• How does string comparison work in OCAML?

  From what I can tell, = and != is supposed to work on strings in OCAML. I'm seeing strange results though which I would like to understand better. When I compare two strings with = I get the results I expect: # "steve" = "steve";; - : bool = true # "steve" = "rowe";; - : bool = false but when I try != I do not: # "steve" != "rowe";; - : bool = true # "steve" != "steve";; (* unexpected - shouldn't this be false? *) - : bool = true Can anyone explain? Is there a better way to do this?

• C# Sharp Windows Application prevents Windows from shutting down / logging off

  I have written a C# Windows Forms application, not a service (it is only used when the user is logged in and has a graphical user interface) that has a background thread running in an infinite loop. When I try shutting down Windows (7) however, it tells me the program is preventing it from shutting down or logging off and asks me whether I want to force a shutdown. Now, is there any possibility for my program to become aware (get a handler) of Windows trying to quit it or to log off? So, what I need is to make the application realize when Windows tries to quit. • Jrun Server crashes when a page has cfform,cfgrid,cflayout etc..

  Hi, I am having a weird problem. I have a application that works perfect in my development machine and UAT machine which is of windows 2003 server/cf8. When i uploaded the same application on Solaris box with CF8, and access the site it works perfect until i hit the page that has CFFORM, CFLAYOUT, CFGRID.. etc.. The Jrun Server just crashes[jrpp-2 unexpected constant#48...]. There is nothing available in any of the logs. Please help me how to resolve this thing...!!   I've written the below makefile: hw2p1: hw2p1_main.o hw2p1_getit.o hw2p1_parseit.o hw2p1_moveit.o hw2p1_showit.o gcc hw2p1_main.o hw2p1_getit.o hw2p1_parseit.o hw2p1_moveit.o hw2p1_showit.o hw2p1_main.o: hw2p1_main.c gcc -c hw2p1_main.c hw2p1_getit.o: hw2p1_getit.c gcc -c hw2p1_getit.c hw2p1_parseit.o: hw2p1_parseit.c gcc -c hw2p1_parseit.c hw2p1_moveit.o: hw2p1_moveit.c gcc -c hw2p1_moveit.c hw2p1_showit.o: hw2p1_showit.c gcc -c hw2p1_showit.c The first time I tried to call make, I got the error: "make: Fatal error: unexpected end of line seen" I deleted the blank lines between targets and called make again, but this time I got " 'ake: Fatal error: Don't know how to make hw2p1_main.c" I've compiled all of these files separately and then linked them so I know that the errors are a result of an incorrect makefile and not a result of errors in my c files. This is the first makefile that I've ever written so I might just be doing it completely incorrectly. Either way, any suggestions on how to get rid of these errors?

• Intercept and ignore keyboard event in Windows 7 32bit

  Hi all, My hardware has a problem, from time to time it's sending a "keydown" followed by a "keyup" of event: keydown: None LButton, OemClear 255 keyup: None LButton, OemClear 255 keydown: None LButton, OemClear 255 keyup: None LButton, OemClear 255 It goes like this forever, in Windows. In general it doesn't affect most of the applications, because this key is not printable. I think it's a special function key, like a media key or something. It doesn't do anything. But, in some applications that LISTEN to keydown and keyup, I get undesire and unexpected behaviour. Is there a way to intercept these 2 events in Windows (for all applications, for Windows itself) and make the OS ignore them? This is really important to me, if you can think of any solution, I'd be forever thankful.

• XQuery - problem with recursive function

  Hi all, Im new on this project and am going to write, what i thought was a simple thing. A recursive function that writes nested xml elements in x levels (denoted by a variable). So far I have come up with this, but keeps getting a compile error. Please note that i have to generate new xml , not query existing xml: xquery version "1.0"; declare function local:PrintTest($amount) { <test> { let $counter := 0 if ($counter <= $amount ) then local:PrintTest($counter) else return $counter := $counter +1 } </test> }; local:PrintPerson(3) My error is: File Untitled1.xquery: XQuery transformation failed XQuery Execution Error! Unexpected token - " ($counter <= $amount ) t" I never understood xquery, and cant quite see why this is not working (is it just me or are there amazingly few resources on the Internet concerning XQuery?)

