery UI progressbar and update the progressbar status, as per the percentage returned in the getStatus JSON response.
