  • How to retrieve virtual machines from a pool via API in oVirt (RHEV)

    In oVirt (Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization) you can create a Virtual Machines Pool to allow your users to retrieve virtual machines from this pool. I found how a user, in the RHEV User Portal, can request a Virtual Machine from the pool, this is explained here: https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization/3.0/html/Evaluation_Guide/Evaluation_Guide-Allocate_VM.html The thing is that i will need to retrieve virtual machines from the pool with the REST API and, after reading the documentation (https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization/3.0/html-single/REST_API_Guide/index.html) I cant found the way to do this.

  • Can I enable discards on a LUKS-encrypted ssd drive in RHEL6 (and do I need to)?

    I have a RHEL 6.4 workstation, running on a LUKS-encrypted LV residing on a SSD. I found RedHat documentation stating that dm_crypt does not currently support TRIM passthrough, however I also found other sources that state the opposite (albeit for other distributions) and even that discards are not needed for recent SSD drives which use some sort of automatic garbage collection. So: 1) Can I enable TRIM/discards with my setup? 2) Do I need to, for optimal disk performance? Thanks for your thoughts.

  • Can Airport Extremes handle NTFS external drives?

    I've got an Airport Extreme and an external USB Hard Drive formatted with NTFS. (And a LAN of Windows XP Machines.) The drive works perfectly when connected directly to a PC. When it's connected to the AE, however, the Airport Utility sees the drive and lists it in the Disks list, but the drive doesn't appear on the network (as near as I can tell.) Can the AE handle NTFS formatted disks? The documentation is vague on that point.

    In Firefox forward slash is mapped to quick find. Is it possible to let forward slash behave the same in Google Chrome as in Firefox? To find a link and follow it in a page in Google Chrome I now have to type: Ctrl + F, <search query>, ESC, Enter In Firefox this is: /, <search query>, Enter Not being able to use forward slash to find in page has been a real show-stopper for me as I use it all the time in Firefox to browse documentation.

The computer running DPM crashed and is not allowing me to restore the backup. However, i still have all the backups as partitions. I basically found some sample code and modified it to my specific purpose. What I don't quite understand is: Why does $1 refer to the the portion of the supplied url after the hostname - where is the documentation for this? There is no backreference in the RewriteCond.

    I see lots of documentation on how to manually set up a network bridge and then manually add vm's tun devices to these bridges and then write a shell script that glues it all together. lots of work, very manual, and not impressive. On the other hand if you want to use NAT to KVM+libvirt VMs to the network you just click the new network button in the virt-manager gui and relax. Am I missing "the easy way" of causing a VM to share the physical network with the host?

    If I'm going to create a multi-device btrfs filesystem. The official recommendation from the documentation apppears to be to create it on raw devices; i.e. /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc, etc, but this is not explained. Are there any advantages to creating a partition table on these devices first, either GPT or MBR, and then creating the filesystem on /dev/sdb1, /dev/sdc1 et cetera? Does feeding btrfs whole devices have some particular advantage, or are these basically equivalent?

    I did a great deal of reading here before posting this because I didn't want to post a duplicate - but I'm on a bit of a deadline and getting frustrated, so here goes... I very, very, very sincerely apologize if this is long winded or hard to read. Please - please just ask for any information or clarification and I will give it as quickly as I possibly can. This has become very frustrating to me and this is the last place I know to turn. I have no experience with setting up DNS, no experience with nameservers, and no peers to go to for help. So this is kind of my last ditch effort. The task of setting up a private server has, through circumstances beyond my control, fallen into my lap. I own a domain (hereafter referred to as yyy.com) and have always used shared hosting - I buy a package and just point it to the domain nameservers they give me. It's always been simple. yyy.com is registered with network solutions Now I have purchased a Virtual Private Hosting package from GoDaddy.com - and it comes with Plesk 11. I have no earthly idea how to begin to get the right nameserver for yyy.com. I have gone through the instructions and have wound up exceedingly frustrated. I have 2 IP addresses from GoDaddy for the server. This is what I have so far, and I cannot tell if it is working (Since propogation takes so long, it is extremely hard to test for me) IP 1 : XX.XX.XX.XX IP 2 : YY.YY.YY.YY (obviously hidden for privacy) Now after going through the documentation setup and waiting a few days, this is the setup I have - and so far it does not appear to be working. CNAME yyy.com. yyy.com is pointing to both ns1.yyy.com and ns2.yyy.com Can anyone give me some assistance here?
