• WCF method called twice

  Hi, I have a web service which is returning data to the desktop application. The problem I am having is, when the web service returns small volume of data everything works fine but when the volume of data is large it throws the following exception: System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive. And when I am debugging the web service, I see that this particular method is called twice. It executes the return statement 1st time nothing happens, but when it does execute it for the second time the above mentioned exception is thrown in the desktop app. I found similar posts before on stackoverflow but they did not solve my problem. Can anybody please tell me what's going on in here? Thanks!

• Lazy loading of ESB in a jruby rails app

  I have a jruby/rails app using: jruby 1.4.0 Rails 2.3.5 ActiveMQ 5.3.0 Mule ESB 2.2.1 Currently in our environment.rb file we start up Mule in the initializer. This becomes a big pain when we go to do normal rake tasks that don't require JMS/Mule such as db:migrate as it takes a long time to startup/shutdown Mule everytime. The code is similar to this: APP_CONTEXT = Java::our.company.package.service_clients.Initializer.getAppContext(MULE_CONFIG_PATH) And we use APP_CONTEXT to fetch the bean to connect to the appropriate service. I'm trying to figure out some mechanism by which APP_CONTEXT could be lazily instantiated (not in initialize) to avoid all of the pains of having to startup Mule on initialize. Currently we have a few ruby client classes that are instantiated as a before_filter in application_controller such as @data_service = DataService.new(APP_CONTEXT) that initialize the proper java client for each request for use in our controllers. I'm open to all suggestions. I'm having a hard time trying to find the right place to put this lazy instantiation.

• Batch file running on Vista problem

  Dear All , I have to generate keys from cWrsync, I have Command: "ssh-keygen -t rsa -q -N '' -f %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\.ssh\id_rsa" I placed that command into a batch file, that is pointing to cwRsync\bin directory, where ssh-keygen exe file is located, That batch file working fine Windows, But in Vista it is throwing unexpected result... the output of batch on Vista is: C:\Program Files\cwRsync\bin>ssh-keygen -t rsa -q -N '' -f C:\ProgramData\.ssh\i d_rsa open C:\\ProgramData\\.ssh\\id_rsa failed: Bad address. Saving the key failed: C:\ProgramData\.ssh\id_rsa. The intersting thing is that if i manually run this command in commandline , it again run successfully,

  I read some struts2 variable in javascript as follows: <javascript type="text/javascript"> var data='<s:property value="simulationInfos"/>'; <javascript> If my simulationInfos contains single quote ', I get the error : unexpected identifier. therefore, I tried to escape the quote as follows: var data='<s:property value="simInfos" escapeJavaScript="true"/>'; and var data='<s:property value="simInfos" escapeHTML="true"/>'; I get the error: Attribute escapeJavaScript (or escapeHTML) invalid for tag property according to TLD. • Telerik RadEditor working issue under VS2008

  I've a SharePoint portal for tracking questions in a list. When I open an list item in IE8 Telerik Editor works fine. But if I open this page inside VS2008 in browser mode this control starts to do unexpected actions. It's the Telerik RadEditor for Sharepoint v. 5.3.2.0. Is it a bug of VS2008 or a bug of Telerik RadEditor? Steps to reproduce: Install Telerik RadEditor in SharePoint portal Create a List with Rich editing field and create a new item Paste or type a text into Rich editing field and save changes Open VS2008 Click on any link in start page to open browser window Open created list item in VS in editing mode Mark a part of text in Rich editing field Marked text disappears.   Hi at all guys, hope someone is using Mono & monodevelop... i'm getting the following error when i try to compile an ASP.NET apps ported from vs.net 2008 Error VBNC99999: Unexpected error: The classes in the module cannot be loaded. (VBNC99999) This is the only error i get. I'm using 4 external assembly / dll AjaxControlToolkit.dll FusionCharts.dll MySql.Data.dll PostBackRitalin.dll I've added the dll in bin directory, then i've referenced it. I'm using Mono, because on my "old" computer (acer aspire t2300 buyed in 2007) run with linux & with monodevelop very well. With windows, visual studio is reeeeeeally slow.. so i decide to pass to mono.. Can somenone know something about that error ? Thank you very much. Regards !

• How to demonstrate java multithreading visibility problems?

  If variables in Java are accessed from multiple threads, one must ensure that they are safely published. This usually means using synchronizedor volatile. I have got the impression, that some of my colleagues do not take this issue seriously, since they "never heard of volatile before and their programs have worked for years". So my question is: Can someone provide an example Java program/snippet, that reliably shows data visibility problems. I think running a program and seeing the unexpected NPE or stale variable value would help more, than just theoretic explanations, that cannot be demonstrated. Thanks a lot for your help!

• UnitTest++ creates cmd windows, which can't be closed

  Hello, I have a setup for using UnitTest++ like this in VS2008. Sometimes the cmd window, which shows the console output of the unit tests just hangs. I can move the window, resize and stuff, but I'm unable to close it. I see the window in the App tab of the Task Manager, but not in the Process tab, "Switch to process" doesn't work either. Stop debugging or closing VS is also no help, it seems VS has lost control over this window. If this cmd window is lost, I'm unable to shutdown my computer, which is pretty annoying Any hints?

  Hello, I have a application server for network operations written with JAVA based on Apache Mina. Recently I encounter a strange behavior in my log files. I noticed that the log file is full of @^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^.... characters. I mean those unexpected characters are vast amount of as such the log file gets hundreds of GB in a couple of hours! I have no clue about this problem and it is almost impossible to google it. What could be the reason? Are those set of characters any familiar to anybody? I can give more details about the application if needed. Thanks in advance.

• How do I properly handle a faulted WCF connection?

  In my client program, there is a WCF connection that is opened at startup and supposedly stays connected til shutdown. However, there is a chance that the server closes due to unforeseeable circumstances (imagine someone pulling the cable). Since the client uses a lot of contract methods in a lot of places, I don't want to add a try/catch on every method call. I've got 2 ideas for handling this issue: Create a method that takes a delegate and executes the delegate inside a try/catch and returns an Exception in case of a known exception, or null else. The caller has to deal with nun-null results. Listen to the Faulted event of the underlying CommunicationObject. But I don't see how I could handle the event except for displaying some error message and shutting down. Are there some best practices for faulted WCF connection that exist for app lifetime?

  When getting the nodeValue of a DOMNode object that has entities in the nodeValue (i.e. a & gt;) then it converts the entity into it's printable character (i.e. ) Does anyone know of a way to get it to keep it as an entity, it really messes up string comparisons when it converts to something unexpected. • How to develop a DirectFB app without leaving X.11 environment.

  Hi folks, I'm trying to develop a GUI application for an embedded platform, without any windowing whatsoever and I'm doing that with DirectFB, and it suits my needs very fine. Since the embedded I develop for is not that powerful, I would really like to try to develop on my own Ubuntu desktop. The problem is Framebuffer is conflicting with X.org causing me to leave the whole desktop, and shutdown X.org just to see the result of my changes. Is there a good framebuffer simulator that suits my needs? Qt has one, called QVFb, but it only works for developing Qt apps, and the VNC back-end of DirectFB always crash. So, any ideas?

I am also writing the LogWriter module. In this caase i am mapping the whole file to the memory using mmap(). I am maintaining the Read and Write pointers.I want to write the log to the file in append mode. Then when logger service is started first time it writes it appends the logs. But when system gets shutdown next time when i run the service it doesn't append the data at the end. I want to maintain the write and read offsets even if system shut down.How to achieve this ..? How to find the how much data is written to the log file. ??
