  • apply style to range of text with javascript in uiwebview

    I am displaying some simple styled text as html in a UIWebView on iPhone. It is basically a series of paragraphs with the occasional strong or emphasized phrase. At runtime I need to apply styles to ranges of text. There are a few similar scenarios, one of which is highlighting search results. If the user has searched for "something" I would like to change the background color behind occurrences of the word, then later restore the original background. Is it possible to apply styles to ranges of text using javascript? A key part of this is also being able to unset the styles. There seem to be two likely paths to follow. One would be modifying some html in Objective-C and passing it through javascript as the new innerHTML of some container. The other would be to use javascript to directly manipulate DOM nodes. I could manipulate html, but that sounds tedious in Objective-C so I would rather manipulate the DOM if that is a reasonable approach. I am not that familiar with javascript and DOM so I do not know if it is a reasonable approach. I wrote some routines to translate between text ranges and node ranges with offsets. So if I start with text range 100-200 and that starts in one paragraph and ends in a third, I can get the text nodes and the offsets within the nodes that represent the given text range. I just need a way to split a text node at an offset in the text. Currently I just apply styles to the paragraphs containing the text range. A few notes: straight javascript please, no external frameworks like jquery. the changes never need to be written to disk. the changes should be undoable or at least removable. the styles to apply already exist in a css file. it needs to work in iPhone 3.0 and forward. all the source files are shipped with the app. please be verbose.     I need to manage my IIS7 (Windows Server 2008) remotely with a WMI IIS6 API. So I added the IIS6 WMI Compatibility and IIS6 Metabase Compatibility roles to access the root\MicrosoftIIsv2 namespace. I have a domain account which is not administrator on the remote machine ; with this right, everything is ok. I configured these rights for my domain account to access the root\MicrosoftIIsv2 WMI namespace remotely ; note that these rights work perfectly on a IIS6 and Windows Server 2003 : DCOM : Account in Distributed COM Users Remote & local access to DCOM WMI : Root\CIMV2 (I need access here too) Execute methods, Enable Account, Remote Enable Root\Default (I need access here too) Execute methods, Enable Account, Remote Enable Root\MicrosoftIISv2 Execute methods, Enable Account, Provider Write, Remote Enable IIS Metabase (Metabase Explorer) : LM Full Control (W3SVC inherits these permissions) I tried to give some access on C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv too ; don't know if needed. My issue is : I can't list the IIS WebSites (\root\MicrosoftIISv2:IIsWebServerSetting.Name="W3SVC/*"). I don't get an 'access denied' but nothing is returned. My API and powershell tests can connect and execute queries in the root\MicrosoftIISv2 namespace I can read the IIsComputer class ex: Get-WmiObject IIsComputer -namespace "ROOT\MicrosoftIISv2" -authentication PacketPrivacy | SELECT * I can't read the IIsWebServerSetting, IIsWebServer ... to list the WebSites : the query returns an empty collection ex: Get-WmiObject IIsWebServerSetting -namespace "ROOT\MicrosoftIISv2" -authentication PacketPrivacy | SELECT ServerComment All queries work perfectly if the account is administrator as already said I am using PacketPrivacy authentication FI: I got a Warning Event 5605 with the Administrator right or not, that does not seem to have an impact : The root\MicrosoftIISv2 namespace is marked with the RequiresEncryption flag. Access to this namespace might be denied if the script or application does not have the appropriate authentication level. Change the authentication level to Pkt_Privacy and run the script or application again Ok, I have some more informations, when I use IIS 6 Metabase Explorer with my administrator account I can see the rights are correctly inherited for my non-administrator account. But when I try to connect using my non-administrator account, I can list the LM node, but get an "access denied, failed to get a key's data" when I try to browse the child nodes. I'll check further. I tried to Trace the WMI Activity, and everything seems OK ; this tends to confirm that the problem lies in IIS Rights.

    i noticed that Firefox, unlike Chrome and Internet Explorer, doesn't run in the Low Mandatory Level (aka Protected Mode, Low Integrity) Google Chrome: Microsoft Internet Explorer: Mozilla Firefox: Following Microsoft's instructions, i can manually force Firefox into Low Integrity Mode by using: icacls firefox.exe /setintegritylevel Low But Firefox doesn't react well to not running with enough rights: i like the security of knowing that my browser is running with less rights than i have. Is there a way to run Firefox into low rights mode? Is Mozilla planning on adding "protected mode" sometime? Has someone found a workaround to Firefox not handling low rights mode? Update From a July 2007 interview with Mike Schroepfer, VP of Engineering at the Mozilla Foundation: ...we also believe in defense in depth and are investigating protected mode along with many other techniques to improve security for future releases. After a year and a half it doesn't seem like it is a priority.

  • emacs, colors in term-mode

    Hello, I use Emacs and I run bash with M-x term command. There is a problem: colors in the *terminal* buffer aren't the same as in Gnome Terminal, and they are worse (do you need a screen shot?).   • User Profile cannot be loaded - Windows 7

    After uninstalling an HP Vector Mouse driver, then rebooting, when Windows tries to auto log me in, i get an error message saying tyhe following: The User Profile Service failed the Login. User Profile cannot be loaded. Due to the fact that it is the only account on this PC, I cannot even go into another account. I rebooted the machine several times, before going into Safe Mode with Networking. For some reason, I cannot create a new account whilst in safe mode (I think it is to do with UAC, nothing with UAC is clickable). Thus, I am stuck. I cannot get into my account, nor can I create a new one to copy files over to. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Ryan EDIT: System Restore was, for some reason turned off. Thus, I cannot restore to a working point.

