  • Android Multiple objects in SimpleAdapter

    - by Adam Sherratt
    I have a need (unless you can think of a better way) of passing multiple objects to a custom list adapter. I know that I'm barking up the wrong tree here, and would appreciate someone setting me on the right course! Thanks playlistadapter = new MyPlaylistAdapter(MyApplication.getAppContext(), songsList, retained_songsList, folderMode, R.layout.file_view, new String[] { "songTitle","songAlbum", "songPath" }, new int[] { R.id.checkTextView, R.id.text2, R.id.text3 }); And my adapter class: public class MyPlaylistAdapter extends SimpleAdapter{ private ArrayList <Song> songsList = new ArrayList<Song>(); private ArrayList <Song> retained_songsList = new ArrayList<Song>(); private ArrayList<Song> playlistcheck = new ArrayList<Song>(); private String folderMode; private String TAG = "AndroidMediaCenter"; public MyPlaylistAdapter(Context context,List<Song> SongsList, List<Song> Retained_songsList, String FolderMode,int resource, String[] from, int[] to) { super(context, null, resource, from, to); songsList.clear(); songsList.addAll(SongsList); Log.i(TAG, "MyPlayListAdapter Songslist = " + songsList.size()); retained_songsList.clear(); retained_songsList.addAll(Retained_songsList); folderMode = FolderMode; } public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) { //PlayListViewHolder holder; CheckedTextView checkTextView; TextView text2; TextView text3; if (convertView == null) { LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater) MyApplication.getAppContext().getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); //LayoutInflater inflater=getLayoutInflater(); convertView=inflater.inflate(R.layout.file_view, parent, false); //convertView.setBackgroundColor(0xFF00FF00 ); //holder = new PlayListViewHolder(); checkTextView = (CheckedTextView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.checkTextView); text2 = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.text2); text3 = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.text3); //convertView.setTag(holder); } else { //holder = (PlayListViewHolder) convertView.getTag(); } //put something into textviews String tracks = null; String tracks_Details = null; String trackspath = null; tracks = songsList.get(position).getSongTitle(); tracks_Details = songsList.get(position).getAlbum() + " (" + songsList.get(position).getArtist() + ")"; trackspath = songsList.get(position).getSongPath(); checkTextView = (CheckedTextView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.checkTextView); text2 = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.text2); text3 = (TextView) convertView.findViewById(R.id.text3); checkTextView.setText(tracks); if(folderMode.equals("Playlists")){ checkTextView.setBackgroundColor(Color.GREEN); checkTextView.setChecked(false); try { int listsize_rs = retained_songsList.size(); for (int j = 0; j<listsize_rs;j++){ if((retained_songsList.get(j).getSongPath()).equals(songsList.get(position).getSongPath())){ checkTextView.setBackgroundColor(Color.TRANSPARENT); //Need to check here whether the checkedtextview is ticked or not checkTextView.setChecked(true); playlistcheck.add(songsList.get(position)); break; } } } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } }else { //Need to check here whether the checkedtextview is ticked or not try { if (songsList.get(position).getSongCheckedStatus()==true){ checkTextView.setChecked(true); }else{ checkTextView.setChecked(false); } } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } text2.setText(tracks_Details); text3.setText(trackspath); Log.i(TAG, "MyPlayListAdapter Songslist = " + songsList.size());   • android & libgdx - disable blurry images rendering

