SQL Server schema-owner permissions

if i do: CREATE SCHEMA [test] AUTHORIZATION [testuser] testuser doesn't seem to have any permissions on the schema, is this correct? I thought as the principal that owns the schema, you had full control over it? What permission do i need to grant testuser so that it has full control over the test schema only? Edit: by "full control" i mean the ability to CRUD tables, views, sprocs etc Thanks

Pass checkbox values with Jquery to PHP and display result in div

I want to filter realtime results with jQuery (just like on this site http://shop.www.hi.nl/hi/mcsmambo.p?M5NextUrl=RSRCH). So when someones checks a checkbox the results should update realtime (in a div). Now I'm a newbie with jQuery and I've tried lots of examples but I can't get it to work. Dynamic margin (or simulation of margin) between left floated divs

I have a number of divs floated left. When browser is resized they move down or up based on how many can fit on the line. I was wondering if there is a way to dynamically (with css) have those divs align (or have margin) in a way, that they would always fill the entire screen space by having their marhin resize? In other words margin between them would resize while browser is resized, but as soon as another div can fit it will be added in the line, or if minimum margin is reached and passed another div goes to next line while margins expand again. putting <%=yield %> in a partial for ajax jquery calls

How to return value using ajax

But now, this works fine on localhost, I get the return values nad message properly but when I upload it on server this gives me an error as: data2 is null [Break on this error] $('#display').html(data2.returnValue); This only gives error for return value but insertion, sending mail functionality works fine. Please provide me with a good solution wherein I can be able to get back the return values without any error. Thanks in advance.

How do I correctly decode unicode parameters passed to a servlet

If in SERVLET I do: Writer writer = response.getWriter(); writer.write(request.getParameter("external_title")); I get Yahoo!â„¢ in the browser. If I manually switch the browser character encoding to UTF-8, it changes to Yahoo!TM (which is what I want). So I figured the encoding I was sending to the browser was wrong (it was Content-type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1). I changed SERVLET to: response.setContentType("text/html; charset=utf-8"); Writer writer = response.getWriter(); writer.write(request.getParameter("external_title")); Now the browser character encoding is UTF-8, but it outputs Yahoo!â?¢ and I can't get the browser to render the correct character at all. My question is: is there some combination of Content-type and/or new String(request.getParameter("external_title").getBytes(), "UTF-8"); and/or something else that will result in Yahoo!TM appearing in the SERVLET output?

Replacing content with jquery.

I am loading a movie into a overlay. My problem is that when I close the div overlay the movie continues to play. I do not control the code on the move side it is imported via a script tag which then opens in a iframe. I am able to remove the content of the of the div and then the movie stops playing. Then of course when the user opens the div again the movie is gone. My current thinking was that I could simply replace the script tag with one just like it but the outcome of that is that there is nothing there. I have been using jquery. Action Mailer: How do I render dynamic data in an email body that is stored in the database?

I have Action Mailer setup to render an email using the body attribute of my Email model (in the database). I want to be able to use erb in the body but I can't figure out how to get it to render in the sent email message. So the two questions are what is the best logic of finding a business by its categories using the latter form and number two how to get that in a pretty URL all through RESTful routes in Rails.

CSS box around box technique

Dear Experts, I was trying to make an CSS division box with content in it as well as a border around it. TO be honest, it took me around 30min to do this and I still can't get it right :( I know that a way to achieve the same result would be setting up a border around just one box. But I just wanna learn this box around box background-color technique. THanks in advance

XSL transformation generating output from other nodes

I have the following XSL template: <xsl:template match="SOAP-ENV:Body/*[local-name()='Publisher']"> <html> <xsl:call-template name="body" /> </html> </xsl:template> The previous template generates the output I want, it's generating the tags containing the output generated by the "body" template. The issue I'm having is that before the opening tag I'm getting text output from a previous node. Not sure why this is happening since I'm not selecting these other nodes. For example: <SOAP-ENV:Header>  </SOAP-ENV:Header> <SOAP-ENV:Body> <publishParty:Publisher>  </publishParty:Publisher> </SOAP-ENV:Body> Given the previous sample XML fragment, my output would contain what I would expect of formatting the Publisher element, but I'm also getting the text nodes of the children of the SOAP-ENV:Header node. Any ideas? Thanks!

When we say dictionary attack, we don't really mean a real dictionary, do we? My guess is we mean a hacker's dictionary i.e. rainbow tables, right? My point is we're not talking about someone keying different passwords into the login box, we're talking about someone who has full access to your database (which has hashed passwords, not plain passwords) and this person is reversing the hashes, right?

What's the most efficient way to setup a multi-lingual website

Hi, I'm developing a website that will be available in different languages. It is a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) setup, and it makes use of Smarty, mostly for the template engine. The way we currently translate is by a self-written smarty plugin, which will recognize certain tags in the HTML files, and will find the corresponding tag in an earlier defined language file. The HTML could look as follows: <p>Hi, welcome to $#gamedesc;!</p> And the language file could look like this: gamedesc:Poing 2009$; welcome:this is another tag$; Which would then output <p>Hi, welcome to Poing 2009!</p> This system is very basic, but it is pretty hard to control, if I f.e. would like to keep track of what has been translated so far, or give certain users the rights to translate only certain tags. I've been looking at some alternative ways to approach this, by either replacing the text-file with XML files which could store some extra meta-data, or by perhaps storing all the texts in the database, and retrieving it there. My question is, what would be the best way to make this system both maintainable and perform well with high user-traffic? Are there perhaps any (lightweight) plugins I could take a look at?

My only concern is that the interaction between client and server should be minimal. Thanks..

Modularizing web applications

Hey all, I was wondering how big companies tend to modularize components on their page. Facebook is a good example: There's a team working on Search that has its own CSS, javascript, html, etc.. There's a team working on the news feed that has its own CSS, javascript, html, etc... ... And the list goes on They cannot all be aware of what everyone is naming their div tags and whatnot, so what's the controller(?) doing to hook all these components in on the final page?? Note: This doesn't just apply to facebook - any company that has separate teams working on separate components has some logic that helps them out. EDIT: Thanks all for the responses, unfortunately I still haven't really found what I'm looking for - when you check out the source code (granted its minified), the divs have UIDs, my guess is that there is a compilation process that runs through and makes each of the components unique, renaming divs and css rules.. any ideas? What are the DB smells?

We all know 'code smells', but what are the fundamental 'database smells'? I'm a DB n00b, but I'll give an example of something that I find fishy. It seems to me like when I have to join 6-8 tables together to optimize our loading that we have a DB smell? Or would that be a pretty 'normal' database layout? (Sure, early optimization is the root of all evil, but this seems to me like early pessimisation, not to mention the cumbersomeness?)

Assume I have the following tables: TABLE: foo - foo_id (PK) TABLE: tag - tag_id (PK) - name TABLE: foo_tag - foo_tag_id (PK) - foo_id (FK) - tag_id (FK) How do I query this so that I get a result like this: ========================== | foo_id | tags | ========================== | 1 | foo, bar | | 2 | foo | | 3 | bar | -------------------------- Basically, I need all of foo's tags in one column, comma separated. im populating the data in the combo box using dataset tables...with some table name..now i want to clear those entries or data populated in the combobox every time when the button is clicked...so that new entries can be done.... is there any way to clear the comobo box values??
