  • Showing value of UISlider inside App Prefs?

    I have a settings bundle, working perfectly, that I would like to customize a bit. I have, among other things, a PSSliderSpecifier and a PSTitleValueSpecifier. What I would like to do is change the value of the PSTitleValueSpecifier to show the current value of the slider, preferably updating every time the slider's value changes (Actually, what I'd like even more would be displaying the slider's value on the same row as the slider). I know the settings bundle is rather strict about what you're allowed to do in it, but is there any way of doing this?

The warning it gives me is 'UITextView' may not respond to '-stringByAppendingString:' When I replace output with at string it works though and that confused me. Any suggestions?     I have a requirement to build an extensible wizard in a portlet. This wizard will list components that are installed and forward the user to a sub-wizard that is component specific. The requirement is that the components are to be developed by other people and dynamically plugged into this wizard (Jetspeed reboot is okay). I would like to be able to define the components as portlets themselves who's content is rendered into the primary portlet. Has anybody ever done something like this?

  • HttpWebResponse get mixed up when used inside multiple threads

    In my Application I have a few threads who will get data from a web service. Basically I just open an URL and get an XML output. I have a few threads who do this continuously but with different URLs. Sometimes the results are mixed up. The XML output doesn't belong to the URL of a thread but to the URL of another thread. In each thread I create an instance of the class GetWebPage and call the method Get from this instance. The method is very simple and based mostly on code from the MSDN documentation. (See below. At least I don't see any. The url is the service I call in the internet and buffer is the XML Output from the server. Like I said I have multiple instances of this class/method in a few threads (10 to 12) and sometimes buffer does not belong the the url of the same thread but another thread.

If I put the Separator just before the StackPanel begins, it will show up. Why does this happen? Is there a style setting that can be applied somewhere to avoid this?

  • How to rate-limit concurrent sessions with nginx or haproxy?

    I'm currently using nginx to reverse-proxy requests from web clients that are doing long-polling to an upstream. Since we're doing long polling (as opposed to websockets), when a client connects it will make multiple http connections to the server in serial, re-establishing a connection every time the server sends it some data (or timing out and re-establishing if the server has nothing to say for 10 seconds). What I'd like to do is limit the number of concurrent web clients. Since the clients are constantly making new HTTP requests instead of keeping a single request open, it's a little tricky to count the total number of web clients (because it's not the same as total number of concurrently connected http clients). The method I've come up with is to track http requests by the originating IP address, and store the IP address somewhere with a TTL of 20 seconds. If a request comes in whose IP isn't recognized, then we check the total number of unexpired stored IP addresses; if that's less than the maximum then we allow this request through. And if a request comes in with an IP address that we can find in the look-up table that hasn't yet expired, then it is allowed through as well. All requests that are allowed through have their IPs added to the table (if not there before) and the TTL refreshed to 20 seconds again. I had actually whipped something together that worked correctly this way using nginx along with the Redis 2.0 Nginx Module (and the nginx lua module to simplify the conditional branching), using redis to store my IP addresses with a TTL (the SETEX command), and checking the table size with the DBSIZE command. This worked but the performance was horrible. nginx and redis ended up using lots of cpu and the machine could only handle a very small number of concurrent requests. The new stick-table and tracking counters that were added to Haproxy in version 1.5 (via a commission from serverfault) seem like they might be ideal to implement exactly this sort of rate limiting, because the stick-table can track IP addresses and automatically expire entries. However, I don't see an easy way to get a total count of the unexpired entries in the stick table, which would be necessary to know the number of connected web clients. I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions, for nginx or haproxy or even for something else not mentioned here that I haven't thought of yet.

  • scanf segfaults and various other anomalies inside while loop

    while(1){ //Command prompt char *command; printf("%s>",current_working_directory); scanf("%s",command);<--seg faults after input has been received. printf("\ncommand:%s\n",command); } I am getting a few different errors and they don't really seem reproducible(except for the segfault at this point .<). This code worked fine about 10 minutes ago, then it infinite looped the printf command and now it seg faults on the line mentioned above. The only thing I changed was scanf("%s",command); to what it currently is. If I change the command variable to be an array it works, obviously this is because the storage is set aside for it. 1) I got prosecuted about telling someone that they needed to malloc a pointer* (But that usually seems to solve the problem such as making it an array) 2) the command I am entering is "magic" 5 characters so there shouldn't be any crazy stack overflow. 3) I am running on mac OSX 10.6 with newest version of xCode(non-OS4) and standard gcc 4) this is how I compile the program: gcc --std=c99 -W sfs.c Just trying to figure out what is going on. Being this is for a school project I am never going to have to see again, I will just code some noob work around that would make my boss cry :) But for afterwards I would love to figure out why this is happening and not just make some fix for it, and if there is some fix for it why that fix works.

  • Silverlight WinDg Memory Release Issue

    Hi, I have used WinDbg succesfully on a number of occasions to track down and fix memory leaks (or more accurately the CLRs inability to garbage collect a released object), but am stuck with one particular control. The control is displayed within a child window and when the window is closed a reference to the control remains and cannot be garbage collected. I have resolved what I believe to be the majority of the issues that could have caused the leak, but the !gcroot of the affected object is not clear (to me at least) as to what is still holding on to this object.     Continuing my quest of learning Java by doing a simple game, i stumbled upon a little issue. My gameboard extends JPanel as well as each piece of the board. Now, this presents some problems: Cant set size of each piece, therefore, each piece JPanel ocupy the whole JFrame, concealing the rest of the pieces and the background (gameboard). Cant set the position of the pieces. I have the default flow manager. Tried setbounds and no luck. Perhaps i should make the piece to extend other JComponent?

The error occurred while evaluating nil.url_for) on line #5 of app/views/sitemap/_sitemap.builder: I assume this means that ActionController::UrlWriter is not included in the right place, but I really don't know

Any suggestions as to how to be able to affect instance.squeak for any and all instances of MyClass without interference?

Is there a cleaner solution that does not require the preprocessor?

    I'm trying to scrape all the inner html from the <p> elements in a web page using BeautifulSoup. There are internal tags, but I don't care, I just want to get the internal text. For example, for: <p>Red</p> <p><i>Blue</i></p> <p>Yellow</p> <p>Light <b>green</b></p> How can I extract: Red Blue Yellow Light green Neither .string nor .contents[0] does what I need. Nor does .extract(), because I don't want to have to specify the internal tags in advance - I want to deal with any that may occur. Is there a 'just get the visible HTML' type of method in BeautifulSoup? ----UPDATE------ On advice, trying: p_tags = page.findAll('p',text=True) for i, p_tag in enumerate(p_tags): print str(p_tag) But that doesn't help - it just prints out: Red <i>Blue</i> Yellow Light <b>green</b>
