• How do I execute file installed by merge module?

  I am using WIX and have successfully used a custom action to execute installed file at the end of installer like this: <CustomAction Id="LaunchAfterInstall" FileKey="foobar.exe" ExeCommand="parameters" Execute="immediate" Impersonate="yes" Return="asyncNoWait" /> <Property Id="WIXUI_INSTALLDIR" Value="INSTALLLOCATION"/> <UIRef Id="WixUI_InstallDir" /> <Property Id="WIXUI_EXITDIALOGOPTIONALCHECKBOXTEXT" Value="Launch Foobar." /> <UI> <Publish Dialog="ExitDialog" Control="Finish" Order="1" Event="DoAction" Value="LaunchAfterInstall">WIXUI_EXITDIALOGOPTIONALCHECKBOX</Publish> </UI> This works well when foobar.exe is in a component in the same wxs file. However what I really want is to execute a file that is installed by a merge module. How do I do this? I can make changes in the merge module, if this helps things.

  I'm trying to change the fillColor of a CAShapeLayer when the layer it's contained in is touched. I'm able to change the background color of the tapped layer like this: -(void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CALayer *layer = [(CALayer *)self.view.layer.presentationLayer hitTest:point]; layer = layer.modelLayer; layer.backgroundColor = [UIColor blueColor].CGColor; } This turns the background of "layer" blue as expected. My problem is how do I change the color of the CAShapelayer inside "layer"? Thanks!

• Using "class/object" MooTools-style events in jQuery

  I'm having a problem with the Scripting Bridge framework in 10.5. • RichTextBox doesn't update caret position correctly

  I have a handler consuming the keyDown event of a WinForms RTB, that has the following code: GetTextAtLoc(RTB->SelectionStart); // selects some text at the caret's position RTB->SelectedText = "SomeOfMyOwn"; GetTextAtLoc(RTB->SelectionStart); // selects the replacement string RTB->SelectionStart += RTB->SelectionLength - 1; While this code seems to do its job (SelectionStart/Length properties are updated correctly), the caret doesn't move to the end of the new string - It says right where it was at the time of GetTextAtLoc's first call. Redrawing the textbox does seem to have any effect either.

• Windows Server 2003 Hacked - Files Being Uploaded

  Blank directories are being created on my Windows Server 2003 virtual server with sub directories that are weird (for example: "88ÿ ÿ ÿÿþþ þþ13þ"). It looks like they are uploading bootlegged DVDs and pirated software. All of my bandwidth and file space is being eaten up. Could this be a shared permissions issue? Where should I look to further investigate this? My security permissions for the directory that is being hit are as followed: Administrators - ALL GRANTED IIS_WPG - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read Internet Guest - DENY SYSTEM - ALL GRANTED Users - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read My Event Viewer is showing many Logon/Logoff with NO IP?

• How can I pause a BackgroundWorker? Or something similar...

  I was using a BackgroundWorker to download some web sites by calling WebClient.DownloadString inside a loop. I wanted the option for the user to cancel in the middle of downloading stuff, so I called CancelAsync whenever I found that CancellationPending was on in the middle of the loop. But now I noticed that the function DownloadString kinda freezes sometimes, so I decided to use DownloadStringAsync instead (all this inside the other thread created with BackgroundWorker). An since and don't want to rewrite my whole code by having to exit the loop and the function after calling DownloadStringAsync, I made a while loop right after calling it that does nothing but checks for a variable bool Stop that I turn true either when the DownloadStringCompleted event handler is called or when the user request to cancel the operation. Now, the weird thing is that it works fine on the debug version, but on the release one, the program freezes in the while loop like if it were the main thread.

• Changing drag cursor in VirtualTreeView

  When using VirtualTreeView drag operation by default is [doCopy,doMove]. Move operation is indicated by arrow pointer with small box and Copy operation is indicated by same pointer icon but with added [+] next to it. By default VT uses copy operation and if you press modifier key (SHIFT key) it modifies operation to move therefore removing the [+] from pointer. Here is what I need: reverse the operations (default would be move, with modifier key pressed - copy) and thus reverse pointer arrow too replace modifier key - CTRL instead of SHIFT read in an event which of the two operations occurred and start copy or move operation Any pointers into right direction(s) appreciated.

  I'm working on an audio-intensive app for the iPhone. I'm currently calling a number of different functions for each sample I need to calculate. For example, I have an envelope class. When I calculate a sample, I do something like: sampleValue = oscilator->tic() * envelope->tic(); But I could also do something like: for(int i = 0; i < bufferLength; i++){ buffer[i] = oscilatorBuffer[i] * evelopeBuffer[i]; } I know the second will be more efficient, but don't know by how much. Are function calls expensive enough that I'd be crazy not to use buffers if I care event a tiny bit about performance?

  Hi troops, how would you prevent dragging for some items of your List or DataGrid? Let's say I had a list with two items: 'Tom' and 'Jerry'. Only 'Tom' should be dragable, not 'Jerry'. Ideally I had a 'isDragEnabled(item:Object):Boolean' function, which is being queried by the drag source. My difficulties start with the fact that the 'dragStart' event handler has a null value for the dragSource, so right from the start I find it hard to find out what the drag-start is about.. Thanks in advance! PS There have been a few discussions on preventing or canceling a drop, but I haven't seen much about preventing the drag start, hence this question.

