• How do you calculate expanding mean on time series using pandas?

  How would you create a column(s) in the below pandas DataFrame where the new columns are the expanding mean/median of 'val' for each 'Mod_ID_x'. Imagine this as if were time series data and 'ID' 1-2 was on Day 1 and 'ID' 3-4 was on Day 2. • jQuery/Javascript problem with IE

  I have two radio buttons each with a unique ID. When one is clicked, I would like to add $10 to a total. When the other is clicked, we go back to the original total price. My jquery looks like this: function check_ceu() { var price = <%= conference_price %>; if($('#ceu_yes').is(':checked')){ $('#total').val(parseFloat(price) + 10) } else{ $('#total').val(price) } } I have this function bound to document.ready (for page refreshes) and also the onchange handler of the radio buttons. In FF and Chrome this works fine. In IE, when the radio button with ID of "ceu_yes" is checked nothing happens, then when clicking back to the other radio button, 10 is added. So in essence, IE has the checkbox functionality reversed. Below is my code for the buttons: <input type="radio" name="ceu" id="ceu_yes" value="1" onchange="check_ceu()" /> $10 <input type="radio" name="ceu" id="ceu_no" value="0" checked="checked" onchange="check_ceu()" /> No, thank you Any ideas on this?

• JQUERY AJAX, Issues with spaces being sent to the server, Why?

  I'm using the following code to post to the server which is then sent to a MYSQL query to find matches via search. $.ajax({ url: '/search/spotlight/', data: "q=" + $(this).val(), success: function(data) { } }); When Q's val has spaces in it, it's creating problems. I'm wondering if I'm handling this correctly? Do I need to encode the value in the AJAX call? Or is this a problem on my backend, which is ColdFusion Right now JQUERY is posting the following to the server: /search/spotlight/?q=FirstName%20LastName is this right?

• Question about inserting/updating rows with SQL Server (ASP.NET MVC)

  I have a very big table with a lot of rows, every row has stats for every user for certain days. And obviously I don't have any stats for future. So to update the stats I use UPDATE Stats SET Visits=@val WHERE ... a lot of conditions ... AND Date=@Today But what if the row doesn't exist? I'd have to use INSERT INTO Stats (...) VALUES (Visits=@val, ..., Date=@Today) How can I check if the row exists or not? Is there any way different from doing the COUNT(*)? If I fill the table with empty cells, it'd take hundreds of thousands of rows taking megabytes and storing no data.

• looping thru a list of checkboxes and saving the values, not working properly

  Hello all, I'm having a bit of a problem with this code. The program gives me a list of checkboxes but a user ID. then u user can change his selection and push the save button (id="btnSaveUserIntersts") and i am trying to save in the hidden textbox all the values of the checkboxes that was choosen. The problem is that i am getting all the time the same selections that came form the database and not getting the new selection that the user made.   Just a quick syntax question. I'm writing a map class (for school). If I define the following operator overload: template<typename Key, typename Val> class Map {... Val* operator[](Key k); What happens when a user writes: Map<int,int> myMap; map[10] = 3; Doing something like that will only overwrite a temporary copy of the [null] pointer at Key k. Is it even possible to do: map[10] = 3; printf("%i\n", map[10]); with the same operator overload?

However, I need to do this with jQuery because I'm using a CSS class for my selector (stupid ASP.NET client ids...).   I'm seeing strange results when doing a string.Format( "C" ); E.g. double val = 123456.78; Console.WriteLine( val.ToString( "C" ) ); This prints the thousand separator as 0xa0 rather than a comma (0x2c). I get the same result if I use string.Format( "{0:0,0.00}", 1234567.12D ); Here is the full output R 123ÿ456,78 52333A333233 201230456C78 My regional settings are English (South African) and I'm getting the same result on multiple machines. • Why does set key not do anything in AES/SymmetricAlgorithm?

  This MESSED ME UP hard. I thought i was setting the key but i was not. No exceptions, nothing happen except bad results. Why is there a setter if everything is ignored and no exceptions are thrown when i attempt to write? What is the point of the setter on the Keys property? When i do the below Key value are not changed. After an hour when i realize what was happening i wrote the loop to verify. I also tried aes.Key[0] = val; var b = val == aes.Key[0]; (and messed with it in immediate mode). Why does it have this behavior? • javascript timer fires up on the first key press

  I have a html page with a timer in it. I'm starting the timer with the keypress event, but i want it to execute only for the first key. I'm using a variable to catch the total keys in an other function which there were pressed and i have something like that: if(totaAttempts==1) start the timer, but with this solution the timer starts correctly, but is stomps when a key is pressed again. Any better ideas? • Hidden field value set with jQuery doesn't submit

  I'm completely perplexed. I set the value of a hidden field with jQuery and the submit the form. The hidden value is present when I dump the $_POST array via PHP unless I use Internet Explorer. Here's the test code: $('#hidden-field').val('I am a hidden value'); // To make sure it's setting properly ... // This shows its being set in FF, Chrome, **AND** IE alert($('#hidden-field').val()); Then on the PHP side: print_r($_POST); For submissions made with IE the result looks like this: Array ( [hidden-field] => ) Other browsers have the value. Help? Why doesn't the value submit and how can I make it?
