• Spring Security beginner's question. Build failed

  Hello, I downloaded all jar files for Spring Security 3.0 and added them to my lib folder in Netbeans 6.8. Then i added Spring framework to my web application and tried to modify applicationContext.xml as given in the pdf that shipped with Spring Security. • Upgraded Ubuntu, all drives in one zpool marked unavailable

  I just upgraded Ubuntu 14.04, and I had two ZFS pools on the server. There was some minor issue with me fighting with the ZFS driver and the kernel version, but that's worked out now. One pool came online, and mounted fine. The other didn't. However, the pool was fine before reboot, and Linux sees the disks fine (I have smartctl running now to double check) So, in summary: I upgraded Ubuntu, and lost access to one of my two zpools. The difference between the pools is the one that came up was JBOD, the other was zraid. All drives in the unmountable zpool are marked UNAVAIL, with no notes for corrupted data The pools were both created with disks referenced from /dev/disk/by-id/. Symlinks from /dev/disk/by-id to the various /dev/sd devices seems to be correct zdb can read the labels from the drives. Pool has already been attempted to be exported/imported, and isn't able to import again. Is there some sort of black magic I can invoke via zpool/zfs to bring these disks back into a reasonable array? Can I run zpool create zraid ... without losing my data? Is my data gone anyhow?

• How to set a control ID in ListView Template dynamically?

  A have a ListView that is rendered with multiple items. Now I want to toggle some HTML attributes with JQuery. Therefore it would be best to have access to these elements via an unique ID. But trying to create a "dynamic" and therefore unique ID by <tr runat="server" ID='<%# this.GetUniqueID() %>'> </tr> results in an error that tells me that the ID needs to be simple and cannot be set by a call to a method. I know that I can dynamically create controls in the code-behind and set the ID there. But in this case, I'd rather like to let the content be rendered by the ListView itself. That brings me to the conclusion that the idea of setting a dynically ID in the Template is totally wrong. How can I achieve the desired behaviour?

• Gallery items become off-center when switching into landscape orientation.

I'm writing an application for android 2.2 and I'm using a gallery to circulate through a list of images that the user can then click to navigate other portions of the application. In portrait orientation, everything is kosher: the images are displaying correctly (completely in the center of the screen as I intended); however, in landscape orientation, all the images in the gallery are strangely displaced a fixed distance to the left of the center of the screen. I've been researching this issue for hours now and haven't found a solution. I'm hoping that some android guru can aid me in the resolution of this bizarre rendering issue. • External USB 3 drive not recognized

  Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit seems not to recognize my external hard disk. It is a Vantec NST-310S3 external disk enclosure with a WD 3TB drive. The disk has two NTFS partitions. My PC is a dual boot system. Under Windows 7 the hard disk works fine but I can't make it work with Ubuntu. When the drive is connected to the PC then the command sudo fdisk -l seems to hang forever. Below are the output of lsusb and cat /proc/partitions without the external drive and then with it connected. I added also the last lines of the dmesg command at the end. • Server being used to send spam mail. How do I investigate?

  Problem I think my server is being used to send spam with sendmail, I'm getting a lot of mail being queued up that I don't recognize and my mail.log and syslog are getting huge. I've shutdown sendmail, so none of it is getting out but I can't work out where it's coming from. Investigation so far: I've tried the solution in the blog post below and also shown in this thread. It's meant to add a header from wherever the mail is being added and log all all mail to file, so I changed the following lines in my php.ini file: mail.add_x_header = On mail.log = /var/log/phpmail.log But nothing is appearing in the phpmail.log. I used the command here to investigate cron jobs for all users, but nothing is out of place. The only cron being run is the cron for the website. And then I brought up all php files which had been modified in the last 30 days but none of them look suspicious. What else can I do to find where this is coming from? Mail.log reports Turned sendmail back on for second. There are no contact forms on the site, there are a number of forms and they take either filtered text input or plain text input. Mail is still being queued up having switched the website to maintenance mode, which blocks out everyone but the admin. Ok more investigation, it looks like the email is being send by my websites cron which runs every 5 minutes. However there are no cron jobs I've set-up which run more than once an hour and show on the website log so presumably someone has managed to edit my cron somehow. • Java getInputStreat SocketTimeoutException instead of NoRouteToHostException

