• Facebook Connect: Redirect to FB login page instead of popup

  I'm just starting of to get Facebook connect to work. One thing that really bugs me, is that when I click the FB login button, it opens up a popup. I would much more prefer to have the user redirected to FB, where he can login and be sent back to my site. • Pidgin getting "Connection Refused" whenever I connect to IRC server

  On my win 7 x64 machine using pidgin 2.6.3 I cannot connect to any IRC server. I have tried most of the North American servers, as well as my workplace's internal server with no luck. I have tried from work as well as from home but different networks have no effect. I keep getting Unable to Connect: Connection refused. It work fine 3 weeks ago on this very machine running Win 7 x64. But then I re-imaged, and did not backup my .purple folder. Which I had used for the past 2 years and originally created on a vista install. I can connect using this install of Pigin to yahoo and msn with no problems. Just not to irc. Any thoughts?

  Hello, I have a laptop with a Windows XP Tablet Edition installed. I have several users setup on the laptop (mostly me and my kids). When I try to connect to its administrative share via \DadLaptop\c$ from a Windows 2000 Professional machine, it prompts me for a user name and password. However, after I enter it, it always tells me "incorrect password or unknown username". As a test I setup another share, called "test" and tried to connect to that. It worked fine, didn't even ask me for a password, just connected to it and that's that. All the networking is wireless. I am connecting with an admin account (admin on the target computer). What am I missing? Why can't I connect to an administrative share?

  hi all, I have a SQL Server Express 2005 install on a godaddy virtual terminal which currently is only connected to(locally with mgt studio) every few days or so. Every time i try to connect I get a cannot connect to SQL Server error and after a restart it I can connect just fine locally. I was wondering if there is a timeout setting or something that I am missing that I need to change so that if it is not connected to for a while it does not required a restart? any ideas? thanks!

  We're using Nagios to monitor some of our web sites. We have a script that uses the older plugin that we are trying to switch to using webinject.pl from cpan. When the script runs, it generates this error: LWP::Protocol::https::Socket: SSL connect attempt failed with unknown error error:1407741A:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:tlsv1 alert decode error at /usr/local/share/perl5/LWP/Protocol/http.pm line 51. It appears the web site does not support TLSv1 for https. If it matters, the site is a Cisco WebVPN. I've pointed the same script at a different site that does support TLSv1 and it seems to work fine. My web search is coming up empty.   I'm trying to connect to my office VPN from home. One small problem: my home desktop uses Vista (64-bit, Ultimate edition). On Vista, you're supposed to set up a VPN like so: Open the control panel Click on Network Click on "Connect to a Network" Configure a new connection of type "Office" The problem is, when I click on the link for "Connect to a Network", nothing happens. Can anyone suggest how I should go about troubleshooting this? (Or am I better off just upgrading to Windows 7?)

• How can I configure a Linksys EA4500 + usb printer for network printing (without connect cloud)

  The documentation and classic firmware (2.0.37) for Cisco's Linksys EA4500 is a bit sparse on setup details. It says I can connect a USB-printer, but then goes on to try to sell "Connect Cloud" remote management software. I don't want that. I just want to know how to set this up with the existing advanced firmware. Is it possible? AFAIK, to setup a IPP or LDP printer, there is usually some kind of queue configuration on the server (i.e. the ea4500 in this case), but I can't find it in the firmware. I also have been unable to find any existing protocols from win7 or mac osx. (windows network share, IPP/LDP etc.) I'm curious if I need to have the "Storage" accounts active and connect to my router either via the local IP or router name. There's a lot of unknowns here; it would help to know how this particular router actually works.

Because I got this error while I tried following this instruction: Give the IP address, username and password of the remote machine that you would like to convert and then hit next I got this error in vmware converter: Unable to connect the specified host 10.0.2.15 which is the ip address of the xp machine inside virtual box. It also said that there is a network configuration problem. And when I inputted the ip address from whatismyip.com which should be the same as the ip address on local machine. I didn't get the previous error but I got another one, it said that: insufficient permissions to connect to "ip address" What solution can you suggest for this problem?