  Hi, Here is a question about IMFActivate::ActivateObject and IMFActivate::ShutdownObject in Media Foundation. According to MSDN, the component that calls ActivateObject is responsible for calling ShutdownObject. But there are two examples not following this rule: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd388503%28VS.85%29.aspx and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd317912%28VS.85%29.aspx In these two examples, they call ActivateObject and then release IMFActivate interface without calling ShutdownObject method. This is going to lead to memory leaking, right? Or there is another way to release the resource occupied by the object? (Can I use IMFMediaSource::Shutdown to release the object instead of using IMFActivate::ShutdownObject) Thanks in advance.

• Alright to truncate database tables when also using Hibernate?

  Is it OK to truncate tables while at the same time using Hibernate to insert data? We parse a big XML file with many relationships into Hibernate POJO's and persist to the DB. We are now planning on purging existing data at certain points in time by truncating the tables. Is this OK? It seems to work fine. We don't use Hibernate's second level cache. One thing I did notice, which is fine, is that when inserting we generate primary keys using Hibernate's @GeneratedValue where Hibernate just uses a key value one greater than the highest value in the table - and even though we are truncating the tables, Hibernate remembers the prior value and uses prior value + 1 as opposed to starting over at 1. This is fine, just unexpected. Note that the reason we do truncate as opposed to calling delete() on the Hibernate POJO's is for speed. We have gazillions of rows of data, and truncate is just so much faster.

  Hi, my code is fairly well covered with exception handling (try..except). Some exceptions are not expected to happen and some exceptions happen fairly often, which is expected and ok. Now I want to add some automated tests for this code. It would be good to know how many exceptions happened during execution, so I can later see if the expected number was raised or anything unexpected happened. I don't want to clutter every exception handling block with debug code, so my question is: Is there a way to install some kind of global exception handler which sits right before all other exception handling blocks? I am searching for a central place to log these exceptions. Thanks for any suggestions! (And if this matters: it is Delphi 2009)

• Possible apache/mysql/php wrapper?

  I was tasked with writing a smallish program for data input and manipulation. My language of choice happens to be PHP. I have written out the program/site it all works fine is easily portable and everything but have one question. Is there anyway to wrap up apache/mysql/php into a bundle of one exe? I know of MoWes Portable and other options but I am looking to basically wrap everything up into a single exe without much fuss to the end user. My target users are very low on the computer savvy scale. I am trying to avoid a batch file for launching and don't really want them able to shutdown one part on accident and not another (IE shut off mysql but leave apache on).

  I'm getting this error whenever I attempt to declare a class: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home3/foundloc/public_html/booka/page2.php on line 7 (line 7 is the class declaration by the way).   hi, i want to implement a simple web server for my self. i can handle GET and POST request now. but i have no idea what to do with CONNECT request. CONNECT request is send when the client is going to access a https site. according to http://muffin.doit.org/docs/rfc/tunneling_ssl.html, it says i should response '200 Connection established'. but i got 'A TLS packet with unexpected length was received' on the client. the wiki described about the ssl handshake protocol, but it did not mention how to implement it.

• Identifying NHibernate proxy classes

  I'm not an NHibernate user; I write a serialization utility library. A user has logged a feature-request that I should handle NHibernate proxy classes, treating them the same as the actual type. At the moment my code is treating them as unexpected inheritance, and throwing an exception. The code won't know in advance about NHibernate (including no reference, but I'm not aftaid of reflection ;-p) Is there a robust / guaranteed way of detecting such proxy types? Apparently DataContractSerializer handles this fine, so I'm hoping it is something pretty simple. Perhaps some interface or [attribute] decoration. Also, during deserialization; at the moment I would be creating the original type (not the NHibernate type). Is this fine for persistence purposes? Or is the proxy type required? If the latter; what is required to create an instance of the proxy type?

• How to rebuild openssh 5.2p1 after changing configure.ac

  I needed to add AM_PATH_CHECK to configure.am I then try to run the usual sequence of autotools commands to rebuild all the makefiles and whatnot: aclocal automake -ac autoheader autoreconf ./configure make and here my lack of understanding of autotools showes up because this release of openssh has no Makefile.am??? now what do I do? if i try to ignore this and build anyway configure dies with this lovely error: checking whether OpenSSL's PRNG is internally seeded... yes ./configure: line 18275: syntax error near unexpected token `PROG_LS,' ./configure: line 18275: `OSSH_PATH_ENTROPY_PROG(PROG_LS, ls)' caused by this line in configure.ac: OSSH_PATH_ENTROPY_PROG(PROG_LS, ls) Is this actually caused by my changes to configure.ac? what can I do to regenerate the required files to allow configure to work? if i take my changes out and dont run aclocal then it works???