    - by android developer
i'm trying out libgdx as an opengl wrapper , and i have some issues with its graphical rendering : for some reason , all images (textures) on android device look a little blurred using libgdx . this also includes text (font) . however, for normal images , even though i show the entire image , i expect it to look as sharp as i see it on a computer , especially if i have such a good screen on the device (it's galaxy nexus) . i've tried to set the anti-aliasing off , by using the next code : final AndroidApplicationConfiguration androidApplicationConfiguration=new AndroidApplicationConfiguration(); androidApplicationConfiguration.numSamples=0; //tried the value of 1 too. ... i've also tried to set the scaling method to various methods , but with no luck. example: texture.setFilter(TextureFilter.Nearest,TextureFilter.Nearest); as a test , i've found a sharp image that is exactly the same as the seen resolution on the device (720x1184 for galaxy nexus , because of the buttons bar) , and i've put it to be on the background of the libgdx app . of course , i had to add extra blank space in order for the texute to be loaded , so the final size of the image (which will include content and empty space) is still a power of 2 for both width and height (1024x2048 in my case) . on the desktop app , it look ok . on the device , it looked blurred. a weird thing that i've noticed is that when i change the device's orientation (horizontal <= vertical) , for the very short time before the rotating animation starts , i see both the image and the text very well . can anyone please help me?

  • Using android native button icons

am i allowed (legally) to use graphics/icons from the android source for a commercial application, in order to blend in nicely with the android look&feel? i am talking specifically about the plus/minus buttons from the edit_contacts activity in the contacts application. OR: is there a way to let a button look like (ie with a style) these buttons without copying the .png - files? trying to use android:background="@android:drawable/btn_circle" gives me Error: Resource is not public. Does this answer my question?

  • Splitting android application in to two 'branches', free and paid.

    - by Alxandr
I've developed an android-application that I'dd like to put up on the marketplace. However, I want to split it into two separate applications, one free (with ads), and one paid (logically without ads). How would I go about doing that? I'm not wondering about adding ads (I've alreaddy managed that), but how to take one existing android-application (eclipse-project) and split it into two without having to create a new project and just copy-paste every file one by one (or in batch for that matter). Is that possible? Btw, I use GIT for SCM, so I've made two separate branches, one master and one free, but I need to set some cind of config-value that makes shure that the market separates them as two different applications. Also, when a user 'upgrades', is it possible to copy the db from the free app to the paid one?

  • Automated testing in Android development

    - by Sara
I have an ordinary project with JUnit tests that are connected to the classes in my Android Project. I want my server to run some JUnit tests in my testproject everytime I commit my code from my Android Project. Is there a best practise to do this? So far I only managed to run the tests when they are a part of a while the JUnit tests and Android classes are separated into 2 different projects, since JUnit runs on JVM and Android in an emulator on DVM (Dalvik Virtual Machine).

  • Enable real fixed positioning on Samsung Android browsers

    - by Mr. Shiny and New ??
The Android browser, since 2.2, supports fixed positioning, at least under certain circumstances such as when scaling is turned off. I have a simple HTML file with no JS, but the fixed positioning on three Samsung phones I've tried is simply wrong. Instead of true fixed positioning, the header scrolls out of view then pops back into place after the scrolling is done. This doesn't happen on the Android SDK emulator for any configuration I've tested (2.2, 2.3, 2.3 x86, 4.0.4). It also doesn't happen when using the WebView in an app on the Samsung phones: in those cases the positioning works as expected. Is there a way to make the Samsung Android "stock" browser use real fixed positioning? I've tested: 1. Samsung Galaxy 551, Android 2.2 2. Samsung Galaxy S, Android 2.3 3. Samsung Galaxy S II, Android 2.3 Sample code: <html> <head> <meta name="viewport" content="initial-scale=1.0,maximum-scale=1.0,user-scalable=no,width=device-width,height=device-height"> <style> h1 { position: fixed; top: 0; left: 0; height: 32px; background-color: #CDCDCD; color: black; font-size: 32px; line-height: 32px; padding: 2px; width: 100%; margin: 0;} p { margin-top: 36px; } </style> </head> <body> <h1>Header</h1> <p>Long text goes here</p> </body> </html> The expected behaviour is that the grey header fills the top of the screen and stays put no matter how much you scroll. On Samsung Android browsers it seems to scroll out of view then pop back into place once the scrolling is done, as if the fixed-positioning is being simulated using Javascript, which it isn't. Edit Judging by the comments and "answers" it seems that maybe I wasn't clear on what I need. I am looking for a meta tag or css rule/hack or javascript toggle which turns off Samsung's broken fixed-positioning and turns on the Android browser's working fixed-positioning. I am not looking for a Javascript solution that adds broken fixed-positioning to a browser that has no support whatsoever; the Samsung fixed-positioning does that already, it just looks stupid.

