  • Custom PC won't boot Windows 7 dvd but does with windows vista

    I ordered a custom build PC. (It was assembled by the store). This is the setup Motherboard: Asrock A75 PRO4-M DVD drive: LG GH24NS90 SSD: Samsung 830 series 128GB DDR3 SDRAM: 2× Corsair XMS3 CMX4GX3M1A1600C9 (2× 4GB) APU (CPU+GPU): AMD A8-3850 Boxed I got a installation DVD for Windows 7 Professional x64 English (including SP1), but it doesn't work. I got a new one from the store and it doesn't work either. However they work on a other PC. So the DVDs aren't bad. I tried an old installation DVD for Windows Vista. Both 32 bit and 64 bit work. So the boot order and such are right and working on the new PC. Is there something I'm missing here? Any ideas on how to make it work?

    Some softwares contain tests to see if they are running on a virtual machine. It's very unpleasant to see alert messages such as "Sorry, this application cannot run under a Virtual Machine." and have your software stopped! There is a lot of legal reasons to override such tests. Moreover such limitations are (most of the time) not written in User License Agreement. So... how to hide a program that is running on a virtual machine? I'm using a Virtual Private Server (VPS) with Hyper-V... I'm administrator of the Operating System (Windows 2003) installed on this VPS, not administrator of Hyper-V.

    Hi, I have tried running windows xp development virtual machine under windows 7 and the performance was dreadful. I'm considering installing Linux and running the virtual machine from the Linux, but I'm not sure whether I can expect any performance gains? It's a 2.4ghz core 2 duo machine with 4gb ram and 5400 rpm hdd. Can somebody please recommend very cut down version of linux that can run VMWare player and isn't resource hungry? Thank you

  • SDK for writing DVD's

    I need to add DVD writing functionality to an application I'm working on. However it needs to be able to write out files that are being grabbed "live" from a camera, over a long period of time. I can't wait until all the files are captured before I start writing them to the DVD, I need to write them out in chunks as I go along. I've looked at IMAPI v2, but the main problems seems to be that you need to point it to all the files you plan to write out to disk before you start the burning process. I know it has to concept of "sessions", which means you can write to the DVD in several parts, before you finally "close" it. But I was wondering if there were any other DVD writing SDK's that allow you to be constantly writing files to a DVD and in particular files that are only in memory. It would be more efficient if I didn't have to write the captured images out to hard before they are burned to DVD. The solution needs to work under .NET on Windows XP and vista

    I'm trying to figure out how to build my virtual economy. It seems like some games have one currency and some of them have up to 3 and 4 different ones. The game is an action game which is currently single player but I'm planning on adding a tournament mode that allows users to compete against each other. The virtual goods that a user would be able to purchase would be either customization to the character or powerups and utilities that give the character more abilities in the game. The character is able to gain coins during game play. The advice I'm trying to get is whether or not it makes sense to set up more than one currency and more than two currencies? What are the pros and cons? Reference to some resources that indicate research would be great.

    Hi everybody In my windows XP Pro I can't run any .exe file from my DVD Rom, but I can run them on my hard drive, Even I can't copy anything from a DVD to my hard drive. and when I run .exe file there is some prompt message like "setup.exe is not a valid win32 application" or something like that.     A friend of mine likes ripping DVDs to his Mac. He’s currently on an ancient machine, and is about to upgrade to either a MacBook Pro or an iMac. Just wondering if any of the Mac DVD ripping software will rip faster on the iMac (thanks to its four cores), as opposed to the MacBook Pro (a measly two cores)? Or is DVD ripping not that sort of task?

    I have written a data DVD by k3b. When I mount the DVD on my system I can't read and write on it's folders. I tried to set their permissions but it's not possible. I mean that when I set file access to Read and Write and press the Apply permissions to enclosed files button, after a few seconds my new settings (Read and Write) will be reverted to "---". Of course, 30Gb is far too large for a single dvd and the content is already zipped. And choose the output format to be xVid(.avi)<--that is exactly what is written on the application. I don't want to waste a blank dvd and try if it really can be played.     Can anybody suggest me any good and preferably free software - working on Vista / 7 - for recovering content from DVD disks? A few DVD-R VOB files cannot be read from disk by Windows. Probably the camera failed to burn it correctly. What I want to achieve is to skip a few invalid frames in VOB files and recreate proper MPEG stream - without re-encoding whole stream and loosing the quality.