From the web GUI, Configuration Tab, Port Configuration sub tab, I am only presented with the option to configure the port as Auto - 1000. I take this to mean, auto negotiate duplex, manually configure the speed to be gige. How do I manually configure the port such that it is manually configured to use full duplex, 1000 mbs?

  • 2-Bay External HDD Enclosure in JBOD mode fails to detect both drives (Linux & Windows)

    I recently purchased a couple of USB 3.0 External HDD Enclosures to use for storage and backup; the idea was to have one act as backup to the other, with 4 x 3TB drives in total. However, the second drive in each is not accessible in either Linux nor Windows, and I could not determine the reason. 1. Situation The two enclosures are slightly different (couldn't find them in stock at the same time) yet from many little details appear to be the same Chinese base design with a tweaked outer shell. The models are: Sharkoon 2-Bay RAID Box Fantec MR-35DU3 The drives are Seagate 3TB Barracuda ST33000651AS, firmware CC44, all identical. From reading manuals and online sources, I determined that JBOD would be the optimal setup for my needs -- addressing the two drives separately in each enclosure would be important, making it easy to swap drives and mix&match them if needed; all the other modes implied the controller doing a combination of the drives. The software used was Debian GNU/Linux - testing/wheezy - kernel 2.6.39-2 and Windows 7 Ultimate. 2. Description of the problem Now, here comes the problem: every time I connect either of the enclosures to a PC using the supplied cable (tried a different one as well), only the HDD in the top bay is readable, the one below is detected yet errors out in various ways. According to the manuals, it should not happen: in JBOD, the system should be able to "see" two separate drives upon connection. This happens with both enclosures and any combination of HDDs (i.e. if I swap them, the same thing happens), so the HDDs are good and I think so are the enclosures (two different companies making similar products that failed in an identical fashion would be very unlikely). The top HDD can be used fine every time, I actually tried a speed test from Linux and got about 150MiB/s reads, so all is working as it should; the one below refuses to work every time. So the failure is consistent. To make sure this was not some obscure Linux bug, I tried the same under Windows 7, and the system also only created one drive letter for a drive of 3TB size (so it was only seeing one instead of both). Placing an older, known good, 2TB drive in the top bay made that the one recognised, so we have the same issue under Windows as well. Log entries under Linux (tested here with a 3TB and a 2TB drive so I could differentiate them; either one works in the top enclosure, in the test setup the 3TB one is on top).     Despite what old SE questions state, the PDF software Okular can now write annotations directly to the PDF. This makes it very useful in conjunction with Docear for annotating academic literature. However, Docear imports annotations from the comments, rather than importing from highlighted text. In Okular, when you highlight text it can then be clicked to reveal a comments bubble, which is empty by default. Copying the highlighted text into the resulting bubble allows it to be imported into Docear, but this is laborious. How can I modify the highlight tool to automatically copy the highlighted text into the resulting comment bubble?

  • How to install OpenOffice 3.1 in Headless Mode?

    I need to setup OpenOffice in a linux box that will never have X installed. Every time I run the setup program of the OpenOffice installer it complains that the system does not have an X Terminal. I am using OOo_3.1.0_LinuxIntel_install_wJRE_en-US.tar. I have done this headless install for version 2.4, but we are having some performance issues and we will like to test the 3.1 version. The rpm -i *rpm does not work, since it is also looking for libgnome inside it. We are trying to install the system in a CenOS 5.1. Any ideas are welcome?

  • Using windowmaker with quartz-wm in proxy mode on Snow Leopard

    I can modify my .xinitrc file to exec /opt/local/bin/wmaker, and get WindowMaker 0.90.2 as my window manager in X11.app. I'd like to use quartz-wm not as a window manager, but to provide the pasteboard integration with Aqua using the --only-proxy flag (see the man page). If I add the following line to .xinitrc: exec /usr/bin/quartz-wm --only-proxy & then WindowMaker never starts, complaining that there's already a window manager running. Is it possible to get the two to play nicely together, or is proxy feature part of the Xquartz server now? It seems that the Xquartz manpage has a number of pasteboard-to-clipboard synchronisation settings, but it's not clear whether quartz-wm needs to be running for those to work.

    How do I configure the squid to only request text/html to the parent cache; right now I am using : cache_peer 127.0.0.1 parent 8080 0 no-query no-digest on the second hand I get a lot of direct request that do not use the parent proxy: some queries go like FIRST_UP_PARENT and some like DIRECT, how do I tell the squid to always use parent for text/html BTW .. is a transparent proxy I have tried : cache_peer 127.0.0.1 parent 8080 0 no-query no-digest acl elhtml req_mime_type -i ^text/html$ acl elhtml req_mime_type -i text/html cache_peer_access 127.0.0.1 allow elhtml cache_peer_access 127.0.0.1 deny all and it does not works Thanks in advance for the help.
