• Why are the tags on my site using wordpress being indexed instead of the page?

  I can't figure out why my tags are being indexed by google and not my actual posts. So in google, my posts are showing up as mysite.com/tags/post and I of course I want it to look like mysite.com/category/actualpost. Any ideas what could be wrong? My domain is 3 years old and I just started a new focus of an existing site. I can't figure this out! There is no duplicate content, I have a sitemap submitted to webmaster tools and robots.txt...I have everything I need. This is the first time something like this has happened to me. Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

• Unindexing my tumblr blogs content and moving it to another tumblr blog

  ive been writing a tumblr blog for the past yr or so, ive writen about 300 articles, but now i need to move the blog to another site. (before it was running under blog.mysite.com and i now want it to run under blog.my*new*site.com) I want to keep the archived articles and have them on the new site, so what i was hoping to do was export the blog from tumblr, go into webmaster tools remove all the blogs indexed urls from google webmaster, then make a new tumblr blog and import the posts. Would google see this as new content as ive deleted their indexed copy ? Could i just move the mapping of the tumblr blog to the new subdomain, but in doing this i would lose all the pr and it would still look like duplicate content whats the best way to approach this ?

• Can't connect to smtp (postfix, dovecot) after making a change and trying to change it back

  I am using postfix and dovecot along with zpanel and I tried enabling SSL and then turned it off as I did not have SSL configured yet and I realized it was a bit stupid at the time. I am using CentOS 6.4. I get the following error in the mail log.   I was currently developing tower of defense game and I want to implement 2x feature for my game. Game usually run with 1x speed that was normal speed of the game. Here what 1x and 2x mean : 1x - mention normal speed of the game, 2x - mention the game object moves with double speed means user experience the fast game play. I want to implement such functionality for my game. • Ubuntu 11.10 doesn't detect Intel integrated graphics (i7-2670QM CPU)

  The laptop I'm using is an MSI GT683DX-847PT that comes with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX570M discrete GPU, and an Intel Core i7-2670QM CPU. According to Intel's description of the Core i7-2670QM CPU, it has an HD Graphics 3000 integrated GPU. The problem is that the Intel integrated graphics GPU doesn't come up in lspci nor in lshw, only the NVIDIA GPU shows up. Why doesn't the Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU show up? Any tests I could make to verify the presence of an integrated GPU?

  I have seen a couple of site which has high number of hits. They are mostly tutorial sites and blogs that address software issue/errors. I wonder if the kewybord "blog" has a very positive effect in SEO? In my own site, I have install word press in root folder to avoid any blog keyword. I also did this to keep urls shallow (deeper url are not good for SEO). But I may want to think on it again. The sites I am referring too are http://blog.sqlauthority.com http://veerasundar.com/blog/2011/11/making-xampp-to-serve-any-directory-outside-htdocs/ I know there are standard (sort of) class names or ID that identify different contents and makes it easier for the search engine to identify contents like, "container", "menu". The use of word "blog" would mean this is about dicussing/tutoring something and have a very positive effect on SEO?