  I'm just starting out on a mission to learn more about networking and I've followed a tutorial (http://raspberrypihq.com/how-to-turn-a-raspberry-pi-into-a-wifi-router/) to turn my Raspberry Pi into a wifi router. That worked really well so I modified it slightly so that I can use a tethered iphone for the internet connection - I just switched all "eth0" references to "eth1" (the iphone interface) and added a script to set everything up when the phone is plugged in. This setup has freed up the Pi's ethernet port so I'd like to try and take this a step further and allow devices plugged into it to connect to the network. If possible, I'd like to try adding a switch so I can connect multiple devices. I've tried fiddling around with nat & iptables with no luck so my question is, how can I connect devices on eth0 to my wlan network?

  I have a nokia N97. In my apartment there's a wifi network that we all use to connect to the internet. But for the past few days my laptop is not able to find the network..Initially I thought it was a problem of the network,but hen I found out that others were able to use it..My vista os laptop is able to detect other available networks but not the required one..Then i tried to connect my cell phone to the network and it did easily!! I tried restoring the network settings to default but it showed the network for just 2 mins and it ws back to square one.. I wanted to know can I connect my laptop to the cell using USB and browse internet through that?? I have done it when I used GPRS but am not sure if it cn be done in this situation when the cell is connected toa wifi network..plz help..

If I try to connect from my computer to the Cassandra node through the ruby gem cassandra, I can connect perfectly, if I try to to the same from the ruby gem cassandra in the server, it says that there is no listening on 127.0.0.1. I can connect locally to the instance using telnet 127.0.0.1 9160 and it works... any idea? Thank you!

What program do I use to connect to the macbook at full (1920x1080) resolution. I can use remote desktop and connect from the dell laptop to another dell laptop that has a 1440x900 max. resolution. However in case of Remote desktop connection I can expand the window to be 1920x1080. I'm using TightVNC viewer on Windows. Thanks

  Hello, I am running IIS and SQL Server 2008 Express on my Windows 7 host, and I'd like to be able to connect to them in XP Mode. My host machine is not a part of a domain, only a workgroup. So far, I've tried these instructions on connecting to SQL Server, but I'm not able to telnet to port 1433 on the host from XP Mode. I'm also not able to connect using a SQL client. • Public IP shows strange characters and Facebook registers logged-in session to a different location

  I'm encountering some IP strangeness today and hoping to find an explanation. In short, I'm based in Seattle, WA with my ISP being Comcast. While browsing Facebook's account settings, I noticed that my active session was located to Mount Laurel, NJ. At that point I ran a search in Google for 'my public IP', which returned an interesting result: a string of characters in the following format: 2601:8:b000:xxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx Normally, a search for my IP returns something like: 67.xxx.xx.xxx A phone call to Comcast got me nowhere, but using Comcast's phone-menu debugging tools, I was able to send a 'refresh signal' to my modem. After that, the search for 'my public IP' yielded the expected result... for about 5 minutes, and then it returned to the new string of characters. Does anyone know of an explanation for this?

• Can't connect to my FTP server, why?

  I have a windows 2008 server running with FTP 7 on IIS 7. I have it configured to connect as it is out of the box, with a particular user (lets say john) with read/write access. When I use my FileZilla client software, I can connect to the server as john just fine. No problems at all. However, when I try to connect using Windows Explorer or using the cmd prompt I get stone walled, saying "Login failed". My client machine is Windows Vista Ultimate. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

I have a server inside my intranet, in wich i have apache running with some web applications. when i'm at office the url i use to connect is zeus.mydomain.it, it works couse i have in my /etc/hosts a record 192.168.0.11 zeus.mydomain.it, but obviously it does not work when i'm outside in different network. i have a internet connectino with static ip, so i can connect to my intranet form outside. the question is: how can i connect to the intranet server using zeus.mydomain.it from inside and from outside my intranet ? thanks!!
