  • Firefox add-on development: Register global dynamic custom keyboard shortcuts

    I have been tasked with developing a Firefox add-on that is capable of registering global keyboard shortcuts (ones that will work throughout all areas of Firefox) that will open up the side-bar and execute an XMLRPC request based on previously recorded input. The idea here is that there will be many potential XMLRPC requests that the user will want to execute via a keyboard shortcut. Currently, the add-on is capable of handling pre-defined static keyboard shortcuts via the Firefox overlay. What I would like to achieve, is to allow the user to register their own dynamic custom keyboard shortcut. There is an add-on that currently has some of this functionality, called Keyconfig. I'm not keen on having to ask users to install a second add-on to define their own shortcuts. It also seems that using the dynamic keyboard shortcut registration method in Keyconfig would require the user to close all Firefox windows before the dynamic shortcut is made available. What I would like to know is: Is an XPCOM component the best way to register dynamic keyboard shortcuts from within a Firefox add-on? Is there a way to register the keyboard shortcut so that it is immediately available to all Firefox windows, without having to close the windows beforehand?

    Any regex gurus around here? its driving me crazy. Say I have this string: "bookstore books Booking" I want to count the number "books" appears in this and return the number. Currently I have this which is not working: $string = "bookstore books Booking"; if (preg_match_all('/\b[A-Z]+books\b/', $string, $matches)) { echo count($matches[0]) . " matches found"; } else { echo "match NOT found"; } On top of this the "books" inside the preg_match_all should become a $var Anyone an idea how to count correctly?

    In VS2008 when I add a reference to a dll e.g log4Net I get the following in csproj <Reference Include="log4net, Version=1.2.10.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=1b44e1d426115821, processorArchitecture=MSIL"> <SpecificVersion>False</SpecificVersion> <HintPath>..\..\lib\log4net\log4net.dll</HintPath> </Reference> In VS2010 when I add a reference to a dll for the first time e.g log4Net I get the following in csproj (i.e no version number etc) <Reference Include="log4net"> <HintPath>..\..\lib\log4net\log4net.dll</HintPath> </Reference> If I remove reference and add a second time the same details as in VS2008 is there (Version etc) Anyone know why version number etc not present the first time I add a reference and why it is present on secound time reference added?

    I am using an Excel Add-in for an Erlangs: http://abstractmicro.com/erlang/helppages/ref-erlbblockage.htm I try to call the Erlang-B function within the Add-in from within VBA thus: Function Erl(Erlangs As Double, Capacity As Double) Erl = Application.WorksheetFunction.ErlbBlockage(Capacity, Erlangs) End Function ...but it doesn't work. I get #VALUE! returned in the Excel cell. I think it is because the function is not part of standard Excel (it is in the Add-in). So how do I call it?

What MIME type will I need to associate with it? Also I want to add a group address field which will have a list of group addresses in it (name@domain, name@domain,...). Wich MIME type will I have to associate with this type of field. I also want to add custom fields to the Call History like a session ID and SIP address(name@domain) field. I have a large txt file in the below format, though details and amount of lines will change everytime: Username: john_joe Owner: John Joe Account: CLI: Default: LGICMD: Flags: Primary days: Secondary days: No access restrictions Expiration: Pwdlifetime: Last Login: Maxjobs: Maxacctjobs: Maxdetach: Prclm: Prio: Queprio: CPU: Authorized Privileges: BYPASS Default Privileges: SYSPRV This sequence is repeated a couple of thousand times for different users. I need to find every user (ideally the entire first line of the above) that has SYSPRV under "Default Permissions". I know I could write an application to do this, I was just hoping their might be a nice regex I could use. Cheers