• Setting a Silverlight textbox control's width relatively

  Hello, I tried searching on stackoverflow for an answer to my question but couldn't seem to find anything relevant. Since I'm relatively new to Silverlight, I'm not even sure if this is possible, but I am trying to figure out if it is possible to set a Silverlight textbox control's width value proportionally to it's immediate parent container? It would be nice to avoid hard coding a width value. Say you want to place a textbox control inside a horizontally aligned StackPanel control and have it's width always dynamically adjusted to be 80% of the total width of the StackPanel. Is this possible to do declaratively in your xaml markup, or will I need to resort to some codebehind attached to some event handler to accomplish this? fyi, I am currently using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 to write my silverlight code. thanks in advance, John

• How to disable multitouch?

  My app has several buttons which trigger different events. The user should NOT be able to hold down several buttons. Anyhow, holding down several buttons crashes the app. And so, I'm trying to disable multi-touch in my app. I've unchecked 'Multiple Touch' in all the xib files, and as far as I can work out, the properties 'multipleTouchEnabled' and 'exclusiveTouch' control whether the view uses multitouch. So in my applicationDidFinishLaunching I've put this: self.mainViewController.view.multipleTouchEnabled=NO; self.mainViewController.view.exclusiveTouch =YES; And in each of my view controllers I've put this in the viewDidLoad self.view.multipleTouchEnabled=NO; self.view.exclusiveTouch=YES; However, it still accepts multiple touches. I could do something like disable other buttons after getting a touch down event, but this would be an ugly hack. Surely there is a way to properly disable multi-touch?

• Detecting a Key Press Squashed by Another Application

  I have a WPF application I'm planning to use as an overlay for a DirectX game (specifically Bad Company 2). I'm using WM_KEYBOARD_LL hook to detect KeyDown events so I can bring my app to the foreground when a specific button is pressed. This works perfectly except for when the game is running (I've also noticed this problem with Window's "Chess Titans" so it may be a DirectX thing). As far as I can work out, when the game detects a keyboard press, it "eats" the event and doesn't pass the CallNextHookEx() method like it should, which would allow the key press message to be moved along to the next application in the queue. I'm wondering if there's any sort of work-around to this? It seems kind of unfair that a single application can just willy-nilly eat up messages like that. • Storing date and time as epoch vs native datetime format in the database

  For most of my tasks I find it much easier to work with date and time in the epoch format: it's trivial to calculate timespan or determine if some event happened before or after another, I don't have to deal with time-zone issues if the data comes from different geographical sources, in case of scripting languages what I usually get from database when I request a datetime-typed column is a string that I need to parse in order to work with it. This list can go on, but for me in order to keep my code portable that's enough to ditch database's native datetime format and store date and time as integer. What do you guys think?

  How can I manage multiple versions of a database easily? I have some data (as views as selects for data originating in tables from other schemas), which other database may reference using various means including database synonyms & links. I wish to provide a sort of interface/guarantee in-case future for applications/databases which use this data. All of this is for in the event i need to update the views for correctness or applicability inside my database. How can i achieve this in a maintained, controlled and easy way? • A very weird problem with texbox control in .net

  Well i know textbox is a very simple user control, perhaps the first input control ever made. I have been facing a very frustrating problem with this simple control. I programatically add a textbox in my user control. From ui i am able to edit it like a normal textbox. however, i am not able to read the user inputed value in the program. my program all the time sees the old value with which my text box was initialized. i textchange event getting triggered but the value never gets updated. This seemingly looks to be some innocuous bug in the code, but the program is very simple and it does not seem to be having any bug. Any guidelines on this issue?

• How can I unbind JQZOOM in my JQuery Script?

  Hello, I have this script at the moment, which changes an image when a thumbnail has been changed. I then want JQZOOM to be added to that new image. However, if I put it inside the Onclick event, it gets slower and slower the more times you click on it... I guess because its running multiple instances. Is there anyway to unbind the JQZOOM from something then rebind it to something else?   I have a web application, which works fine if I include my user controls with <%@ Register TagPrefix="mine" TagName="MyUC1" Src="~/UserControls/MyUc1.ascx" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="mine" TagName="MyUC2" Src="~/UserControls/MyUc2.ascx" %> But I need to use the namespace due to needing to integrate with Umbraco. When I replace the register declaration with: <%@ Register TagPrefix="mine" Namespace="MyAssembly.UserControls" Assembly="MyAssembly"%> I get a null reference exception in the UserControl's Page_Load event (which references an ASP.NET control which is used by the UserControl itself. I find this pretty bizarre, but I've found very little information on how to fix it.

  Is it possible to catch an error when using JSONP with jQuery? I've tried both the $.getJSON and $.ajax methods but neither will catch the 404 error I'm testing.   I have a custom ListBox which uses a custom Panel as ItemsHost. I want to have control over mouse wheel input, so that turning the wheel changes the single selected item. I believe that the best method to do so is to handle the OnPreviewMouseWheel event (although this is only have what I want since it doesn't provide horizontal wheel data). Now the big question: Is there a best practice where to handle OnPreviewMouseWheel? In ListBox (which by default doesn't have a clue about the arrangement of the Panel's child elements) or in Panel (which by default doesn't have a clue about the "IsSelected" property of it's child elements)?

  I'm trying to choose some files to upload in Windows Phone 7 (in the emulator), and any attempt to ShowDialog of the OpenFileDialog leads to a Security Exception.
