  • Scroll returns to default after display:none in Chrome/IE

    Here's the example: http://jsfiddle.net/sammy/RubNy/ Scroll down in the div container. Then click anywhere in the window to hide the element. Then click once more to show the element. You'll notice in Chrome/IE that the scroll is reset, but in Firefox, the scroll remains how you left it. Which is the standards behavior, Chrome/IE or Firefox? Should I report this to the Chrome issue tracker? Thanks in advance for any help on this, and happy new year, and thanks again, and cheers, and stuff. =D

  • JQuery div tag has children in FireFox but not Chrome

    I am using JQuery ajax to load images from a url, display them, and then place a button on top of each image. The code works in firefox, but in chrome, the div parent "photos" that should have all the children(one child div "photo" for each image received from the url) is 0. I have tried read() and load(), but nothing seems to work. If I run alert($('#photos').children().size()); in the Chrome console it returns the children. But at execution it returns 0.     I have a website at bgflirt.com that appears differently in FireFox and Chrome. This is how it looks in firefox: and here's how it looks in chrome: As you can see, in chrome (and safari) the page is not stretched to fit the entire screen. I'm using this code for positioning the div containing the flash on the right: <div style="width: 200px; position: absolute; right: 0px; top: 10px; overflow: hidden;"> </div> The page should look the way it does in firefox, in all browsers. Any ideas on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated !

  • Using wget to save sequential files as well as renaming the file extension

    I run a cron job that requests a snapshot from a remote webcam at a local address: wget http://user:[email protected]/snapshot.cgi This creates the files snapshot.cgi, snapshot.cgi.1, snapshot.cgi.2, each time it's run. My desired result would be for the file to be named similar to file.1.jpg, file.2.jpg. Basically, sequentially or date/time named files with the correct file extension instead of .cgi. Any ideas?

But I want it to print an argument (full path) with another extension, e.g. .exe. For the upper example, I want it to print C:\Path\To\File\Filename.exe. How to make it do that?

    My broadband speed is sometimes lacking, and therefore it can be difficult to view Flash streams of programmes. So my idea is to start a Flash stream, let it run to completion no matter how long it takes, and then view the temporary .swf file. I've discovered the location of my Google Chrome temporary files. However, there is no file type associated with these files. Therefore, I'm wondering if the idea above will work, and how can I retrieve only .swf files?

  • Receiving SSL certificate errors only from some clients

    I am receiving SSL certificate errors from Chrome (latest version (23.0.1271.52 beta-m) and Internet Explorer 6 (not used) on my home desktop machine (Windows XP SP2). In Firefox, it works fine on this PC. My laptop and work desktop (both Windows 7) work fine. Most SSL website checking sites report that the certificate and chain up to the root CA are setup correctly, but I have come across 2 that that say I have an invalid certificate but don't give much information on what part is failing. I know it used to work properly on this desktop (in Chrome and IE) in the past, but I'm not sure what has changed that is causing the site to fail in these browsers. Can anyone provide any assistance? This is driving me nuts! Screenshot of error:

    I'm using the latest Chrome dev build on Mac OS X. Recently, I've been getting this message on any HTTPS webpage when I visit it the first time: The site's security certificate is not trusted! You attempted to reach checkout.google.com, but the server presented a certificate issued by an entity that is not trusted by your computer's operating system. This may mean that the server has generated its own security credentials, which Google Chrome cannot rely on for identity information, or an attacker may be trying to intercept your communications. You should not proceed, especially if you have never seen this warning before for this site. Why is this here, and how can I fix it? It may be because of my development build, but many other people use the dev version also, and I expect it would be fixed quicker then this.