  I have a .NET MVC winform app. I've created an AppDelegate class that handles application startup and shutdown...for now (it might do more later). Winform apps have a Program.cs file that does some app initialization, starts the message pump and creates the first form. In my app, the first form is AppDelegate, which isn't really a form but is forced that way by Application.Run(). AppDelegate does any further app initialization and starts the first Controller, which then initializes any child controllers (these then create their views). I don't consider events occuring in Program.cs and AppDelegate as part of the MVC. Conceptually, what would these be called?

• msvsmon is locking up my pdbs

  During developement of my media center plugin (which has a few custom build steps to gac stuff and such) msvsmon has a rather annoying behaviour. First compilation usually goes well, but subsequent compilations complain about myplugin.pdb being locked Error 1 Unexpected error creating debug information file 'C:\Users\sam\source\myfile.PDB' -- 'C:\Users\sam\source\obj\Debug\myfile.pdb: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. If I exit VS and nuke the object directory, I am able to compile again. Also, if I kill off msvsmon.exe I am able to compile again (but can not debug) Has anyone seen this error? Are there any workarounds? I already disabled live semantic errors, just in case.

• Ruby Rack: startup and teardown operations (Tokyo Cabinet connection)

  I have built a pretty simple REST service in Sinatra, on Rack. It's backed by 3 Tokyo Cabinet/Table datastores, which have connections that need to be opened and closed. I have two model classes written in straight Ruby that currently simply connect, get or put what they need, and then disconnect. Obviously, this isn't going to work long-term. I also have some Rack middleware like Warden that rely on these model classes. What's the best way to manage opening and closing the connections? Rack doesn't provide startup/shutdown hooks as I'm aware. I thought about inserting a piece of middleware that provides reference to the TC/TT object in env, but then I'd have to pipe that through Sinatra to the models, which doesn't seem efficient either; and that would only get be a per-request connection to TC. I'd imagine that per-server-instance-lifecycle would be a more appropriate lifespan. Thanks!

In my Grails application, I have the following domain class. class Book { org.joda.time.DateTime releaseDate //I use the PersistentDateTime for persisting via Hibernate (that use a DATETIME type for MySQL DB) } In my HQL query, I want to retrieve books whose release date is included in range date1..date2 For instance I tried: DateTime date1, date2 ... def queryStr = "select * from Book as b where b.releaseDate > $date1 and b.releaseDate < $date2" def res = Book.executeQuery(queryStr) But I got the exception ...caused by: org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateQueryException: unexpected token: The error token points to date format (for instance 2009-11-27T21:57:18.010+01:00 or Fri Nov 27 22:01:20 CET 2009) I have also tried to convert date1 into a Date class without success So what is the correct HQL code ? • Shutting Down SSH Tunnel in Paramiko Programatically

  We are attempting to use the paramiko module for creating SSH tunnels on demand to arbitrary servers for purposes of querying remote databases. We attempted to use the forward.py demo that ships with paramiko but the big limitation is there does not seem to be an easy way to close an SSH tunnel and the SSH connection once the socket server is started up. The limitation we have is that we cannot activate this from a shell and then kill the shell manually to stop the listner. We need to open the SSH connection, tunnel, perform some actions through the tunnel, close the tunnel, and close the SSH connection within python. I've seen references to a server.shutdown() method but it isn't clear how to implement it correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

  Hi folks! I'm wondering if it is possible to use assigned variables as identifier in a json array. When I tried this, I was getting some unexpected results: (Code is simplified, parameters are passed in a different way) var parameter = 'animal'; var value = 'pony'; Util.urlAppendParameters (url, {parameter : value}); Util.urlAppendParameters = function(url, parameters) { for (var x in parameters) { alert(x); } } Now the alert popup says: 'parameter' instead of 'animal'. I know I could use a different method (creating an array and assigning every parameter on a new line), but I want to keep my code compact. So my question is: Is it possible to use a variable as an identifier in the json array, and if so, could you please tell me how? Thanks in advance!