• Displaying google analytics data on my website

  I sale adspace for my websites directly to the advertisers. I ad page where I want to show google anaylytics information that update automatically without me having to manually update everyday or every month. I know google has public API and you can connect it to google graph API to to show pretty graphs.   Note: I am currently in the process of relocating my blog from http://www.geekswithblogs.net/techtwaddle to my new address at http://www.techtwaddle.net I suggest you point your feed readers to the new address as I slowly transition to my new shared-hosted, ad-free wordpress blog :)   You probably remember my rant from a while back about my windows mobile developer account having problems with the new AppHub, well, there have been few developments and I thought I should share it with you. First up, the issue isn’t fixed yet. I still cannot login to AppHub using my windows mobile 6.x developer account and can’t view details of my Minesweeper app. Who knows how many copies its sold. I had numerous exchanges with Microsoft’s support team on the AppHub forums and via email as well (support ticket), but somehow we never managed to get to the root of it. In fact, the support team itself grew so tired of the problem that they suggested I create a new dev account. I grew impatient, and it was really frustrating to have an app ready for submission but not being able to do anything with it. Eventually, the frustration had to show somewhere, and it was on this forum thread Prabhu Kumar in reply to Nick Nick, I feel for you and totally understand the frustration. Since day one I have been getting the XBOX profile linking error, We encountered an issue connecting your App Hub account with your Xbox Live Profile. Please visit Xbox.com and update your contact information. After you have updated your contact information, please return to the App Hub (https://users.create.msdn.com/Register) to continue. I have an app published on the Windows Mobile 6.x marketplace since Aug, now I can't view the details of this app. I completed work on my WP7 application 1.5 months ago and the first version is ready for submission to marketplace, only if I can login. You can imagine how frustrating all this can be, the issue has taken far too long to be fixed, this has drained all my motivation. I have exchanged numerous mails with Microsoft support team on this issue, and from the looks of it they really are trying their best, unfortunately, their best is not good enough for some of us. During the first week of December I was told that there would be an update happening to AppHub around mid of December. I was hoping that the issue would be fixed but it wasn't. After the update the only change I notice is that the xbox.com link on the error page now takes me to the correct link. Previously, this link used to take me to the 404 page you mentioned above. Out of desperation, I am now considering creating another developer account on AppHub with a new live id, even this I am not 100% sure will work. I asked the support team when the next update to AppHub was planned and got this reply, "We do not have  release date to announce for the next App Hub update at this time. In regards to the login issue you are experiencing at this point the only solution would be to create a new account with a different live ID but make sure to go to xbox.com before hand to get all the information in order on that side." I know it's an extra $99, and not that I can't afford it but it doesn't feel right and I shouldn't have to be doing it in the first place. I have lost all hope of this issue being resolved. I went ahead and created a new dev account, the id verification was in progress when Shaun Taulbee of Microsoft, who has been really helpful in the forums, replied saying, If you find it necessary to pay again to create a new account due to a Microsoft problem, send in a support request asking for a refund and we'll review it (and likely approve it given the circumstances). The thought of refund made me happy, but I had my doubts. So once my second account was verified by Geotrust I applied for a refund through the developer dashboard, by creating a support ticket. Couple of days later I got an email from Microsoft saying that the refund had been approved! yay! Few days and the refund showed up on my bill, Well, thank you Microsoft, it means a lot. I am glad it’s over now. The new account works flawlessly. I would still like to get my first account working again and look at my app numbers for Win Mo 6.x, and probably transfer the credits to the new account somehow, but I’ll save it for another day. If you’ve had similar problems with the AppHub, and had to create a new account to submit your app, I suggest you contact the support team and get your dollars refunded!

If not how can I rewrite it? Ok Ill explain about my applicaiton. My application is based on shopping. if a customer searched for mobiles. it will redirect to url like this http://mydomain.com/cat/mobile-3 3 in the url indicates my database id it is used for further searching After the user reached the mobile page he may need to filter for some brand eg. nokia so my url look lik http://mydomain.com/subcat/nokia-3-2 The integer at the end refers to 3 category id and 2 the brand id My doubt is whether the integer at the end of the url will affect seo ranking.

• Should I use title case in URLs?

  We are currently deciding on a consistent naming convention across a site with multiple web applications. Historically, I've been an advocate of the 'lowercase all the letters!' when creating URLs: http://example.com/mysystem/account/view/1551 However, within the last year or two, specifically since I began using ASP.NET MVC & had more dealings with REST based URLs, I've become a fan of capitalizing the first letter of each section/word within the URL as it makes it easier to read (imho). http://example.com/MySystem/Account/View/1551 We're not in a situation where people need to read or be able to understand the URLs, so that's not a driver per se. The main thing we are after is a consistent approach that is rational and makes sense. Are there any standards that declare it good to do one way or another, or issues that we may run into on (at least realistically modern) setups that would choose a preference over another? What is the general consensus for this debate currently?

• Why does Google Search Engine reject my title tag's change?

  I made a simple webpage http://pundaquitboat.michaelspages.com/ giving it the the title tag "Boat – Pundaquit" and I have submitted it to Google bot by Google Webmaster Tools. Then I decided to change the title to "Anawangin trip" of the same page and I submited my webpage again in the same way to Google bot. The result was that the new title of my webpage coexisted with the old title of the same webpage in SERPs for maybe 2 days. After that the new title was rejected and if I enter site:pundaquitboat.michaelspages.com/ I can see that Google has my old copy of my webpage with old title in its database. This problem doesn't occur in Bing when I can enjoy high position of "Anawangin trip" phrase. (In Bing I haven't submitted the old version of title.)

• Create USB installer from the command line?