  I have an odd issue happening when trying to open multiple Input Streams (in separate threads) on Linux (RHEL). The behaviour works as expected on windows. I am kicking off 3 threads to open https connections to 3 different servers. All three are invalid IP addresses (in this test case), so I expect an NoRouteToHostException for each of them. The first two return these as expected, and quite quickly. (see stack trace below) However the third (and 4th when I tested it that way) do NOT give a no route exception. They wait for ages, and then give a SocketTimeoutException (see other stack trace below). This takes ages to come back, and does not accurately express the connection issue. I tried to manage it from the Google Appengine Data Viewer with "SELECT * FROM MyEntity Where id = 382005" or via a query in a servlet. I get no results returned. But i know for sure that the object with the id exists (i made a jsp which queries all objects in the db and displays them in the db). So what is wrong in my query? Am I querying the wrong field? The Google Appengine Data Viewer names the field "ID/name" and it has the value "id=382005". Do I have to query with this names? I've tried but it didn't work out :(

• Sensible Way to Pass Web Data in XML to a SQL Server Database

  After exploring several different ways to pass web data to a database for update purposes, I'm wondering if XML might be a good strategy. The database is currently SQL 2000. In a few months it will move to SQL 2005 and I will be able to change things if needed, but I need a SQL 2000 solution now. First of all, the database in question uses the EAV model. I know that this kind of database is generally highly frowned on, so for the purposes of this question, please just accept that this is not going to change. The current update method has the web server inserting values (that have all been converted first to their correct underlying types, then to sql_variant) to a temp table. A stored procedure is then run which expects the temp table to exist and it takes care of updating, inserting, or deleting things as needed. So far, only a single element has needed to be updated at a time. But now, there is a requirement to be able to edit multiple elements at once, and also to support hierarchical elements, each of which can have its own list of attributes. Here's some example XML I hand-typed to demonstrate what I'm thinking of. I'll probably support only passing in changed items (as detected by javascript). And there may be an Action="Delete" on Attr elements as well, since NULLs are treated as "unselected"--sometimes it's very important to know if a Yes/No question has intentionally been answered No or if no one's bothered to say Yes yet. There is also a different kind of data, a Relationship. At this time, those are updated through individual AJAX calls as things are edited in the UI, but I'd like to include those so that changes to relationships can be canceled (right now, once you change it, it's done). So those are really elements, too, but they are called Rel instead of Element. Relationships are implemented as ElementID1 and ElementID2, so the RelID 2284 in the XML above is in the database as: ElementID 2284 ElementID1 1234 ElementID2 3827 Having multiple children in one relationship isn't currently supported, but it would be nice later. Does this strategy and the example XML make sense? Is there a more sensible way? I'm just looking for some broad critique to help save me from going down a bad path. Any aspect that you'd like to comment on would be helpful. The web language happens to be Classic ASP, but that could change to ASP.Net at some point. A persistence engine like Linq or nHibernate is probably not acceptable right now--I just want to get this already working application enhanced without a huge amount of development time. I'll choose the answer that shows experience and has a balance of good warnings about what not to do, confirmations of what I'm planning to do, and recommendations about something else to do. I'll make it as objective as possible. P.S. I'd like to handle unicode characters as well as very long strings (10k +). UPDATE I have had this working for some time and I used the ADO Recordset Save-To-Stream trick to make creating the XML really easy. The result seems to be fairly fast, though if speed ever becomes a problem I may revisit this. In the meantime, my code works to handle any number of elements and attributes on the page at once, including updating, deleting, and creating new items all in one go. I settled on a scheme like so for all my elements: Existing data elements Example: input name e12345_a678 (element 12345, attribute 678), the input value is the value of the attribute. • supervisord launches with wrong setuid

  I am trying to test a pilot system with nginx connecting to uwsgi served application controlled by supervisord running on ubuntu-server. Application is written in python with Flask in virtualenv, although I'm not sure if that is relevant. To test the system I have created a simple hello world with flask. I want nginx and uwsgi both to run as www-data user. If I launch uwsgi "manually" from root shell I can see uwsgi processes runing as appropriate user (www-data). Although, if I let supervisor launch the application something strange happens - uwsgi processes are runing under my user (friendzis). Consequently, socket file gets created under wrong user and nginx cannot communicate with my applicaion. note: the linux server runs as Hyper-V VM, under Windows Server 2008.