  • How do I antialias the clip boundary on Android's canvas?

    - by Jesse Wilson
I'm using Android's android.graphics.Canvas class to draw a ring. My onDraw method clips the canvas to make a hole for the inner circle, and then draws the full outer circle over the hole: clip = new Path(); clip.addRect(outerCircle, Path.Direction.CW); clip.addOval(innerCircle, Path.Direction.CCW); canvas.save(); canvas.clipPath(clip); canvas.drawOval(outerCircle, lightGrey); canvas.restore(); The result is a ring with a pretty, anti-aliased outer edge and a jagged, ugly inner edge: What can I do to antialias the inner edge? I don't want to cheat by drawing a grey circle in the middle because the dialog is slightly transparent. (This transparency isn't as subtle on on other backgrounds.)

  • What are the basics of dealing with user input events in Android?

    - by user279112
Hello. I thought I had understood this question, but something is quite wrong here. When the user (me, so far) tries to press keys, nothing really happens, and I am having a lot of trouble understanding what it is that I've missed. Consider this before I present some code to help clarify my problem: I am using Android's Lunar Lander example to make my first "real" Android program. In that example, of course, there exist a class LunarView, and class nested therein LunarThread. In my code the equivalents of these classes are Graphics and GraphicsThread, respectively. Also I can make sprite animations in 2D just fine on Android. I have a Player class, and let's say GraphicsThread has a Player member referred to as "player". This class has four coordinates - x1, y1, x2, and y2 - and they define a rectangle in which the sprite is to be drawn. I've worked it out so that I can handle that perfectly. Whenever the doDraw(Canvas canvas) method is invoked, it'll just look at the values of those coordinates and draw the sprite accordingly. Now let's say - and this isn't really what I'm trying to do with the program - I'm trying to make the program where all it does is display the Player sprite at one location of the screen UNTIL the FIRST time the user presses the Dpad's left button. Then the location will be changed to another set position on the screen, and the sprite will be drawn at that position for the rest of the program invariably. Also note that the GraphicsThread member in Graphics is called "thread", and that the SurfaceHolder member in GraphicsThread is called "mSurfaceHolder". So consider this method in class Graphics: @Override public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent msg) { return thread.keyDownHandler(keyCode, msg); } Also please consider this method in class GraphicsThread: boolean keyDownHandler(int keyCode, KeyEvent msg) { synchronized (mSurfaceHolder) { if (keyCode == KeyEvent.KEYCODE_DPAD_LEFT) { player.x1 = 100; player.y1 = 100; player.x2 = 120; player.y2 = 150; } } return true; } Now then assuming that player's coordinates start off as (200, 200, 220, 250), why won't he do anything different when I press Dpad: Left? Thanks!

Using the same architecture, we are unable to run the same in Kubuntu. We have the same setup in Kubuntu. Can someone let us know, if there are packages with same name.. Then what package will the adb shell point? How will the emulator connect with adb shell from cmd line? DO we need to do any changes to do so in Kubuntu ?

  • List of existing Android Virtual Devices empty

    - by sunpech
I'm new to Android development and I'm currently going through some tutorials. When I setup a new Android Project in Eclipse, and select Windows - Android SDK and AVD Manager, in Virtual Devices, the list of existing Android Virtual Devices is empty. Is it supposed to be? From the pictures in the tutorial, it's pre-populated. Can I download these AVDs from somewhere, am I missing something here? Also, I'm developing this on my Macbook Pro.