  I'm trying to create a bootable USB image to install Ubuntu on a new computer. I have done this before following the "create USB drive" instructions for Ubuntu desktop, but I don't have an Ubuntu desktop available. How can I do the same using only the command line? Things I've tried: Create bootable USB on Mac OS X following the ubuntu.com "create USB drive" instructions for Mac: Doesn't boot. usb-creator: According to apt-cache search usb-creator and Wikipedia usb-creator only exists as a graphical tool. "Create manually" instructions at help.ubuntu.com: None of the files and directories described (e.g. casper, filesystem.manifest, menu.lst) exist in the ISO image, and I don't know what has replaced them. unetbootin scripting: Requires X server (graphics support) to run, even when fully scripted. (The command sudo unetbootin lang=en method=diskimage isofile=~/ubuntu-10.10-server-amd64.iso installtype=USB targetdrive=/dev/sdg1 autoinstall=yes gives an error message unetbootin: cannot connect to X server.) Update Also tried GRUB fiddling: Merging information from pendrivelinux.com a related question on the Linux Stackexchange and a grub configuration example I was able to get halfway there - it booted from USB, displayed the grub menu and started the installation, but installation did not complete. For reference, this is the closest I got: sudo su # mount USB pen mount /dev/sd[X]1 /media/usb # install GRUB grub-install --force --no-floppy --root-directory=/media/usb /dev/sd[X] # copy ISO image to USB cp ~/ubuntu-10.10-server-amd64.iso /media/usb # mount ISO image, copy existing grub.cfg mount ~/ubuntu-10.10-server-amd64.iso /media/iso/ -o loop cp /media/iso/boot/grub/grub.cfg /media/usb/boot/grub/ I then edited /media/usb/boot/grub.cfg to add an .iso loopback, example grub entry: menuentry "Install Ubuntu Server" { set gfxpayload=keep loopback loop /ubuntu-10.10-server-amd64.iso linux (loop)/install/vmlinuz file=(loop)/preseed/ubuntu-server.seed iso-scan/filename=/ubuntu-10.10-server-amd64.iso quiet -- initrd (loop)/install/initrd.gz } When booting from USB, this would give me the Grub boot menu and start the installer, but the installer gave up after a couple of screens complaining that it couldn't find the CD-ROM drive. (Naturally, as the box I'm installing on doesn't have an optical drive.) I resolved this particular issue by giving up and doing the "create USB drive" routine using the Ubuntu Live desktop CD (on a computer that does have an optical drive), then the USB install works. But I expect that there is some way to do this from the command line of an Ubuntu system without X server and without an optical drive, so the question still stands. Does anyone know how?

• Huge difference between Facebook Ad Click figures and Apache log requests

  We're running a facebook ad campaign for our business but there seems to be a huge discrepancy between the number of clicks registered and the number of requests made with "facebook.com" in the HTTP referrer. The difference can be anything between 40-80 clicks/requests. I understand why the Google Analytics would be off and I understand that the figures shouldnt be exactly the same but surely if 100 people click the ad then I should be seeing at least 90 requests for the homepage with facebook.com as the referrer? Can anybody provide any insight into why this may be happening?

• MS Tech Ed 2011 Coming Soon

  Microsoft Tech ed 2010 was a great success. Infact  Most of such conferences always provide a great place to meet other  technology enthusiasts and ofcourse,whats in the pipeline for future products of a company or field.. And yet again,MS Tech ed India is coming on 23-25 march  in Banglore,India.Well,the place is  ofcourse right suited for any IT/Computing conference.After all,Its Silicon Valley of India.. I believe,Web forms will be dead sooner or later with ASP.Net  MVC  gaining share many folds.(TODO:Learn MVC). The new standard is surely:JQUERY . Day 2:  a) Lap Around Silverlight 5 and Html 5 as I have heard some hot talks that html5 will kill Silverlight,(I don’t see it in near future though).        b) Html 5 more than “Html 5”…Google will be seeing this one. Day3: a) Cross Browser applications in Azure       b)VS 2010 sessions of automated testing azure apps etc. Windows Phone 7 sessions will surely be of more interest now after MS-Nokia Deal. Though,Personally,I would want atleast some worth of  sessions on MS  future in Robotics,AI.Perhaps  I am looking at wrong place..(When is PDC?) • Including Specific Characters with Google Web Fonts

  I'm using the Open Sans web font from Google Web Fonts on my website. I only need the basic latin subset, but I do use the Psi (?) character quite often as well and I would like to use the Open Sans version of that character, without having to include the entire greek subset. I looked at this help page which shows how to embed specific characters only using the text parameter, but there's no mention of including specific characters. • Problem in Addon Domain name binding with existing directory in my webspace

  I recently purchased a domain thinkzarahatke.com. At the time of purchasing i selected an option, say url redirect, to my existing site. Further I had entered Naming server detail. But I dint find any other option to change URL rewrite parameters under Domain Name Manager. From the cPanel of my hosting space, I had added new domain as addon and set a sundirectory for it. Now If I am trying to access my new domain directly, it is automatically redirecting to my old website. While if i access some inside directory, like thinkzarahatke.com/blog, then i am able to access to my new site. What wrong i done? Please tell me if i need to do some more settings with addon domain.
